Ghislaine Maxwell has been refused bail after pleading not guilty to charges that she helped Jeffrey Epstein abuse underage girls.


The former girlfriend of the late American financier and convicted paedophile appeared in court in New York.

The judge accepted the argument of prosecutors that the 58-year-old should remain in custody because there was a significant risk that she would flee the United States.
