Unsurprisingly, becoming the first country in the world to approve a coronavirus vaccine means the world's attention focuses on the UK.
As the European Medicines Agency passes judgement on Britain's rapid green light for the Pfizer/BioNTech jab, Tory ministers have struggled to contain their glee. Jacob Rees-Mogg accused the European regulator of being "a bit sniffy" about the "huge British success" in approving a Covid vaccine first.
Gavin Williamson, the Education Secretary, went a step further and suggested the world-first was because "we're a much better country than every single one of them".
Jonathan Van-Tam, England's deputy chief medical officer, was more restrained as he suggested the EMA was trying to excuse its delay in approval. The key questions are whether the Covid vaccine is safe and will it work?
After his tour of the broadcast studios this morning, Catherine Neilan examines why Mr Van-Tam - known as JVT - has become the public face of the UK vaccination programme.
Initial doses of the vaccine are reportedly travelling to the UK via the Eurotunnel today ready for vaccination to begin next week.
Yet the 'cold supply chain' that will allow vaccines to be transported at sub-zero temperatures has allegedly been targeted by a group of hackers likely backed by a nation state.
IBM has warned it has uncovered "a global phishing campaign" aimed at the supply chain for vaccines such as the one developed by Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech.
The hackers appeared to be trying to disrupt or steal intelligence about the processes that would keep vaccines cold while on their way to hospitals.
The attempt spanned six countries linked to the Cold Chain Equipment Optimisation Platform (CCEOP) of Gavi, the international vaccine alliance which helps distribute jabs to some of the world's poorest countries.
"Think of it as the bloodline that will be supplying the most vital vaccines globally," said Claire Zaboeva, an IBM analyst involved in the detection.
