Unhappy Princess Diana-Queen of Hearts' LAST Phone Call

Princess Dianas' LAST Phone Call

Princess Dianas' friend has talked about their last phone call before she was killed in a tragic crash in Paris.

Richard Kay was told by police that he was the last person Diana called before her death in 1997.

The journalist spoke about details of the call as part of a new ITV documentary, Diana, which airs on 24 June at 9pm.

He said the Princess of Wales was looking forward to coming home so she could be reunited with her children, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Mr Kay recalled: "I spoke to her that last night. The police said that the last call she made was to me."

He said he felt Diana was "in quite a good place" and was looking to embrace a new chapter in her life.

Mr Kay continued: "She was desperate to try and make a fresh start and do something different, to explore a different kind of royalty.

"And she wanted to come back and see her boys."

The documentary celebrates Diana's life and traces her journey, both in front and away from the cameras, as she assumed the role of the People's Princess.

Producers are hoping that the landmark programme will be “the definitive story of the most famous woman in the world.”

Jo Clinton-Davis from ITV, said: “This year would have been Diana’s 60th birthday, and the intention with this landmark documentary is to offer the definitive account of her life, both in front of the cameras and behind the scenes.

“It is a difficult undertaking to shed new light on the most emotional, dramatic and pivotal elements of the life of Diana, when that light still burns brightly.

“But by delving deep into her relationships with friends, colleagues and staff, our aim is to provide a vivid portrayal of the woman who became known as the Queen of Hearts.”

Prince Harry and Prince William are also expected to come together in July to unveil a statue for their late mum, who died when they were just teenagers.

The statue will be unveiled at Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden, which was one of Diana's favourite spots.

A source said: “Harry has said he will do his utmost to be there. He wants to put ona united front with William and pay an appropriate tribute to their mother.”
