Israel Launches Airstrikes in Lebanon and Gaza Strip After Biggest Rocket Salvo Since 2006

Israel Strikes Lebanon and Gaza After Major Rocket Attack

Rocket fire from Gaza and Lebanon and second Israeli raid on al-Aqsa mosque stoke fears of further escalation

BBC 7 APR 2023

Israel's military says it has struck targets linked to Palestinian militant group Hamas inside Lebanon and across the Gaza Strip.

The attacks come after a major rocket barrage on Israel from Lebanon, which the Israelis blamed on Hamas.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Hamas' "terrorist" infrastructure was hit in southern Lebanon.

Tensions are high after Israeli police raided Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque on consecutive nights earlier this week.

The mosque is Islam's third holiest site, and the Israeli raids have triggered violent confrontations with Palestinians inside and caused outrage in the wider region.

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was in Lebanon when the rockets were launched, said Palestinians would not "sit with their arms crossed" in the face of Israeli aggression.

In a statement early on Friday, the IDF tweeted that it had truck targets "including terrorist infrastructures belonging to Hamas in southern Lebanon".

The IDF added that it would not allow Hamas to operate from Lebanon and held Lebanon "responsible for every directed fire emanating from its territory".

In the Israeli border town of Shlomi, the rockets left craters in the road, and damaged vehicles and a bank

Hamas said it had no information about who fired the missiles from Lebanon on Thursday.

The attack was the biggest single barrage from Israel's northern neighbour in 17 years, with Israel reporting that most of the 34 rockets were intercepted - but that six caused damage to buildings.

Israeli warplanes also stepped up air strikes in Gaza, with around 20 missiles striking four new sites in 10 minutes. Palestinian militants also fired a new round of rockets at southern Israel, where warning sirens were heard sounding.

The Israeli jets attacked an underground weapons production site and three above-ground sites, the IDF spokesperson's unit was quoted as saying by the Jerusalem Post.

The Israeli airstrikes are said to be the heaviest since a round of fighting with Islamic Jihad in August 2022.

The Israeli response came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held an urgent security cabinet meeting.

In a televised address, he said: "We will hit our enemies and they will pay a price for all acts of aggression." He also called for a calming of tensions, adding "we will act decisively against extremists who use violence".

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned any military operations from the country's territory that "destabilise the situation".

The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon, Unifil, said the situation was "extremely serious" and urged "restraint and to avoid further escalation".

Israel Declares State of WAR as Hamas Militants Fire Thousands of Rockets From Gaza and Cross Border

Palestinian Militant Group Launches Massive Aerial and Ground Surprise Attack From The Gaza Strip

BBC 7 OCT 2023

Benjamin Netanyahu has declared Israel is “at war” after Hamas militants fired thousands of rockets from the Gaza Strip in the largest attack in years.

Palestinians celebrate as an Israeli military vehicle burns after it was hit by Palestinian gunmen

Palestinians broke into the Israeli side of Israel-Gaza border fence after Palestinian gunmen infiltrated areas of southern Israel

The surprise offensive has seen Hamas gunmen cross the border in attacks by land, sea and air, as warning sirens sounded across southern and central parts of Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and Israel’s prime minister called an emergency meeting.

In a rare public statement, Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif said 5,000 rockets had been fired into Israel to begin Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.

“We’ve decided to say enough is enough,” he said, urging all Palestinians to confront Israel, and adding: “This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth.”

A least 22 people have died and hundreds have been hospitalised with injuries, Israeli broadcaster N12 reported, with an Israeli local authority leader said to be among those killed in fighting.

The Israeli military said its forces were operating inside Gaza but gave no details, and defence minister Yoav Gallant approved the call-up of reservists.

“The military declares a state of war alert,” the military said in a statement. “In the last hour, the Hamas terrorist organisation had begun a massive shooting of rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, and terrorists infiltrated into Israeli territory in a number of different locations.”

Mr Netanyahu vowed to retaliate, saying: “Our enemy will pay a price the type of which it has never known,” he said. “We are in a war and we will win it.”

Residents in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip had been told to stay in their homes, the military said, adding that Hamas “will face the consequences and responsibility”.

The attack – which is the most serious since Israel and Hamas fought a 10-day war in 2021 – comes nearly 50 years to the day after Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a surprise assault on Israel at the outset of the 1973 war.

Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue agency said a 70-year-old woman was critically injured when a rocket hit a building in southern Israel. Elsewhere, a 20-year-old man was moderately injured by rocket shrapnel, it said.

Israeli media reported that gunmen had opened fire on passers-by in the town of Sderot, in southern Israel, and unverified footage circulating on social media appeared to show clashes in city streets as well as gunmen in jeeps roaming the countryside.

Palestinian media also reported that a number of Israelis had been taken captive by fighters and Hamas media circulated video footage apparently showing a destroyed Israeli tank.

Following the initial attack, which began at around 6:30am, a group representing military reservists who had planned to refuse to attend training over their objections to the Israeli government’s heavily contentious plans to overhaul the judiciary instead called on reservists to report for duty.

In a statement reported by Israeli media, Mr Gallant, Israel’s defence minister, said: “Hamas made a grave mistake this morning and started a war against the State of Israel. IDF soldiers are fighting the enemy at all the infiltration sites.”

Israeli opposition Leader Yair Lapid described the rocket attacks as “relentless”, adding in a statement that “Israel is in an emergency” and backing a “harsh military response” to Hamas’s attack.

The rocket fire comes during a period of heavy fighting in the West Bank, where nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military raids this year.

Israel says the raids are aimed at militants, but stone-throwing protesters and people not involved in the violence have also been killed. Palestinian attacks on Israeli targets have killed more than 30 people.

The tensions have also spread to Gaza, where Hamas-linked activists held violent demonstrations along the Israeli border in recent weeks. Those demonstrations were halted in late September after international mediation.

Hamas Blindsides Israel With Most Serious Attack in a Generation

Israel Faces Long Difficult War After Hamas Attack From Gaza

Israel Warns Gaza Residents Of Retaliatory Strikes

BBC 8 OCT 2023

Several rockets hit the southern city of Ashkelon. At least 40 Israelis have been killed

Israel launched a wave of air strikes on Gaza after Palestinian assault on its territory

The scale of what's been happening is unprecedented. Hamas breached the wire that separates Gaza from Israel in multiple places in the most serious cross-border attack Israel has faced in more than a generation.

It came a day after the 50th anniversary of the surprise attack by Egypt and Syria in 1973 that started a major Middle East war. The significance of the date will not have been lost on the Hamas leadership.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country is at war and will exact a heavy price from its enemies.

Videos and photos of dead Israelis, civilians as well as soldiers, are all over social media.

Other videos of armed men from Hamas hauling soldiers and civilians into captivity in Gaza have enraged and alarmed Israelis. The presence of Israeli hostages there means it will be even more complicated than previous incursions.

Within hours Israel was responding with air strikes into Gaza, killing many Palestinians. Its generals will be planning a ground operation next.

Israel Responds

Israel's military has warned that Hamas militants from Gaza are still fighting inside Israel after they infiltrated southern communities and left a reported 250 people dead.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told Israelis they are going into a "long and difficult war".

Hundreds of gunmen burst into southern Israel, killing soldiers and civilians, and taking into Gaza what the army said was a "significant number" of hostages.

Israel has responded with air strikes.

These have continued on Sunday morning, with the Israeli Air Force saying it was targeting "operational infrastructure" in Gaza.

Israel also carried out artillery strikes in Lebanon, following "shooting carried out a few minutes ago into Israeli territory", Israel Defense Forces said.

More than 200 people have been killed since Palestinian militants infiltrated the Israel border from Gaza on Saturday morning, according to Palestinian health officials.

Gazans received Israeli text messages overnight telling them to leave their homes and move to city centres or take refuge in shelters.

The Israeli prime minister said in an overnight message that the war had been "forced on us by a murderous attack by Hamas", and the first stage would end in the coming hours when most of the militants on Israeli territory had been wiped out. Israel would restore security to its citizens and win, he added.

The Israeli government also said it would cut off electricity, fuel and goods supplies to Gaza.

Israel's nightmare scenario - armed Palestinian militants at large in the south of the country - began early on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath and festival of Simchat Torah.

Gunmen cut through the Gaza perimeter fence, storming into Israel on motorbikes, paragliders and by sea. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman said the militants numbered in the high hundreds, while more than 3,000 rockets were fired across Israel across the the day.

"They attacked dozens of Israeli communities and IDF bases and went door to door, house to house," said Lt Col Jonathan Conricus.

"They executed Israeli civilians in cold blood in their homes and then continued to drag into Gaza Israeli civilians and military personnel. I'm talking women, children, elderly, disabled."

Israeli security forces reportedly killed several Palestinian militants in a gun battle near Ashkelon on Sunday

Israeli security forces are carrying out operations to rescue hostages taken by Palestinian militants from Gaza and clear areas they seized on Saturday.

The military said troops had secured 22 locations by Sunday morning but were still sweeping through another eight.

The surprise attack by hundreds of gunmen from Hamas, under the cover of intense rocket fire, has reportedly killed at least 600 people in Israel.

More than 370 people in Gaza have been killed in retaliatory Israeli strikes.

And 400 Palestinian gunmen have been killed and dozens arrested during the fighting in Israel, according to the Israeli military.

Saturday saw Israels' deadliest day of violence since the Yom Kippur war 50 years ago.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday night that Israel was going into a "long and difficult war". He also warned Hamas, which governs Gaza, that its hideouts would be reduced to "rubble".

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said it was on the "verge of a great victory".

Israel Military Says Situation Dire in South as 260 Bodies Retrieved From Festival. Its Like 9/11 & Pearl Harbour Wrapped Into One as Supernova Festival-Goers Describe Attack

BBC 9 OCT 2023

Shani Louk was paraded semi-naked in the back of a truck, through streets by Hamas SAVAGES
running alongside and spitting on her limp body.

Shani Louk was among the hundreds of victims in Israel when Hamas targeted the dance party near Kibbutz Urim and other Israeli communities.

Thousands of party-goers screamed in terror at the desert rave as the armed terrorists unleashed bloodshed early Saturday.

About 260 bodies have been recovered from the site of a music festival in southern Israel that was attacked by Hamas militants, as Israel’s military said fighting was ongoing in the region and described the situation as “dire”.

Late on Sunday, Israeli rescue service Zaka said it had retrieved hundreds of bodies from the Supernova festival, near Kibbutz Re’im close to Gaza. Shocking images and video from the site showed festival-goers running for their lives across open fields as Hamas gunmen attacked them and took hostages.

Early on Monday, Lt Col Jonathan Conricus, spokesperson for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), said in a video message “almost 48 hours into the fighting … the situation in Israel is a dire one”.

He said fighting was continuing in southern Israel and that the IDF estimated upwards of 1,000 Hamas militants entered Israeli territory in Saturday’s unprecedented offensive. He said 700 Israelis had been killed – civilians and military personnel – and more than 2,100 wounded. With a “high number of critically wounded people”, more deaths are expected, he said. It was not clear how many of the bodies from the festival were already included in Israel’s overall toll.

The Palestinian health ministry said 413 Palestinians, including 78 children, have been killed and 2,300 people wounded since Saturday. Nineteen members of one family were reportedly killed when an airstrike hit their home in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

A young tattoo artist has been identified as the woman whose body was paraded through the streets in the back of a pickup truck by Hamas terrorists after they attacked an outdoor music rager during their sneak assault on Israel Saturday morning.

Shani Louk was among the hundreds of victims in Israel when Hamas targeted the dance party near Kibbutz Urim and other Israeli communities.

The cruel attack in the Jewish state has led to the deaths of over 600 Israelis with more than 1,500 injured and dozens more kidnapped.

As disturbing footage of the violence quickly spread online, family members recognized Shani, in her early 20s, in a video, her first cousin told the Washington Post.

Armed terrorists chanted “Allahu Akbar” — Arabic for “God is Great” as they paraded her body around.

