Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304368325 Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images Featherweight Bout Kenny Florian (14-5, 11-4 UFC) 10 wins by submission, three by knockout and one by decision Three losses by decision, one by submission and one by knockout Diego Nunes (16-1, 1-0 UFC) Six wins by submission, five by knockout and five by decision One loss by decision Breakdown This is a good matchup, featuring two guys who know what they are doing on the ground. Nunes is a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Florian is a second-degree black belt. If Florian is going to get one more shot at a UFC title before his career ends, here it is. A win over Nunes throws him into the contender conversation for a possible bout with Aldo later this year or even Mendes. Nunes is a very even fighter, recording six wins by submission and five wins by knockout. So either way he has a shot. Good fight ahead. Prediction: Nunes by unanimous decision . |
Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Junior Dos Santos and Other UFC 131 Fight Card
Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304368765 Middleweight Bout Demian Maia (14-2, 8-2 UFC) Eight wins by submission, four by decision and two by knockout One loss by knockout and one by decision Mark Munoz (10-2, 5-2 UFC) Five wins by knockout, four by decision and one by submission One loss by knockout and one by decision Breakdown Another fight with two ground specialists. Maia is a great practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Munoz is a former Division I national champion wrestler from Oklahoma State. Along with his great ground game, Munoz carries a heavy hand and is a pretty scary fighter (he is also a purple belt in BJJ). Maia may meet his match and give Munoz another win and a chance at becoming a possible contender for the middleweight title. Prediction: Munoz by unanimous decision |
Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Junior Dos Santos and Other UFC 131 Fight Card
Mac Danzig vs. Donald Cerrone
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304370154 Lightweight Bout Mac Danzig (20-8-1, 4-4 UFC) 10 wins by submission, five by knockout and five by decision Five losses by decision, two by submission and one by knockout Donald Cerrone (14-3, 1 NC, 1-0 UFC) 12 wins by submission and two by decision Two losses by decision and one by submission Breakdown This is another bout that could go the full distance. Cerrone twice had troubles beating Ben Henderson and found himself being submitted in their second match. This bout may end the same way, because like Henderson, Danzig is an excellent grappler. Tough pick, but I have to choose one. Prediction: Cerrone by unanimous decision . |
Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Junior Dos Santos and Other UFC 131 Fight Card
Shane Carwin vs. Jon Olav Einemo
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304370275 Heavyweight Bout Shane Carwin (12-1, 4-1 UFC) Seven wins by knockout and five by submission One loss by submission Jon Olav Einemo (6-1, 0-0 UFC) Five wins by submission and one by knockout One loss by decision Breakdown This is Einemo's first fight in almost five years, so rust will definitely play a factor in this bout. Carwin is too strong and too good for Einemo. Carwin is coming off an injury and this is a good return bout for him. The match should be an easy win for Carwin. Prediction: Carwin by second round TKO . |
Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Junior Dos Santos and Other UFC 131 Fight Card
Brock Lesnar vs. Junior Dos Santos
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304370300 No. 1 Heavyweight Contender Bout Brock Lesnar (5-2, 4-2 UFC) Two wins by submission, two by knockout and one by decision One loss by submission and one by knockout Junior dos Santos (12-1, 6-0 UFC) Eight wins by knockout, three by submission and one by decision One loss by submission Breakdown The closer we get to UFC 131, the more I lean towards JDS. JDS is a fantastic striker and is definitely someone who could pick apart Lesnar. If Lesnar gets the fight to the ground, this could become a hugfest and Lesnar will walk away with a unanimous decision. Lesnar wants to win this fight badly and has a huge chip on his shoulder. JDS is just too quick and too strong to lose, however. Lesnar will make it out of the first round but will break in the second round. Prediction: JDS by second round TKO . |
