Queens' Sweet Wreath Tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore as He's Laid to Rest in Funeral

The Queen left a heartfelt tribute for Captain Sir Tom Moore at his funeral today.

The monarch sent a wreath of 100 white roses to be laid for the NHS fundraising hero.

The World War 2 veteran's life was honoured with a fly-past today after his efforts to raise £32million for the health service.

He captured worldwide attention after his feat of walking100 laps of his garden on his walking frame drew mammoth levels of donations.

Sir Tom died on February 2 after testing positive for coronavirus at the beginning of this year.

The deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, David Pearson, laid a wreath in Keighley, which was the birthplace of Sir Tom, on behalf of the Queen.

The touching tribute came after Sir Tom was knighted by the royal during an open-air ceremony at Windsor Castle last summer in honour of his efforts during the pandemic.

The fundraising hero was laid to rest by eight members of his family in Bedfordshire today.

They said his "message and his spirit lives on".
