AC Milan superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is receiving support from his team after a reported hit-and-run accident outside of the training ground on Tuesday.

The Swedish striker allegedly struck a woman with his mirror before driving away, according to Football Italia. Milan has stated that Ibrahimovic shouldn't be held responsible for the incident, however, despite failing to address it right away.

It's tough to make a definitive judgment based on the above video because the woman appears to reach out toward the car before getting struck. It's also curious that she, along with several other people, are standing in the middle of a street as players are leaving.

There's no way to know if Ibrahimovic, who had a goal and two assists in the Rossoneri's destruction of Arsenal last week, even knew he made contact with the woman. The report states he could be questioned by police because he didn't stop.

Either way, the team is smart to immediately come to his defense. They can't afford any unnecessary drama with the season at such a critical juncture.

To go along with a tight Serie A title chase with Juventus, Milan appears destined to make the final eight of the Champions League. The Rossoneri are also in the Coppa Italia semifinals, so it's clear they need Ibrahimovic focused on football, not this incident.

It's also a learning experience for the team. There's no reason a horde of people should be crowding the streets for an accident like this to even become an issue. Milan needs to do whatever it takes to make sure something similar doesn't happen again.

All told, it's tough to imagine Ibrahimovic facing any serious penalty. Without evidence suggesting he did it on purpose or even understood what happened, it's tough for somebody standing in his way to complain about getting struck. There's no right of way given to jaywalkers.

Milan did the right thing to support its biggest star, and now the Rossoneri just have to hope it all blows over by the time they get back to action for a major clash against Juventus on Saturday.
