Default Re: POWER of PRAYER- No Matter Which Faith You Follow=GOD is With You

In 2 Chronicles 18, we find King Jehoshaphat faced with a choice to either follow the policies of almost every king before him or enact a policy that was hardly ever followed. Even though it makes him unpopular with the people, he joyfully chooses the latter option as an act of obedience to the Lord.
Before this, we read in 2 Chronicles 17:6 that Jehoshaphat was committed to the ways of the Lord, removing the pagan shrines, and teaching God's law. He also chose to send his officials out to teach in the cities of Judah. (vs.7-9) We learn that Jehoshaphat made choices that gave him favor so that other kingdoms did not make war against him. I encourage you to read on in Chapters 19 and 20. You will find the prayer of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:6-13, as well as the reminder from 2 Chronicles 20:15 that the battle is the Lord's.
The takeaway for us today is the reminder that:
  • Those who love God delight in his ways.
  • Those who obey God find joy in their obedience.
  • Those who find joy in obedience to God also find joy in helping others know the Lord.
Today, ask the Lord to help you:
  • Live daily delighting in His ways.
  • Make choices that lead you to be courageous for Him.
  • Give you opportunities to tell others about Jesus.
Heavenly Father, thank You that we can call upon You no matter what decisions we face today. May the Holy Spirit work through us today to make decisions that honor You, show respect to others, and do not bring harm upon us. In Jesus's Name. Amen.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people -- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4
