NATO Scrambles Warplanes as Russia Shoots Down Wests F16 Fighter Jet in Ukraine Onslaught

A Ukrainian F16 supersonic fighter supplied by the West was shot down with the loss of a hero pilot amid a desperate operation to counter 500 plus strikes by Vladimir Putins forces operating in Polands airspace

MailOnline 29 JUN 2025

NATO has scrambled its warplanes after Russia used 500 missiles to down an F16 fighter jet.

Pilot Lt Col Maksym Ustimenko, born in 1993, shot down seven air targets using all his weapons before he was hit.

Polands operational command announced that NATO fighters were scrambled because of the intensity of Russian onslaught on Ukraine.

Due to the attack by the Russian Federation carrying out strikes on objects located in the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation has begun operating in our airspace, said a statement.

The Operational Commander of the armed forces has activated all available forces and resources at his disposal.

The on duty fighter pairs have been scrambled, and the ground based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness.

The steps taken are aimed at ensuring security in the areas bordering the threatened areas.

The Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk was hit as apocalyptic footage showed a former oil refinery up in flames.

The city was attacked simultaneously by Putins forces with cruise missiles, Kinzhal which translates as Our Dagger hypersonic missiles, and Iranian designed Shahed attack drones.

It was the most powerful onslaught against the city since the start of the war.

The attacks were across the country and amounted to one of the heaviest bombardments of the three year conflict.

A missile strike on Zaporizhzhia left an industrial facility on fire.

A production facility of one of the enterprises was damaged said Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration.

Mykolaiv and Donetsk region were also hit.

The NATO defence moves comes after the Russians targeted Lviv in western Ukraine.

Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said Russian forces attempted to strike critical infrastructure, but no civilians or residential buildings were affected.

The Ukrainian air force said Russia had unleashed 537 missiles and drones including 477 Hashed drones.

Four Kinzhal and seven Iskander MKN 23 ballistic missiles were fired at Ukraine.

The blitzkrieg also included 41 Kh101 Iskander K cruise missiles.

It comes after Russia issued a new threat against NATO after one of Britains allies and Russias neighbour said it was ready to host RAF warplanes that can carry tactical nuclear bombs.

In the security defence review unveiled this week by Keir Starmer, it was announced the RAF will be equipped with twelve new F35A fifth generation aircraft, which will be available to fly NATOs nuclear mission in a crisis

Estonias defence minister Hanno Pevkur said today that his country would naturally be prepared to host some of the jets sparking a furious reaction from Vladimir Putins spokesman, who was asked by Russian media if such a move would be perceived as a threat to Moscow.

Basically IMPOSSIBLE to Get Them Back- Russias MASS Abduction of Ukrainian Children is a WAR Crime

As territories shift and divide families, desperate parents are travelling to Russia to find their children, many of whom have been moved into military camps or orphanages

The Guardian 29 JUN 2025

Thousands of Ukrainian Children Abducted by Russia Forced Into Re-Education Camps.

As many as 35,000 Ukrainian children are still missing and thought to be held in Russia or Russian occupied territories, according to experts, with families saying they are being forced to take desperate and risky measures to try to rescue them.

As Russian forces began their invasion in February 2022, children were abducted from care homes, from the battlefield after the death of their parents, or under coercion directly from their families.

Russia has rejected demands for the children to be returned, with an official accusing Ukraine of staging a show on the topic of lost children during ceasefire talks in Turkey this month.

Speaking to the Guardian, one mother has described her own dramatic rescue of her two teenage sons who were held in a camp in Russia for almost six months.

After Russian forces occupied Natalias home city of Kherson on the eastern border of Ukraine, in September 2022, a neighbour advised her to send her sons to a childrens camp in Anapa, a seaside resort town in Russia.

The 21 day trip was free and they were meant to return to Kherson at the end. The boys wanted to go too, but it was a big mistake on my part to allow it, she says.

In late 2022, Ukrainian forces liberated Natalias city, but her children were in a camp on the other side of the frontline and Russia would not let them return home.

The camp authorities refused to let the children leave without my physical presence, she says. I didn?t know what to do.

Eventually, with the help of a Ukrainian organisation, Natalia obtained a passport and Ukrainian identification documents for her children. She then travelled alone across the border to the Russian town of Anapa on the northern coast of the Black Sea, passing through numerous border checkpoints where she had to explain to Russian soldiers why she was in the country.

She was travelling for six days, amid shelling, before finally being reunited with her children in February 2023. You cannot even imagine my emotions, because my children are all I have, she says.

So far just 1,366 children have been returned or escaped back to Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian organisation Bring Kids Back. A team of experts has estimated that as many as 35,000 children may be held in Russia and its occupied territories.

AND.....
The STRANGE CASE of the WW2 Crew

On August 16th, 1942, Lieutenant Ernest DeWitt Cody, 27 and Ensign Charles Ellis Adams, 34 were U.S. Navy pilots who vanished while flying a blimp, known as L8, on its regular patrol over California. When it later descended and crashed to earth, there was no one on board and no trace was ever found of the men.
