ISIS Threatens UK with 'Harder and More Bitter' Attacks than Brussels as Armed Police Take to Britain's Streets After Terror Group Claims Responsibility for Bombings
Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the Brussels bombings today Terrorist group described how its 'soldiers' carried out the attacks At least 34 people have been killed and many more have been left injured It is has now threatened to hit the UK with a 'harder and more bitter' attack Britain has ramped up security across the country with armed officers Martin Robinson, UK Chief Reporter For Mailonline, 22 March 2016 ISIS has threatened to hit the UK 'harder and more bitter attacks' after claiming responsibility for the Brussels bombings today. Britain has ramped up security with armed officers taking to the streets near major landmarks, train stations and airports. The heightened police presence comes after at least 34 people were killed and many more left injured in a series of bomb attacks inside an airport terminal and Metro station in the Belgian capital. The explosions come just a day after the Belgium Interior Minister warned of possible revenge attacks after the arrest of Paris massacre suspect Salah Abdeslam in the city last week. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8671571365.jpg Pictured are the chaotic scenes at Brussels Airport after two explosions inside the terminal earlier today http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8671780446.jpg Armed British police officers stand on duty outside the entrance to the Houses of Parliament in London today http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8673954935.jpg In London: Armed officers make their way through the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras station. 'And what will await you will become harder and more bitter through the grace of Allah. 'In praise of Allah who has made our blows precise and helped us succeed. we demand for him to accept our brothers among the martyrs.' A major manhunt is underway for an ISIS suspect in a white coat and black hat who fled Brussels Airport after the two explosions ripped through the terminal in a suicide bomb attack this morning, killing 14 people and injuring dozens of others. Police issued a wanted notice for the man who was seen on CCTV pushing a luggage trolley through the check-in area with two other suspects minutes before the blasts. His alleged accomplices were wearing black gloves on their left hands, which security sources say would have hidden the triggers for their explosive vests. The two men blew themselves up while the third suspect is believed to have left a nail bomb and fled, according to De Standaard. It is not known if the fugitive then sped to Maelbeek station to carry out the blast that killed 20 people in a subway train just 79 minutes later. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8675955812.jpg First picture: These three men, pretending to be air passengers, are believed to the terrorists who have carried out the Brussels airport. The two suspected suicide bombers on the left were both wearing black gloves - which the Belgian media says would have hidden the triggers for their explosive vests. The third suspect in the hat is believed to still be on the run after dropping his nail bomb Alphonse Youla, who was working on a stand at the airport putting security wrapping around suitcases, said: 'I heard a man shout some Arabic words then an explosion.. then a second explosion, a massive explosion, much bigger. 'It was a horror. I saw at least seven people dead. There was blood. People had lost legs. You could see their bodies but no legs.' Belgian Prosecutor Eric van der Sypt confirmed two bombers died at Brussels airport and said a third is being 'actively' sought. Raids are currently being carried out across the country. Anti-police terror police swooped on a number of suspects in the hours after the attacks as the Belgian Foreign Ministry said many of those behind the terror plot are 'still at large'. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8657957574.jpg Two blasts detonated near check-in desks at Brussels Airport at 8am (7am GMT) in a suspected suicide bombing http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8671097729.jpg The ISIS (file photo) statement described how its 'soldiers' allegedly carried out the attacks this morning At least two people in Brussels were arrested outside the city's North railway station, a mile from the Maelbeek subway. A third suspect has been arrested on a train near Amsterdam and a suspect package at Gard du Nord in Paris delayed Eurostar services this afternoon. Another man was also taken into custody at by armed police at Brussels South railway station near the suburb of Schaerbeek. MailOnline revealed earlier today that security services already had CCTV of one of the Brussels airport bombers including the moment he detonated his suicide belt. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8675987932.jpg Surrounded: Two men on their knees with hands on their head are held in Brussels as the authorities http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8675995278.jpg Drama: Two men were pinned to the ground by armed police and special forces as the hunt for members of the terror cell behind today's bombings in Brussels started http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8675999671.jpg Interventions: The arrests came as the authorities start to round up any people deemed a risk to the public, including here at Brussels North station - a mile from the Maelbeek bombing http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8676003471.jpg Across the border: A suspect with his hands up is arrested as he is taken off a train because of suspicious activity at Hoofddorp Station in Amsterdam Quote:

A major police operation has begun in the German city, according to local media reports. People were seen running from the shopping mall to get away from the incident. The area around the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre in the district of Moosach has been sealed off as emergency services try to control the situation. One picture on social media shows a man lying on the ground with a blanket over him. A major police operation is ongoing in Munich, around the city's Olympic Park, with the force warning people to stay in their homes. People were seen running for their lives from the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre, in the district to get away from the incident after hearing gunshots. A video purporting to show the shooter, dressed in black, firing 20 shots has been posted on Twitter. The video shows him outside a McDonald's directly outside the shopping centre. The force in Munich posted on its website: 'At this time we have a major operation underway. Please avoid the area of the shopping centre.' First reports said a heavily armed man wandered through the shopping centre opening fire at will. It is reported that the gunman fled after his shooting spree on the city underground network. Photos flashed on to social media sites of at least one body covered by aluminium sheets. ‘Stay in your homes. Leave the road!’ Polizei München said in a Tweet. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...9208390800.jpg First reports said a heavily armed man wandered through the shopping centre opening fire at will. Pictured are armed police on the roof of the car park A spokesman for the German police said there was a 'shooting spree'. An official at the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre declined comment, saying only, 'We are experiencing a problem.' The shopping centre is next to the Munich Olympic stadium, where the Palestinian militant group Black September took 11 Israeli athletes hostage and eventually killed them during the 1972 Olympic Games. Thamina Stoll, a university student in Munich, tweeted video of the scene showing people running. 'Helicopter, sirens and people on the street #Munich #shooting #OEZ #München,' she said. 'At least 30 police cars on their way to #Munich #shoppingmall according to local radio station. Area around mall blocked by police.' German media reports suggest at least 15 people have been killed, but this is unconfirmed. The shopping centre attack began inside a McDonald's restaurant shortly before 6pm local time, the police spokeswoman said. "There are still people in the shopping centre. We are trying to get the people out and take care of them," she added. An employee who is still inside the mall told Reuters by phone that many shots were fired - and that they saw someone who was "so severely injured that he definitely didn't survive". The shooting comes just days after a teenage asylum seeker went on the rampage with an axe and a knife on a regional train in Germany, injuring five people. Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said the teenager was believed to be a "lone wolf" attacker who appeared to have been "inspired" by the Islamic State group but was not a member of the jihadist network. It also follows a truck attack in the French Riviera city of Nice after Bastille Day fireworks last week that left 84 people dead. UPDATE: It has been confirmed that there has been a second shooting at the Stachus metro station in Munich city centre. . |

Al-Qaeda Leader Urges Jihadists to KIDNAP Westerners in Chilling Warning to the 'Enemies of Islam'
Daily Mail UK, 26 July 2016. The leader of Al-Qaeda has called on jihadists to kidnap Westerners in a chilling warning to the 'enemies of Islam'. In an audio interview Ayman al-Zawahiri urged militants to take Western hostages and exchange them for jailed jihadists 'until they liberate the last Muslim male prisoner and last Muslim female prisoner in the prisons of the Crusaders, apostates, and enemies of Islam'. He added that kidnapping was a 'powerful weapon in the fight against the enemy'. Al-Zawahiri, an eye surgeon, was named as the leader of Al-Qaeda in June 2011, a few weeks after Osama Bin Laden's death. He is believed to be seeking refuge in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area that is the Taliban's base. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...9460147378.jpg The leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, urged militants to take Western hostages and exchange them for jailed jihadists Zawahiri was already the group's chief ideologue and was believed by some experts to have been the 'operational brains' behind the 9/11 attacks in the US. Zawahiri was number two - behind only Bin Laden - in the 22 'most wanted terrorists' list announced by the US government in 2001 and continues to have a $25m (£16m) bounty on his head. One of his wives and two of their children were killed in a US air strike in late 2001. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...9460222038.jpg The terror chief's chilling warning came after two Middle Eastern men tried to grab a serviceman, aged in his 20s, while he was out jogging near RAF Marham in Norfolk UK last Thursday. The main suspect, who grabbed the serviceman while he was out jogging, and attempted to pull him into a dark coloured people carrier, is thought to have suffered an injury during the incident after being challenged by the victim. They were involved in a scuffle during which the victim head-butted his attacker before punching him, causing the suspect to fall to the floor. It was at this point the second suspect, who was armed with a knife, went to the aid of his accomplice allowing the victim to run away and get help. Police continued to carry out house to house enquiries at Marham over the weekend and review CCTV. END RELATED: British Soldiers are Told to 'Scrub' Facebook Accounts of All Uniform Pictures and to Jog in Pairs For Fear of New Lee Rigby-Style ISIS Attacks
British soldiers have been told to 'scrub' their social media accounts of uniform pictures and instructed to jog in pairs to avoid being targeted by jihadists. A troubling memo ordering staff to 'remain vigilant' was sent to soldiers at bases in Bulford, Tidworth and Larkhill, Wiltshire, where 14,000 people are garrisoned. It comes as two men, reportedly of a Middle-Eastern appearance, tried to abduct a serviceman in his late 20s near RAF Marham in Norfolk. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...72_634x356.jpg British soldiers have been told to 'scrub' their social media accounts of uniform pictures and instructed to jog in pairs to avoid being targeted by jihadists. Pictured, police outside RAF Marham in Norfolk UK, after a serviceman was threatened with a knife near to the base A memo, warned: 'All staff and their families should remain vigilant and report anything that is suspicious immediately. 'Personnel when running off camp should consider running in pairs. 'Personnel should consider scrubbing their social media pages to avoid drawing attention to themselves On Wednesday a married serviceman was out running on Wednesday when he was grabbed by a man, who tried to drag him towards a nearby car. Police appealed for pedestrians and motorists to help track down two 'Middle Eastern' men after the attempted knife-point abduction/kidnap. The serviceman knocked the first attacker to the floor and an accomplice, carrying a knife, helped him up before both men fled. The serviceman was said to have been left 'very, very shaken by his ordeal'. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...9370783597.jpg It comes as two men, reportedly of a middle-Eastern appearance, tried to abduct a serviceman in his late 20s near RAF Marham in Norfolk (pictured, police at the scene) Detective Superintendent Paul Durham said: 'While the victim only witnessed two attackers, there may have been more than two people in the vehicle and given the nature of the attack, it is likely they were part of a larger team.' Police are urging anyone walking or driving along Squires Hill, near to Costcutters in Marham, around the time of the incident on Wednesday to come forward. A witness told he believes he saw a people carrier similar to the one being hunted by police several days speeding away from the base days before the attempted abduction. The man claimed men of a 'Middle Eastern' appearance and matching the police description were in the car, which almost crashed into him, three days before. Police refused to comment on reports that they have the DNA of one of the attackers, after the jogger allegedly got their blood on his knuckle while fighting them off. |

UK Met Chief Warns New UK Terror Atrocity 'Is a Case of When Not If': Britain's Top Cop Warns 600 Extra Armed Police are 'Not Enough to Stop Attack'
Daily Mail UK, 31 July 2016 http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...9924060404.jpg Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe is the Metropolitan Police Commissioner We have all watched the recent terrorist atrocities unfold with a terrifying and depressing sense of horror and dread. I know that with each new outrage, and especially those on our doorstep on the Continent, there is a greater sense of fear that Britain will be the next victim in this wave of mindless mass murder. I feel and understand that fear, and as the police officer in charge of preventing such an attack, I know you want me to reassure you. I am afraid I cannot do that entirely. Our threat level has been at ‘Severe’ for two years. It remains there. It means an attack is highly likely – you could say it is a case of when, not if. But where I can offer reassurance is in answering the other questions I know you so often ask – why and how has it not happened here yet? What are we doing to prevent it? How will the police protect me when it does? What I can say is that we have not had a terrorist murder since the barbaric attack on Fusilier Lee Rigby on May 22, 2013, in Woolwich. I can point to the plots we have foiled and the potential terrorists we have put behind bars after we discovered their advanced plans to murder officers leaving Shepherd’s Bush police station to walk their beats. Another plot involved a British-based terrorist planning to carry out a Lee Rigby-style attack on US soldiers based in East Anglia using a car and knives to murder the servicemen and potentially detonate a bomb. He was thwarted thanks to joint work by the police and MI5. When I was a beat bobby in South Yorkshire, my starting point had to be that I wanted to stop the bad guys and the gangs before they bullied the families on my patch. Now, like then, I don’t want to admit that any crime, let alone these kinds of terrorist atrocities, is likely to happen on our watch – but that is what the ‘Severe’ threat level means. However, there are lots of things working in our favour. The relationship between MI5, MI6 and our police is a world-beater. It has given us an advantage in intelligence and ultimately foiling plots. My team at Scotland Yard co-ordinates the national police effort across the country, working with specialist hubs in other regions. In short, we have a professional, joined-up, national network of intelligence-led investigations. Our gun controls and the simple fact we are an island mean that terrorists in the UK would struggle to get the firearms required to repeat attacks similar to those we have seen on the Continent. This gives a solid base as it means the UK environment is immediately hostile to the terrorist. I would also add to this the British way of life and culture. First, the vast majority of our officers are unarmed – I believe this gives us a far healthier relationship with the people we police. Our neighbourhood officers – the ones who know their local streets and names of many of the people in their communities – are our major weapon. They are our eyes and ears. Second, it is our tolerance and acceptance. Our approach to Muslims is no different because these attacks purport to be committed in the name of Islam. We don’t stigmatise the millions of British Muslims whose values and faith completely reject the terrorists’ litany of hate. We are a nation that accepts difference but builds communities with shared values. We should be proud of that – it is another reason why the UK is a hostile environment for those intent on terrorism. It means the vigilance of our officers is backed-up by millions more eyes and ears. These are whole communities united in defeating terrorism. But even with this solid foundation to prevent attack, I have renewed our focus on what we will do when terrorists breach these defences. Within hours of the terrible events in Paris last November, I recognised that the attack we had witnessed just 200 miles from London required a huge response. So we have increased the number of specially trained and equipped officers who would confront heavily armed terrorists. Initially this was through longer shifts. Now, our resilience has increased as all Met officers who carry a gun have been trained to take the initiative in the face of a new terrorist threat. Meanwhile, we are training hundreds of extra officers so they are ready to supplement our numbers during an attack similar to that seen in Paris. This increases armed officers by 600 to 2,800. It also improves our firearms capacity significantly at a time of crisis. Although we can’t talk about the tactics of how many armed officers we have on the street at any one time, our capacity to confront the most terrible of threats is increasing threefold. For the first time, our team of Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers, who train for the very worst attacks, are ready 24 hours a day. They have the advanced skills needed to tackle the toughest of challenges. All of the UK’s armed officers are brave men and women who have volunteered to put themselves on this new and ever shifting front line. We tell the public to ‘Run, Hide, Tell’. We ask these officers to run in the opposite direction to you. They are paid no more for this. They have families. They are as attached to living life as all of us, but they do this for you. They do this knowing that their split- second decisions will be scrutinised in investigations that can sometimes last many years. I’m sure they have your gratitude. I realise that some of what I am telling you today is not reassuring. I hope that some of it is more so. The threat we all face is very real. No one watching events on the Continent can think otherwise, but it is important we have a shared understanding of the work that goes on every day to stop attacks happening and to prepare for the time we are faced with this terrifying threat. London is a vibrant city. I am especially proud to police it. It is a place the world wants to visit and invest in – and rightly so. Help us to keep it that way – be our eyes and ears against terror. But also enjoy the city. We should be positive and relish our freedoms. Yes, these can feel like dark and desperate times. But defeating terrorism is as much about refusing to be afraid as anything else. Refusing to change our beliefs, our values and our way of life. We will not become like them. We will not hate. We will not be cowed. And because of this they will never win. |