Her family tried calling her when they discovered that Hamas had crossed over from the Gaza Strip, cousin Tom Weintraub Louk reportedly said. At that point, they didn’t yet see the video of her.

“We knew she was in the party,” she told the newspaper. “She didn’t answer.”

The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier is heading to the region

The US says it is moving an aircraft carrier, ships and jets to the eastern Mediterranean and will also give Israel additional equipment and ammunition.

The United States and Britain have both pledged to aid Israel militarily in response to the attack on Saturday. Joe Biden deployed the US Navys’ most advanced aircraft carrier, six other ships and a number of advanced jets to the Eastern Mediterranean.

It follows the Hamas attack on southern Israel, which President Biden called an "unprecedented and appalling assault".

A US National Security spokesperson said several US citizens were among the dead.

Israel says more than 800 people have been killed and 100 kidnapped.

In Gaza, more than 400 people have been killed following retaliatory Israeli air strikes, according to Palestinian officials.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier, a missile cruiser and four missile destroyers were heading to the region. He said fighter jets would also be sent.

Further military aid to Israel would be sent in the coming days, the White House said, adding that the US was working to ensure Israel's enemies did not try to seek advantage from the situation.

The large deployment reflects American concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hamas could draw in other parts of the region.

In particular, the US is eager to prevent Lebanon's powerful Hezbollah movement from joining the conflict. It is backed by Iran, which also funds and arms Hamas.

Irans’ President Spoke With Leaders From Hamas and Islamic Jihad

Irans' President Ebrahim Raisi has expressed support for the Hamas attack, saying Israel needed to be held to account for endangering the region.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has spoken by phone with the leaders from militant groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He discussed Hamas’s offensive and the aftermath with Ismail Haniyeh, head of political affairs for Hamas, and Islamic Jihad’s secretary-general, Ziyad al-Nakhalah.

Hamas has said assistance from Iran helped it carry out its attack, which involved rockets, drones and militants on paragliders and saw hundreds of fighters break through Israeli border fortifications around the Gaza Strip.

Hamas planning to kidnap more Israelis

An Israeli granddaughter says that during Hamas' surprise weekend attack, a terrorist entered her grandmother's home in southern Israel, slaughtered her, then posted videos of her body onto her own Facebook page.

In a Facebook post, Mor Bayder explained her grandmother would usually text her every morning at 7 a.m. without fail.

But on Saturday, instead of receiving her grandmother's usual message — "My dear teacher, did you get up?" — she instead looked on her Facebook page and saw what she described as the "nightmare of my life."

In an interview with Israel's Channel 13, Bayder explained that a suspected Hamas militant uploaded a video of her dying grandmother lying on the floor, surrounded by a pool of her own blood.

"That's how we found out — that's how we learned about it," she said. "It won't leave us for the rest of our lives," Bayder added through tears.

Babies Killed in Hamas Attacks as Death Toll Passes 1,000

Babies have been killed in Hamas attacks on kibbutz as the Israeli death toll passed 1,000. Terrorists warned residents of Ashkelon to evacuate the city, which lies around eight miles from the border with Gaza, by 5pm local time in a cryptic message from the Al Qassam Brigades.

In response to the tragedy, General Richard Dannatt argues against an Israeli ground incursion into Gaza, claiming it will result in the death of large numbers of Palestinian civilians.

Hamas is threatening to execute one captured Israeli for every civilian house bombed without pre-warning. This as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel's retaliation against Hamas has only just begun and it will change the Middle East.

Babies Beheaded and Families Massacred at Home in Hamas Attacks

Hamas Attackers Have Beheaded Babies and Gunned Down Whole Families - Including an Estimated 40 Young Children - in Their Homes

Dozens of Hamas gunmen are said to have raided Kfar Aza kibbutz near the Gaza border, massacring residents and allegedly beheading babies during a sickening rampage

BBC 11 OCT 2023

Israeli soldiers remove the bodies of civilians in Kfar Gaza

Outside destroyed homes they described seeing the bodies of babies with their heads cut off. The soldiers were seen in video footage comforting each other after witnessing the horrors, with the stench of death said to be heavy in the air.

Members of Hamas had stormed the community killing hundreds of unarmed civilians before taking dozens hostage.
Around 70 members of the Palestinian militant group armed with guns and grenades are said to have stormed a small kibbutz near the Gaza border in southern Israel, before killing everyone in their path. Israeli troops say they found bodies laying strewn among burned out homes and torched cars in the quiet community of Kfar Aza today.

They moved house to house to take away the dead in body bags.

They had been unable to do so previously as they were still fighting off gunmen and disabling booby traps.

Israeli Major General Itai Veruv, speaking from the horrific scene, told i24News: "You see the babies, the mothers, the fathers, in their bedrooms, in their protection rooms and how the terrorist kills them. It's not a war, it's not a battlefield. It's a massacre, it's a terror activity. It is something that I never saw in my life. It's something that we used to imagine from our grandfathers, grandmothers in the pogrom in Europe and other places. It's not something that happens in new history."

i24News reporter at the scene Nicole Zedek said: "Some soldiers say they found babies with their heads cut off, entire families gunned down in their beds. About 40 babies and young children have been taken out on gurneys — so far."

One soldier shouted: "Tell the world what you saw here." Gunfire and explosions could be heard in the distance. The massacre at the Kfar Aza kibbutz is just one of many such barbaric acts committed by the terrorists since the surprise attack was launched on Saturday.

The BBC's Jeremy Bowen reports residents in Israeli border communities expected the occasional rocket attack after Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007. The preferred to retain their country life in small settlements with an understanding of the danger that could follow - and otherwise enjoyed a high quality of life.

Concrete shelters were constructed to accessed at short notice, while their homes had reinforced safe rooms. However, he writes: "No one - here in Kfar Aza or elsewhere in Israel - imagined Hamas would be able to breach Israel's defences and kill so many people. The horror and rage of Israelis has been mixed with incredulity that the state and the military failed in its fundamental duty to protect its citizens."

A house lies in ruins after an attack by Hamas militants on this kibbutz

GoPro footage emerged from the kibbutz of Be'eri earlier today showing gunmen shooting an Israeli family's dog before raiding their fridge and setting the home alight. The tiny farming community had a population of 1,000, with Israeli security forces and rescue workers later finding 108 bodies after a long standoff. Another clip, captured on CCTV, showed Hamas fighters gunning down civilians at point blank range as they sat in a car.

An estimated 1,500 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attacks since the weekend, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare war against the militant group and begin a campaign of crushing air strikes on Gaza.

At least 770 Gazans have since been killed in Israeli strikes, according to Gaza officials, while whole districts in the city have been flattened.

Air alert systems showed a huge number of red warnings in northern Israel, while sirens went off in every town.

The IDF alerted the nation to an “aerial intrusion” with unconfirmed reports saying it may include drones and paragliders. Giora Zaltz, a community leader in northern Israel said: “This is what we feared, what we were preparing for.”

The report suggests a new front may have opened in the war. But Israel rules out Lebanon invasion

Israeli Warplanes Pound Gaza & Demolish Neighbourhoods as Power Plant Runs Out of Fuel

Mr Netanyahu Said "EVERY Hamas Member is a DEAD Man" as He Introduced WAR Cabinet on TV.

Middle East to ERUPT Into Deadly Wars on Three Fronts...

BBC 12 OCT 2023

Israelis take cover from incoming rocket fire from the Gaza Strip

Rockets fired from the Gaza City (R) being intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome defence missile system

The Middle East is on the brink of full-scale WAR as Israel and Hamas stepped up attacks.

Tel Aviv is poised for a ground offensive on besieged Gaza while Hezbollah threatened from the north. On Wednesday Hamas attacked an Israeli children’s hospital and Gaza was pounded.

There are fears the bloodshed will only get worse with Tel Aviv preparing for a ground *offensive and Hezbollah threatening to launch more strikes on Israel from Lebanon and Syria.

Pope Francis called for peace and King Charles branded last week’s Hamas raid on Israel “appalling”. The militant group on Wednesday launched a rocket attack on a children’s hospital in Ashkelon, 45 miles south of Tel Aviv.

People were pictured running for cover as the missiles rained down on an array of other targets.

And Israel continued its retaliation strikes on Gaza, even though Hamas are holding an estimated 150 hostages snatched from Israel last week. Entire neighbourhoods were demolished, as hospitals ran low on supplies and Gaza’s only power plant ran out of fuel. Pictures emerged of children left injured by the strikes while others parts of Gaza city under rubble.

The Israeli blockade of the enclave, condemned by the UN, is only making things worse for the 2.1million people living there in poverty. Saturday’s attack on Be’eri kibbutz in Israel by Hamas sparked the latest bloody conflict. It left 1,200 people dead, including many at a music festival. Officials said 17 Brits are among those missing feared killed.

Ayelet Svatitzky, originally from Wakefield, West Yorks, told how Hamas taunted her by sending pictures of her mother Channah Peri, 79, and brother Nadav Popplewell, 51, being snatched, before killing her other brother Roi, 54. Ayelet, who has lived in Israel with her family for years now, said: “Someone used my mum’s phone to take the pictures of her and my brother, then sent them to me with a message saying: ‘Hamas’.

“That was the last I heard of them. My neighbour saw my mum being taken out. Then Roi, who lives in a different neighbourhood, was found. He was shot dead behind his house.” The death toll from Israeli strikes on Gaza has now reached 1,100.

But there appeared to be no let up in sight as defence minister Yoav Gallant said: “We will eliminate anyone who fights us, and use every measure at our disposal.”

Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu said “Hamas is worse than ISIS”. He shared an image of what appeared to be a childs’ bed covered in blood, although there was no location given.

Israel declared war on Hamas on October 8 following a shock land, air and sea assault

UPDATE:

UK Arranges Flights For Britons Stranded in Israel. The UK is Arranging Flights to Get British Nationals Out of Israel, The Foreign Office Has Said.

A British Airways Rescue Flight From London to Israel Has Already Been Forced to Turn Around Due to Escalating Tensions Between Israel and Hamas.

BBC 12 OCT 2023

Hamas's deadly attacks on Israel at the killed 1,200 people

The first plane will leave Tel Aviv on Thursday, with more planned "in the coming days, subject to security".

Those eligible to leave will be contacted directly and British nationals should not go to airports unless they are called to.

A team of UK diplomats trained to operate in crises has also been sent to Israel to assist British nationals.

The UK government said earlier this week it would not arrange evacuation flights because commercial routes were still available.

But British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Air France, Lufthansa and Emirates have all suspended flights in recent days.

The flights announced by the government will be arranged by the Foreign Office but are commercial services. Each passenger will be charged £300.

A statement said British nationals, including dual nationals, and dependants if travelling with a British national normally resident in the UK, would be invited to take up seats.

Britain will send two Royal Navy ships to the eastern Mediterranean and begin surveillance flights over Israel in a show of military support.

Israeli Military Has Told 1.1 Million in Gaza to Move Further South in 24 Hours as Israel Preps For Ground Offensive

Israel Blasting Howitzers Into Gaza Every 30 Secs Ahead of Bloody Ground Attack

Every 30 seconds 155 mm Howitzers are being blasted into the Palestine enclave as thousands of soldiers muster for the assault.

UN spokesperson says such a movement would have ‘devastating humanitarian consequences’ ; Palestinian death toll rises to 1,537, according to Gaza’s health ministry

BBC 13 OCT 2023

A howitzer

Israeli troops bracing to launch a bloody ground attack on Hamas militants have stepped up devastating artillery strikes on Gaza.

Every 30 seconds 155 mm Howitzers are being blasted into the Palestine enclave as thousands of soldiers muster for the assault. Members of terror-organisation Hamas are still being hunted five days after the horrific bloodbath in which more than 1,000 Israelis were killed, including women and children.

