WOW Solid Gold Coin Worth Whopping £1400 Found Languishing in Scots Charity Donation Can

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance say the 2015 American Gold Buffalo 50-dollar coin remained hidden amongst other foreign currency for several weeks.

Daily Mail 9 DEC 2023

The 2015 American Gold Buffalo 50-dollar coin was given to the charity by a mystery donor

The exact location of the coin donation is not known

After being sent to Xchange Master, who swap the coins for Sterling, the true value of the rare coin - £1462 - was revealed.

The charity has said they have no way of knowing where in Scotland the donation was made - but are very grateful for their early Christmas present.

SCAA community fundraising manager Kate Loades said: “We have hundreds of collection cans distributed throughout Scotland. These are all emptied and counted, with any foreign, out-of-date or misshapen coins gathered in a box.

“When we have enough foreign coinage, it is sent for conversion to Sterling for our funds. It could have been donated anywhere in Scotland.

“All we know is that we’re hugely grateful to whatever kind person parted with their US coin to support the work of SCAA.