Belgian Police Shoot Terror Suspect in The Leg After Two officers are Stabbed and Brussels Train Station is Evacuated in Bomb Scare
Two police officers were stabbed as one of Belgium's busiest train stations was evacuated due to a bomb scare. The officers were attacked by an unnamed individual in a busy main road in Schaerbeek, known as a 'hotbed of jihadism'. Police shot the suspect in the leg and arrested him. Federal prosecutor's spokesman Eric Van Der Sypt said 'we have reason to believe it is terror-related.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5673712831.jpg Belgian counter terrorist prosecutors were investigating a stabbing incident in Brussels today http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5673756762.jpg Police and army personnel were stationed outside the station following a bomb alert http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5676657099.jpg Police stand at the scene where officers were stabbed by an unidentified man in Schaarbeek The prosecutor's office said the man stabbed one of the police officers in the stomach and the other in the neck. Neither was seriously hurt. The suspect then tried to run away but was spotted by another police patrol who shot him in the leg. The suspect 'broke the nose' of one of the policemen in the struggle. Schaerbeek has become synonymous with terrorism after a dilapidated 1960s flat in the neighbourhood was used by three jihadists as a bomb-making safehouse prior to the devastating airport and metro attacks on March 22. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5676679515.jpg The Criminal Investigation Department pictured at the scene of a stabbing in Schaerbeek Several terror suspects linked to the coordinated Paris attacks last November were also based in the district. The attack came hours after commuters were ordered to leave Brussels Nord Train Station as it was swept for explosives. Police searched the station, causing major delays, but found 'nothing untoward'. The station was re-opened at around 3pm local time. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5673892819.jpg Commuters were forced to leave the station in the north of the city as officers investigated Spokesman Frederic Sacre said: 'A message of an alleged bomb threat was sent to the police, all the people were evacuated from the station, the trains stopped.' The same station was evacuated two days ago as officials investigated a suspect package found in a car parked outside. Belgium has been on high alert after coordinated suicide bombings at Brussels airport and at Maalbeek metro train station, which left 35 dead and was the deadliest terrorist attack in the country's history. Representatives from 70 countries and 25 international organisations are currently in Brussels for a major conference on Afghanistan. US secretary of state, John Kerry and the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon are among those in attendance. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...5676698722.jpg Police searched the station, causing major delays, but found 'nothing untoward' . |

Gunman Esteban Santiago - an Iraq war veteran - opened fire in the lower level baggage claim area in Terminal 2 on Friday about 1pm. He was taken into custody after he threw his empty weapon down and lay spread-eagle on the ground, one witness said. Santiago flew into the airport from Anchorage, Alaska (with a layover in Minneapolis, St. Paul) on Delta flight 2182 with a firearm as his only piece of checked luggage. The 26-year-old, who was dressed in a Star Wars t-shirt, claimed his bag, went to the bathroom to load his handgun and then started shooting people dead. Terry Andres, of Virginia, and Olga Woltering, of Georgia, were among those who were killed. Mr Andres, a 62-year-old grandfather, was at the airport with his wife to go on a vacation, while Mrs Woltering was scheduled to leave on a cruise from Florida on Saturday with her husband Ralph to celebrate his 90th birthday. Law enforcement are now investigating why Santiago was in Florida as they try to determine a motive for the shooting spree. FBI officials said late Friday they had not ruled out terrorism and were investigating all angles. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3743104376.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3743097098.jpg Esteban Santiago, 26 (pictured giving a one-fingered salute similar to ISIS jihadists), has been identified as the gunman in the Ft. Quote:
He was previously pictured giving a one-fingered salute, which is commonly used by Islamic State jihadists often before they embark on a suicide bombing. Santiago was also contacted by the FBI after an employer back in Alaska raised concerns about certain things he had said, according to ABC News Santiago served from 2007 to 2016 in the Puerto Rico National Guard and Alaska National Guard including a deployment to Iraq from 2010 to 2011. A private first class and combat engineer, he received half a dozen medals before receiving a general discharge for unsatisfactory performance in August last year. His aunt Maria Ruiz said that Santiago had returned from Iraq acting strangely but had seemed happy after the birth of his child in September last year. But she said something happened to him about a month ago and he was hospitalized for two weeks. She did not have details of his condition. 'Like a month ago, it was like he lost his mind. He said he saw things,' she said. Santiago's brother Bryan Santiago said he could have suffered a 'flashback' from his time in Iraq, despite never being diagnosed with PTSD http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3743177469.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3743183368.jpg Santiago was an Iraq veteran having served in the country for one year before being discharged in August last year. 'I know that was mentioned as a potential cause and they wanted to kind of look into that a little further and get to that point,' Rubio said. Santiago's brother said he had been fighting with people back in Alaska, including his girlfriend who he was having relationship issues with. He said Santiago, who was 'was pro-America', has not spoken to his family for several weeks. 'We have not talked for the past three weeks,' Bryan told the Associated Press. 'That's a bit unusual... I'm in shock. He was a serious person... He was a normal person.' The gunman was born in New Jersey but moved to Puerto Rico where his mother and brother still live. He came back to Puerto Rico after serving in Iraq, before moving to Alaska. He lived there from 2014 to 2016 and his girlfriend and child are still there. His most recent address was in Naples, Florida. Other details about the shooter reveal he had a minor criminal record for traffic violations, according to court records. He was also evicted by his landlord for failing to pay rent in February 2015. Santiago was charged with fourth-degree assault and damage of property in January 2016, stemming from a domestic violence incident. But the Broward County Sheriff said the only shooting that happened was in Terminal 2 and that he believes only the one gunman was involved. A witness said that the shooter was silent and didn't appear to be targeting anyone in particular - 'popping off bullets at random'. John Schlicher, who told MSNBC he saw the attack, said the shooter was 'directly firing at us' while passengers waited for their bags to come off the carousel In another interview with Fox News, Schlicher said that the shooter was aiming at people's heads. 'All the people seemed to be shot in the head,' Schlicher said. 'He was shooting people who were down on the ground too.' The shooter reloaded once for a second burst of shooting, Schlicher said, but he could not say how many bullets were fired. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3747927344.jpg His aunt Maria Ruiz, who lives in New Jersey, said that Santiago had returned from Iraq acting strangely but had seemed happy after the birth of his child last year http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...3747833667.jpg Authorities investigate the home of Maria Luisa Ruiz in Union City, New Jersey. 'I was dodging bullets and trying to help people get out of the way,' Lea said. 'At first we thought it was firecrackers,' he said. 'Everyone started screaming and running. The shooter made his way down through baggage claim. He had what looked like a 9mm and emptied his entire clip. People were trying to run.' Ari Fleischer, a former White House spokesman who was at the scene, tweeted: 'I'm at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Shots have been fired. Everyone is running.' Cellphone video footage broadcast by local Fox television affiliate Channel 7 showed one person lying bloodied on the floor, and several others on their knees. A passenger named as Peter Cruise said he believed that travelers on his plane were among the victims. He said he and his family 'were walking up the ramp and just passed the checking gate when all a sudden everybody started running.' 'I grabbed the kids and took off running down the ramp. Told the flight attendant to let us off the tarmac, we ran to hide behind some luggage carts.' Video from the airport Friday afternoon showed hundreds of passengers corralled together on the tarmac with emergency vehicles parked outside the terminal with lights flashing. Governor Rick Scott rushed to the airport to be briefed on the shooting, as dozens of police and emergency vehicles converged on the scene. President-elect Donald Trump said he had spoken with Scott, and was 'monitoring the terrible situation in Florida.' 'Thoughts and prayers for all. Stay safe!' he tweeted. President Barack Obama has also been briefed on the developing situation. He told ABC News on Friday night that he was 'heartbroken' for the families affected. 'These kinds of tragedies have happened too often during the eight years I have been president. The pain, the grief, the shock that they must be going through is enormous,' he said. The Florida attack was the latest in a series of mass shootings that have plagued the United States in recent years, some inspired by militants with an extreme view of Islam, others who are loners or mentally disturbed who have easy access to weapons under U.S. gun laws. Jesse Davis, chief of police at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, said Santiago didn't call attention to himself and 'as far as we can tell' traveled alone from Alaska to Florida. He said that a firearm was his only piece of checked luggage. Authorities are trying to track Santiago's movements through Alaska's largest commercial airport using video footage. Davis noted that it's not usual for travelers at the Alaska airport to check firearms because many people hunt. Quote:

'Suicide Bomber' Strikes at Manchester Arena: Nineteen People are Killed and 50 Injured in Terrorist Attack as 'Nail Bomb Near the Exit' Explodes, Ripping into Teens Leaving Packed Ariana Grande Gig
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...76_964x627.jpg Nineteen people have been confirmed dead and around 50 injured after a terrorist attack inside Manchester Arena at the end of a teen concert tonight. Video footage showed thousands of people fleeing in tears from the venue, many covered in blood, after the Ariana Grande concert finished. Armed officers surrounded the venue and bloodied concertgoers were pictured being helped by emergency services outside the 21,000-seat gig. Concert-goer Abby Mullen said: 'People's skin and faeces where everywhere including in my hair and on my bag. That sound, the blood and those who were running around clueless with body parts and bits of skin missing will not be leaving my mind any time soon or the minds of those involved.'... At least 19 people are dead and 50 more injured after a suspected suicide bomber targeted children leaving a packed pop concert at Manchester Arena last night. Witnesses told of nuts and bolts tearing into young concert-goers when the blast was detonated in the foyer area between the arena and the next-door Victoria station just after the Ariana Grande gig ended. Horrifying footage showed petrified children leaping over chairs and barriers as they desperately tried to escape the 21,000-seat venue, which led to a stampede. Two US officials have said it was a suspected suicide bomber. Armed officers surrounded the venue and bloodied casualties were seen being stretchered out of the concert that resembled a 'war zone'. Last night police carried out a controlled explosion at Cathedral Gardens after finding a second suspicious device. At 3am Ian Hopkins, chief constable of Greater Manchester Police, said they were treating it as a 'terrorist incident' and that the injured were being cared for at six hospitals. An hour later, Grande tweeted: 'Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don't have words.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5506254464.jpg This distressing picture purportedly shows the inside of the arena after the suicide attack at the Ariana Grande concert - its veracity has been confirmed by the two witnesses http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5498545904.jpg Casualties are stretchered out of the concert tonight after a terror attack in the Ariana Grande concert http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5497212407.jpg Concert-goers and witnesses have described the chaos after 'huge bomb-like bangs' went off in Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande gig http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5503152014.jpg A father carries away his daughter following the suspected terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5497739169.jpg This was the scene inside the Manchester Arena tonight after the suspected terror attack at the teen concert http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5492948328.jpg Concert-goers helped injured people make their way from the gig in Manchester tonight http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5506194855.jpg A child was spotted clutching a balloon while wrapped in a foil wrap following the terror attack at the Manchester Arena http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5497251895.jpg Witnesses reported hearing a 'huge bang' at the venue shortly after US singer Ariana Grande's gig finished http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5502512180.jpg This graphic shows where the explosion took place, in the foyer area, leading towards Victoria railway station... Evie Brewster, who attended the concert, told MailOnline: 'Ariana Grande had just finished her last song and left the stage when a huge explosion sounded. 'Suddenly everybody started screaming and running for the exit. 'We could hear the police and ambulance sirens. It was terrifying. 'There were thousands of people trying to get out at once. They were all screaming and crying. The whole place smelt smokey and burnt. 'The explosion sounded like it was inside the building somewhere.' Video footage showed thousands of people fleeing in tears from the venue, many covered in blood, after concert finished. Quote:

re: VIDEOs/PhOtOs-ISIS Attacks UK Again>Terror Threat Level RAISED to Critical
Interpol Circulates List of 173 Suspected Members of Isis Suicide Brigade
Exclusive: Agency believes the fighters could have been trained to bomb Europe as revenge for military defeats in Middle East The Guardian/Daily Mail UK, 22 July 2017 Interpol has circulated a list of 173 Islamic State fighters it believes could have been trained to mount suicide attacks in Europe in revenge for the group’s military defeats in the Middle East. The global crime fighting agency’s list was drawn up by UK intelligence services, from information captured during the assault on Isis territories in Syria and Iraq. European counter-terror networks are concerned that as the Isis “caliphate” collapses, there is an increasing risk of determined suicide bombers seeking to come to Europe, probably operating alone. There is no evidence that any of the people on the list, whose names the Guardian has obtained, have yet entered Europe, but the Interpol circulation, designed to see if EU intelligence sources have any details on the individuals, underlines the scale of the challenge facing Europe. The list, sent out by the general secretariat of Interpol on 27 May, defines the group of fighters as individuals that “may have been trained to build and position improvised explosive devices in order to cause serious deaths and injuries. It is believed that they can travel internationally, to participate in terrorist activities.” The data was originally collected by UK intelligence “through trusted channels”. The material was handed over to the FBI, which transmitted the list to Interpol for global sharing. A note appended to the Interpol list circulated in Italy explains how the terrorist database was constructed, putting together the pieces of the puzzle from hundreds of elements, mainly gathered when Isis local headquarters were captured. “The people,” the note says, “have been identified through materials found in the hiding places of Isil, the Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant.” The note adds that “it emerges that those subjects may have manifested willingness to commit a suicidal attack or martyrdom to support Islam”. The list shows the suspects’ names, the date Isis recruited them, their last likely address including the mosque at which they have been praying while away fighting, their mother’s name and any photographs. For each of the fighters, an ID was created to ensure that each member country in the Interpol network could integrate the data with local databases. Interpol has asked its national partners for any information they might have about each name on the list, and any other background personal data they have on their files, such as border crossings, previous criminal offences, biometric data, passport numbers, activity on social media and travel history. The information will then be included in Interpol’s ASF (automatic search facility) database in order to possibly put the names on a higher level watch list. US intelligence is apparently confident about the reliability of the sources used to compile the list. But western counter-terrorism forces have said they face an uphill struggle identifying potential suspects, who have access to a mountain of false documents, double identities and fake passports. Interpol stressed the list’s transmission came as part of its role circulating information between national crime-fighting agencies. “Interpol regularly sends alerts and updates to its national central bureaux (NCB) on wanted terrorists and criminals via our secure global police communications network,” a spokesman said. “It is the member country which provides the information that decides which other countries it can be shared with. “The purpose of sending these alerts and updates is to ensure that vital policing information is made available when and where it is needed, in line with a member country’s request.” A European counter-terrorism officer said one of the purposes of circulating the list around Europe was to identify those on it who might have been born and raised in European countries. In 2015 the UN considered there were 20,000 foreign fighters in Iraq and Syria, of whom 4,000 were from Europe, but there has not previously been a specific list of those fighters including those born in the Middle East who have been identified as potential suicide bombers. The speed with which Isis fighters are likely to attempt to reach Europe will depend on a range of issues including whether the group tries to set up a new base in Syria in the wake of the impending fall of Raqqa, its last major redoubt in north-west Syria. There is a growing suggestion that Isis fighters will shift south from Raqqa to the defensible territory stretching from Deir el-Zourez-Zor to Abu Kamal. The jihadi group is currently struggling to come to terms with the loss of Mosul in northern Iraq following a battle that produced some of the most brutal fighting since the end of the second world war. The parallel advance on Raqqa, the group’s other urban stronghold in the region, has been stalled partly due to the severity of the resistance being mounted against the Syrian Democratic Forces made up of an alliance of Kurds, Arabs and US Special forces. US Army Col Ryan Dillon on Friday estimated there were around 2,000 Isis militants in the city, who he said were using civilians and children as human shields. The distance between SDF forces on the eastern side of the city and on the western fronts is now just under 2km. The United Nations estimates that about 190,000 residents of Raqqa province have been displaced since April, including about 20,000 since the operation to seize the provincial capital began in early June. US diplomats this week admitted that the SDF forces, due to their ethnic make-up, will be constrained from going south of Raqqa to pursue Isis as far as Deir Azzour, saying this may be the task of the Syrian forces under Bashar al Assad, or even Iranian-backed Shia militia. |

