WSJ Warns New Trump Assault Will Haunt America -Terribly Damaging

- Trump is playing with fire by escalating his war against Harvard

AND Death by a Thousand Cuts -Major GLOBAL Bank Sounds Alarm on Trumps DISASTER Handling of Economy to Line His OWN Pockers

He has done everything to try to bring Harvard to heel after the prestigious Boston area Ivy League university refused to kowtow to his demands for eliminating diversity policies and cracking down on student protests

OR to turn over confidential records of foreign students. He revoked billions of dollars in scientific research funding at Harvard and moved to revoke the universitys tax exempt status, and this week, he upped the ante further by revoking Harvards ability to accept international students a measure already blocked in federal court.

Its that last step in particular, the board warned, that will sabotage Americas future viability as a place for scientific innovation.

Thats 6,800 students, or a quarter of Harvards student body, whose futures are suddenly in disarray. Its also a short-sighted attack on one of Americas great competitive strengths. Its ability to attract the worlds best and brightest. Its likely Harvard will prevail in its lawsuit, they continued, but regardless

This will be terribly damaging to Americas ability to attract talented young people who bring their enterprise and intellectual capital to the U.S. Non citizens accounted for more than half of doctoral degrees in AI related fields in 2022. Many have gone to work at U.S. companies like Nvidia or started their own.

The National Foundation for American Policy finds that immigrants have founded or cofounded nearly two thirds of the top AI companies in the United States, and 70% of full time graduate students in fields related to artificial intelligence are international students. Immigrants have also started more than half of Americas privately held startups valued at $1 billion or more.

And Trumps attack on Harvard signals to future international students that they should choose other countries instead. This assault on immigrant talent the board continued, simply isnt worth the pain it will cause.

Major Global Bank Sounds Alarm on Trump

The state of the United States economy is much shakier than previously thought under Donald Trumps leadership, according to one major international bank.

The New Republic reported Tuesday that Deutsche Bank managing director Jim Reid, who is the banks global head of macro research and thematic strategy, is now expressing increasing worry that Trumps policies are gradually wrecking the economy. In a memo, Reid remarked that the recent decision by Moodys to downgrade the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA1 for the first time in history could be a harbinger of tougher economic times in the near future.

Yesterday felt like we were somewhere along the line of a death by a thousand cuts with regards to the U.S. fiscal situation, Reid wrote. Hard to know where in that thousand we are but probably much nearer a thousand than at zero even as yesterday saw an initial sell off reverse as the session went on.

At the end of the day the loss of the final U.S. triple A rating late on Friday night doesnt change anything much immediately but it keeps the drip, drip, drip of poor fiscal news building up against the debt sustainability dam in the background, he added.

Moodys cited the growing U.S. national debt which is in excess of $36.8 trillion as a primary reason for the downgrade, and analysts opined that policy proposals currently under consideration by the Republican controlled Congress would only worsen the United States long term debt outlook.

SMUG and CUNNING

The credit downgrade could jeopardize efforts by the U.S. to borrow money in the future, and could increase the cost of debt service obligations