It is now feared that Palestinian civilians are losing their lives in Gaza, from the blasts and a total blockade on food, water and energy which threatens to starve locals and shut down hospitals. Israel’s energy minister Israel Katz, insisted: “Not a single electricity switch will be flipped on, not a single faucet will be turned on, and not a single fuel truck will enter, until the Israeli hostages are returned home.”

On Thursday we saw heavily armed troops combing hedge rows and culverts for Hamas gunmen who may remain outside Gaza. From as close to the front as it is possible to get, we watched the Israeli Defence Forces pummel Hamas targets with self-propelled Howitzers.

The US-made killing machines are placed in fields close to the border and surveillance drones and spotters are used to pick out terrorist targets. Deafening booms rang out as targets were called in, each explosive shell carrying enough punch to smash down a house.

Huge clouds of smoke wafted across the fields close to where Hamas slaughtered 260 people at an Israeli music festival on Sunday. There have already been hundreds of Palestinian civilians killed, including children, and hospitals in Gaza are overflowing with casualties.

But it seems, innocents on both sides will continue to die after the attacks by Hamas, which has ruled Gaza for 16 years. What we witnessed are the opening salvos of war, softening up Hamas as thousands of infantry lie in wait to storm the hellscape their guns and planes have left.

lsrael’s forces are gathering despite fears that Lebanese Hezbollah fighters to the north are preparing for battle, possibly putting Israel in a three-fronted war. At least 100 “reservists and active duty soldiers” are understood to have travelled from the UK to serve in the IDF, the Israeli Embassy in the UK said.

Every 30 seconds 155 mm Howitzers are being blasted into the Palestine enclave

Israeli strikes have also hit airports of the Syrian capital Damascus and its northern city of Aleppo, damaging their runways a day before Iran’s foreign minister was scheduled to visit Syria. Israel has targeted airports and sea ports in Syria in an apparent attempt to prevent arms shipments from Iran to militant groups backed by Tehran, including Hezbollah.

UK citizens have been advised to flee Israel, with organised flights to help British nationals leave. The first flight is expected to leave the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Thursday, the Foreign Office said, with more in the coming days subject to the security situation.

The UK has also sent a rapid deployment team to assist British citizens on the ground. Family members of British diplomats are leaving Israel as a “precautionary measure”, and the Foreign Office has advised against all but essential travel to Israel.

The war has so far claimed at least 2,400 lives, among them at least 17 UK nationals reported dead or missing, including children, with Jake Marlowe, 26, the latest to be named. It is believed more than 300,000 Israeli reservists have been called up but it is not known how many have been deployed for the conflict around and in Gaza.

It is believed they will bolster an army of more than 100,000 troops. Many will be deployed to flashpoints such as the northern front with Lebanon and securing places such as areas close to the West Bank. Health Secretary Steve Barclay said Israel has “the right to do everything it can” to rescue hostages in Gaza.

Mr Barclay said: “We think international law obviously should be followed and civilian casualties should be minimised. “But we should also be very clear that the reason for this situation is because Hamas has taken hostages into Gaza and the Israeli Government has the right to do everything it can to rescue those hostages.”

Militants in Gaza are holding an estimated 150 people snatched from Israel....

The former head of MI6, Sir Alex Younger, urged Israel not to do “what your enemy wants” and warned violent retaliation could create more terrorists. International aid groups said people could die in Gaza with the passage of food, water, fuel and medicine halted.

International Committee of the Red Cross senior official Fabrizio Carboni said: “As Gaza loses power, hospitals lose power, putting newborns in incubators and elderly patients on oxygen at risk. Kidney dialysis stops, and X-rays can’t be taken. Without electricity, hospitals risk turning into morgues.”

Gaza’s biggest hospital, Al-Shifa, has only enough fuel to keep power on for three days, said Matthias Kannes, an official for Doctors Without Borders. There have been calls for corridors to be established to allow aid in and civilians out.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke to Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi yesterday and offered the UK’s support to try to keep the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza open for aid.

Palestinians in Gaza lined up outside bakeries after spending the night in pitch darkness surrounded by the ruins of destroyed neighbourhoods. People fleeing air strikes could be seen running through the streets carrying their belongings. Hundreds of thousands have crowded into UN-run schools while others are staying with relatives or even strangers who let them in.

A ground offensive in Gaza, whose 2.3 million residents are densely packed into a strip of land only 25 miles long, would be Israel’s first since the 2014 war and would likely result in a surge of casualties on both sides. Military spokesman Lt Col Richard Hecht said forces “are preparing for a ground manoeuvre if decided”, but claimed the political leadership has not yet ordered one.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “crush and destroy” Hamas with the support of a new war cabinet formed this week. The tough-talking right-winger, claimed: “Every Hamas member is a dead man.”

The Israeli military said overnight strikes targeted Hamas’s elite Nukhba forces, including command centres used by the fighters who attacked Israel on Saturday. The home of a senior Hamas naval operative was also hit. Lt Col Hecht said: “We are focused on taking out their senior leadership. Not only the military leadership, but also the governmental leadership, all the way up to top Hamas leader Yehiyeh Sinwar. They were directly connected.”

The Hamas-run Interior Ministry said Israeli strikes demolished two multi-storey houses on top of residents without warning, killing and wounding “a large number” of people, mainly civilians. Hamas has threatened to kill Israeli hostages if Israel strikes Palestinian civilians without warning.

Militants in Gaza are holding an estimated 150 people snatched from Israel - soldiers, men, women, children and older adults - and have fired thousands of rockets into Israel. Israel says roughly 1,500 Hamas militants had been killed outside Gaza, and that hundreds of the dead inside Gaza are Hamas members.

As we watched the artillery barrage, more troops arrived for the secret staging position ahead of a ground attack. It seems impossible that the offensive will not happen. And the world will watch nervously for the reaction of the rest of the Middle East – particularly Lebanon, Syria and Iran

A ground offensive in Gaza would be Israel’s first since the 2014 war

UN Says Tens of Thousands Have Fled South in Gaza as Palestinians search for casualties under the rubble ... - EU: Evacuation order is ‘utterly impossible’

Basim Naim, Hamas' head of international relations

Hamas used a rare pre-recorded English language press conference to claim it had given “clear instructions” to its fighters not to target civilians as it sought to counter waves of international condemnation. Other Hamas officials have claimed the 260 party-goers massacred at the Supernova festival on Saturday may have been mistaken for “resting” soldiers.

Basim Naim, the terrorist groups’ head of international relations, insisted its gunmen were “keen to avoid harming civilians” - in an apparent desperate and easily-disproved attempt at media management.

Israeli Tanks Enter Gaza as Airstrikes Wipe Out Hamas 'Kill List'

ISRAEL confirmed its troops and tanks have already crossed into Gaza, searching for hostages ahead of their full-scale invasion.

It comes after days of air strikes that have been successfully wiping out its Hamas kill list, an ex-British colonel has revealed.

Israel's military announced tonight that they had been carrying out "localised raids" into Gaza for the last 24 hours to "cleanse the area of terrorists and weapons".

Infantry and tank units took part in a mission to locate rocket crews and hostages, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised briefing.

But it is understood the full-scale invasion has not yet begun.

For days on end, Israeli troops have been pounding terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip, sparking fresh chilling threats of revenge from both Iran and Hezbollah.

Colonel Richard Kemp told The Sun: "I've watched an artillery battery firing mission against terrorists in Gaza yesterday."

The former commander of troops in Afghanistan added: "And so far I believe that the IDF operations have been very successful.

"They've been making their way down [their] target list of terrorist leaders."

Kemp also noted Israel's success in wiping out "terrorist infrastructure", including communication centres, ammunition dumps and missile launchers.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Nethanyahu has vowed that “every Hamas member is marked by death".

It comes as Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah has insisted it is "fully prepared" to join Hamas in its bloody war with Israel.

Foreign powers have urged Hezbollah to stay put on the sidelines - but deputy chief Naim Qassem vowed to join "when the time comes for action".

He told supporters gathered in the southern Beirut suburb: "Hezbollah knows its duties perfectly well. We are prepared and ready, fully ready, and be are following developments moment by moment."

The group has already clashed with Israel across the Lebanese border multiple times in the past week.

Qassem added: "We will contribute to the confrontation within our plan... when the time comes for any action, we will carry it out."

Now, Iran has joined in on the threats, warning that "new fronts" will open up if its "war crimes" in Gaza continue.

Israel Continues to MURDER Innocent Palestinians in Gaza and NOT Many HAMAS

BBC 15 OCT 2023

In a tense escalation of the ongoing conflict, leaflets had been dropped in Gaza, warning more than 1 million citizens to evacuate the northern regions as Israel's military gears up for a significant deployment.

Amidst these developments, foreign powers have pleaded with Hezbollah, the Lebanese terrorist group, to stay on the sidelines.

However, Deputy Chief Naim Qassem defiantly pledged the group's active participation, "when the time comes for action".

Addressing a crowd in the southern Beirut suburb, Qassem dismissed behind-the-scenes efforts by global powers, Arab nations, and United Nations envoys to deter Hezbollah's involvement.

He said: "The behind-the-scenes calls with us by great powers, Arab countries, envoys of the United Nations, directly and indirectly telling us not to interfere will have no effect.

"Hezbollah knows its duties perfectly well. We are prepared and ready, fully ready, and be are following developments moment by moment."

Hamas Stops Civilians Leaving After Israel Warned They Have 24 Hours to Flee Gaza

It Comes After Israels' Military Told Some One Million Palestinians on Friday to Evacuate Northern Gaza-(IMPOSSIBLE as Many DID NOT Have Transport to Do So)

This intel has been corroborated by an additional source in Gaza City. However, a senior Hamas official denied this is happening when Fox News Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst asked via text message, calling it "technically impossible".

It comes after Israels’ military told some one million Palestinians on Friday to evacuate northern Gaza and head to the southern part of the besieged territory, an unprecedented order applying to almost half the population ahead of an expected ground invasion against the ruling Hamas militant group.

The UN had warned that so many people fleeing en masse — with just a 24-hour deadline — would be calamitous.

Palestinians have come forward, whilst under siege from Israel, to donate blood.

The Gaza Minister of Health called for "urgent blood donations" amid the ongoing Israeli airstrikes as casaulties and injured rack up and their medical supplies run low.

Ordinary Gazans caught up in Israel's war against Hamas were pictured at the Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza, donating blood.

Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel's armed forces "are ready to act at any moment, to exterminate the bloody monsters that rose up against us" as a ground invasion of Gaza draws ever closer.

The Israeli prime minister spoke ahead of a cabinet meeting to discuss the country's latest moves in the wake of the October 7 attacks by Hamas militants that killed 1,300 Israelis, mainly civilians. He vowed: "Hamas thought we would break up - we will break up Hamas".

As many as 10,000 Israeli troops including those in armoured units are poised on the borders awaiting the order to advance. One of their main objectives is to hunt down and neutralise a Hamas commander branded Palestine's answer to Osama bin Laden, Yahya Sinwar, 60, current head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and said by Israel to have directed the October 7 attack.

IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht said the military is putting a huge amount of resources into removing Sinwar as the head of the organisation, with some local outlets saying as many as 10,000 troops will be deployed. Lt. Col. Hecht explained: “That man is in our sights. He’s a dead man walking, and we will get to that man.” The army chief continued, saying that Sinwar was the "mastermind behind this, like bin Laden was."

Civilians are still trying to flee Gaza while the deadline to evacuate the besieged territory set by Israel has passed, with hundreds of thousands of the region's 2.3 million civilians streaming out of northern cities and towns.

Last night, Israel's chief military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields as he confirmed that Israel will "attack Gaza City very broadly soon". UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said today that around 10 British people dead or missing was not an “unreasonable estimate”.

Hundreds of thousands of civilians have been heading south during the evacuation window in which Israel vowed they would have safe passage. Despite the assurances, a convoy carrying women and children was bombarded with horrific footage showing innocent bodies strewn around the city streets. It has yet to be establish who was responsible for the attack.