ISIS Bombs London Tube > UK PM Raises Terror Threat Level to Critical
Soldiers Drafted in and Extra Armed Police on the Streets as Theresa May Raises Terror Level to CRITICAL after ISIS Claim Tube Bucket-Bomb Attack was Carried Out by a Cell of Several Jihadis
https://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com...&h=1132&crop=1 The device in a bucket exploded on a busy commuter train (Picture: Getty) The UK terror threat level has been raised from ‘severe’ to ‘critical’ in the wake of the Parsons Green terror attack. A ‘critical’ threat level indicates a further attack could be imminent. Armed police have flooded London's streets as the terror threat level was raised to critical amid fears the Parsons Green bomber could strike again, Theresa May announced tonight. The introduction of Operation Temperer will see soldiers replacing police at key sites including nuclear power plants to free up extra armed officers for regular patrols. Scotland Yard said it is making 'excellent' progress in hunting the suspected terrorist who set off a crude bucket bomb on a packed commuter train by Parsons Green tube station in west London at 8.20am. Mrs May said in a statement from Number 10: 'The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has now decided to raise the national threat level from severe to critical - this means their assessment is that a further attack may be imminent.' Minutes later Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley suggested there might have been more than one person involved, stating that police were 'chasing down suspects'. Police identified the suspected terrorist using CCTV footage but the investigation has been overshadowed by an extraordinary diplomatic row triggered by Donald Trump The US President tweeted just hours after the rush hour blast that police had the attacker 'in their sights' and should have been 'more proactive' in catching 'the loser'. Scotland Yard hit back and said Mr Trump's comments were 'pure speculation' while senior officers refused to name the suspect. The US President later rowed back on his controversial comments by posting another tweet saying, ‘our hearts and prayers go out to the people of London’. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack tonight, saying its 'soldiers' had 'planted IEDs'. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468373854.jpg A photograph of the flaming white bucket taken just after it exploded around 8.20am shows a number of wires protruding out of the top and on to the train carriage floor http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5509023174.jpg The majority of victims suffered 'flash burns' including to their heads (pictured) and several have been taken to a specialist burns unit http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5489893273.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5489893273.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5489885078.jpg A victim, believed to be a schoolchild, is carried from the station with charred legs (left) as others were treated for burns in the street and neighbouring shops (centre) and an 11-year-old who was found on the floor asking for his brother http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5504357619.jpg Theresa May gave a statement from within Downing Street in which she announced the terror threat level would be raised to critical, its highest level http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5508927979.jpg Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley suggested there may have been more than one person involved stating that police were 'chasing down suspects' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5470638287.jpg A well-dressed young woman was walked to safety by a Met officer after having her head bandaged after suffering a burn or wound to her cheek http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468374342.jpg Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade raced to the scene in west London and were there within five minutes http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468374276.jpg This photograph captured the moment the first members of the emergency services raced to the scene within five minutes of the explosion http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468705070.jpg Elite armed counter-terrorism police are at the scene amid reports of the suspect being on the run and claims of a second device http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5469577223.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5469556975.jpg At least 20 people are believed to have been injured by the blast, many of whom suffered burns from the fireball that flew through the carriage (Peter Crowley pictured left today and right before the attack) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5470587165.jpg A traumatised and injured passenger on the ill-fated Parsons Green train is taken away by paramedics and firefighters http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5471279000.jpg The majority of the victims have suffered 'flash burns' caused by the ignition - but it appears that the bomb did not properly detonate http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5496113543.jpg A forensic officer outside Parsons Green station in West London where there remains a heavy police presence as the manhunt for the suspected terrorist continues http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5501230591.jpg Security was stepped up at stations around London following this attack. Pictured is a British Transport Police officers at Euston http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5501228398.jpg A police officer watches on as commuters file into the underground at Euston Station amid newly tightened security. As Britain faced its fifth terror attack in a year it has emerged:
It was the middle of rush hour when the crude bucket bomb - which had a timer - went off at 8.20am inside a tube train packed with commuters, including children and a pregnant woman. The device was hidden in a builder's bucket and could have killed dozens but failed to properly detonate and sent a 'wall of fire' through the carriage at Parsons Green, injuring at least 29 people. Terrified passengers were left covered in blood with scorched hands, legs, faces and hair – others suffered crush injuries during a stampede as they 'ran for their lives' over fears the 'train would blow up'. London Ambulance took 19 patients to hospitals, while the others went in themselves. The four hospitals dealing with patients were Imperial, Chelsea and Westminster, Guy's and St Thomas' and St George's. Officers are tonight hunting for the bomber across London amid claims he could be armed and might have planted other explosive devices. An officer at the scene told MailOnline: 'We believe there is a second bomb - there is a man with knives on the loose.' In a pre-recorded television statement released around 8.30pm, May said military personnel would replace police officers 'on guard duties at certain protected sites which are not accessible to the public'. Quote:
Speaking moments afterwards, Assistant Commissioner Mike Rowley said: 'We are making excellent progress at the moment as we pursue our lines of inquiry to identify, locate and arrest those responsible. 'We have hundreds of police officers trawling through CCTV footage, detectives have spoken to tens of witnesses and we have taken a large number of calls to the hotline... from members of the public. 'Indeed members of the public have sent in so far 77 images and videos of the scene which they have sent in to our appeal website and these are now being assessed for evidential value.' Mr Rowley said he was only aware of one device, and the remnants of that device are being examined by experts. London Mayor Sadiq Khan told LBC radio 'there is a manhunt under way as we speak' and there have been no arrests. Mr Khan was later criticisd for using a TV interview to score political points about police cuts. He said the events backed up his argument that the Metropolitan Police needed more money. But Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said: 'I would've thought Sadiq Khan would want to keep politics out of the terror attack'. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack this evening through its Amaq News Agency, saying its 'soldiers planted IEDs'. However, the group has often made false claims in the past. Photographs show what experts believe is an 'unsophisticated' bomb in a flaming white bucket inside a Lidl freezer bag with Christmas lights protruding from the top - a type of fuse encouraged by ISIS in its online manuals. Donald Trump tweeted just hours after the rush hour blast that police had the attacker 'in their sights' and should have been 'more proactive' in catching 'the loser'. Scotland Yard hit back and said Mr Trump's comments were 'pure speculation' while senior officers refused to name the suspect. Mrs May also hit out at the President's tweet, calling it 'unhelpful', and has this evening discussed the intelligence sharing between the two countries with the President in a telephone call. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5470753361.jpg This image was taken from the platform in the minutes after the terror attack and it remained alight until the fire service arrived http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5479041118.jpg A forensics tent has been erected on the platform - although there have been no fatalities - and a single pair of shoes lies abandoned outside the door where the bomb ignited http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5469037905.jpg Horrified witnesses on social media claim there was a stampede as people were 'screaming and running' off the trains, which was searched by heavily armed police officers today http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5471693396.jpg A heavily armed officer wanders through the damaged train's carriages looking for more devices http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5469614977.jpg The abandoned train at Parsons Green today after a terrorist left a bucket bomb on the carriage floor http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5478631325.jpg Police believe the bomber may have exited the train (pictured) perhaps one or two stops before the bomb went off http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468989752.jpg Passengers on trains at Parsons Green were evacuated onto the track away to safety after London was hit by another terror attack http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5478316642.jpg Passengers are ushered across the track by firefighters after getting trapped in the aftermath of the bombing... Witnesses to the explosion said there was a loud 'bang', a flash and then a ball of flame engulfed surrounding passengers on the 'packed' District Line train. Luke Warsmey said: 'The explosion was like a large match going off at the end of the carriage. People just started sprinting. It was every man for himself when that happened. The burn victims had severe leg injuries. 'It was a very busy commuter train, young and old, school children going to their schools. I saw was nannies trying to look for kids, because of the rush of people just taking five and six year olds away from them and they were trying to look for them. 'There were lots of injuries from people being trampled on and everyone who had been close to it had the same burns to their head.' Prime Minister Theresa May chaired a meeting of the Government's Cobra emergencies committee this afternoon to discuss the terrorist attack. Mrs May later appealed to any members of the public with images of the incident to pass them to the police. Armed Police, paramedics and firefighters were all said to be at the west London station within five minutes of the explosion. A 100 yard cordon was erected around the station and a police helicopter was also overhead. The Met confirmed it was a terrorist attack around 40 minutes later. Scotland Yard said the area surrounding Parsons Green Tube station has been evacuated so specialist officers could 'secure the remnants of the improvised device and ensure it is stable'. In the aftermath armed police swooped from the SO-15 counter-terrorism unit performed a hard-stop on a bus in nearby Chelsea Bridge Road. Emma Stevie, 27, described a 'human stampede' after the bomb went off. She said: 'I heard lots of screams and people saying “run, run”. We got out and then there was a human stampede, down the stairs. 'There were people lying underneath getting crushed, a big human pile-on. I wedged myself in next to a railing. I put myself in the foetal position. I kept thinking, “I'll be ok, I'll be ok”. 'There was a pregnant woman underneath me and I was trying really hard not to crush her.' Richard Aylmer-Hall told Sky News: 'There were a few crush injuries on the stairs. People got squashed and crushed going down the stairs. Police evacuated everyone from the scene pretty quickly. 'There was screaming, pushing and shoving - it was a like there was a terrorist on the loose with a gun or something - lots of people were in tears. When it was all over lots of people were being comforted and looked after. It was total chaotic panic. 'A lady who had been on the same carriage as the device described it going off - a puff of smoke and flames coming out of it.' Couple Lucy, 24 and Fabin, 29, were on their way to work when the explosion happened. Lucy, who works in PR, said: 'We just heard screaming and sprinting, there was a stampede on the stairs and people were falling over, there was a schoolboy being lifted up after he had fallen down, he was in his school uniform, he must have been about ten, he was crying and distressed.' Fulham fitness instructor Niyi Shokunbi, 24, was in the next carriage the moment the bomb went off. He told MailOnline: 'I have never seen anything like it was like something out of a film. I thought it was an acid attack. It happened like bang within ten seconds, I just wanted to run. 'I went towards the carriage where the bomb went off a woman said you don't want to go in there. I saw a little boy with scratches on his face crying for his brother. A woman was bleeding. Everyone was running. I've never seen anything like it.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5468373893.jpg There is terror and panic at the station this morning, with police officers consoling members of the public http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...5478381827.jpg An injured man is helped into an ambulance - one of 18 ferried by ambulance to hospitals across London. People suffered burns from the explosion and others were hurt in the crush.Rob Partinton, 24, from Harrow told MailOnline: 'We were literally about two minutes from Parsons Green when the train suddenly stopped. 'I saw people running on the track opposite direction towards Fulham Broadway, I could hear no screams but a lot of people running. We've been held at the station for the last half an hour. It's pretty busy, a lot of police around and police dogs.' Another witness, Sham, said he saw a man with blood all over his face. 'There were loads of people crying and shaking,' he told Five Live. Quote:
. At the scene dozens of police and ambulances have continued to be called into the cordoned area. It is not known at this stage how many people are injured. Specialist armed anti-terror units also swamped the area. Chris Wildish, who was on the train, said he saw a 'device' in the last carriage. 'It was a white bucket, a builder's bucket, in a white Aldi bag or Lidl bag,' he told 5live. 'Flames were still coming out of it when I saw it and had a lot of wires hanging out of it'. Sylvain Pennec, a software developer from Southfields, was around 10 metres from the source of the explosion when fire filled the carriage. 'I heard a boom and when I looked there were flames all around,' he said. 'People started to run but we were lucky to be stopping at Parsons Green as the door started to open.' He described the scene of panic as commuters struggled to escape the carriage, 'collapsing and pushing' each other. Mr Pennec stayed behind to take a closer look at what he believed was the source of the explosion. 'It looked like a bucket of mayonnaise,' he said. 'I'm not sure if it was a chemical reaction or something else, but it looked homemade. I'm not an expert though.' Passengers on the train behind the affected Tube witnessed terrified passengers sprinting away up the tracks. They were then held in their train for over an hour before being evacuated on to the tracks themselves. Nicole Linnell, 29, who works for a fashion label, said: 'We saw people running down the tracks. About 30 or 40 people. 'They were running down the tracks outside our train. 'It was absolutely terrifying. Running on the tracks is the last thing you want to do so we were like 'What's going on?' 'After about an hour we were evacuated off the train on to the tracks. About 10 to 15 people at a time.' Melanie Heyside had been at a gym nearby and intended to get on a District Line train to go to work. She told Sky News: 'I just was about to open the doors to leave the studio and then all of a sudden Swat cars completely stormed and blocked the street and police jumped out with their armour and were telling people to 'move, to move'. 'So I was inside with a group of other people and we weren't really sure what to do.' She said they were told to leave the area, which she added was populated by schoolchildren and others going to work, as quickly as possible. Lady Margaret's School, next to Parson's Green tube station, put out an alert to concerned parents to say all children are okay and there are no absences. Quote:

The Caliphate Hellscape of Smoke & Fire–ISIS Has Nowhere Left to Go
ISIS Supporter Who Tried to Recruit Terrorists Around The World From UK Home Jailed For Seven Years.
