Maricopa Elections Office In Phoenix Closes Building Amid Pro-Trump Protest
With the race still poised on a knife-edge, officials in Maricopa County, Arizona, have been forced to close the state’s ballot-counting facility amid safety concerns for the media as 200 Trump supporters - many of them armed - have reportedly gathered outside the building. But poll workers will continue to count ballots and report results amid the developing demonstration outside.
Bitter Donald Trump threw an extraordinary tantrum as rival Joe Biden closed in on the White House.
The hysterical President tried to whip up fury with a lying rant on the postal vote system, which was giving his rival a late lead.
Mr Trump warned he would go to the Supreme Court in a bid to stop votes being counted after election day, despite the process being legal. He said: “This is a major fraud on our nation.”
As his grip on power appeared to be slipping, Mr Trump also falsely claimed he had won the election, despite results clearly showing Mr Biden edging it.
In a desperate bid to cling on to office while rival Joe Biden edged closer to the White House, the President launched a lying tirade and tried to subvert democracy by demanding postal votes stop coming in.
Trump also falsely claimed he had won the election early on, despite results showing Mr Biden slightly ahead of him. During a meltdown at his campaign HQ – and with no evidence of voter fraud – he said: “We did win this *election. Our goal now is to ensure the *integrity for the good of this nation.
“This is a very big moment. This is a major fraud on our nation. We want the law to be used in a proper manner. So we’ll be going to the US Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop.”
No citizen was casting votes after the election, but postal ones still have to be counted – which is legal.
Mr Trump later tweeted: “Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key states, in almost all instances *Democrat-run and controlled. Then, one by one, they started to *magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted. VERY STRANGE.”
Twitter immediately branded the post “disputed and might be misleading”.
But the deluded *President added: “We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. They are finding Biden votes all over the place… in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and *Michigan.
He gets on the television and he says, ‘Thank you, Americans, for re-electing me. It’s all over. Have a good day.’
“But next day, and the day following, all of those mail-in ballots start getting counted, and it turns out that Biden was won those states, at which point Trump says, ‘See? I told you the whole thing was fraudulent. And we’re not going to leave office.’”
Even Trump’s allies were disgusted by his claim of victory and demands to stop counting.
And the Trump campaign tonight said it filed lawsuits in Pennsylvania and Michigan, laying the foundation to contest the results there.
The court action demands better access for campaign observers to *locations where ballots are being processed and counted.
