re: The Jewish Schindler: Woman Posed as Countess to Fool NAZIS & Save 10,000 Lives
This Man Should Have SHOT Hitler…
One of the biggest what ifs in History was when a British soldier during the First World War spared a German soldier who had ran into the wrong area.
BBC 17 SEP 2023
Private Henry James Tandey VC, DCM, MM (born Tandy, 30 August 1891 – 20 December 1977) was a British recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Years of service: 1907–1926
Henry Tandey was the British soldier armed with his rifle, and the young German soldier was Adolf Hitler. Tandey would not shoot Adolf Hitler, and he would then allow him to return to his trench and the German Army. But he could have also captured him as a prisoner of war, but he would not do this.
The bullet that Henry Tandey could have fired may have decades later saved the lives of millions of people during the Second World War.
Henry Tandey's encounter with Hitler would live fondly in the German Dictators mind, and he was favourable to the British for this sparing act. Hitler would even send a message to Tandey before the war broke out about this.
But Henry Tandey would late regret his decision not to shoot Hitler, especially as the Luftwaffe heavily bombed his hometown.