ISIS Cheerleader, 23, Calling Himself 'Captain the Illiterate' Who 'Hated Smart People' Set up a Facebook Page to Encourage Attacks on The West. UK Home Office Has Now Announced The Launch of Artificial Intelligence Technology That Can Identify ISIS Propaganda Videos and Prevent Them From Being Uploaded to Any Video Platform. :clapper: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...86246605_1.jpg Independent UK, 28 Feb 2018. https://static.independent.co.uk/s3f...al-hussain.jpg Mobile phone worker Mohammed Kamal Hussain was jailed for recruiting Isis supporters Metropolitan Police A man who tried to recruit ISIS fighters around the world from his London home has been jailed. Hussain was turned in by a man from Bosnia he had targeted abroad. Police discovered his activities after the man emailed the Home Office in March 2017, saying he had received a Facebook message from a stranger inviting him to join ISIS. The Bosnian had recently created a Facebook profile when he received the unsolicited post, saying: 'I message many people on the Facebook in order to stimulate them to join the ISIS.' Investigators established the message was from Hussain, a Bangladeshi national, who had over-stayed his visa and was living in east London. They also discovered he had been sent a chemistry app by a contact via the Telegram social media service which offered a 'virtual laboratory' to 'mix chemicals in virtual containers'. It added: 'When the explosion switch is on, all explosions will occur as in reality.' He had also downloaded a recipe for a pipe bomb from an al-Qaeda magazine publication. When police arrested Hussain in a car park near his work in Purfleet in Essex, they found he had an ISIS video called 'Procession of Light' which featured suicide bombers, including a young boy, saying their prayers, getting into a vehicle and being watched by a drone as they drove to a vehicle check point and then blew themselves up. Hussain also had an open Facebook page which he used to encourage support for ISIS, including one entry that featured a picture of a child carrying a black ISIS flag and another from January last year that read: 'The West has been plundering our wealth for centuries. Now is the time for payback. In Sha' Allah, the chickens will come home to roost.' Hussain told police that he was both anti-Western and anti-Eastern, explaining that he meant 'governments, including my own Bangladeshi government in the East.' He added: 'I love everything for the sake of Allah and I hate everything for the sake of Allah.' Hussain's plan was to retrieve his passport from the Home Office and travel back to Bangladesh, before going on to Saudi Arabia to wait for 'Armageddon,' he explained in court. He added he collected ISIS publications because 'I consider IS a sign of the end of days and I want to know about their ideology. Hussain read one edition of Rumiyah, which had a guide to knife attacks 'for the ideological matter and their teachings and that sort of things, but I never read how to kill people with a knife,' he said. His collection of extremist books were about religion, he added, claiming he was 'seeking the truth' but 'never planning an attack'. But he added: 'I'm Muslim, I shouldn't like everything. I love everything for the sake of Allah and I hate everything for the sake of Allah, that's it.' The judge told him: 'Far from observing the sacred covenant of security, you disseminated your twisted views and attempted to persuade others to join you in support of Islamic State. 'You glorified activity which strikes at the very heart of a civilized and democratic society. 'In no sense do your opinions represent the beliefs of decent, law abiding and peaceful Muslims who live in this country.' Naeem Mian QC, defending, asked Hussain: 'You are an over-stayer and your passport is with the Home Office?' 'I don't have any option other than to go to Bangladesh,' he said After his arrest, Hussain claimed he was 'just doing what Facebook says to do and "share your mind".' Hussain had at least four Facebook accounts, opening a new one each time the existing account was closed by the social media company. The Judge Peter Lodder QC criticised the firm saying 'it may surprise some to know that the security services are unable to view private messages on Facebook', and had to rely on a screenshot instead. Hussain was found guilty of supporting ISIS and encouragement of terrorism. He had previously been living in London for seven years and working in a mobile phone warehouse called the London Magic Store. His student visa withdrawn after a bogus college he was attending in Whitechapel was shut down and he was contacted by the Home Office who labelled him an 'over-stayer' and ordered him to return home. While he was attending a bogus college in Whitechapel, east London, it was shut down and his student visa withdrawn. Using the name, 'Captain the illiterate', Hussain told one female contact, called Lujain Ahmed, 'I'm a simple man...I hate the smart people. Inshallah, I will be smart after I go to Paradise...before die, wanna punish some kuffar,' and added: 'I'm bored of this world.' Asked in court how he came up with the name, Hussain told Naeem Mian QC, defending: 'It doesn't have any meaning, I just liked this name.' Simon Davis, prosecuting, said it was plain that Hussain was 'aligned with Islamic State' and wanted to join them. The court heard he made Google searches for 'suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices' just two days after the Manchester Arena bombing. Then on 29 May, he looked for 'Ariana Grande' and 'Manchester attack concert' and, the next day, for 'ruling on blowing oneself up' and 'suicide bombings and martyrdom in Islam.' On 3 June, Hussain downloaded an image of the Queen and then searched for 'make terror into kafirs heart', followed the next day by 'London Bridge attack statement' from East London Mosque, the day after the attack. Hussain had earlier told Ahmed: 'I will not be calm until I make hijrah [emigrate] and fight with the kuffar...Why my sisters not like u? I should kill them.' Later the same day, he added: 'We should do something big' and on June 4, he expanded: 'If we cannot make hijrah [emigrate] then wherever we live fighting is coming upon us. 'If you live Bangladesh, UK, Middle East anywhere you go you have face fight...I believe this is the beginning of 3rd world war and it's will be end after killing dajjal [anti-christ].' Detectives at the Counter-Terrorism Referral Unit trawled thousands of messages Hussain had sent on Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp. Mohammed Kamal Hussain, 28, sent thousands of messages aiming to generate support for the terrorist group using Facebook, WhatsApp and the Telegram messaging service. Hussain, a Bangladeshi national who had overstayed his visa and was living in east London, was jailed for seven years at Kingston Crown Court. The jury found him guilty of two counts of encouraging terrorism and one count of supporting a proscribed organisation. Commander Dean Haydon, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “This investigation started with one conscientious individual trusting his instincts and reporting something suspicious. “He could have ignored the message Hussain sent him but instead he took a screenshot of the message and contacted the UK authorities immediately. It is in great part thanks to him that police were able to bring Hussain to justice.” Mr Haydon encouraged others concerned about online material to refer it to them via the website www.act.gov.uk Hussain was linked to the message by the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit, which specialises in identifying and seeking the removal of terrorist material, and an urgent investigation was launched. Detectives trawled thousands of messages sent by Hussain, including Facebook posts encouraging people to join Isis and launch attacks and which included a speech by leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Commander Haydon said the fanatic was “actively seeking to recruit Isis followers”, adding: “We know from the disturbing material we found on his devices that he supported ISIS. “The material included videos of barbaric Isis violence and warped reasoning for killing people, including children and Muslims.” Officers from Counter Terrorism Command arrested Hussain on 30 June 2017. He was sentenced after officials warned of the rising threat of “remote radicalisation” online, which makes plots harder to detect. ISIS has generated support around the world using its sophisticated propaganda network, including videos, radio bulletins, magazines, newsletters and websites. The terrorist group’s media operations suffered a hit during military offensives that drove militants out of its self-declared “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq but have since recovered. Propaganda messages are regularly sent out in multiple languages from Isis factions operating in countries including Afghanistan, Egypt and Libya, being translated and spread onwards by supporters. A global crackdown on terrorist material by firms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube has seen the vast majority of ISIS propaganda on the platforms removed, but it continues to operate on Telegram and smaller sites. Earlier this month, the Home Office announced the launch of artificial intelligence technology that can identify Isis propaganda videos and prevent them from being uploaded to any video platform. :clapper: ISIS has generated support around the world using its sophisticated propaganda network, including videos, radio bulletins, magazines, newsletters and websites. 800 Jihadists to Wreak Havoc if Britain Does Not Take Back Fighters, US Warns
Britain and its European allies are running out of time to take back their jihadists captured in Syria to prevent a surge in terror attacks on home soil, Donald Trump and senior US officials have warned. The Telegraph UK, 17 FEB 2019. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=450 With Isil's caliphate on the brink of collapse Trump administration officials have told The Sunday Telegraph they fear some of the 800 detained soldiers will wreak havoc unless European governments put them on trial. US president Donald Trump tweeted on Saturday night warning that Isil fighters could "permeate Europe" and called on Britain, France and Germany to "step up" and put the prisoners on trial in their countries. He said: "The Caliphate is ready to fall. The alternative is not a good one in that we will be forced to release them. "The US does not want to watch as these ISIS fighters permeate Europe, which is where they are expected to go. "We do so much, and spend so much - Time for others to step up and do the job that they are so capable of doing. We are pulling back after 100% Caliphate victory!" The rare rebuke by America of its anti-Isil coalition partners comes as the British government showed further signs of division on how to handle stranded foreign fighters and their family members. David Gauke, the Justice Secretary, said on Saturday that the UK could be powerless to stop Shamima Begum, the 19-year-old Isil bride from Bethnal Green, returning home, saying that “we can't make people stateless”. That clashed with the stance of Sajid Javid, the Home Secretary, who had insisted earlier this week he would “not hesitate” to prevent the return of anyone who supported terrorist organisations abroad. With coalition forces preparing to declare victory over Isil and America’s troop withdrawal from Syria imminent, there is intense concern in Washington that "time is running out" to bring the terror group’s fighters to justice. Many are being held by the US-backed Kurds, a stateless group that have demanded Britain and others take the fighters off their hands. One well-placed US government source said that Britain’s refusal to take back UK jihadists was effectively a policy of “leave them at large and hope they don’t find a way back”. Another said that European allies had been warned their countries would be at risk if captured jihadists “are not locked up for a long time”. There are also concerns that any Isil fighters who reach Europe could make their way to America undetected because of the visa waiver scheme. While suspected terrorists should be on watch lists that would stop them boarding a plane, US officials acknowledge the system is not “foolproof”. A senior UK government figure involved in the discussions defended the position, insisting that Britain wanted the jihadists to face justice in the Middle East. Ministers also fear they would struggle to secure prosecutions because of the legal difficulties in bringing fighters back to the UK and the makeup of current laws. Sources told The Sunday Telegraph that at least seven British men are among the foreign fighters detained in Syria. The declaration of victory over Isil’s caliphate appeared imminent last night as its fighters were pushed back to a pocket of land just 700 meters squared in eastern Syria. The terror group had once controlled an area the size of Britain. Donald Trump, the US president, had forecast a final defeat would come on Saturday but Syrian Democratic Forces commanders slowed a push on the village of Baghouz over fears that civilians were being used as human shields. The end of Isil’s territorial control does not mean total victory over the terror group, which still has thousands of fighters at large and a string of sleeper cells in Syria and Iraq. However it is the moment of success which Mr Trump has been waiting for, with the withdrawal of America's 2,000 troops expected to swiftly follow - possibly as early as April. The decision to withdraw, which was made before Christmas and both infuriated allies and triggered his defence secretary Jim Mattis to resign, has created looming uncertainty about what will happen in the region next. Mike Pence, the US vice president, on Saturday attempted to calm fears at a security conference in Germany, saying: "The United States will continue to work with all our allies to hunt down the remnants of Isis wherever and whenever they rear their ugly heads.” But the rift with allies was clear. Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, said: “Is it a good idea for the Americans to suddenly and quickly withdraw from Syria? Or will it once more strengthen the capacity of Iran and Russia to exert their influence?" Britain’s refusal to take back jihadists who fled the UK to Syria and put them on trial - including two alleged members of the notorious ‘Beatles’ terror cell - has frustrated the Trump administration. However one senior UK government figure involved in discussions defended the position, saying that it wanted British jihadists to face justice in the Middle East. Ministers have also argued that successful prosecution in the UK would be difficult to secure. Discussing Miss Begum’s future on Saturday, Mr Gauke said: “Obviously we have to act within the powers that we have.” He added: “It is the case we can't make people stateless, but without getting to drawn into the specifics, the approach that we take as a government, which is the responsible one, is to ensure that we protect the British public. That is the key thing." |

The Last Stand of ISIS: The SDF & Coalition Assault Resumes on Final ISIS Stronghold After The Brutal Assault Halted to Allow Thousands to Flee The Jihadists
A spokesman for the SDF said they would continue their assault on Baghouz in eastern Syria where the once proud 'caliphate' has been brought to its knees. Mustafa Bali said there were 'only terrorists left in Baghouz' and announced his forces would resume their efforts after halting last month. Experts believe their are still hundreds of IS militants who have cowered behind their wives and children in caves and tunnels in their last bastion. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464248658.jpg On their knees: A Bosnian man suspected of being an ISIS fighter kneels before SDF men as he surrenders from Baghouz on Friday https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464336004.jpg Men and boys suspected of being Islamic State group fighters raise up their hands as they await to be searched by members of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464344144.jpg Two injured boys suspected of being Islamic State supporters lay on the back of a truck... Thousands of men - many of them suspected terrorists - women and children have limped from the ruins in the last three weeks. They have been painstakingly driven out into the desert, separated and screened by the Kurdish forces before being moved north to camps in al-Hol. The military campaign to drive out the the militants from the eastern banks of the Euphrates began in September, pushing them down toward this last corner in the village near the Iraqi border. The military operation was halted on February 12 after the SDF discovered there was still a large number of civilians and hostages in the territory, which sits atop caves and tunnels where they had been hiding. The evacuees said food was running low and clean water and medicine were scarce. Many defended what remained of the extremist group's territorial hold, which once spanned a third of Iraq and Syria. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464470219.jpg An SDF militia man raises the hat of a Bosnian man suspected of fighting for the brutal Islamic State terror group https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464405915.jpg Filthy and distraught looking children are loaded onto the back of truck as they await transport by the SDF on the outskirts of Baghouz https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464442403.jpg A girl waits to be screened on neutral ground away from the miserable last stronghold at Baghouz https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464410970.jpg Heavily shrouded women in the niqab, one holding a small child, wait to be screened by the SDF forces after making a last minute surrender Bali would not speculate on how long the military operation might take but said he expects a 'fierce battle.' He said the battles are expected to take place in a very small area that includes a complex network of tunnels, as well as suicide bombers and land mines. 'The battle to finish off what is left Daesh has started,' said SDF commander Adnan Afrin, using the Arabic acronym for IS. The capture of the last pocket still held by IS fighters in Baghouz would mark the end of a devastating four-year global campaign to end the extremist group's hold on territory in Syria and Iraq - their so-called 'caliphate' that at the height of the group's power in 2014 controlled nearly a third of both Iraq and Syria. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464449066.jpg A little girl gazes up at an SDF fighter who holds his assault rifle fast as his comrades work to screen those fleeing ISIS https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464463126.jpg Boys clamber up the sides of a truck while women sit in the back as they await transport, hoping to be taken to safety at the camps in al-Hol https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/03...1464455988.jpg Yezidi boys share a meal in a area held by the US-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces In the last week alone, 13,000 people, most of them women and children, arrived at the al-Hol camp in Hassakeh province which now houses approximately 45,000 people, according to the United Nations. In a statement Friday, the U.N. cited reports that more than 84 people, two thirds of them young children under five years of age, have died since December on their way to al-Hol camp after fleeing the extremist group in Syria's Deir el-Zour province. 'Many of the arrivals are exhausted, hungry and sick,' according to Jens Laerke, spokesman of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), at a news briefing in Geneva. There is a flash of light in the dark town as an airstrike hits an Islamic State weapons depot. A few seconds later, a ball of flame engulfs the entire neighbourhood. The sonic boom sends shockwaves through Baghuz, shaking the ground miles away, and for a second everything and everyone is stunned into silence. Then the artillery fire starts up again. Five years after Isis swept across Syria and Iraq, all that remains of the “caliphate” that at its peak stretched across two countries and controlled 10 million people is a handful of streets in a bend of the Euphrates river running through this desert town, which will be retaken in the next few days. . |
