The Case for Beckham

David Beckham, for nearly a decade, was the highest grossing athlete on the planet. Even today, he still generates a remarkable amount of publicity and sales.
And there is plenty of substance in Beckham's play that justifies the attention. His dead-ball specialty is still every bit as good as it once was.
His resume is probably one of the finest in European soccer history, at least at the club level.
He started his career at Manchester United, moved on to Real Madrid, and then joined the Galaxy. He also has dabbled with A.C. Milan. Certainly, Becks has played for three of the most famous teams in the world.
And he's won a number of trophies too. Countless league titles and a Champions League title in 1999 with United made him a world celebrity. There's also this.
There's no question that he's brought fans to MLS.
