The singer appeared at The Devil Wears Prada musical premiere tonight but left early. He was led away from the West End show by his husband David Furnish.
Elton recently revealed that he is blind in his right eye after an infection caused him to lose his vision.
However, the 77-year-old admitted tonight his eyesight has worsened leaving him unable to see the performance.
Elton opened up about his condition during a speech he made tonight at the star-studded charity gala.
The music legend told celebrities who attended the musical: "As some of you may know I have had issues and now I have lost my sight.
"I haven't been able to see the performance but I have enjoyed it."
He continued with a tribute to his supportive hubby, saying: "To my husband who?s been my rock because I haven?t been able to come to many of the previews...
"It?s hard for me to see it but I love to hear it and it sounded good tonight. Thank you for coming!"
