Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov warns World War 3 would be ‘nuclear and destructive
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, referenced alleged US biological sites in the country, prompting suggestions Russia may be readying to use chemical weapons in its war in Ukraine.
The threat was flagged after Mr Lavrov claimed the US was "worried that it would lose control" over what he claimed were chemical weapons sites in the country.
UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has labelled the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant a "threat to European security".
Britain has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in response, saying the world needs to hold "those responsible to account".
Volodymyr Zelensky called it an act of "nuclear terrorism".
Video footage from a camera feed at the plant showed a ball of light, an illumination round fired by Russian artillery, as the power plant came under attack.
