Prince Harry Urged to Tear Up £100m Netflix Deal as Princess Dianas' Pal Quits The Crown

Prince Harry has been urged to "tear up" his £100million deal with Netflix - because of The Crown's portrayal of Princess Diana, reports claim.
Elizabeth Debicki has taken over the role of Princess Diana from Emma Corrin in the new season of The Crown and Prince Harry has been slammed for remaining "absolutely silent" about how his late mother has been portrayed on the show.
The new series of The Crown is believed to be covering the tragic royal’s controversial tell-all chat with Martin Bashir in 1995, as well as a number of other key moments in Diana's life including her divorce from Prince Charles and her relationships with Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed.
Diana's friend Jemima Khan was brought in to help the team re-create the final years of her pal's life, but she stepped down earlier this year after saying the show hadn't handled Diana's story "as respectfully or compassionately as she had hoped".
And now Harry is being urged to distance himself from the streaming giant.
Angela Levin, author of Harry: A Biography of a Prince, told The Sun: "Harry has remained absolutely silent about Netflix. He should tear the deal up and make a stand for his mother.
"What’s more important? Money or defending his mum? It’s astonishing he can’t find his voice on this."
Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, added: "I don’t think Harry gets it. I presume when he did the deal with Netflix he didn’t think it through - but Meghan would have, she’s not an idiot.
"He talked about The Crown during his bus interview with James Corden, so he’s not totally oblivious."
Harry and his wife Meghan Marklestepped down from the royal family last year and soon after signed a huge deal with Netflix, where they signed up to make documentaries, children's programmes, scripted shows and feature films.
A statement from Meghan and Harry said at the time: "Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us."
Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer and co-chief exec, added: "We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere."
Harry and Meghan said they were confident that Netflix's "unprecedented reach will help them share impactful content that unlocks action".
