US Navy Veteran Outed as Putin Propagandist Who Helped Spread Pentagon Intelligence Leak
Former US Navy officer has been identified as a key actor in the distribution of pro-Russian propaganda online.
Sarah Bils, a 37-year-old from Washington state's Whidbey Island, has been unmasked as the person behind the pro-Kremlin social media account "Donbass Devushka," which translates to 'Donbas Girl.'

Bils allegedly ran a massive network of pro-Kremlin websites, podcasts, and fundraising accounts under this alias, spreading misinformation in favour of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and against Kyiv.
According to an investigation by the pro-Ukraine social media movement North Atlantic Fella Organisation (NAFO), although identifying herself online as a Ukraine-born woman supporting Russia's actions, Bils was born in New Jersey and currently resides in Oak Harbour, Washington.
NAFO uncovered Bils' true identity after comparing footage from her 'Donbass Devushka' broadcasts with a June 2020 interview she gave under her real identity with the Aquarium Co-op Podcast, where she shared her expertise and passion for tropical fish.
The organisation also found similarities in voice and on-screen background between Bils and the 'Donbass Devushka' persona.
Russian Advance On Kyiv Appears To Have Stalled, But Threat From Above Persists
Bils, on the other hand, claimed to be only an administrator for the 'Donbass Devushka' persona and claimed that the network is operated by 14 other administrators situated all over the world.
Kallioniemi said: "They were definitely one of the fastest-growing English-language, pro-Russian communities."
