En Route to NFL Then Wrongly Convicted & Sent to Prison
Brian Banks (2019)
The inspirational true story of Brian Banks (Aldis Hodge), an All-American high school football star committed to USC who finds his life upended when he is wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit.
Former high school football star Brian Banks shares with Kristine Leahy the powerful story of his wrongful conviction, subsequent exoneration, and major motion picture release.
Accuser, Wanetta Gibson Recants
Wanetta Gibson was ordered by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to pay a $1.5 million, plus an additional $1.1 million in fees.
Gibson was an acquaintance of Brian Banks at Long Beach Polytechnic High School when she accused him of raping her in a school stairwell.
Gibson then sued the Long Beach Unified School District, claiming the school was not safe; she won a $750,000 settlement.