Overnight, sustained blistering airstrikes flattened entire neighbourhoods in Gaza, with footage emerging this morning of rescuers desperately sifting through the rubble to find their loved ones.

Biden says most Palestinians 'nothing to do' with Hamas attacks as Israel invasion looms

US President Joe Biden has released a statement in support of Palestinians who face being caught up in brutal attacks by Israel's army following Hamas' terrorist attack last week.

In a post on social media, Mr Biden claimed that most Palestinians have 'nothing to do' with Hamas, yet they are facing what he said was the consequence of its terrorist attacks. The post read: "We must not lose sight of the fact that the overwhelming majority of Palestinians had nothing to do with Hamas’s appalling attacks, and are suffering as a result of them."

It comes as the death toll of the devastating war that has menaced for nine days now is rising dramatically. On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents sought to heed Israel’s order to evacuate roughly the northern half of the territory, while others huddled at hospitals in the north.

Gaza’s 2.3 million civilians are facing a deepening struggle for food, water and safety, and are braced for a looming invasion.

Israeli forces, supported by a growing deployment of US warships in the region, positioned themselves along Gaza’s border and drilled for what Israel said would be a campaign by air, land and sea to dismantle the militant group.

Israel Strikes Lebanon After Hezbollah Attacks Israel

Second US Carrier Group Deployed to Prevent Escalation

BBC 15 OCT 2023

Israel Strikes Lebanon After Hezbollah Attacks-2nd US Carrier Group Sent to Prevent Escalation

USS Eisenhower sent to region to deter anyone ‘seeking to escalate’ war after Hamas attack

The United States has deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean “to deter hostile actions against Israel or any efforts toward widening this war”, as residents of Gaza City fled south to escape an expected Israeli ground attack in response to a murderous rampage by Hamas last weekend that left at least 1,300 people dead.

The US defence secretary, Lloyd Austin, said late on Saturday that the presence of the USS Eisenhower and its affiliated warships in the eastern Mediterranean signalled Washington’s “ironclad commitment to Israel’s security and our resolve to deter any state or non-state actor seeking to escalate this war”.

The White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, warned against a new front on the Israel-Lebanon frontier and added: “We can’t rule out that Iran would choose to get directly engaged some way. We have to prepare for every possible contingency.”

Iran is a long-time backer of Hamas and also Hezbollah in Lebanon, which has exchanged fire with Israel over the past few days. “That is a risk and that’s a risk that we have been mindful of since the start,” he told CBS news.

“It’s why the president moves so rapidly and decisively to get an aircraft carrier into the eastern Mediterranean … a very clear message to any state or any actor that would seek to exploit this situation.”

The Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, was quoted by the semi-official Fars news agency on Sunday as saying “the hands of all parties in the region are on the trigger” if Israel does not end its “aggressions”.

The Palestinian health ministry said 2,670 people had been killed and more than 9,600 wounded in Gaza, surpassing in one week the numbers killed by Israeli bombardments over a period of six weeks in 2014.

“The situation is unprecedented. I’m not even going to call it a humanitarian crisis. It’s one of humanitarian collapse,” said an international aid worker based in Gaza, who said they wanted to sound the alarm but asked not to be named.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reiterated calls for civilians to move south of the Gaza River, demanding the displacement of an estimated 1.1m people. The Israeli military said hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had headed south so far, and that a third road had been identified as a “safe route” on Sunday.

Some who had fled south of the Gaza River described such poor conditions that they knew others who had gone back to Gaza City.

Israeli artillery shelled Lebanon on Sunday after Lebanese Hezbollah fighters launched a missile at an Israeli northern border village killing at least one person and wounding three others, the militant group and Israeli medics said.

The Israeli military said it was striking in Lebanon in retaliation and it declared a zone within 4km (2 miles) of the Lebanese border off-limits to public access. Hezbollah said in a statement the attack was in retaliation to Israeli shelling. The possibility of a new front in Lebanon brings back bitter memories of a vicious month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006 that ended in a stalemate and a tense detente between the two sides

Israel will ‘destroy’ Lebanon if war spreads. Israel Strikes Lebanon After Hezbollah Attack.

Tzachi Hanegbi, an Israeli national security adviser, has issued a warning to Hizbollah, threatening the “destruction of Lebanon” if the Iran-backed group launched further attacks on Israel.

This came after anti-tank rockets fired by Hizbollah killed one person in northern Israel, which led to retaliatory strikes by the Israeli Defence Force. Abbie Cheeseman, our reporter in Beirut, has an analysis on Hassan Nasrallah, Hizbollah's leader in Lebanon and the man seen as capable of igniting a wider war in the region.

Israel Defense Forces International Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus says the war will end with the “full and unconditional surrender” of Hamas.

“Our plan is to dismantle Hamas and its military capabilities,” he told Sky News Australia.

“How that will be done? We’ll see, but that is the aim.”

The Israel-Gaza conflict has intensified, with the death toll continuing to grow each day.

The Israeli military is preparing to attack Gaza by air, land and sea, with an invasion expected at any time.

Hospitals in Gaza are expected to run out of generator fuel within two days, according to the UN, as an estimated 35,000 people are crammed into Gaza City's main hospital Shifa.

Medics have warned that thousands could die as hospitals packed with wounded people run desperately low on fuel and basic supplies

ANOTHER Hamas Commander who led attacks on kibbutz killed in Israel airstrike -

The Israeli Defence Forces claim they have killed ANOTHER commander in Hamas’ elite Nukhba forces who they believe was behind the Kibbutz Nirim and Nir Oz massacres last weekend.

Qatar Houses Hamas Bosses - Time To Call Out Qatar?

How Tiny Qatar Hosts The Leaders of Hamas Without Consequences...

Qatar Leading Talks to Swap Hamas-Held Hostages For Palestinians in Israeli Jails

CBC 18 OCT 2023

In this picture released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, left, meets with Ismail Haniyeh, one of the leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, in Doha, Qatar on Oct. 14, 2023

An analysis by Evan Dyer describes how the leaders of Hamas are nowhere near the current conflict.

On Oct. 7, as Hamas gunmen rampaged across southern Israel, a group of middle-aged men in a luxury suite in Doha, Qatar, gathered in front of a camera.

Hamas leaders, led by Ismail Haniyeh, recorded themselves showing surprise about the attacks from the news on a large-screen television, and then kneeling to give thanks to Allah for the success of the operation.

This episode served as a reminder that while civilians in Gaza die in the hundreds from aerial bombing and tens of thousands more are rendered homeless, Hamas's leaders exist above the fray in air-conditioned comfort 2,000 kilometres away as guests of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

But they are not the only guests of Qatar....

Just a few minutes' drive away from the hotels and villas housing Hamas leaders is Al Udaid Air Base, home to the U.S. military's Central Command. Washington's relationship with Qatar is so close that last year the White House officially designated the tiny emirate a "Major Non-NATO Ally" of the United States.

On Monday evening, according to the government of Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a phone conversation with Qatar's Emir Al-Thani.

Those who cover Canadian foreign relations have learned not to give much weight to Ottawa's anodyne readouts (descriptions of official calls), which often omit important information and are sometimes misleading. The account from the Qatari side is equally opaque.

Neither the Canadian government readout nor the Qatari one mention anyone raising the presence of Hamas' leadership in Qatar during the call.

CBC News asked the Prime Minister's Office if Trudeau had indeed spoken with the Emir without mentioning the issue of Hamas's presence in Qatar, but did not receive an answer.

An official in Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly's office told CBC News, "I can say that it has not been raised by the minister."

Qatar's embassy in Canada did respond, although it did not reveal details of the Trudeau-Thani conversation. The embassy told CBC News that Qatar condemns "all forms of targeting civilians" and that "killing innocent civilians, especially women and children, and practising the policy of collective punishment are unacceptable."

Qatar Leading Talks to Swap Hamas-Held Hostages

Qatari mediators have held urgent calls with Hamas officials to try to negotiate freedom for Israeli women and children seized by the militant group and held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 36 Palestinian women and children from Israel's prisons

Israel and Hamas WAR; SAVE The GAZA Children -Relief Convoy Too Little Too Late

Could Other Countries Get Involved & Lead to World War Three?

BBC 20 OCT 2023

World War Three?

If Iran gets directly involved in the conflict, would that prompt the US and its allies to directly join the war? And could this lead to a third world war?

Jeremy Bowen, our international editor, reporting from southern Israel, says:

When asked about the possibility of intervention by Iran or its Lebanese ally Hezbollah, Joe Biden said:
"Don't."

The Americans just deployed two aircraft carrier battle groups to the eastern Mediterranean to send a very firm message to Iran to stay out.

They're saying that if anyone intervenes, they will have American military might to reckon with, not just Israel's.

One of the major fault lines in the Middle East runs between the US and its allies, and the Iranians and theirs.

Both sides are aware of the risks. If it went from a cold to a hot war it would ignite a Middle East conflagration of global significance.

And unlike the Islamic State group, Hamas is also a political and social organisation embedded in Palestinian society.

A military onslaught can destroy its metal and concrete but not the mettle of the people whose resolve to die for their cause will only harden.

Israels’ War Against Gazas’ Children

More than 100 children have been killed every day since Israel started bombing the besieged Palestinian enclave on October 7.

One child is killed every 15 minutes in the Israeli bombings of Gaza, highlighting the toll the current war has exacted on children.

More than 100 children have been killed every day since Israel started bombing the besieged Palestinian enclave on October 7 in the wake of the deadly Hamas attack. More than 3,400 Palestinians have been killed in the deadliest Israeli assault in decades.

Vital Gaza Aid Delivery to Be Delayed, as Palestinians Face Worsening Conditions

Humanitarian aid supplies destined for Gaza civilians remain in limbo, as concerns rise about the rapidly worsening conditions for the population stuck in the besieged enclave.

Multiple sources told CNN on Thursday that the critical Rafah Crossing is no longer expected to open Friday for a first convoy of aid.

“I would not put money on those trucks going through tomorrow,” one source familiar with the discussions told CNN, explaining that the situation was “volatile.”

The situation remains fluid, US officials said. Road repairs are needed on the Egyptian side of the crossing and there are concerns about making sure the deliveries can be sustained, and are not a one-off.

The entire population of Gaza has been cut off from supplies of electricity, food, fuel and water for over a week under a “complete siege” ordered by Israel in the wake of Hamas’ October 7 terror attacks.

Israeli warplanes’ relentless bombardment has left hundreds of thousands homeless and sparked growing protests across the Middle East, heightening fears that the war could spiral into a wider regional conflict.

A deal between Egypt and Israel to allow some aid into Gaza was struck by US President Joe Biden on Wednesday. Speaking on his way back from visiting Israel, Biden said his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had agreed to open the Rafah Crossing into Gaza

Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), says the Israeli military will "deepen" and "increase" its strikes on Gaza. At a press conference, he told reporters this would allow Israel to "minimise the risks to our forces in the next stages of the war" - and it would happen "from today"

Hagari also repeated a call for residents of Gaza City to move to the south of the region, saying it was for their own safety

The warning comes on the same day aid was allowed into Gaza, from Egypt, for the first time since the Israel-Hamas war erupted. Despite some leaders celebrating the move, the UN called the aid a "drop in the ocean" of what's needed

Judith and Natalie Raanan: Hamas frees two US hostages. Brig Gen Gal Hirsch, together with members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), received the two hostages from Hamas at the boundary of the Palestinian enclave on Friday evening, said the Israeli prime minister's office.

The father of freed US hostage Natalie Raanan - who was held captive by Hamas for almost two weeks - has spoken to the BBC. He said his daughter, 17, is a "tough girl" and that "it'll take time for her to get back to normal ... but she'll be fine"

It's two weeks since Hamas launched its assault on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people. Palestinian officials say more than 4,000 have been killed in Gaza since then

The Forgotten Israeli Hostages Kept by Hamas in Gaza For Years

Israeli campaigners urge the release of Avera and the bodies of dead soldiers Oron Shaul (C) and Hadar Goldin (R) - August 2022. After secret negotiations in 2011 Israel got the abducted soldier Gilad Shalit back - but in exchange for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners held in its jails.

