Princess Beatrice's Wedding Tiara Caused The Queen Serious Upset and Stress
Princess Beatrice borrowed a dress and a tiara from her grandmother the Queen for her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but the Monarch has some upsetting memories of the stunning diamond headpiece
Daily Mirror UK, 23 JUL 2020
Princess Beatrice had the huge honour of wearing the same tiara that the Queen wore on her wedding day when she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Apart from the Monarch's daughter Princess Anne, Beatrice is the only royal who has worn it.
The stunning Queen Mary Fringe was originally commissioned by Queen Mary, using diamonds gifted to her by Queen Victoria.
Queen Mary gave the historical piece to the Queen Mother in 1936, and it became the then Princess Elizabeth's 'something borrowed' when she married Philip Mountbatten in 1947.
But unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly on the morning of their big day and there was a disaster with the tiara.

Just two hours before the wedding was due to start, the tiara snapped in half as the hairdresser was fixing Elizabeth's veil.
The Queen Mother managed to remain calm and reportedly reminded her upset daughter "there are still two hours and there are other tiaras."
And luckily, this wasn't any ordinary wedding, and the royal family's jewellery was on standby just in case anything went wrong.

He came to the rescue, rushing the broken piece to their workshop to see if he could repair it in time - with a police escot.
And he managed it.
The team frantically welded the piece back together and got back to the bride just in time for her to have it placed on her head.
Some people claim that you can see the tiara looks slightly wonky in some of the pictures from the day, but we think it looked perfect.

Beatrice teamed the tiara with another loan from the Queen - a stunning ivory dress.
The vintage Peau De Soie taffeta gown, which is trimmed with Duchess satin and encrusted with diamante, was originally made by Norman Hartnell and adapted for Beatrice by the Queen's right-hand woman Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin.
Many believe the fact that the Queen lent her granddaughter two special items was an act of solidarity.

Royal writer Penny Junor said: "It's really touching that the Queen showed such solidarity with her, especially with the tiara that she herself was married in speaks volumes.
"I think it shows how fond her grandparents are of her, it's really heartwarming."
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, added: "I think it's a tremendous compliment to Beatrice and the whole York family that the Queen would lend one of her vintage dresses.
"It's charming, something mothers and daughters do.
"It says a lot more than anything that this has happened."
The Queen first wore the dress to the Lawrence of Arabia film premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square on December 10, 1962.
She also wore it for the State Opening in 1966.