The Miami Showband Massacre -FULL VIDEO
The Miami Showband Massacre > Released on Netflix
A deep dive into one of the worst atrocities of the Northern Ireland Troubles. It is a powerful tribute to the work of one man, Stephen Travers, who has kept the case alive Irish Central, 27 MAR 2019. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...rishFlag-1.jpg As so many times justice in Ireland for the innocent comes down to one man and his determination to never give up. A new Netflix documentary, "ReMastered – The Miami Showband Massacre", tells the incredible story of where that quest for the truth leads him. The man is Stephen Travers who was a 24-year-old masterful bass player with the legendary Miami Showband, Ireland's hottest band in the 1970s. He had no interest in politics, just music. His life changed forever on July 31, 1975, with the killing of three members of the band which took place at a fake UVF checkpoint as the band members traveled home late at night from a gig in Banbridge, County Down. The shocking murders of three innocent musicians on a lonely border road created enormous shockwaves throughout Ireland and abroad that reverberates to this day. Travers remembers vividly the checkpoint which the band members thought was an official British Army one and not unexpected in that dark era. He remembers the armed men, the officer with the British accent overseeing the stop operation the growing sense of apprehension as they were lined up on the lonely road. Two of the UVF gunmen placed a camouflaged bomb in the rear of the van, set to explode soon after the band allowed to continue on its way The bomb went off prematurely killing the two who had planted it. The rest of the armed unit began shooting at the band. Travers tried to escape but a dum dum bullet struck him breaking into sixteen pieces within his body. He played dead. Only one other member of the band, Des McLea, who has also joined in the battle to learn the truth of that awful night, survived. The Netflix documentary proves the British Government collusion in the murders. https://www.irishcentral.com/uploads...avers-band.jpg The Miami Showband, photographed in the 1970s. The British officer at the scene was Captain Robert Nairac whose subsequent capture and execution by the IRA remains one of the oft-examined stories of The Troubles The UVF gang who shot the men was led by Robert Jackson, AKA The Jackal, Ireland's greatest ever mass murderer suspected of killing up to 50 Catholics. The plan apparently was to have the bomb explode in the van, have the band members labeled as terrorists and put pressure on the Irish government to seal the border. https://www.irishcentral.com/uploads...d_massacre.jpg The remains at the Miami Showband Massacre site. Unnamed Intelligence officers personally acquainted with Jackson stated that he was a psychopath who would often dress up and attend the funerals of his victims because he felt a need "to make sure they were dead." The Netflix documentary reports extensively on Travers and his search for the truth. Thwarted at every turn, feeling the power of the hidden hand cover-up led by MI5, the heroic tale of how Travers overcame it all makes for gripping viewing. It will reach millions of viewers who would not normally have heard of the Miami Showband and the brutal attack which left him so badly wounded in 1975. https://www.irishcentral.com/uploads...en_travers.jpg A Miami Showband Massacre survivor, Steven Travers. Travers says the documentary will give a powerful boost to his cause: “I want to show that we can learn from history. And I want to remind people that we are not going away anywhere in our search for justice. It’s a story to highlight the injustice for all of the victims and families on all sides. The attack on our band was totally unnecessary." Travers believes he has an important story to tell about the failure of violence to resolve political problems and believes his story is more important than ever as wrangling over Brexit heightens tensions between Britain and Ireland. “It’s important to remind people that violence caused terrible, terrible problems. It failed the people who used it as an instrument for social change. It failed in every single way. It wasn’t successful at all. The people involved in the violence have all renounced it and rejected it. It’s proven that it didn’t work,” he says. Sri Lanka Attacks: Islamic State Group Claims Responsibility -
BBC News 24 APR 2019. IS may be linked to bomb blasts which killed more than 320 people and wounded 500, Sri Lanka’s prime minister has said. He conceded that a failure to share intelligence prevented security services from acting to stop the bombings. Police have now detained 40 suspects in connection with the attack, all of whom were Sri Lankan nationals. It’s been a day of national mourning across the country, as the mass funerals took place after Easter Sunday's suicide attacks on churches and hotels. Eight Britons were among those killed in the blasts. A state of emergency remains in effect to prevent further attacks. Clive Myrie and Rajini Vaidyanathan report on those affected in Sri Lanka, while Gordon Correra examines how IS might be involved. Part of the BBC News at Ten’s coverage of the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka. One of the attackers who carried out the devastating suicide bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday had studied in the UK and Australia, the country’s defence minister has said. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the bombings, believed to be the most lethal ever conducted by the group. “We believe that one of the suicide bombers studied in the UK and later did his postgraduate [studies] in Australia before coming back and settling in Sri Lanka,” said Ruwan Wijewardene at a media briefing on Wednesday. Wijewardene confirmed that many of the bombers had international connections, having lived or studied abroad. “This group of suicide bombers, most of them are well-educated and come from middle or upper-middle class, so they are financially quite independent and their families are quite stable financially. That is a worrying factor in this,” he said. “Some of them have I think studied in various other countries, they hold degrees, LLMs [law degrees], they’re quite well-educated people.” British counter-terrorism investigators said they were unaware Sri Lanka was going to announce publicly that one of the suspected attackers had British links. A Metropolitan police spokesperson said: “We do not discuss who we may or may not be investigating as part of counter-terrorism investigations.” On Wednesday, the death toll from the attacks on three churches and three luxury hotels in and around the capital, Colombo, rose to 359, with 500 injured. Eighteen suspects were arrested overnight, bringing the total number detained to 58, said a police spokesman, Ruwan Gunasekara. Despite the scale of the security operation, Sri Lanka’s prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, warned that several suspects armed with explosives had yet to be found. Wickremesinghe said there were more explosives and militants “out there”, and confirmed reports there had been a failed attack against a fourth major hotel, and that the Indian embassy was also a possible target. Up to nine people directly linked to the attack could still be at large, sources involved in the investigation said. The defence minister said the investigation was continuing and authorities expected to make further arrests in the coming days. “We can firmly say in the next couple of days our security agencies will have the situation of this country firmly under control,” said Wijewardene. One of the nine bombers was a woman who killed herself and two children when police closed in on a safe house. She is believed to have been the wife of one of two brothers who attacked two hotels. Among those detained was the Sri Lankan landlord who had provided rental accommodation to some of the attackers. His sister told the Guardian her brother had done nothing wrong. “They are saying the one who blasted [on Sunday] has come to his house, but this is not true at all,” she said. “He is a very innocent guy.” The developments came as Sri Lanka’s president called for a massive security overhaul. Maithripala Sirisena called for the resignation of the most senior defence and police officials for their failure to act on repeated warnings transmitted by Indian and other intelligence services in the weeks and days before the attacks. Sirisena has repeatedly said he had not been made aware of the warnings. Sri Lankan military personnel stand guard on a main road near the president’s house in Colombo. Alaina Teplitz, the US ambassador in Sri Lanka, told reporters that “clearly there was some failure in the system” but said the US had no prior knowledge of a threat before the attacks, the worst violence in the south Asian island nation since its civil war ended a decade ago. Teplitz called that breakdown in communication at the top levels of government “incredibly tragic”. The warnings – made two weeks before the attacks, with possibly a further communication about a potential threat just hours before the blasts – appears to have been based on Indian agencies’ interrogations of Isis sympathisers arrested late last year in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The detainees are reported to have revealed the existence of a plot to launch mass casualty attacks led by Zahran Hashim, a radical Islamist cleric based in the east of Sri Lanka, who may have been among the suicide bombers who attacked on Sunday. Hashim could be seen in a video released by Isis on Tuesday following its claim of responsibility. Dressed in a black tunic and headscarf and carrying a rifle, the cleric is seen leading a group of men, said to be Sunday’s attackers, in a pledge of allegiance to the leader of Isis, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Western and south Asian officials said that Hashim had started a group of extremists in a small village in eastern part of the island and attracted disaffected young men. However the middle-aged cleric travelled overseas about two years ago. Security agencies followed Hashim’s online extremist activism closely and were concerned that he could develop links to either al-Qaida or Isis. ISIS Beatle Ringo Saved Jihadi John's LIfe and Laughed at Execution Videos
EXCLUSIVE: ISIS terrorist Alexanda Kotey saved Mohammed Emwazi's life on the battlefield - nine months later he became the terror group's executioner Daily Mirror UK, 19 JUNE 2019. ISIS terrorist Alexanda Kotey enabled fellow Brit Jihadi John to become the caliphate’s executioner by saving his life on the battlefield only months earlier. In an astonishing jail cell confession, Kotey told of his friendship with fellow Londoner Mohammed Emwazi. The pair were in the British terror cell nicknamed The Beatles by their prisoners in Syria, with leader Emwazi dubbed John and Kotey as Ringo. Incredibly Kotey, 35, said the fact Emwazi slaughtered a series of *innocent victims did not change his *feelings about his old pal from West London – because the killings were only “two minutes of his life”. And he admitted he wept when the thug was killed by a US drone in November 2015, aged 27. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...d-known-as.jpg Jihadi John, real name Mohammed Emwazi, was killed in a drone strike in November 2015 (Image: X80001) Even with his future hanging in the balance in a jail in northern Syria, and desperate to minimise his role in IS, he still will not condemn the monster. At a secret jail location in the Kurdish-held Rojava region, he told the Daily Mirror how he saved Emwazi when he was shot by anti-terror rebel group the Free Syrian Army in fierce fighting near the country’s second biggest city Aleppo in early 2014. He said: “We were in the Aleppo countryside surrounded by Free Syrian Army factions and they’d taken the nearby town from us. We had been told to regain it and attacked. “We were attacking from a group of olive groves and tried to cut across an open field. He was in front of me. I was fighting alongside Emwazi. We got just half way and came under fire. We both went down and he was shot. “He was lying there. The bullet had hit him in the back at an angle and we managed to roll into cover. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ihadi-John.jpg Kotey had saved Emwazi's life on the battlefield (Image: Daily Mirror) “I held him in my lap and I really thought he was breathing his last breath. I struggled with him and got him into a car and we rushed him to a makeshift hospital and he survived.” https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...19Kotey_01.jpg Months later, Emwazi caused worldwide horror when he appeared in a series of internet videos beheading Western hostages. We spoke to Kotey in the most in-depth interview he has given from his cell, where he has been held since his arrest in 2017 by Kurdish forces outside the Syrian city of Raqqa, capital of the now-defunct caliphate. Dressed in a scruffy blue sweatshirt, jogging bottoms and sandals he was unusually frank in our 90-minute interview, as he sipped sugary local tea, and even passed a glass to me. We negotiated for days to get access to Kotey, and restrictions were placed on what we could ask him – which we have agreed not to reveal. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...xe-KoteyED.jpg Kotey while he was part of ISIS (Image: ITV News) The US State Department calls Kotey a “designated terrorist” who “likely engaged in the group’s executions and exceptionally cruel torture methods”. It says he was a “recruiter responsible for recruiting several UK nationals to join the terrorist organisation”. All Western jihadi detainees are awaiting their fate in Rojava. Some French prisoners have been sent to Baghdad and tried and hanged. There is some support across Europe for a trial to be held in Kurdish-controlled northern Syria. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...19Kotey_02.jpg In our meeting Kotey repeatedly said he “regretted becoming a jihadi” and wants to return to Britain. But the more he revealed the less I felt he was repentant. His bond with Emwazi was first forged on the streets of London, where Kotey grew up in Ladbroke Grove. Both were linked to the “London Boys” network of extremists who connected through football and traded essays on radical Islam. The pair travelled to Syria together in 2012 as extremists fought to establish a caliphate in the region after the 2011 uprising against President Bashar Assad’s regime. As the thugs took grip, a series of videos in 2014 showed Emwazi beheading Westerners. But despite claiming he privately objected to the films, Kotey admitted the pair remained friends. They were so close that their wives also became friends and stayed in touch. Kotey admitted he broke down and cried when a US drone blew Emwazi up with a hellfire missile in Syria, killing him instantly. He heard the news from hundreds of miles away while he was at IS “sniper school”. Kotey admits he cried when he found out Jihadi John had died Asked how he had felt, Kotey said: “I cried. I was completing my sniper training in the Hama area [in the west of the country]. "We’d done the theory, this was the practical. We were living in caves because there was a lot of bombardments at the time. “I asked the person in charge of snipers if I could be allowed to return to Raqqa to check out news about a friend and he allowed me to go. “I didn’t tell him who he was. I didn’t like to make it known I had that *relationship. Emwazi himself was not known – I mean that he was the person behind the mask. “Even in Islamic State many people did not know. When I arrived back in Raqqa I got to my house and my wife informed me he had been killed. “I cried and decided to stay at home for while and not speak to anybody. I don’t think anyone dared to go to his funeral except people in the hospital and the ones who buried him.” As Jihadi John’s notoriety grew he became more remote, having been warned by the IS security bureau that he was a massive target for the CIA in the US. His first known victim was James Foley, a US journalist who had been held with a number of Western hostages. Kotey now wants to return to the UK Foley was killed in a video that was released in August 2014 and his death was followed in the coming months with that of Brit Alan Henning, and Americans Peter Kassig and Steven Sotloff. Two Japanese civilians were also murdered. UK journalist John Cantlie survived the initial executions and was apparently forced to appear in pro-IS videos. He is feared to have been killed in Mosul, IS’s second HQ in Iraq. Telling how Emwazi became remote after the killings, Kotey said: “At that time there was no contact between the wives because of security. "We didn’t know where his house was because at the beginning of the beheadings he moved. Whenever he wanted to visit he’d come to our house. "He never gave his location. I didn’t find out where he lived until he was killed. He was not far from me.” Asked how he could have stayed friends with the killer, Kotey said: “It is difficult to understand maybe if you don’t have a friend who’s done that. “I was there when he got married, I held his baby. I held him when he was shot and taking what I thought to be his last breath and he was passed out on my lap. When you go through *experiences like that with someone...” Kotey seemed then to remember to distance himself from the jihadi. He added: “I didn’t have a lot of interaction with him to be honest, to say if he changed as a person in Syria. I guess he took on more of a persona of *leadership or someone who had a whole different level of responsibility.” He claimed Jihadi John may not entirely have agreed with the IS leadership, despite being close to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group’s Iraqi chief. He said: “I understood from him there were things he didn’t agree with but the difference between him and others was that he was prepared to be obedient towards the leadership.” Asked if the instructions to behead hostages came from Baghdadi he replied: “Of course.” Asked about meetings between Baghdadi and Jihadi John, he said: “He met him. He prayed behind him in the Mosque in Mosul.” But comparing the friend he came to Syria with to the thug Jihadi John, Kotey appeared to dismiss the beheadings. He said: “It’s not something I give a lot of thought about – when I think about him, what he done, despite my disagreement with what he done. “It’s not something that overshadows my memories of him. They were very short. They were powerful messages but they were very short, two minutes of his life.” But then he adds: “I can’t, erm, honestly turn a blind eye to them.” Islamic State 'Beatle' Alexanda Kotey 'organised plot to execute soldiers' in London | ITV News Lets see if he is still laughing when he lands in the flames of HELL... |
VIDEO -Multiple Cops Shot in Philadelphia US
Philadelphia Shooting > At Least 6 Cops Shot ... Suspect is Barricaded in Home.