The anguish over some 200 people kidnapped by Hamas in its brutal attack on Israel is in the spotlight - but Hamas has been holding at least two Israelis for years.

Very little has been heard about Ethiopian-Israeli Avera Mengistu and Bedouin Arab Israeli Hisham al-Sayed, seized in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

The relatives of two dead Israeli soldiers are also tormented by the fact that Hamas has been holding their remains in Gaza since 2014. Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul were killed during a war between Israel and Hamas that year.

Hamas - backed by Iran and regarded by Western nations as a terrorist group - has previously demanded a high price for releasing captive Israelis. They are used as Hamas bargaining chips.

Aviram Shaul, brother of Oron, says that for nearly 10 years his family has had no news from Hamas about where it is keeping Oron's body, no sign that Oron will be returned.

In 2014 the army found Oron's helmet and bulletproof vest in a Hamas tunnel in Gaza. But since then, Aviram told the BBC, "I feel Israelis forgot about them [the two dead soldiers]".

"Now is a good chance to bring my brother back, because we're talking about 200 families with relatives held hostage in Gaza. The government did not do enough to bring my brother back, but now they have to make a big effort."

He said now "Israel needs to do a humanitarian deal to get the hostages out". "If Hamas wants electricity, water, they must give us the hostages and soldiers' bodies and Israel does nothing if they don't want to."

Movies re: US Strikes Syria -Targeted Weapons, Munitions & Iranian-Backed Groups

How Far Would The US Go to Defend Israel?

Hamas Releases Two Elderly Israeli Women Hostages -Now in Tel Aviv Hospital

BBC 24 OCT 2023

The US has pledged its unwavering support to Israel and backed that up with military aid. But with the scars of past entanglements in the region still being felt, where is the limit to US involvement?

In his first reaction to the attack on Israel by Hamas, President Biden made clear whose side he's on: "The United States has Israel's back," he said.

"To anyone thinking of taking advantage of the situation, I have one word: Don't," he added.

This warning was clearly aimed at Iran and its allies.

US troops in Iraq and Syria have been attacked several times in recent days, the Pentagon says, and a US destroyer in the Red Sea intercepted missiles fired from Yemen which were "potentially" aimed towards Israel.

The US already has a carrier strike group in the Eastern Mediterranean, soon to be joined by another in the region. Each aircraft carrier has more than 70 aircraft on board - considerable firepower. Mr Biden has also placed thousands of US troops on standby to move to the region if required.

The US is Israel's largest military backer, providing about $3.8bn of defence aid a year.

The Israeli jets bombing Gaza are American-made, as are most of the precision-guided munitions now being used. Some of the interceptor missiles for Israel's Iron Dome air defence system are also produced in the US.

The US was sending re-supplies of those weapons even before Israel requested them. And on Friday President Biden asked Congress to approve $14bn funding for its Middle Eastern ally's war chest as part of a $105bn (£87bn) military aid package.

The following day, the Pentagon announced it would send two of its most powerful missile defence systems to the Middle East - a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and additional Patriot batteries.

But would a US president really be willing to become embroiled in another war, especially in an election year? Recent US military adventures in the region have proved costly - politically, economically and in terms of American lives.

Hamas Releases Two Elderly Israeli Women Hostages

Hamas on Monday released two elderly Israeli hostages for what it said were humanitarian reasons.

The release of Yocheved Lif****z, 85, and Nurit Cooper, 79, comes just days after Hamas released an American mother and her teenage daughter from captivity. The group is still holding more than 200 people, including Americans, hostage, according to Israeli officials.

The latest release came after mediation efforts by Egypt, a spokesperson for Hamas said on Telegram. The initial Hamas announcement also cited Qatar, but the spokesperson later deleted the reference to the Gulf country.

The Israeli Prime Ministers' Office issued a statement thanking Egypt and the Red Cross for helping in the release of the two hostages.

Israeli officials said that the families of Lif****z and Cooper have been notified. The officials added that the husbands of the two women were also kidnapped by Hamas militants and haven't been released.

Israeli Ground Forces Roll Into Gaza to Attack Doomed Hamas

Israels' Army Radio claims the countrys' ground forces carried out the biggest ground incursion of the war so far, with IDF troops targeting "terror infrastructure" in Gaza using tanks

BBC 26 OCT 2023

Children hurt in GAZA strikes

Israeli forces carried out a "relatively large" ground incursion overnight using tanks and targeting "terror infrastructure", as a bigger offensive loomed after more than two weeks of heavy air raids.

The raid came after the United Nations warned it is on the verge of running out of fuel in the Gaza Strip, forcing it to sharply curtail relief efforts in the territory, which has also been under a complete siege since Hamas' bloody rampage across southern Israel ignited the war earlier this month. During the overnight raid, the military said soldiers struck fighters, militant infrastructure and anti-tank missile launching positions. There were no immediate reports of casualties on either aide.

It comes after Benjamin Netanyahu said during a live TV address last night the IDF was "getting prepared" for a ground invasion, having previously vowed to destroy Hamas. The rising death tolls in Gaza are unprecedented in the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Even greater loss of life could come if Israel launches an expected ground offensive aimed at crushing Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007 and survived four previous wars with Israel.

The Gaza Health Ministry says more than 6,500 Palestinians have been killed in the war. That figure includes the disputed toll from an explosion at a hospital last week. The fighting has killed more than 1,400 people in Israel and Hamas also holds some 222 hostages in Gaza.

Mediator Qatar - Sheikh Mohammed has provided an update on negotiations to secure further releases of those held in Gaza.

Qatar hopes to “soon” secure the release of about 50 hostages held by Hamas in next stage of negotiations between the terror group and Israel.

Movies re: Iran Threatens-‘US WONT Be Spared’ as US Strikes Syrias' Weapons & Iranian Groups

US Strikes on Syria Overnight Targeted Weapons and Munitions Storage Facilities

U.S. Airstrike in Syria: Biden Orders Attack on Iranian-Backed Groups

BBC 27 OCT 2023

US air strikes in Syria overnight hit a weapons storage facility and an ammunition storage facility used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Cops and militia it backs, senior US officials said, saying it was unclear if Iranian nationals were killed.

The strikes took place at roughly 4.30 am on Friday in Syria (1.30am GMT) near Abu Kamal, a Syrian town on the border with Iraq, and were carried out by two F-16 fighter jets using precision munitions, one of the officials said.

“Iran-backed attacks against US forces are unacceptable and must cease. We are prepared to take further measures to protect our people if necessary,” a second official official said.

The scenes we are seeing unfold in Israel and Gaza mark a new chapter in the Middle East conflict. The consequences and scale of losses are already devastating, and the recent attack – and the war that now follows – is likely to shape global politics for years to come.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin on Targeted Strikes in Syria:

Today, at President Biden’s direction, US military forces conducted self-defence strikes on two facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. These precision self-defense strikes are a response to a series of ongoing and mostly unsuccessful attacks against US personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-backed militia groups that began on October 17.

As a result of these attacks, one US citizen contractor died from a cardiac incident while sheltering in place; 21 US personnel suffered from minor injuries, but all have since returned to duty. The President has no higher priority than the safety of US personnel, and he directed today’s action to make clear that the United States will not tolerate such attacks and will defend itself, its personnel, and its interests.

The United States does not seek conflict and has no intention nor desire to engage in further hostilities, but these Iranian-backed attacks against US forces are unacceptable and must stop. Iran wants to hide its hand and deny its role in these attacks against our forces. We will not let them. If attacks by Iran’s proxies against US forces continue, we will not hesitate to take further necessary measures to protect our people.

These narrowly tailored strikes in self-defence were intended solely to protect and defend US personnel in Iraq and Syria. They are separate and distinct from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, and do not constitute a shift in our approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

We continue to urge all state and non-state entities not to take action that would escalate into a broader regional conflict.

Iran Threatens US Saying It Will NOT be Spared if Conflict Continues

Palestine supporters rally in Tehran

Iran's foreign minister has threatened the US, saying that if Israel's bombardment of Gaza does not stop, America will "not be spared from this fire".

The incendiary comments came as minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke at the UN today. He said: "I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome [an] expansion of the war in the region.
"But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire."

Israel claims that its operations in Gaza are to root out Hamas - which is in control of the besieged territory - and to free the hostages taken during the attacks on October 7.

The US has been vocal in its support for its longstanding ally and has vowed to stand with them in light of the attacks.

The Earth Shook in Gaza Amid Israels Extremism Crackdown'

Gaza sees heaviest night of Israeli bombardment since start of war

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have experienced the heaviest night of Israeli bombardment since the war with Hamas began three weeks ago.

Hamas-run authorities said hundreds of buildings were destroyed in air and artillery strikes, and that at least 377 people were killed in the past day.

Israel's military said its warplanes hit 150 underground targets, including tunnels and other infrastructure.

Tanks and troops also went into the Strip and clashed with Hamas fighters.

The military said some soldiers would remain in the field, as Israel's defence minister declared that the war had entered a "new phase".

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had entered the second stage of the war with Hamas.

He said additional Israeli ground forces have gone into what he called "that stronghold of evil" - referring to Gaza - to "dismantle" Hamas and bring hostages home.

"This will be a long and difficult war," Netanyahu added.

BBC 31 OCT 2023

As Israeli troops step up their ground offensive, the United States has claimed that Hamas is blocking the exit of foreign nationals from the besieged city.

At least 200 British citizens are thought to be registered inside the Gaza strip, and some 600 Americans, as well as many other nationalities.

Witnesses report Salah al-Din Road cut as Israel expands assault, in apparent effort to divide strip in two

Witnesses said Israeli tanks had advanced to cut the main north-south Salah al-Din road south of Gaza City and were operating on the outskirts of the Zaytun district and Shejaiya neighbourhood of Gaza City.

Video taken by a local journalist was said to show an Israeli tank and bulldozer in central Gaza blocking the main highway and firing on cars, which were seen exploding.

Meanwhile, Israel said it had rescued a female soldier kidnapped during Hamas’s 7 October massacre in southern Israel.

The soldier was named as Ori Megidish, a private who serves as a border observer, who was rescued overnight on Monday in undisclosed circumstances. She was described as in good health following a reunion with her family.

Describing an increased tempo of urban fighting, the Israel Defence Forces spokesperson R Adm Daniel Hagari said Israeli troops were involved in fighting with armed Palestinian factions holed up in buildings.

“Overnight, troops eliminated dozens of terrorists who barricaded themselves in the buildings and tried to attack the forces that were moving in their direction,” he said, adding that fighting was continuing.

In one incident, the Israeli military said a fighter jet had targeted a building “with over 20 Hamas terrorist operatives inside”, while another fighter jet was guided to an anti-tank missile launching post in the area of al-Azhar University, it said. The university is in the heart of Gaza City.

The military also said it had hit “weapons depots, dozens of anti-tank missile launching positions, as well as hideouts and staging grounds used by the Hamas terrorist organisation”.

Israel Carries Out NEW Airstrike Late Saturday, This One on Maghazi Refugee Camp, Say Gaza Health Officials...

INTERNET & PHONE Services have been cut off AGAIN

BBC 5 NOV 2023

The Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza says more than 30 people were killed in an Israeli bombing of the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, Agence France-Presse reports.
Drone footage showed several buildings in a residential area flattened, as people waded through the rubble to retrieve people buried beneath it.

The camp is located in an area the Israeli Defence Force declared a safe zone for civilians fleeing northern Gaza, which has been the focus of its military operation against Hamas.

An Israeli military spokesperson said it was looking into whether the IDF had been operating in the area at the time of the bombing.

Biden repeats call for two-state solution

Strike on Gaza school leaves at least 50 dead

Israels' WARNING: 'Ready to Strike Entire Middle East' in Declaration to Iran and Hezbollah

A TOP Israeli general has vowed that Israel will hunt down every last Hamas terrorist.

