Haunting GHOST STORIES From The 2011 Tōhoku Tsunami

1 Oct 2021 W
eird World

When the massive earthquake and tsunami struck Fukushima in northeast Japan on March 11th in 2011, the disaster claimed over 18,000 lives throughout the coastal Tohoku region and also decimated the seaside town of Ishinomaki.

Not long after, residents reported frequent ghost sightings in Ishinomaki. People would describe seeing shadows on the other side of a window.

Another resident claimed that he had seen his mother’s ghost immediately after the tsunami had swept her house away. Strangely though, the most common reports of ghosts sightings came from taxi drivers where many had experienced phantom riders who vanished from the back seat of their cab the moment they reached their destination.
