Fani Willis condemns ‘illegitimate’ investigations into her led by ‘clown’ Jim Jordan: ‘Disgusting’
Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis talks with Rachel Maddow about Georgia state Republican politicians following the lead of Rep. Jim Jordan to abuse their political positions to try to interfere in the criminal prosecution of Donald Trump by attacking her and her office.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis slammed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for his investigation into her office, accusing him of prioritizing attacks on her instead of delivering for his constituents
“Jim Jordan has time after time after time attacked my office with no legitimate purpose.
Anyone who knows Jim Jordan’s history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation,” Willis claimed.
Part of the probe includes investigating a report that Willis’s office “unlawfully ‘planned to use part of a $488,000 federal grant — earmarked for the creation of a Center of Youth Empowerment and Gang Prevention’ — to cover frivolous, unrelated expenses,” according to a subpoena. Willis has said she “invite[s] him” to investigate the grants and that her office has complied with the subpoenas.
She also dissed Jordan’s district, which encompasses a rural central part of Ohio and some parts outside of Columbus, highlighting its crime issues. Columbus has one of the highest crime rates among cities in the U.S.
“He continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation. All while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and others who are attacking others legitimately doing their job, making him illegitimate in his position. And it’s disgusting,” Willis said.
She said those within Georgia are following Jordan’s lead by trying to “attack” her.
“Now, at the state level, they’ve decided to follow this clown’s lead. And they want to now try to interfere in an investigation and it’s not legitimate either and so it shall fail and it’s not going to go anywhere,” Willis said. “But they are trying to attack me at every level.”
“Having prosecutors that are free from interference and are allowed to look at cases, look at the facts, and if people broke the law to bring charges, has to go on for us to live in a free society” Willis said.
Still, she said as a result of all the investigations and “attacks,” she comes out stronger...
“The sad part, though, for all of them is it doesn’t matter how many times they attack me, I am not going to be broken,” Willis said.
