Manny Pacquiao May Choose Religion Over Boxing

Bleachersreport 21 Feb 2012

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is considering retirement to focus on his newfound “Bible-centered” life, according to the Philippine newspaper Minda News, by way of USA Today.

“It’s not right that I share God’s word and at the same time hurt other people,” he told reporters after gracing the oath-taking of newly-promoted personnel of the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion in Maasim town in Sarangani. “I’ve gained more than enough blessings these past years so I think it’s time for me to return the favor,” he said in Filipino.

Pacquiao told reporters he is seriously considering leaving his boxing career after his scheduled June 9 World Boxing Organization welterweight title fight against American Timothy Bradley.

Pacquiao, the WBO welterweight champion, was the first boxer to win the lineal championship in four different weight classes with a career record of 54-3-2. Aside from boxing, he was also elected to the House of Representatives of the Philippines. With news of his possible retirement from boxing, fans may never get see the superfight they have been waiting for between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
