Chaos After 2 National Guard Troops Shot Near White House

The Secret Service says two National Guardsmen were involved in a shooting near the White House this afternoon. D.C. police say one suspect is in custody.

Video on social media showed the chaos in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday after two National Guard troops were shot just a block from the White House.

Both were in critical condition, according to Donald Trump.

The suspect appeared to be wrestled to the ground by several police officers and National Guard troops surrounding him while emergency vehicles arrived. He was also injured, according to reports.

Officers were responding to the injured guard members shot at the location near Farragut Square, a park near K Street NW in downtown Washington, D.C.

Its unclear if they were directly targeted, CNN reported. One suspect, whose name has not been released, was in custody.
