UK Fighter Jets Scrambled to Intercept Russian Plane Flying Near Royal Navy Ships
Russian plane was spotted flying near the Royal Navys' Carrier Strike Group sparking a RAF response.

RAF deployed to escort Russian plane near carrier group
The Royal Air Force has dispatched fighter jets after a Russian maritime patrol plane was spotted near the UKs' carrier task force.
F-35s were launched in response to the sighting of the Russian aircraft, reported the UK Carrier Strike Group.
Norwegian airforce F-35As joined the RAF in escorting the Russian patrol plane over the Norwegian Sea.
Amid heightened tensions over the conflict in Ukraine, the RAF and the UK's NATO partners have been on high alert for the Russian Air Force incursions.
UK Carrier Strike Group headed by HMS Queen Elizabeth has been carrying out simulated missions in the North Sea
The UK flagship sails alongside an assortment of other Royal Navy ships including the Type 45 destroyer HMS Diamond and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker RFA Tideforce.
A number of warships for the UK's allies have also joined HMS Elizabeth for the readiness exercises. including ships from Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium.
HMS Queen Elizabeth carries the ability to deploy F-35 Lightning fighter jets as well as Merlin helicopters.
In a post on the HMS Queen Elizabeth's X, formerly Twitter, account the RAF's 617 squadron was praised for "professionally monitoring the situation."
