Flat out, this sort of stuff gives me the willies. What sort of sick mother could do this to her child?

It is precisely these sorts of articles and tv news (given for shock and splash value) that gives citizens unrest about their society. You can see this displayed in the difference between a metropolis and a small town, in it's inhabitants attitudes. People in the big city don't trust their neighbors. People in small towns will actually say hello to the stranger. People are people and they how they react is directly influenced by their surrounding environment.

When you hear of stories as the above, your thoughts of what your environment around you may have changes. As a result so do your attitudes and how you deal with others surrounding you.

I'm gonna pass on the other story. I would not feel comfortable reading it. There seems to be a lot of sick people out there.

You are left with the thought of, "What were they thinking"?
