NFL -Stevie Facing Fine?
Stevie Johnson likely to be fined for Plaxico-inspired celebration
Posted by Mike Florio on November 28, 2011, 8:37 PM EST http://nbcprofootballtalk.files.word...nson.jpg?w=163 Reuters On Sunday, Bills receiver Stevie Johnson celebrated a touchdown by pretending to shoot himself in the leg (a la Plaxico Burress, three years ago tonight), before soaring like a Jet and and falling to the ground. The falling to the ground drew a penalty, which after Dave Rayner’s inexplicable failure to hit the ball squarely gave the Jets a short field. The faking of the shooting will result in an invasion of Johnson’s wallet. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Johnson likely will be fined for his antics, citing league rules that prohibit the simulation of any gun action. Last year, the NFL imposed a $5,000 fine on Johnson for displaying after scoring a touchdown against the Bengals a T-shirt that asked, “Why so serious?” (It was a reference to the Joker, given that former Bengals receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco dubbed themselves Batman and Robin.) That history could result in a more significant fine for his latest post-touchdown infraction. |