The chief of Israel's air force, Major General Bar, said they are willing to take the fight "all over the Middle East" in a chilling warning to Iran and its terror proxies.

In a TV address today, Major General Tomer Bar, said: “We are hitting Hamas on the ground and below the ground.

"We have hit thousands of terrorists, and we will reach all of them."

He added: “The Air Force as the strategic arm of the State of Israel is prepared and operates all over the Middle East, in every required arena, anywhere."

Since Israel declared war on Hamas following their bloody October 7 cross-border killing spree, Iran-backed terror groups in Lebanon and Yemen have repeatedly threatened to open up new fronts in the conflict.

Lebanon's Hezbollah and Yemen's Houthi rebels are part of Iran's self-styled "Axis of Resistance" against Israel and have been striking both Israeli and US targets in "solidarity" with Hamas.

Hezbollah in particular has been pounding Israeli military positions in the country's north with mortar fire and suicide drones, while Israel has retaliated with warplanes, helicopters and missiles.

The border skirmishes have further fueled fears that the conflict may spiral into an all-out war across the Middle East.

On November 3, Irans leader Hassan Nasrallah broke his silence to warn Israel that against attacking Lebanon.

He fumed: "If the enemy starts to attack any Lebanon area they would make the hugest, the stupidest mistake.

"I'll say it with all the transparency, on our front, all options are open.

"We must be ready for all options."

He also praised Hamas's October 7 attacks as a "sacred operation" and called the terrorists who took part "martyrs".

Meanwhile on Wednesday, the US military claimed to have shot down a drone sent by Houthi militants that was hurtling its way towards their warship in the Red Sea.

The USS Thomas Hudner "engaged and shot down the drone to ensure the safety of US personnel. There were no US casualties or any damage to the ship," a statement read.

Mohammed Ali al-Huthi, a senior Houthi leader claimed that the aircraft belonged to them and that it "will reserve the right to respond to the destruction of its drone."

The incident comes after the US Navy shot down multiple missiles and drones last month that it said were fired by the Houthis, who control large swaths of Yemen.

The US has also carried out strikes on sites in Syria that were linked to Iran on three separate occasions in recent weeks, but the attacks on American forces have continued.

Irans most formidable ally, Hezbollah, has a terrifyingly strong military and political grip on Lebanon - and has already fought a devastating war against Israel in 2006 that claimed 1,200 lives.

It is one of the most heavily-armed, non-state groups in the world.

Jerusalem has long seen the Shi'ite Islamist group as a bigger threat than Hamas owing to their far more advanced weaponry, including precision-and long-range missiles.

Hezbollah has an estimated stockpile of 150,000 rockets and an army of 60,000 highly-trained soldiers battle-hardened after their brutal campaign in Syria to help prop up tyrant Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Experts believe it is in possession of hundreds of precision rockets that have ranges of up to 160miles and could strike any part of Israel.

Qatar Arranges Israel-Hamas Fighting Pause in EXCHANGE Swop -50 Hostages For 150 Prisoners Held in Israeli Jails

Israel and Hamas Agree Four-Day Ceasefire and Release of 50 Hostages Held in Gaza

Israel Will Release 150 Palestinian Prisoners From Israeli Jails - All Women and Children

BBC 22 NOV 2023

Israel soldiers transfer detained Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip

According to Hamas, Israel will release 150 Palestinian Prisoners, all women and children, from Israeli jails and allow hundreds of aid trucks a day to cross the Rafah border with Egypt, providing humanitarian supplies to Palestinians in Gaza.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron describing the Israel-Hamas agreement as “a crucial step” and urging parties to deliver the deal in full, he added:

'This pause provides an important opportunity to ensure much greater volumes of food, fuel and other life-saving aid can reach Gaza on a sustained basis.

We have already doubled our aid commitment to Palestinians this year and will work closely with the UN to ensure it reaches those who need it.'

Some more detail on the prisoners that Israel has listed for potential freedom. Although the deal appears to allow for 150 to be released, Israel’s government has named 300 people.

A BBC analysis of the list reports that “most are aged 17 or 18, with the overall age range 14-59. The majority of the detainees – 274 of 300 – are male.”

The offences they have been accused of include “attempted murder, throwing a bomb, creating an explosive or incendiary object, throwing stones, contact with a hostile organisation, grievous bodily harm and arson on nationalist grounds.”

The Times of Israel reports that the government has revealed more of the mechanism around release, with “the war cabinet of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, defence minister Yoav Gallant, and minister Benny Gantz to decide on the identity of prisoners to be released in each phase.”

It notes that “any Palestinian prisoners on the list who have not been released by the end of the exchanges will not be freed.”

That suggests an anxious period of waiting ahead for both Palestinian and Israeli families as they wait to see which hostages and detainees are cleared for return.

Hamas is thought to be holding about 240 Israelis that were abducted on 7 October.

Twenty-four hostages have been released by Hamas and are now back in Israel

Among them are 13 Israelis, 10 Thais and one Filipino, says Qatar, which has been mediating between Israel and Hamas. The Israelis include four children - aged two, four, six and nine - as well as an 85-year-old woman

Under the terms of the deal, a total of 50 Israeli hostages and 150 Palestinian detainees are meant to be released over four days during a temporary ceasefire

Biggest Aid Convoy Since War Started Enters Gaza From Egypt

How the Israel-Hamas Hostage Deal Came Together..

In the days immediately after the 7 October attack on Israel, a secret cell was set up to work for the release of some 240 hostages captured by Hamas.

So began an "extremely excruciating five-week process" involving four countries, co-ordination between spy masters and high stakes calls.

Israel and Hamas have now agreed that 50 Israeli women and children will be released over a four-day pause in the fighting, in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners, also women and children.

As the breakthrough deal was announced, the official described to journalists how it happened.

Qatar spearheaded the effort, he said, approaching Israel with a proposal to establish a cell that would work quietly and intensely on the issue. Doha acted as the main channel to Hamas, but Egypt was also part of the complex negotiating arrangement.

The first breakthrough came on 23 October, when Hamas released two American women. That was the "pilot" project, said the administration official, which "proved the concept".

After that, efforts for a larger release began in earnest.

Israel delegated the head of Mossad, David Barnea, as its negotiator

The process was painfully protracted because messages had to be passed from Doha or Cairo to Hamas in Gaza and then back out again.

And the talks were highly technical, painstakingly hammering out details on corridors, surveillance, timeframes and total numbers.

Movies re: Hamas Hostages Held in Horrific Hell & Suffered For Seven Weeks Captivity

13 More Hostages Released by Hamas Despite Agonising Delay

West Bank Crowds Celebrate as 39 More Palestinian Prisoners Freed

BBC 26 NOV 2023

A second group of Israeli hostages left Hamas captivity on Saturday, after hours of delay had increased the anxiety of desperate families.

The Israeli military said 13 Israelis were released in Gaza and in exchange 39 more Palestinian prisoners were released by Israel in the West Bank. Hamas also released four Thai hostages.

The first releases took place smoothly on Friday, under a temporary four-day truce deal brokered by Qatar.

Urgent talks saved Saturday's handover. The Israelis had been expected to be handed over to the Red Cross on Gaza's border with Egypt at 16:00 (14:00 GMT).

The Hamas armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, said there were issues over the delivery of aid to northern Gaza and the selection criteria for Palestinian prisoners being exchanged for captives held by Hamas. Israel denied violating the terms of the deal.

Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan said a total of 340 aid trucks had gone into Gaza since Friday, but only 65 had reached northern Gaza - which he said was less than half of what Israel had agreed on. Israel describes the north as a war zone and says the UN is responsible for delivering the aid.

Later a senior Palestinian official close to the talks confirmed Qatar's statement that the dispute had been resolved.

Thirty-nine Palestinian prisoners have been released from Israeli prisons as part of the hostage deal with Hamas.

Crowds came out to celebrate in the West Bank town of Beitunia as a bus carrying some prisoners drove through the streets. Some in the crowd were carrying the green flags of Hamas.

On the second day of the hostage deal, 13 Israeli hostages and four Thai nationals were also released.

Unhappy re: U.S Vetoes Israel Cease-Fire as Innocent Palestinians Stripped & Paraded in Gaza

Inside Horrific Conditions Hamas Hostages Suffered Including Losing 15lbs in 50 Days

Family members of Israeli hostages have spoken about the conditions their loved ones were kept in for seven weeks while being held captive by Hamas in Gaza after being kidnapped

BBC 27 NOV 2023

Plastic chairs as beds. Meals of bread and rice. Hours spent waiting for the bathroom. As former hostages return to Israel after seven weeks of Hamas captivity, information about the conditions of their confinement has emerged.

The 58 hostages freed under a cease-fire deal over the past three days have largely stayed out of the public eye, with most still in hospitals. Nearly two months after Hamas militants dragged them into Gaza during a bloody cross-border attack on Israel that also killed 1,200 people, most of the freed hostages appear to be in stable physical condition - but they endured horror conditions while in captivity.

Information about the conditions of their captivity has been tightly controlled, but family members of the released hostages have begun to share details about their loved ones’ experiences. Merav Raviv, whose three relatives were released by Hamas on Friday, said they had been fed irregularly and had eaten mainly rice and bread.

She said her cousin and aunt, Keren and Ruth Munder, had each lost around 7 kilograms (15 pounds) in just 50 days .Raviv said she’d heard from her freed family members that they had slept on rows of chairs pushed together in a room that looked like a reception area.

They said they sometimes had to wait hours before going to the bathroom. Adva Adar, the grandchild of 85-year-old released hostage Yaffa Adar, said her grandmother had also lost weight.

“She counted the days of her captivity,” Adar said. “She came back and she said, ’I know that I’ve been there for 50 days.’” Adar said that her grandmother was taken captive convinced that her family members were dead, only to emerge to the news that they had survived. Still, her release was bittersweet: She also found out that her house had been ravaged by militants.

“For an 85-year-old woman, usually you have your house where you raised your kids, you have your memories, your photo albums, your clothes,” said Adar. “She has nothing, and in her old age she needs to start over. She mentioned that it is tough for her.”

In the 50 days since the hostages were taken captive, Israel has devastated the Gaza Strip with a ground and air offensive that has killed at least 13,300 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-ruled territory.

Under the current four-day cease-fire, Hamas has agreed to release a total of 50 Israeli hostages in exchange for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian security prisoners and ramping up aid to the pummeled enclave

Hamas Training For Raid on Israel Revealed-Hamas Planned/Trained For Three Years

How Hamas Built a Force to Attack Israel on 7 October - The BBC Has Visually Identified TEN Groups

BBC Verify and BBC Arabic have established that Hamas held military exercises over three years and posted the evidence on social media.

BBC 28 NOV 2023

BBC has revealed that Hamas held multiple training exercises in Gaza, ahead of their deadly attack on Israel on 7th October which claimed 1,200 lives.

The Ocotober attack on Israel provoked retaliation which has led to the deaths of more than 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to the authorities there.

Five armed Palestinian groups joined Hamas in the deadly 7 October attack on Israel after training together in military-style exercises from 2020 onwards, BBC News analysis shows.

The groups carried out joint drills in Gaza which closely resembled the tactics used during the deadly assault - including at a site less than 1km (0.6 miles) from the barrier with Israel - and posted them on social media.

They practised hostage-taking, raiding compounds and breaching Israel's defences during these exercises, the last of which was held just 25 days before the attack.

'A Sign of Unity'

On 29 December 2020, Hamas's overall leader Ismail Haniyeh declared the first of four drills codenamed Strong Pillar a "strong message and a sign of unity" between Gaza's various armed factions.

As the most powerful of Gaza's armed groups, Hamas was the dominant force in a coalition which brought together 10 other Palestinian factions in a war games-style exercise overseen by a "joint operation room".

The structure was set up in 2018 to coordinate Gaza's armed factions under a central command.

