Adolf Hitler was one of the most feared tyrants in human history - responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people.
World War Two stretched on for six long years and Britain and the Allied forces strove to defeat the Nazis.
During his rule of Germany, the dictator imprisoned millions of Jewish men, women and children in his horrifiying death camps, murdering them in gas chambers.
Even now, 75 years after the end of the brutal fighting, concentration camps like Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz still bears the scars of the terrible atrocities that took place there.
But what could turn a little boy from Austria into the most despicable leader in the world - one psychologist believed he had the answer.

In 1943 Harvard Professor Dr Henry Murray was commissioned by the US Office of Strategic Services, a precursor to the CIA, commissioned Murray to study Adolf Hitler's personality.
His 229-page report makes for harrowing reading and tells of a child damaged beyond repair by his tyrannical father and his obsession with his own mother.
Hitler is once said to have caught his parents having sex, which only fuelled his love for his mother and his hatred for his own father.
Dr Murray unmasked Hitler's disturbing sexual traits - and physical deformities - that made him believe he was a lesser man.
He described the Nazi leader as an "utter wreck" who was "incapable of normal human relationships".

Dr Murray wrote: "It is forever impossible to hope for any mercy or humane treatment from him."
The psychologist believes Hitler's feelings of inadequacy started when he was still a child.
He was a small, sickly and frail youngster who even refused to go to school because he wasn't as clever or tall as his classmates.
Hitler's mother is also said to have spoiled her son when he was still a child, allowing him to drop out of school.
He wasn't forced to take part in any sports or manual labour and was turned down several times when he tried to join the Austrian army.

The troubled boy developed a twisted fascination with "brute strength, physical force, ruthless domination, and military conquest".
His sick desires also manifested themselves in his personal life, with him embarking on abusive relationships with women, who he loved to humilate, according to Dr Murray.
Former sexual partners of the Nazi told Dr Murray that Hitler was incapable of consumating their relationships in a normal way.
The report claims Hitler had a micro-penis and just one testicle - he also had some bizarre sexual fantasies.
Dr Murray wrote that Hitler liked women to defecate on him and enjoyed being kicked when he had sex.

Renate Muller, a German film star, reportedly had to kick Hitler while he lay on the floor after they had sex - she later committed suicide.
The report said: "This infirmity we must recognise as an instigation to exorbitant cravings for superiority.
“Unable to demonstrate male power before a woman, he is impelled to compensate by exhibiting unsurpassed power before men in the world at large."
Even his own family weren't safe from Hitle's perversions, according to Dr Murray, who claims he had sex with his own niece.
She is then believed to have told Nazi supporter Otto Strasser, who fled the party shortly after.
Hitler, who was also said to suffer from sweaty palms and "dead eyes", is said to have focused his hatred on Jews simply because he felt they were an easy target.

However, even at the height of his power, Hitler is said to have been struck down with a trouble conscience.
Dr Murray said: "He has nightmares from a bad conscience, and he has long spells when energy, confidence, and the power of decision abandon him."
But when the feelings past he would return with "resolute decision to counterattack with great force and ruthlessness".
