Bannon & Lawyer Went on Tirade After Jail Sentence-Judge Responds
Judge Put Him in His Place: Insider Flags Contentious Moment Bannon Was Sent to Jail
The "contentious" hearing in which Trump's former advisor Steve Bannon was ordered to go to jail featured Bannons' attorney yelling and being put in his place by the judge
MSNRAW 9 JUN 2024
Bannon went on a tirade after the judge revoked his bail and told the popular far-right podcaster that he must spend four months in jail starting July 1.
Bannon was sentenced to spend the time in jail after failing to comply with congressional subpoenas connected to investigations into the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.
Ex-prosecutor Glenn Kirschner attended the hearing that led to the order, and appeared on MSNBC on Saturday to discuss it.
The host said the hearing "seemed contentious," and noted that "Bannon's lawyer was chastised for yelling."
"Yes. This was after the judge handed down his ruling and said that Steve Bannon would be required to report to the Federal Bureau of Prisons by July 1st to begin serving his four month sentence," Kirschner said.
Despite having practiced in that very same court for years, Kirschner said he was shocked with what happened after the decision was announced.
"I was surprised to see one of Steve Bannon's two criminal defense attorneys make a beeline for the podium," he said. "I can tell you, from having been in that court practicing for years, you usually wait for a judge to invite you to the podium."
The legal expert then continued:
"He did start yelling. He was angry that his client would now have to report to prison. The judge put him in his place sternly."
The host noted, "There is a chance for an appeal, right? But it is pretty much certain that Steve Bannon will go to prison July 1."
Kirschner simply nodded.