Prior to 2018, Hamas had formally coordinated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Gaza's second largest armed faction and - like Hamas - a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK and other countries.

Hamas had also fought alongside other groups in previous conflicts, but the 2020 drill was billed in propaganda as evidence a wider array of groups were being unified.

Hamas's leader said the first drill reflected the "permanent readiness" of the armed factions.

The 2020 exercise was the first of four joint drills held over three years, each of which was documented in polished videos posted on public social media channels.

The BBC has visually identified 10 groups, including PIJ, by their distinctive headbands and emblems training alongside Hamas during the Strong Pillar drills in footage posted on the messaging app Telegram.

Following the 7 October attack, five of the groups went on to post videos claiming to show them taking part in the assault. Three others issued written statements on Telegram claiming to have participated.

The role of these groups has come into sharp focus as pressure builds on Hamas to find dozens of women and children believed to have been taken as captives from Israel into Gaza by other factions on 7 October.

Three groups - PIJ, the Mujahideen Brigades and Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades - claim to have seized Israeli hostages on that day.

Efforts to extend the temporary truce in Gaza were said to be hinging on Hamas locating those hostages.

Netanyahu Says The Holocaust Wasn't Hitlers' Idea

- Is Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Rewriting History to Blame a Palestinian For The Holocaust?

Colombia has threatened to snap ties with Israel over the latter’s actions in Gaza. Colombian President Gustavo Petro has compared Israels’ Gaza siege to Hitlers’ Nazi regime in Germany during World War II.

Israel in turn accused Colombia of supporting Hamas’ attack and suspended military exports to the South American country.

A Senior charity consultant claimed Israel is “more Nazi than even the Nazis” and shared a message on social media suggesting that atrocities committed by Hamas on Oct 7 were an inside job.

Mr Shaekh recently posted a video in which an Israeli TV presenter appeared to threaten citizens in several Arab countries, with the caption: “When will the world wake up to the fact that Israe! is more Nazi than even the Nazis were.”

On Nov 19, he shared on social media a post by another user who wrote:

“If you truly believe one of the most powerful militaries in the world, with nuclear weapons, who is the hub for surveillance technology didn’t know where Hamas was on Oct 7, (were able to break through a concentration camp) and their military did not respond for more than 6 hours was by accident, but now as they are bombing civilians they all of a sudden know where they are, I am sorry you are an ignorant fool.

“And your foolishness is enabling genocide

Netanyahu Says Palestinian Gave Hitler Idea For The Holocaust

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech to the World Zionist Congress on Tuesday. His subject was “the 10 big lies.”

Referring to the current cycle of violence, Netanyahu said Jews in Israel had faced attacks in the past — in 1920, 1921, 1929 — instigated by the “Mufti of Jerusalem,” Haj Amin al-Husseini, who allied himself with Adolf Hitler and the Nazis during World War II.

Then Netanyahu delivered this jaw-dropping assertion:

“Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews. And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said, ‘If you expel them, they'll all come here.’ ‘So what should I do with them?’ he asked. He said, ‘Burn them.’

Netanyahu said the Mufti of Jerusalem had “a central role in fomenting the Final Solution.”

Reaction in Israel — and around the Jewish world — came hard and fast. First politicians were agog. Then historians of the Holocaust piled on. Then Netanyahu was mocked in social media memes and parodies.

Isaac Herzog, the leader of the opposition in the Israeli parliament, wrote: “This is a dangerous historical distortion and I demand Netanyahu correct it immediately as it minimizes the Holocaust, Nazism and … Hitler's part in our people's terrible disaster."

Herzog pointed out that the Holocaust had already begun by the time the Grand Mufti met Hitler in November 1941. Zionist Union parliamentarian Itzik Shmuli demanded Netanyahu apologize to Holocaust victims, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Movies re: Netanyahus' BLOCKS Int. Media & Preps For Gaza Invasion -Biden Warns 'BIG Mistake'

U.S. Vetoes Israel-Hamas Cease-Fire Resolution at U.N. Security Council

The veto came amid warning that “civil order is breaking down” in Gaza, and a day after Biden administration warned that Israels’ military had not done enough to reduce harm to civilians.

UN Warns Gaza at “Breaking Point” as Dozens of Innocent Palestinians Are Captured by IDF, Stripped and Paraded Around Gaza. Some Were Journalists, University Professors, and Other Civilians That Were Not HAMAS

BBC 9 DEC 2023

The men were in Jabalia camp and other areas in northern Gaza

The United States on Friday vetoed a United Nations resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has launched hundreds of strikes, relief efforts were faltering and people were growing so desperate for basic necessities that some were stoning and raiding aid convoys.

The U.N. secretary general, António Guterres, and most members of the Security Council had backed the measure, saying that the humanitarian catastrophe in the coastal enclave where 2.2 million Palestinians live could threaten world stability.

But the United States, which is one of the five permanent members of the Security Council, blocked the resolution, arguing that Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas attacks. The vote was 13 to 1, with Britain abstaining and some U.S. allies like France voting for a cease-fire.

Robert A. Wood, who was representing the United States on the Council, said after the veto that the resolution for an unconditional and immediate cease-fire “was not only unrealistic, but dangerous — it would simply leave Hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it did on Oct. 7.”

The failed resolution came as the United Nations reported that it was struggling to deliver essential goods like food, medicine and cooking gas to desperate civilians who have packed into shelters and tent cities after two months of war.

“Civil order is breaking down,” Thomas White, the Gaza director of the United Nations relief agency for Palestinians, wrote Friday on social media. He added: “Some aid convoys are being looted and UN vehicles stoned. Society is on the brink of full-blown collapse.”

Mr. White spoke a day after the Biden administration warned that the Israeli military had not done enough to reduce harm to civilians in Gaza.

“It is imperative — it remains imperative — that Israel put a premium on civilian protection,” Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken told reporters in Washington on Thursday. “And there does remain a gap between exactly what I said when I was there, the intent to protect civilians, and the actual results that we’re seeing on the ground.”

The US risks “complicity in war crimes” by continuing to provide Israel with weapons and “diplomatic cover” as it commits “atrocities” in Gaza, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has said.

International journalists covering the Israel-Hamas war are increasingly frustrated by the ban on entering Gaza, leaving them unable to provide comprehensive on-the-ground coverage of the impact of the conflict inside the territory.

The Erez crossing from Israel into Gaza, controlled by the Israeli military, has been closed since 7 October when Hamas attacked the buildings and infrastructure, and killed or kidnapped a number of soldiers manning the border.

The Rafah crossing, from Egypt into Gaza at the southern end of the territory, which is controlled by the Egyptian military, has also been closed to journalists since the beginning of the war.

The Foreign Press Association (FPA), an independent Israeli organisation that represents members of the international media, has taken the first steps in a “legal procedure” for access into Gaza for international journalists after an initial request to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli government press office was ignored.

The international media has been relying on Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza, contact with Palestinian civilians, aid agency staff and medical workers, as well as social media reports, which need painstaking verification. Since the start of the war, at least 63 journalists and media workers in Gaza have been killed, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Some international journalists had embedded with the IDF inside Gaza since 7 October. However, the IDF forbade contact with Palestinians on the ground and has insisted that reports be submitted for review before publication or broadcast.

Israel continues bombarding Gaza, including places it told Palestinians to evacuate to

Israel has struck at least three locations in Gaza to which it had ordered civilians to evacuate since the breakdown of a fragile truce between Israel and Hamas earlier this month.

'It's a MASSACRE....Complete GENOCIDE'

The numbers of Gaza’s dead, wounded and orphaned children are uncertain but there is no question they have borne the brunt of the war, launched after Hamas’s 7 October attack on Israel that killed about 1,200 people. Unicef, the UN’s children’s fund, estimates that minors account for at least 40% of the estimated 20,000 people killed so far.

“When we speak of a war on children, it’s not to try to be dramatic. It’s rooted in the data,” said James Elder, Unicef’s chief spokesperson, who spent weeks in Gaza under bombardment. “In ‘normal’ past conflicts, the rate was about 20%, so you’re looking at twice the number of children who have been killed and injured compared with previous conflicts.

The Plight of Gaza’s ‘WCNSFs’ – Wounded Child, No Surviving Family

“That speaks obviously to the severity and the intensity of the bombardment. We believe it also speaks to the indiscriminate nature of the bombardment, and it speaks to a disregard for civilians, particularly children.”

The conflict has filled hospital wards with patients classified by the abbreviation “WCNSF” – “wounded child, no surviving family”

Israeli security forces restricted young Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem for prayers on Friday and deployed in strength across the Old City and beyond to quell any unrest

Large numbers of Israeli police kept guard around Al-Aqsa, a perennial flashpoint and often the scene of clashes, as Palestinians gathered for Friday prayers, Reuters journalists said. At one point they fired teargas.

It was the third week in row that Palestinians have been restricted from praying at the mosque following the Hamas assault on southern Israel

They were made to say prayers outside the Old City, gathering by roadsides while Israeli security forces watched.

Eventually about 5,000 elderly worshippers were allowed to enter.

Sayyed Razi Mousavi was an adviser to the Iranian paramilitary Revolutionary Guards in Syria.

An Israeli airstrike in a Damascus neighbourhood on Monday killed a high-ranking Iranian general, Iranian state media has said.

Iranian officials and allied militant groups in the region vowed revenge for the killing but did not immediately launch any retaliatory strike.

The killing of Sayyed Razi Mousavi, a longtime adviser of the Iranian paramilitary Revolutionary Guards in Syria, comes amid ongoing fears of the Israel-Hamas war sparking a regional spillover. Iran-backed groups in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq have launched attacks on Israel and its allies in support of Hamas.

Clashes along Lebanon-Israel border between Hezbollah and Israel have continued to intensify, with daily exchanges of missiles, airstrikes and shelling across the frontier.

In the Red Sea, attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen against ships they believe to be connected to Israel have disrupted trade and prompted the launch of a US-led multinational naval operation to protect shipping routes.

Iran-backed militias in Iraq operating under an umbrella group dubbed the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have also launched more than 100 attacks on bases housing US troops in Iraq and Syria, which they have said are in retaliation for Washington’s support of Israel.

The group claimed an attack on a US base next to the commercial airport in Erbil in northern Iraq on Monday. The attack injured three US personnel, one of whom was in a critical condition.

In response, the US military carried out retaliatory precision airstrike, likely killing “a number of Kataib Hezbollah militants” and destroying multiple facilities used by the group, officials said.

Israeli strikes killed two other generals earlier this month in Syria.

Israels' Supreme Court Overturns CORRUPT Netanyahus' Polarizing Contentious Judicial Overhaul

Israels' Supreme Court has ruled against a component of Netanyahus' legal reforms that rolled back some of the high courts' power and would give HIM MORE Control over Judges

In 2019, Facing Potential Indictment, Netanyahu Decided To Hold Snap Elections To Help Him Withstand a Potential Corruption Indictment.

MailOnline 3 JAN 2024

Corrupt Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a skilled survivor of Israels’ cut-throat politics...Netanyahu knew of HAMAS attack ONE YEAR before their 7 Oct attack

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel´s Supreme Court struck down a key component of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu´s contentious judicial overhaul Monday, delivering a landmark decision that could reopen the fissures in Israeli society that preceded the countrys' ongoing war against Hamas.

The planned overhaul sparked months of mass protests, threatened to trigger a constitutional crisis between the judicial and legislative branches of government, and rattled the cohesion of Israel's powerful military.

Those divisions were largely put aside after Hamas militants carried out a bloody cross-border attack in southern Israel on Oct. 7, triggering a war that has raged in Gaza for nearly three months. But Monday's court decision could reignite those tensions even while the country remains at war.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin, a Netanyahu ally and the architect of the overhaul, lambasted the court's decision, saying it demonstrated "the opposite of the spirit of unity required these days for the success of our soldiers on the front."

The ruling "will not discourage us," Levin said without indicating whether the government would try to revive his plan in the short term. "As the campaigns are continuing on different fronts, we will continue to act with restraint and responsibility," he said.