6 Philly Officers Shot During 'Active Firefight', 7th Officer Hurt AP 14 AUG 2019 "It was like a war," a mother, who lives in the neighborhood, told NBC10. "Like the scenes that you see in war. The guns, the fire, the noise. It was like bombs going off simultaneously at a time where people are having dinner." The gun battle's still active in the North Philly neighborhood of Nicetown-Tioga ... where dozens of cops can be seen taking cover while surrounding a home with at least 1 barricaded suspect. The attack was reportedly triggered after cops tried serving a warrant there. A standoff continues in North Philadelphia Wednesday evening more than three hours after at least six Philadelphia police officers were shot during what officials called "an active firefight." The shooting, in the city's Nicetown-Tioga section, prompted a massive response to the largely residential North Philadelphia neighborhood. As of 8 p.m., two officers remained trapped inside a home where an ongoing shoot-out stretched into a third hour. Officials were attempting to communicate with the gunman and "imploring him to surrender," police said. Gunfire initially erupted around 4:30 p.m. after narcotics officers served a warrant to a house near the corner of North 15th and West Butler streets, according to officials. As officers rushed upstairs, a gunman waiting downstairs with an AK-47 fired shots through the ceiling. Police returned fire and a standoff ensued. A seventh police officer responding to the scene was injured in a car accident at the nearby intersection of North Broad and West Cayuga streets. A pedestrian was also injured, police say. All of the officers are expected to survive, officials said. At least one suspect was taken into custody shortly after the firefight started, according to police. Officers continue to battle with a second gunman, who remains barricaded inside a home as of 7 p.m. "It was like a war - like a scene that you see in war," a woman who lives in the neighborhood told NBC10. "The guns, the fire, the noise - it was like bombs going off simultaneously at a time where people are having dinner." Frantic calls from responding officers first came in around 4:30 p.m., according to audio obtained via Broadcastify. "Officer calls for everything you got. SWAT, long gun," a law enforcement officer can be heard saying on the audio. "I got an officer shot." The officers were seen crouching behind cars, blocking off surrounding streets and surrounding several nearby homes as the firefight unfolded. Nearby, stunned families and neighbors gathered behind police tape. Several churches and a day care are in the immediate area. The day care, Precious Babies Learning Academy, serves children as young as 8 weeks old. It was placed on on lock down while 80 children remained inside, according to owner Yvonne Thomas-Curry. "It was reported that all the children are safe, however we still are asking the parents to not come near the scene," she said. "It still is dangerous. Children will remain in shelter in place and safe inside with their teachers." As Thomas-Curry spoke to NBC10, the children were escorted out of the day care by police. They will be reunited with their families at a safe location. Nicetown-Tioga is roughly 2 miles north of Temple University and about 4 miles north of Center City. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Police Commissioner Richard Ross, District Attorney Larry Krasner and U.S. Attorney William McSwain all arrived at the hospital shortly after injured officers were taken for medical treatment. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and President Donald Trump were also monitoring the developing situation. A lockdown at Temple University's Health Sciences Center campus has been lifted. The shooting caused major delays for SEPTA's bus and trolley services. This story is developing. Check back for updates. LIVE VIDEOS: |
Re: VIDEO -Multiple Cops Shot in Philadelphia US
UPDATE:
A suspect has been taken into custody after injuring six officers in a shootout in the US city of Philadelphia. A gun battle broke out between police and a male shooter at around 16:30 local time (20:30 GMT). The officers were serving a drugs warrant at a home in Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tiago neighbourhood when the gunman opened fire. A lengthy stand-off ensued as police urged the gunman to surrender. A video on social media purportedly shows the suspect, named by US media as Maurice Hill, leaving the house with his hands in the air. The suspect's lawyer Shaka Johnson told CBS3 he helped police negotiate Mr Hill's surrender. A SWAT team rescued two officers and three others who were trapped inside the home with the gunman, police said. Police Commissioner Richard Ross said the SWAT team "were able to use stealth" to safely evacuate the officers from a "hostage situation". Mr Ross said the trapped officers were holding people they arrested during a raid "that went awry almost immediately". The gunman fired on the SWAT team's truck outside the home, where police wearing bulletproof vests took cover behind cars with guns drawn. At one point, the shooter was said to be was livestreaming the incident on Facebook, according to local media reports. During the seven-hour stand-off, officers attempted to "communicate with the shooter" and urged him to give himself up, police Sergeant Eric Gripp tweeted. Negotiators attempted to call the suspect's phone and were working with a family member and his lawyer. Six officers who sustained non-life threatening injuries in the shooting have been released from hospital. Mr Ross said "many of them had to escape through windows and doors" as the suspect fired. "It's nothing short of a miracle that we don't have multiple officers killed today," the commissioner said. A seventh officer, who was injured in a car crash while responding to the shooting, remains in the hospital. A witness told local media she heard more than 100 gunshots and people running for their lives. "They kept us safe the whole time, the whole time, they kept us safe," one woman said of the officers. Video from the scene shows dozens of police cars and officers outside the home where the gunman was hunkering down. US President Donald Trump was briefed on the shooting, deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley said. The incident comes after two mass shootings - in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio - brought the debate about gun control in the US into sharp focus. |

He had been living in the Staffordshire area and officers were searching the address London Bridge Attack: Victim Named as Jack Merritt Narwhal tusk and fire extinguisher used to tackle attacker The day after: ‘We are still here, singing’ The Guardian / Daily Mirror UK, 30 NOV 2019. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...9000004FB0.jpg Usman Khan, 28 The London Bridge attacker who killed a man and a woman was a convicted Islamist terrorist who was automatically freed from prison a year ago and wearing an electronic monitoring tag. Inspired by al-Qaida, Usman Khan, 28, and others had plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange and target other sites including the Houses of Parliament and the US Embassy, as well as then-mayor Boris Johnson, the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral and two rabbis. UK-born Khan, who wanted to build a terrorist training camp on his family's land in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, was charged in December 2010 and convicted in February 2012 of terrorism offences, but was released from prison last December on licence. Judge Mr Justice Wilkie gave the jihadist an indeterminate sentence with at least eight years, saying he should not be released until he was no longer a threat to the public. But the indeterminate sentence was quashed by the Court of Appeal in April 2013 and he was given a 16-year jail term. The terrorist was automatically freed halfway through that term. Less than a year after being freed, Khan - armed with a knife in each hand and wearing a fake suicide vest - launched a terrifying rampage in the heart of the capital, killing two and injuring three others before he was tackled by heroic witnesses and shot dead at point-blank range by armed police within minutes. Khan's home in a block of flats in Stafford was being searched by police. Neighbours said he had been living there for at least a few weeks. It is said that Khan had been enrolled in the government's deradicalisation programme. One of the injured survivors was in a critical but stable condition in hospital following the incident, which came two years after a terror attack in London Bridge and Borough Market left eight people dead. Two of the heroes who fought back and disarmed the suspect were a man who sprayed Khan with a fire extinguisher and a man - said to be a Polish chef named Lukasz - who wielded a 5ft narwhal tusk that was taken from a wall at nearby Fishmongers' Hall, where the attack started. The homegrown terrorist and some of those who stopped him were at the hall, on the north side of the bridge, for a University of Cambridge conference called Learning Together. Khan is said to have "threatened to blow up" the building as he launched his attack. It is understood that is Khan was invited to the event on prison rehabilitation to share his experiences as a former inmate. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ardiff-mee.jpg Usman Khan (third from right) and the other terror suspects who were jailed in 2012 (Image: Police Handout Picture) Khan was being monitored with an electronic tag on his ankle when he was released from jail a year ago and had current links to Islamist terror groups. He was a "student" and personal friend of Islamist hate preacher Anjem Choudary at the time of his arrest in 2010, the Henry Jackson Society think-tank said. One of the half dozen or so heroes was a murderer who was attending the same conference on day release. James Ford, 42, was jailed for life in 2004 for the murder of 21-year-old Amanda Champion, who was found strangled with her throat cut in Ashford, Kent, in July 2003. Tour guides Thomas Gray, 24, and Stevie Hurst, 32, and an off-duty plainclothes police officer also helped to disarm or pin down the attacker as armed police raced to the scene. The heroes didn't know at the time that the suicide vest was fake. A source told PA that Khan had previously participated in the Learning Together prisoner rehabilitation programme but had showed "no cause for concern". It is understood that Khan started "lashing out" in a downstairs room of the hall, but was grabbed by the conference-goers and bundled out of the front door as he tried to go upstairs. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...g_12815JPG.jpg Khan was wearing a fake suicide vest when he launched his attack in London (Image: Sky News) Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said investigators were "not actively seeking anyone else" over the attack which unfolded just before 2pm on Friday. In a statement, Mr Basu said: "The investigation into the attack near London Bridge continues at a pace. "Whilst we are still in the early stages of the investigation, at this time we are not actively seeking anyone else in relation to the attack. "However, we continue to make fast time enquiries to ensure that no other people were involved in this attack and that there is no outstanding threat to the public. "As I stated earlier, police were called at 1.58pm to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge, EC1. Emergency services attended, including officers from the City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police. "A male suspect was shot by specialist armed officers and I can confirm that he died at the scene. "We are now in a position to confirm the identity of the suspect as 28-year-old Usman Khan, who had been residing in the Staffordshire area. "As a result, officers are, tonight, carrying out searches at an address in Staffordshire. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin..._SEARCH_05.jpg A block of flats in Stafford was being searched by specialist police teams (Image: Tom Maddick SWNS) |
Mass Shooting in Canada by Police Imposter >16 Dead
Gunman Kills 16 in Nova Scotia in Canada's Worst Mass Shooting RAMPAGE
Police say the gunman, 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, appeared at one stage to have been wearing part of a police uniform. Several bodies were found inside and outside one home in the small, rural town of Portapique, about 60 miles (100 kilometres) north of Halifax - what police called the first scene. Bodies were also found at other locations and buildings set on fire. "This is one of the most senseless acts of violence in our province's history," said Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) spokesman Daniel Brien confirmed that 16 people had been killed in addition to the suspect. The dead officer was identified as Constable Heidi Stevenson, a mother of two and a 23-year veteran of the force. Another officer was also wounded. https://www.aljazeera.com/mritems/Im...b17e225_18.jpg An undated photograph of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) cruiser, altered by the RCMP to point out the car's unique number, is shown in an appeal to the public after they say multiple-victim shooting suspect Gabriel Wortman could be driving the car and wearing an RCMP uniform near Portapique [RCMP Nova Scotia/Handout via Reuters] https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/ru...00a18592507021 Police identified the man believed to be the shooter as Gabriel Wortman, 51, who was thought to live part of the time in Portapique. Authorities said he wore a police uniform at one point and made his car look like a RCMP vehicle. Authorities believe he may have deliberately singled out his first victims before he began attacking randomly. Police first announced that they had arrested Wortman at a petrol station in Enfield, outside Halifax, but later said he had died. It was not clear how and they did not explain further. Brien, the RCMP spokesman, said he could not rule out that the death toll could still rise. Police did not say what the initial motive was. RCMP Chief Superintendent Chris Leather said many of the victims did not know the attacker. "That fact that this individual had a uniform and a police car at his disposal certainly speaks to it not being a random act," Leather said. He added that police believe he acted alone. At one point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police, he said. Late on Sunday morning, there were half a dozen police vehicles at the scene of the gas station where the suspect died. Yellow police tape surrounded the gas pumps, and a large silver-coloured four-wheel drive was being investigated. Mass shootings are relatively rare in Canada. The country overhauled its gun-control laws after its worst mass shooting in 1989, when gunman Marc Lepine killed 14 women and himself at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique college. It is illegal to possess an unregistered handgun or any kind of rapid-fire weapon in Canada. Purchasing a weapon requires training, a personal risk assessment, two references, spousal notification and criminal record checks. "As a country, in moments like these, we come together to support one another. Together we will mourn with the families of the victims, and help them get through this difficult time," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a written statement. https://www.newswirenow.com/wp-conte...g-1024x683.jpg https://e3.365dm.com/20/04/768x432/s...20200420002939 Constable Heidi Stevenson.... Spanish Police Arrest Former British Rapper Turned ISIS Extremist
Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, from Maida Vale London, was one of most wanted militants in Europe The Guardian UK, 22 APR 2020 https://socialmediaseo.net/wp-conten...-1024x1024.jpg Spanish police have arrested a former British rapper turned Islamic State extremist, Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, one of the most wanted militants in Europe, in a counter-terrorism swoop on Tuesday. http://static2.nydailynews.com/polop...ames-foley.jpg British and other sources confirmed his identity a few hours after the national police agency in Madrid said it had arrested an Egyptian national and two other men in a flat in the southern Spanish city of Almeria. Originally from Maida Vale in London, Bary was a joint British-Egyptian national but he was stripped of his UK citizenship because of his links to the terror group. Once considered a notorious Isis figure, he had disappeared from view in recent years. One source said he had been arrested shortly after entering Spain from Algeria, but this could not immediately be confirmed. A video posted by the Spanish national police showed three men being led away from a flat with their faces covered. A police statement described one of the men arrested as among the most wanted Isis fighters in Europe. Bary, 29, is the son of Adel Abdel Bary, who was convicted of US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 213 people. The younger Abdel Bary was a vocal supporter of Isis from 2013 to 2015. In that time he posed with a severed head and frequently menaced the west in social media posts. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FbVO6A9Ryr...off-741906.jpg There was speculation at the time that he could be the hooded militant nicknamed Jihadi John, who beheaded a number of western hostages on camera. However, that person was later revealed to be Mohammed Emwazi. Abdel Bary knew Emwazi – and four other men branded by their captors as the Beatles – through west London Islamic circles, but he is not thought to have worked closely with them in Syria. Abdel Bary disappeared for years, leading to speculation that he had been killed as the group’s so-called caliphate crumbled from late 2015. Turkish police, whom British officials had asked to hunt for Abdel Bary, said they lost track of him by late 2015. There were suspicions he had used the then highly active migrant route to smuggle himself to central Europe via Greece. Abdel Bary is thought to have had a Spanish girlfriend whom he met online sometime in 2017. By then he is believed to have resumed an online presence using numerous aliases. During a brief career as a rapper in London he was known as Lyricist Jinn and L Jinny, and he performed with a group called the Black Triangle. After immersing in his faith, he denounced his former life and friends. He left his family and five siblings for the Isis stronghold of Raqqa in July 2013. A Home Office official said there was nothing to add to the Spanish statement. |

ISIS Drugs Haul Worth Billions is Seized After Developing New Jihadi Junkie Pill
Detectives busted a bounty of 84 million 'speed' tablets originally designed to fuel its 'jihadi junkie' fighters in Italy in the biggest amphetamine seizure in the world Daily Mirror UK, 1 JUl. 2020. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S-SYRIA-IS.jpg A record €1billion haul of “highly addictive” Islamic State amphetamines has been seized in Italy. Detectives found 84 million “speed” tablets – worth around £910million – from Syria in paper and machinery parts rolls at the port of Salerno. Detectives from the Italian Guardia di Finanza branch of law enforcement led the Captagon tablets bust in a major blow for the terror network. The force said in a statement the operation was “the biggest seizure of amphetamines in the world”. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S-SYRIA-IS.jpg The drug was smuggled in the form of 84 million tablets (Image: Guardia di Finanza press office) Police are trying to discover if there is a mafia link to the Captagon. The drug emerged in the 1960s as a “psycho-stimulant” to help people with narcolepsy. IS is thought to have developed a new version of the drug to make its’ “jihadi junkie” fighters more aggressive, but realised selling it abroad could earn big money to fund global terror. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S-SYRIA-IS.jpg The captagon tablets were produced in Syria by Islamic State (Image: Guardia di Finanza press office/) Pictures and video of the fourteen-ton cache were released by Italian police. A security source said today: “This is a big blow to Islamic State who are trying to expand their war chest. “It also smashes what might have been a major link in their network internationally. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S-SYRIA-IS.jpg Authorities in Italy seized 14 tons of amphetamines (Image: Guardia di Finanza press office) "Hopefully long-term that it will be more difficult for them to sell their drugs. “They have been developing the ability to mass produce this type of pill for some time, firstly to keep their fighters on the frontline for longer. "This raid is a worry because it shows IS is making inroads with major crime networks.” |

Manchester UK Arena Bomber's Brother Jailed for Record 55 Years and Expected to Die in Prison
Homegrown ISIS-inspired terrorist Hashem Abedi acquired bomb components for his older brother Salman, who killed 22 and injured hundreds when he blew himself up after an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena Daily Mirror UK, 20 AUG 2020. The cowardly brother of the Manchester Arena suicide bomber has been jailed for at least 55 years - the highest minimum life term ever - for murdering 22 and injuring hundreds after an Ariana Grande concert. ISIS supporter Hashem Abedi, 23, again hid in a cell at the Old Bailey and refused to face his victims' families in court as he was sentenced for helping his brother Salman to build the bomb. The homegrown terrorist is expected to die in jail after being handed 24 life sentences following one of the largest murder cases in UK history. He will be in his late 70s when he is eligible for parole, but a judge said the mass murderer may never be freed. There was anger as Judge Mr Justice Jeremy Baker was unable to hand out a whole-life sentence because the terrorist was under the age of 21 at the time of the "atrocious" crimes. There were audible gasps from some families in court as Mr Justice Baker instead jailed the defendant for life on each of the 22 counts of murder, with a minimum of 55 years before parole. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...shem-abedi.jpg Hashem Abedi, 23, was found guilty of murdering the 22 bombing victims (Image: PA) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg The 22 victims of the May 2017 terror attack in Manchester (Image: PA) The 22 people who were killed were: off-duty police officer Elaine McIver, 43, Saffie Roussos, eight, Sorrell Leczkowski, 14, Eilidh MacLeod, 14, Nell Jones, 14, Olivia Campbell-Hardy, 15, Megan Hurley, 15, Georgina Callander, 18, Chloe Rutherford, 17, Liam Curry, 19, Courtney Boyle, 19, Philip Tron, 32, John Atkinson, 28, Martyn Hett, 29, Kelly Brewster, 32, Angelika Klis, 39, Marcin Klis, 42, Michelle Kiss, 45, Alison Howe, 44, Lisa Lees, 43, Wendy Fawell, 50, and Jane Tweddle, 51. The judge, who heard powerful testimony from the families of the victims during the two-day hearing, added: “The defendant should clearly understand the minimum term he should serve is 55 years. He may never be released.” He ordered a copy of his sentencing remarks to be served on Abedi in his cell. In March, the jihadi was found guilty by a jury of 22 counts of murder, attempted murder and plotting to cause an explosion likely to endanger life. Manchester-born Abedi, whose parents came to the UK from Libya, helped source, buy, stockpile and transport components for Salman's bomb from January 2017, using multiple mobile phones, vehicles and addresses to stash the deadly materials. He was in Libya at the time of the attack, but was swiftly arrested. Sentencing Hashem, the judge said the attack was carried out following "careful and considered" planning by the Abedi brothers, and there were a number of severe aggravating factors, including the fact that the brothers knew many of their victims would be "vulnerable" children and teenagers, the Manchester Evening News reported. More than half of the victims were children and teenagers. Abedi, of Fallowfield in south Manchester, was accused of showing "contempt" to the families of those he and his suicide bomber brother killed more than three years earlier by not coming into the dock. Sentencing him on Thursday afternoon, the judge said: "Although Salman Abedi was directly responsible, it was clear the defendant took an integral part in the planning." He added: "The motivation for them was to advance the ideology of Islamism, a matter distinct to and abhorrent to the vast majority for those who follow the Islamic faith. "The defendant and his brother were equally culpable for the deaths and injuries caused. "The stark reality is that these were atrocious crimes, large in their scale, deadly in their intent, and appalling in their consequences. "The despair and desolation of the bereaved families has been palpable." The judge added: “If the defendant, like his brother, had been 21 or over at the time of the offence, the appropriate starting point would have been a whole life order. “Not only because of the combination of the significant degree of pre-meditation but also because the motivation for them was to advance the ideology of Islamism, a matter distinct to and abhorrent to the vast majority for those who follow the Islamic faith.” Abedi has been given almost three years' credit for time served on remand in both Libya and the UK, meaning he will serve just over 52 years before he is eligible for release. He will have to convince the Parole Board he doesn't pose a threat to the public. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg Bomber Salman Abedi is seen in CCTV footage from the night of the terror attack (Image: PA) A woman leaving the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, where families of the victims had been watching a screening of the hearing at the Old Bailey in London, shouted to press as she left: “Two-and-a-half years for each murder he got.” Following the final harrowing victim impact statements read out on Thursday, the judge praised the survivors and the victims, telling the courtroom: “I’m only too well aware that for those who have been intimately affected by the events at the Manchester Arena the re-living of both the circumstances surrounding those events and the death and injuries, are no doubt extraordinary painful to all of those who attended this court building or remote locations. “Before I rise to finally consider my sentencing exercise, I would like to pay tribute to the tremendous dignity and courage of all those who have attended throughout the trial and in this sentencing hearing during this very difficult time.” Abedi's older brother, 22-year-old Salman, detonated his suicide bomb at 10.31pm on May 22, 2017, killing 22 men, women and children aged between eight and 51. The brothers joined their parents in Libya the month before the blast amid concerns the siblings were becoming radicalised, with Hashem remaining in the North African country. What crimes have been reported in your neighbourhood? Check with In Your Area. Salman returned to the UK on May 18. He bought the final components needed for the bomb, rented a flat in the city centre in which to build it, and carried out reconnaissance on the arena before finally executing the plot - the chilling final moments of which were caught on CCTV. Hashem was arrested in Libya hours after the attack and was extradited back to Britain last summer, telling police he wanted to cooperate. During his trial, jurors were shown disturbing CCTV footage of Salman travelling to the foyer of the arena, before detonating his bomb as crowds were leaving the pop concert. Salman's body was later recovered in four parts. Abedi refused to attend court on multiple occasions, having previously sacked his legal team and effectively withdrawing from the trial. The judge had told the victims' families that he was powerless to force Abedi into the dock. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ide-bomber.jpg Hashem is seen holding a gun in a picture posted on Facebook Earlier, survivor Michael Taylor described the impact of the blast on his family as his wife suffered bad shrapnel wounds, facial burns, and he lost the hearing in both ears. In a written statement he told the court: "Emotionally we are not the same people as before the explosion and the fact someone who had no connection to us trying to kill us is very hard to comprehend. "My wife cannot contemplate going to another concert when we used to go to five or six a year. "A problem with the PA system at a wedding caused a loud bang and the nose made my wife jumpy and she became hysterical and we had to leave. "I have a tremendous fear and guilt due to the injuries my wife suffered and that we got out alive when others did not survive. I feel guilty I didn't help more people. "I fear future attacks and emotional trauma has hardened both me and my wife." https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ror6873JPG.jpg A silver Toyota car being driven by Hashem with his brother Salman next to him Keith Walker told the court in a written statement how he also felt "unexplainable guilt" and flashbacks of the horrific bombing. He added: "I cannot fully reconcile feelings that I could have done more and the feeling of helplessness following the explosion. I consider myself lucky to be alive...as I have only lost the hearing in my left ear." Lesley Callander, whose 18-year-old daughter, Georgina died in the blast, asked for a photo of her to be shown to the court by prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward. Grieving families also gave emotional evidence at the Old Bailey on Wednesday as the judge began the process of sentencing Abedi. The court heard powerful statements from some of the victims' family members, who spoke of their devastating loss, their endless grief, and the gaping voids left by the massacre. Survivors also recalled feeling guilty, for escaping the blast with their lives when others did not, and for instantly thinking the worst when they saw people wearing backpacks on public transport. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ror6872JPG.jpg Hashem refused to answer questions when he was quizzed by Greater Manchester Police Harriet Taylor paid tribute to her mother, Jane Tweddle, 51, a school receptionist who lived in Blackpool, and said evil would not triumph. She said in a statement: "We simply will not let evil win. Evil is invisible, it has no face, no heart, no race. "But what we have that evil never will have is love." Michael Thompson, father of victim Michelle Kiss, 45, from Whalley in Lancashire, said: "We believe there is more good in the world than bad but unfortunately it only takes one bad person to devastate and destroy so many lives." The mothers of teenage sweethearts Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19, also told of their devastation. Lisa Rutherford said: "As a family we need answers, we are destroyed." Ms Rutherford, who was supporting herself on crutches as she read her statement, said her "heart snapped" when she received a telephone call with the news that her daughter had died. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg Salman in Manchester Arena moments before he detonated his bomb (Image: PA) Wiping away tears, she said: "We are lost, we are devastated and we feel an overwhelming loss." Ms Rutherford, who was supporting herself on crutches as she read her statement, said her "heart snapped" when she received a telephone call with the news that her daughter had died. Caroline Curry held up a photo of her son and appeared to address some of her comments to the absent Abedi. Addressing an empty dock on Wednesday, Ms Curry said: "You took from me something more precious than gold, a beautiful boy, inside and out. "I want you to look at Liam and remember the beautiful boy that was snatched away. "Your actions have caused this heartbreak. I just feel cheated. You took his future, my future, my family's future. All we have now is heartbreak and dreams of what if." https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg Charred clothing recovered after Salman Abedi set off his bomb on May 22, 2017 (Image: PA) And Samantha Leczkowski, mother of Sorrell Leczkowski, 14, from Leeds, said her daughter's bedroom had been kept "untouched" since she died. "I cannot bring myself to alter Sorrell's room," she said. "Losing one of my children has killed me, I may as well be dead." A public inquiry into the bombing is scheduled to start next month. After Thursday's sentencing, Mark Rutherford, on behalf of the families of his daughter Chloe Rutherford, 17, and her boyfriend Liam Curry, 19, said outside the court: “We would like to thank Mr Justice Barker for imposing the biggest sentence ever in these circumstances.” He thanked the court, the jury, the police and the Crown Prosecution Service, while members of both families clutched photographs of their loved ones. The family of victim Kelly Brewster said: "His sentence will never compare to the sentence we have to live for the rest of our lives without Kelly. One day he will be free but we will forever be broken. