Afghanistan’s cricketers are training in Kabul amid the Taliban takeover.

Despite the chaos and turmoil in the country, the team is preparing to face Pakistan in Sri Lanka next month.

They were pictured hard at work in the nets as they geared up for a three-match ODI series against the 1992 world champions, starting on September 3.

The Tablian seized control of Afghanistan last week following the withdrawal of US soldiers.

Currently, the military organisation has set a cut-off point of next Tuesday in which citizens will no longer be allowed to leave the country.

However, the G7 are set to hold a meeting in the hope of extending the deadline and to try and convince US President Joe Biden to delay the withdrawal of US Troops.

Taliban officials have reached out to Afghan national cricket team and assured them of their support. After the fall of Kabul, there were apprehensions that Taliban might impose a ban on cricket in Afghanistan. However Taliban officials said that they fully support the game and have offered their cooperation in holding of cricketing events.

Following the assurance, the members of Afghanistan Cricket Board resumed their practice sessions for the first time in Kabul after Taliban takeover.
