Without Tyson's frightening (he was giggling as he made the statement) editorializing of the how and why he delivered this blow, it illustrated Tyson's tenacity and remarkable skills as a puncher as deftly as any combination he landed. Joe Louis could land the combination as quickly, but not land it with anywhere near the emphasis Tyson achieves.
Already, at such an early stage of his career, he was being touted as someone who hit as hard as George Foreman but had exceedingly faster hands. A combination like the one he landed to floor Jesse Ferguson underlined that point more than anything else could.
