Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge has reopened a day after two suitcases containing human remains were found in the area sparking a manhunt.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were looking for a man who was seen with a suitcase acting suspiciously on the bridge just before midnight on Wednesday. The man had gone by the time they arrived.

Police closed the bridge in both directions on Thursday.

Avon and Somerset Police has launched a manhunt to find the suspect, who is described as black with a beard and a gold earring.

Officers said the suspect was wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket, black trainers with thick white soles and had a black backpack

The force's initial inquiries found the man was taken to the bridge in a taxi.

The taxi driver's vehicle has been seized and the driver is helping officers.
