Rare, Stolen Superman Comic Worth $1M Turns Up In a Storage Locker In California
Apr 11, 2011
A rare, $1 million copy of the Superman debut comic, stolen from actor Nicolas Cage 10 years ago, has turned up in a storage locker in the San Fernando Valley, the Ventura County Star reports.
It surfaced after a man bought the contents of the locker in a liquidation auction.
Eventually, an expert in comics confirmed that the 1938 copy was the one stolen from Cage's west Los Angeles home in 2000. Cage, an avid comic book collector, received an insurance payoff after the theft, the newspaper says.
The LAPD has possession of the comic until it can sort out who stole it, The Star reports.
