Israel says it will not stop defending its existence after the UK, France and Canada said it should end its military campaign in Gaza and allow more humanitarian aid into the territory.

The UK stepped up its action against Israel yesterday, with Foreign Secretary David Lammy summoning the ambassador, suspending talks on a trade deal and theatening SANCTIONS.

Lammy and PM Keir Starmer sounded genuinely angry in their condemnation in the Commons. On the ground in Gaza, a British surgeon has described to us the high anxiety of working there and of the hopes that pressure from Israels allies leads to a ceasefire.
