Six Russian climbers have died and another six are waiting to be rescued after falling on the highest active volcano in Eurasia.

Four of the victims are believed to have died instantly when they fell close to 4,000 metres up the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in eastern Russia.

Rescuers have been hampered by poor weather from reaching the survivors who are sheltering in two separate locations.
