With the icy continent’s population fluctuating between about 1,100 over winter to four and a half thousand during the summer, this makes roughly one restless spirit for every nine people who inhabit the region.

The ghosts of explorers, scientists, and tourists are reported to wander the chilling terrain and abandoned buildings, along with the other eerie phenomena found there.
