Daily Mirror UK, 1 FEB, 2021.
Captain Sir Tom Moore was unable to have his Covid jab before he caught the virus because he was on medication for pneumonia.
The WW2 veteran, who was knighted by the Queen for raising millions for the NHS, was admitted to hospital today with pneumonia and coronavirus.
A spokeswoman for the family of the 100-year-old NHS hero said he was not allowed to make the journey to his local vaccination centre.
He would have been one of the first wave of Brits to be given the jab.
She said: “Because of the medication he was taking for his pneumonia he couldn’t have the Covid jab.
“But other than that, the information that was in his daughter Hannah’s statement is all we can share at the moment.
“Everyone is sending positive thoughts his way.”
