Children among 80 dead as hundreds fall into river after suspension bridge collapses

More than 60 people have died after a cable bridge collapsed into a river in India, according to press reports in the country.

Officials told local media over a hundred people were plunged into the Machchu river, in the western state of Gujarat, when the bridge in the Morbi district collapsed.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on the bridge, but it is feared the death toll could rise.
