Prince Andrew Can Still Face Civil Court For Sex Abuse Claims Without Entering US'

It comes as Virginia Giuffre this week alleged in court that she was “loaned” to Andrew by Epstein and Epsteins’ alleged “recruiter” Ghislaine Maxwell, when she was 17

7 explosive allegations from Virginia Giuffre lawsuit accusing Prince Andrew of abuse

Virginia Giuffre has issued legal proceedings against the Duke of York over allegations he abused her as a teenager on a number of occasions through his friendship with the paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein

Daily Mirror, 12 AUG 2021

Prince Andrew can still be tried for sex abuse claims in a civil court without entering America, legal experts claim.

It comes as Virginia Giuffre this week alleged in court that she was “loaned” to Andrew by Epstein and Epstein’s alleged “recruiter” Ghislaine Maxwell, when she was 17, allegations the prince strongly denies.

Last night Andrew arrived at Balmoral with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, to visit the Queen who is there on her summer break.

While there has been no public statement to confirm whether Andrew will fly to the U.S., experts claims he can still be tried in his absence.

What are the main allegations in the court documents?

1. Prince Andrew is accused of sexual assault and battery

The lawsuit claims Ms Giuffre did not consent to any sexual acts with Prince Andrew, but alleges he sexually abused her 'for the purpose of gratifying his sexual desires' on a number of occasions.

The Duke is accused of committing sexual assault and battery upon Ms Giuffre when she was 17 years old.

"As such, Prince Andrew is alleged to be responsible for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress," the lawsuit states.

"The damage to the alleged victim is claimed to have been severe and lasting."

2. Teen victim was 'regularly abused' and lent out to rich men

Ms Giuffre claims she was regularly abused by Epstein and was lent out by the billionaire to other powerful men for sexual purposes, including Prince Andrew.

The lawsuit says she was the victim of trafficking and sex abuse by Epstein between 2000 and 2002.

While she was initially recruited to provide massages this alleged abuse would go on to include engaging in sexual acts, being on call for Epstein for sexual purposes and travelling with him across the US and internationally.

Andrew was a close friend of Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite who spent years overseeing and managing Epstein’s sex trafficking network. She allegedly recruited underage girls, including Ms Giuffre.

The prince met Epstein through Maxwell in 1999, going on to become a guest in the billionaire's various homes around the world.

3. Girl 'forced to have sex with prince then threatened to stay silent'

Ms Giuffre was allegedly forced to have sex with Prince Andrew at Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s direction.

"On one occasion, Prince Andrew sexually abused [the] Plaintiff in London at Maxwell’s home," the court document alleges.

"During this encounter, Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew forced [the ] Plaintiff, a child, to have sexual intercourse with Prince Andrew against her will."

Epstein and Maxwell intimidated the alleged victim into remaining silent about what had happened to her, the document goes on to claim.

The lawsuit alleges Ms Giuffre "was compelled by express or implied threats by Epstein, Maxwell, and/or Prince Andrew to engage in sexual acts with Prince Andrew.

"[She] feared death or physical injury to herself or another and other repercussions for disobeying Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew due to their powerful connections, wealth, and authority".

4. One incident allegedly involved a second victim

On one occasion, Prince Andrew is accused of sexually abusing Ms Giuffre in Epstein’s New York mansion.

During this encounter, Maxwell is claimed to have forced the then-teenager and another victim to sit on the royal’s lap as he touched her.

On another occasion, the Duke is alleged to have sexually abused Ms Giuffre on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands, Little St. James.

5. Prince Andrew accused of knowing teen was sex trafficking victim

The lawsuit not only alleges that the prince abused a teenager, but that he knew how old she was at the time 'based on communications from Epstein and Maxwell'.

He is further accused of engaging in sexual acts with her at Epstein and Maxwell’s invitation, knowing she was a sex-trafficking victim being forced to do so.

6. Andrew's contact details said to be in Epstein's 'Black Book' of abuse

Epstein kept a 'Black Book' to organise his abuse, a collection of phone numbers and contact information listing girls to call for “massages” in various cities.

The book also included flight logs documenting his frequent travel with young girls and powerful individuals on his private plane, and troves of lewd photographs of young girls recovered from his homes, the suit claims.

Epstein had at least 12 different contact numbers listed for Prince Andrew in the book, it is alleged.

7.Prince Andrew 'refused to co-operate' with investigators over Epstein

The lawsuit accuses Prince Andrew of 'publicly feigning ignorance' about the scope of Epstein’s sex-trafficking operation, and not helping with criminal probes.

It highlights the disastrous interview the prince agreed to take part in on Newsnight, in which he addressed his relationship with Epstein.

During that programme the prince said he would assist law enforcement agencies with their investigations into the billionaire, but the lawsuit claims he has since refused to do so.

Eighteen months ago US Attorney Geoffrey Berman claimed the prince had provided 'zero' co-operation over the Epstein inquiry.

"Prince Andrew and his counsel have also refused to cooperate with counsel for the victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking," the lawsuit alleges. "Andrew and his representatives have rejected all such requests, and responded by escalating their vile and baseless attacks on [the] Plaintiff and others."
