The nations cyber spy agency has warned the AUKUS nuclear submarine partnership has made Australias defence sector a prime target for state-sponsored hackers.
The 2022-23 Australian Signals Directorate cyber threat report has highlighted a 23 per cent surge in cyber crimes last financial year.
Queensland and Victorian businesses are common targets for criminals out of the 1,100 incidents recorded.
It also highlighted China as a formidable state-sponsored cyber opponent.
Beijing is reportedly conducting more sophisticated hacking operations than Russia.