In Mondays´decision, the court narrowly voted to overturn a law passed in July that prevents judges from striking down government decisions they deem "unreasonable."

Opponents had argued that Netanyahus´ efforts to remove the standard of reasonability opens the door to corruption and improper appointments of unqualified cronies to important positions.

How Houthi Anger With Israel is Reshaping The Middle East Conflict

Houthi fighters chant slogans at the end of their training in Sana’a, Yemen, on 11 January

Attacks on Yemen by the UK and the US have fuelled tensions in a region riven by conflict and violence

Last summer, as Washington tried quietly to coax Saudi Arabia towards the grand bargain of normalisation of its relations with Israel, diplomats in Riyadh were much more focused on securing a different peace deal on its southern borders with one of the most successful insurgencies of *modern times – the one led by the Houthi rebels of Yemen, also known as Ansar Allah, the supporters of God.

With an informal ceasefire holding inside Yemen, and after months of private talks mainly mediated in Oman, on 14 September a Houthi *delegation flew to Riyadh, where they met Prince Khalid bin Salman, the defence minister and brother of the crown prince.

Major differences remained to be settled, but it seemed as if, after decades of various forms of fighting, peace was to come to the country, and largely on the terms dictated by a group that did not really exist as a political force inside Yemen until the early 2000s. Saudi Arabia was finally going to cut its losses on the disastrous offensive it launched in 2015 to push back the Houthis.

Yet 23 days after the Riyadh meeting, Hamas broke through the border with Israel, massacring Israelis and sparking a chain of events that this week left Yemen exposed to a two-day attack mounted from US and British submarines and warships on the Red Sea.

The attacks on Houthi bases in Yemen, as well as ratcheting up the tension in a region already gripped by violence, took Yemen further away from elusive internal peace.

In a country of nuance, two factors are adding to the *complexity of a region riven by conflict: the Houthis’ support for the Palestinian cause, and the way Yemen’s geography helps shape political dynamics. As the writer Iona Craig observes, Yemen is a quintessential example of geopolitics – the place where geography and politics come together.

Yemen itself may be relatively impoverished, but the often unprotected fruits of western globalisation temptingly pass by its shores day and night. Nearly 15% of goods imported into Europe, the Middle East and North Africa are shipped from Asia and the Gulf by sea.

Nearly 21.5% of refined oil and more than 13% of crude oil go through the waterways. Asian imports and exports account for about a quarter of Israels total foreign trade and transit mainly via Red Sea routes.

Israel Knew About Hamas Attack Plan Way Earlier Than Was Thought: New York Times

WAR CRIMINAL

The report indicates that Israeli commanders ignored long-ago warnings of the militants' plot.

Netanyahu was aware of Hamas′ plan to launch an attack on Israeli soil over a year before the devastating Oct. 7 operation that killed hundreds of people, The New York Times reported.

It was the latest in a series of signs that top Israeli commanders either ignored or played down warnings that Hamas was plotting the attack, which triggered a war against the Islamic militant group that has devastated the Gaza Strip.

The Times said Israeli officials were in possession of a 40-page battle plan, code-named “Jericho Wall,” that detailed a hypothetical Hamas attack on southern Israeli communities.

It was unclear how the document was obtained by Israel, but the article said that it had been translated — indicating it may have been in Arabic and directly intercepted from Hamas.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the report, saying it was “currently focused on eliminating the threat from the terrorist organization Hamas.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Staff Were INVOLVED in Hamas 7 October Attack - UN Has Sacked Several Employees

Many Nations STOP Aid to Gaza Including Britain, The US, Australia, Italy and Canada

Head of UNRWA Calls on Countries to Reconsider Shocking Pause in Funding

MailOnline 28 JAN 2024

Palestinians try to extinguish a fire at a UNRWA vocational training centre which displaced people use as a shelter in Khan Younis

The head of the UN relief agency in Gaza has called on countries that have suspended funding to reconsider their “shocking” decision.

Philippe Lazzarini said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is depended upon by more than two million people for their survival.

It comes after Britain joined nations including the US, Australia, Italy and Canada in temporarily pausing support for the organisation over claims that a number of its staff were involved in Hamas’ October 7 attack.

The UNRWA has sacked several of its employees in Gaza suspected of taking part in last year’s assault by Hamas and other militants on southern Israel.

In a statement on Saturday, Mr Lazzarini said: “It is shocking to see a suspension of funds to the agency in reaction to allegations against a small group of staff, especially given the immediate action that UNRWA took by terminating their contracts and asking for a transparent independent investigation.

“The United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), the highest investigative authority in the UN system, has already been seized of this very serious matter.”

He added: “It would be immensely irresponsible to sanction an Agency and an entire community it serves because of allegations of criminal acts against some individuals, especially at a time of war, displacement and political crises in the region.”

The UK Foreign Office said earlier in a statement that it was “appalled” by allegations against UNRWA staff and would temporarily halt funding while an investigation takes place.

The relief agency has played a key role in providing aid for the enclave’s population amid the humanitarian disaster caused by Israel’s offensive in the wake of the October 7 attack.

Mr Lazzarini said it had ordered an investigation after Israel provided information alleging several employees played a role in Hamas’s assault.

The US state department said claims had been made against 12 employees.

UNRWA has 13,000 staff in Gaza, almost all of them Palestinians, ranging from teachers in schools that the agency runs, to doctors, medical staff and aid workers.

In its unprecedented October 7 attack, Hamas broke through the security fence surrounding Gaza and stormed nearby Israeli communities, killing about 1,200 people and kidnapping some 250.

Israel’s offensive – one of the deadliest and most destructive in recent history – has killed more than 26,000 Palestinians and left more than 64,400 wounded, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press ahead with the war until it realises its goals of destroying Hamas

UN Chief Warns Israeli Offensive in Rafah is 'FINAL Nail in The Coffin' For Gaza Aid

Israel is intentionally starving Palestinians and should be held accountable for war crimes – and genocide, according to the UN’s leading expert on the right to food.

Hunger and severe malnutrition are widespread in the Gaza Strip, where about 2.2 million Palestinians are facing severe shortages resulting from Israel destroying food supplies and severely restricting the flow of food, medicines and other humanitarian supplies. Aid trucks and Palestinians waiting for humanitarian relief have come under Israeli fire.

“There is no reason to intentionally block the passage of humanitarian aid or intentionally obliterate small-scale fishing vessels, greenhouses and orchards in Gaza – other than to deny people access to food,” Michael Fakhri, the UN special rapporteur on the right to food, told the Guardian.

Humanitarian Workers Face Deportation From Israel

Israel has stopped issuing visas for international staff of humanitarian organisations that work in occupied Palestinian territories, hampering efforts to get food and other vital supplies into Gaza.

Dozens of foreign aid workers, including heads of organisations, have had to leave Israel and the Palestinian territories, or are overstaying their visas and risking deportation so they can continue working, an alliance of aid groups has warned.

Emergency response teams, who have the specialist experience to deal with the multiple challenges of working in Gaza, are particularly affected, said Faris Arouri, director of the Association of International Development Agencies (AIDA), an umbrella group representing aid groups operating in the West Bank and Gaza.

They are deployed on short notice from regional headquarters to deal with unexpected crises, but the visa block means aid groups have not been able to bring any experts into Jerusalem, from where most aid to Gaza is coordinated.

Visas are required to enter Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, but new ones have effectively been blocked by the ministry of welfare and social affairs. Its officials must provide a letter of recommendation before a visa application can be processed, but they stopped issuing these after the 7 October Hamas attacks.

At the time, the ministry said the state of emergency affected its work, and all humanitarian visas were automatically extended to 8 February 2024. When that exemption expired, the ministry told the humanitarian organisations it had stopped issuing letters and the visa process was being discussed by “various government authorities”.

“Instead of advocating to enter Gaza, we are being forced to advocate just to let staff come to Jerusalem,” Arouri said, adding that the visa freeze was unprecedented.

Germany & World Asks Israel to Explain Mass BLOODY Shooting at Gaza Aid Site

Gaza doctor says gunfire accounted for 80% of the wounds at his hospital from aid convoy bloodshed

Germanys’ foreign minister Annalena Baerbock has demanded that Israel’s army “fully explain” how Palestinians ended up dead yesterday while they were gathered to receive humanitarian aid, an event which she said had shocked her.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) - The head of a Gaza City hospital that treated some of those wounded in the bloodshed surrounding an aid convoy said Friday that more than 80% had been struck by gunfire, suggesting there was heavy shooting by Israeli troops.

At least 115 Palestinians were killed and more than 750 others injured Thursday, according to health officials, when witnesses said nearby Israeli troops opened fire as huge crowds raced to pull goods off an aid convoy. Israel said many of the dead were trampled in a stampede that started when desperate Palestinians in Gaza rushed the aid trucks. Israel said its troops fired warning shots after the crowd moved toward them in a threatening way.

Dr. Mohammed Salha, the acting director of Al-Awda Hospital, told The Associated Press that of the 176 wounded brought to the facility, 142 had gunshot wounds and the other 34 showed injuries from a stampede.

He couldn´t address the cause of death of those killed, because the bodies were taken to government-run hospitals to be counted. Officials at those hospitals couldn´t immediately be reached.

The bloodshed underscored how chaos amid Israel´s almost 5-month-old offensive has crippled the effort to bring aid to Gaza´s 2.3 million Palestinians, a quarter of whom the U.N. says face starvation.

The U.N. and other aid groups have been pleading for safe corridors for aid convoys, saying it has become nearly impossible to deliver supplies in most of Gaza because of the difficulty of coordinating with the Israeli military, ongoing hostilities and the breakdown of public order, including crowds of desperate people who overwhelm aid convoys.

U.N. officials say hunger is even worse in the north, where several hundred thousand Palestinians remain even though the area has been isolated and mostly leveled since Israeli troops launched their ground offensive there in late October. U.N. agencies haven´t delivered aid to the north in more than a month because of military restrictions and lack of security, but several deliveries by other groups reached the area earlier this week.

Acknowledging the difficulty of getting aid in, U.S. President Joe Biden said Friday the U.S. soon will begin air dropping assistance to Gaza and will look for other ways to get shipments in "including possibly a marine corridor."

The announcement came hours after a Jordanian plane over northern Gaza dropped packages attached to parachutes, including rice, flour and baby formula.

"Innocent lives are on the line, and children´s lives are on the line. We won´t stand by until we get more aid in there," Biden said. "We should be getting hundreds of trucks in, not just several."

Aid officials have said that airdrops are an incredibly expensive way of distributing assistance.

"I don´t think the airdropping of food in the Gaza Strip should be the answer today. The real answer is open the crossing and bring convoys and bring meaningful assistance into the Gaza Strip," Philippe Lazzarini, head of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, said Thursday.

Thursday´s convoy wasn´t organized by the U.N. Instead, it appeared to have been monitored by the Israeli military, which said its troops were on hand to secure it to ensure it reached northern Gaza. The ensuing shooting and bloodshed raise questions about whether Israel will be able to keep order if it goes through with its postwar plans for Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has put forward a plan for Israel to retain open-ended security and political control over the territory - an effective reoccupation - after Hamas is destroyed. Under the plan, Palestinians picked by Israel would administer the territory, but it´s uncertain if any would cooperate.

That would leave Israeli troops, who throughout the war have responded with heavy firepower when they perceive a possible threat, to oversee the population amid the massive postwar humanitarian and reconstruction operation envisioned by the international community.

Israel launched its air, sea and ground offensive in Gaza in response to Hamas´ Oct. 7 attack into Israel, in which militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted around 250 others. Since the assault began, Israel has barred entry of food, water, medicine and other supplies, except for a trickle of aid entering the south from Egypt at the Rafah crossing and Israel´s Kerem Shalom crossing.

Despite international calls to allow in more aid, the number of supply trucks is far less than the 500 that came in daily before the war.
