Mother, 20, faces life in prison after giving secretly giving birth, stabbing baby girl to death and hiding body in closet

A first-time mother was found guilty of repeatedly stabbing her newborn baby to death and hiding the body in a bedroom closet, a court heard today.
Yoselin Torres Tovar, 20, was charged with second-degree murder after she gave birth on April 18, stabbed the baby girl to death and stashed the body.
Tovar had given birth in secret in the bathroom of her home in Fullerton, California when she was 18.

She was taken to hospital by her family, who did not know she was pregnant, when she was found bleeding heavily at around 3am.
Doctors who examined Tovar found that she had given birth recently and informed the police who discovered the baby after searching the family home.
The 20-year-old faces 16 years to life in state prison after being convicted by a jury.
She will be sentenced on June 1, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