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg Materials found in a Nissan Micra that was abandoned by the brothers (Image: PA) "We wish to thank the CPS, Greater Manchester Police and the family liaison officers from both GMP & South Yorkshire Police who have supported us greatly over the last 3.5 years. Our family now welcomes the start of the public inquiry next month." In Manchester, Paul Hett, father of victim Martyn Hett, 29, said: "First of all we have spent two days listening to harrowing details of lives that have been shattered, not just the 22, but hundreds of lives changed forever. "Hashem Abedi did not even be man enough, he was a coward and did not come to court to hear how he had affected those people. "He's now going to spend the rest of his life in jail, I'm sure because after the 55 years he was given, I'm sure the Parole Board which then has to make a decision, will ensure this coward never sees the light of day again." Martyn's mum Figen Murray said: “We, alongside those who lost loved ones in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, have waited for this day to come. "Hashem Abedi has now faced justice for his crimes. He has deeply affected our lives and although we will never have time back with those we lost, we can now put this trial behind us and try to move forwards. "Martyn was kind, vivacious, larger than life and we intend to carry on his legacy, wherever we go. On a personal note, my life completely changed due to the horrific crimes spoken of today and I channel my energy into speaking to young people across the country to spread messages of kindness and tolerance so that those who seek to divide us never win. "As you can imagine, this is overwhelmingly emotional, but we want to thank our legal team and everyone who has supported us. We have a strong justice system here in the UK and it is comforting to know that those who break the law will be punished. "Holding on to anger does not help the healing process, so my focus has been on trying to stop such violent acts from happening again, which is why I campaign for Martyn's Law, to better protect venues from being targeted." https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...a-incident.jpg A Nissan Micra abandoned by the Abedis was found to contain traces of homemade explosive TATP (Image: PA) Victoria Higgins, lawyer for Slater and Gordon and acting on behalf of 12 of those killed in the arena bombing, said: "This is the end of one chapter for those affected by this terrible atrocity. The families have waited a long time to see this man brought to justice and facing a life sentence for his crimes. "The next phase is about to begin for our clients with the start of the long-awaited public inquiry. We are glad to have the criminal process dealt with so we can now look towards getting the answers our clients desperately need and to better understand what happened, why it happened, what went wrong and how can we learn from this tragic event." Boris Johnson said the jailing of Hashem Abedi for his role in the Manchester Arena bombing is "an opportunity to reflect on the importance of tolerance, community and kindness". In a statement, the Prime Minister said: "The Manchester Arena attack was a horrifying and cowardly act of violence which targeted children and families. "Those who were taken from us will never be forgotten, nor will the spirit of the people of Manchester who came together to send a clear message to the entire world that terrorists will never prevail. "My thoughts remain with the survivors, and with the friends and families of victims, who have shown remarkable courage and dignity. "I would also like to express my thanks to the police and all those who have worked tirelessly to deliver justice for the families. "Today's sentencing is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of tolerance, community and kindness - values which are fundamental to our country, and which we saw in Manchester in the face of unimaginable tragedy." Home Secretary Priti Patel tweeted: "The terrorist attack at Manchester Arena inflicted unimaginable loss and suffering to victims and their families. "Thanks to the efforts of our outstanding police and other partners - at home and abroad - justice has been delivered for them today." Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, said: "Today marks the end of a three-year quest for justice, following one of the worst terrorist attacks this country has seen, and one of the darkest days in our city’s history. "Of course, for the families and friends of those twenty two souls whose lives were brutally cut short that night in May 2017, the pain will never fully diminish. "I know that no sentence will ever make amends for their loss, nor the suffering of the more than 1,000 people injured – many seriously or left with deep psychological wounds – who continue to live with the effect of this cowardly attack. "I can only hope it brings some small measure of comfort to them that Abedi will spend the vast majority of the rest of his life behind bars – where he belongs. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...lman-Abedi.jpg Inside the bomber's flat, where he built the bomb using components acquired by Hashem (Image: GMP) "The division and hatred he sought to foster was, amidst the pain, met by strength and unity – by the courage of the victims’ families, the bravery of the survivors and the kindness and generosity of Greater Manchester as a whole. "As we move forward from today I will choose to remember that enduring spirit – of a city galvanised against hatred that will never forget, nor fail to support those who continue to be affected." He described the brothers as "cowardly" and "calculating murderers" who tried to divide society. He added: "He (Hashem Abedi) showed that in his contempt for the court proceedings and by the end just not turning up. "But they failed to do that because actually what that atrocity did do, as painful as it was for those that lost their loved ones and those injured, it brought everybody together. "And it showed, it showed the world that we stood together here in Manchester in our darkest hour. "And the fact that we've had this sentence and him brought to justice shows terrorists around the world, if you commit an atrocity in the UK we will do absolutely everything to make sure you stand trial here and are brought to justice." Mr Hopkins said he and his colleagues would have liked to have seen Abedi receive a whole-life tariff - to remain in prison forever - but the judge was prevented from doing so because of the defendant's age at the time of the blast. He added: "Others, at some stage many decades from now, may have to make a decision as to whether he ever gets released on licence." But asked whether he expected Abedi to spend the rest of his life in prison as a result, Mr Hopkins replied: "I would suspect in all likelihood, yes." Mr Hopkins told the Manchester Evening News the counter-terror investigation, dubbed Operation Manteline, remains "live" with more than 100 investigators still attached, and it won't be shut down any time soon. The Manchester Arena bombing trial was the “largest murder case in English legal history”, Jenny Hopkins, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said. She added: “The prosecution case was that Hashem Abedi effectively worked hand-in-hand with his brother as the bomber planned and carried out his deadly attack on that night in May 2017. “Abedi will spend the next five decades behind bars where he can’t harm others. My thoughts remain with the families of those who died and the hundreds of survivors.” Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham added: "The attack on the Manchester Arena, and the targeting of innocent children and families, was an act of pure evil. "We said at the time that we would do whatever we could to ensure those responsible were brought to justice and it is a relief that it has finally happened. "Today we think first of the families who lost loved-ones and everyone whose lives were changed forever by this appalling crime. "We know today will be yet another difficult day for them and we will continue to support them in any we can, but we hope the fact that someone has at last been held accountable will bring a degree of comfort and resolution. "On behalf of everyone affected by the events of May 22, 2017, I want to thank our own police force – Greater Manchester Police – for the way in which every officer from the Chief Constable downwards responded to this attack, in the outstanding care and support given to bereaved families, and in the highly professional and painstaking investigation which has secured this conviction. "The investigation team, led by ACC Russ Jackson and DCS Simon Barraclough, has done an outstanding job, particularly in overcoming the many complexities thrown up by the extradition process, and we are hugely grateful to them all, as we are to the Government, and in particular to the Defence Secretary for the support he provided. "This attack on our city and everything it represents caused untold misery. "But ultimately it failed. It was meant to divide us but it only brought us closer together. "And now one of those responsible is behind bars. "So today is a day when our city and its people can take another step forward on the road to recovery from May 2017 and mark an important victory in the fight against hate, violence and terrorism.” |

ISIS Beatles Fear Hell on Earth Supermax Prison That's Fate Worse Than Death Penalty - U.S. Penitentiary, Florence ADX
EXCLUSIVE: Alexanda Kotey and El-Shafee el-Sheikh are expected to spend the rest of their lives in “the Alcatraz of the Rockies” if found guilty Daily Mirror UK, 24 AUG 2020. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014...64_964x669.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/originals/09/43...2694341171.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dLScd3b1YV...ermax+Cell.jpg From the outside, America’s toughest jail is a foreboding presence in the foothills of the Rockies. On the inside, it is “hell on earth”, its prisoners locked up alone inside window-less cells for 23 hours a day, driven out of their minds with boredom. And the much-feared supermax jail in Florence, Colorado, the Alcatraz of the Rockies, is where two British jihadis alleged to be in the notorious Beatles ISIS cell could now end up. Alexanda Kotey, 36, and El-Shafee el-Sheikh, 32, face rendition to the States any day after America agreed they would not face the death penalty if convicted. And Kotey revealed in an exclusive interview of his fears of ending up in a US jail, saying that would “be the worst thing that could happen”. A view, he said, that was shared by el-Sheikh. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S217239063.jpg British Islamic State fighters El Shafee el-Sheikh (L) and Alexanda Kotey (R) (Image: Getty) In March, the UK’s Supreme Court deemed it unlawful for Britain to provide evidence to a foreign country that could be used in a death penalty prosecution. Now the threat of execution has been lifted, MI5 can share intelligence that may identify them as part of the Beatles cell, led by Mohammed “Jihadi John” Emwazi and blamed for a string of beheadings. Kotey and el-Sheikh face their worst nightmare if they are convicted in the States. In an exclusive interview, Kotey, from Ladbroke Grove, West London, admitted he and el-Sheikh had pinned their hopes on being sent back to the UK, which has revoked their citizenship, to spend “some time in prison”. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...S185583308.jpg Kotey speaks to Daily Mirror defence editor Chris Hughes (Image: Daily Mirror) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...CD30978991.jpg The super-maximum-security federal prison in Florence, Colorado (Image: Getty) Asked how he felt about being sent to America, he shrank in his seat and shook his head. His voice cracked as he said: “I would not want to spend time in a prison in the US. That would not be good. "That would be the worst thing that could happen.” Kotey was captured by Syrian Democratic forces in 2018, but regards time spent on a CIA “kill or capture” list as part of his time in custody. In our interview in North East Syria last year he said: “I have already served four years, maybe five. I was told I was in a kill or capture list after my name and picture was put out in the media. It has not been easy for me. “Shafee was also asked about it too –he said he would not like to spend time in an American prison. No, that would not be good.” https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...JS76524373.jpg Mohammed Emwazi, aka "Jihadi John" (Image: Reuters) They have good reason to be afraid. They face a show trial to placate US citizens sickened by Islamic State, and if convicted could spend the rest of their lives in the Florence Supermax. Former FBI director of prisons Norman Carlson once said the supermax was built “for a very small subset of the inmate population who show absolutely no concern for human life”. US and British authorities believe the Beatles, nicknamed by hostages because of their UK accents, were responsible for 27 killings, including the beheadings of Americans James Foley, Steven Sotloff and Peter Kassig, and British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning. They also held British journalist John Cantlie, who is missing presumed dead. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...CS30031698.jpg The fortress-like super-prison is notoriously dubbed the "Alcatraz of the Rockies" (Image: Getty) Britain has removed both Kotey and el-Sheikh’s citizenship, and they are both now believed to be in the custody of US special forces in Iraq. A former British military intelligence officer said: “Justice in the States for Kotey and el-Sheikh will not be about rehabilitation, but serious punishment and revenge. "Theirs will be a life of aching drudgery and boredom. The supermax strips away any comfort and distraction. It will be their worst nightmare. “In many ways being locked up for the rest of your life in a featureless and excruciatingly monotonous place is for some people a fate worse than the death penalty. “They will be staring at white walls penning them in, with very few personal belongings, access to the outside world and absolutely no choice about their movements from one minute to the next.” Find out how many cases of coronavirus there have been where you live in the widget above - and get an even more detailed breakdown when you click through to our sister site InYourArea.. The supermax’s windowless brick buildings are guarded by razor-wire fences patrolled by attack dogs, and watchtowers manned by marksmen. There has not been an escape since it was built in the late 1980s, the last of America’s remaining high-security supermax complexes. Prisoners are kept in solitary confinement in 12ft by 7ft cells for 23 hours a day. Bed is a concrete slab with a thin foam mattress on top. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...JS35035321.jpg Preacher Abu Hamza al Misary is among those locked up in the supermax (Image: PA) There is a tiny TV, but viewing is strictly controlled, programmes only available to inmates at certain times. The bland prison food is handed through a steel slot in the door. Every day prisoners get one hour in a “recreation cage” fitted with one pull-up bar. It is big enough to walk 10 steps one way or 31 steps in a circle. Inmates get three showers a week and if they show the slightest sign of misbehaviour their TV set is removed, even though they pay for it. Every month they get one monitored call to a relative for just 15 minutes, but only if they behave. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...CS22125624.jpg Shoe bomber Richard Reid is also jailed there (Image: Neil Atkinson) At least 70% of the inmates suffer from mental health issues and more than 100 of the most violent prisoners are kept in a darkened, ultra-secure part called the “z unit”. The slightest glitch in behaviour can lead to the z unit. Many former Islamic State members have spent time there. Outside, the prison is set against a backdrop of dull, grey desert. But with many serving multiple life sentences for appalling terrorist outrages, the chances of them seeing outside and tasting freedom are virtually zero. Islamic State 'Beatles' in Court Over US/UK Hostages' Deaths
Two ex-British alleged Islamic State (IS) suspects have appeared in a US court charged over the killing of hostages. BBC, 10 OCT 2020 https://c.files.bbci.co.uk/DE58/prod...2965_compo.jpg Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh are accused of belonging to an IS cell dubbed "The Beatles" involved in kidnappings in Iraq and Syria. The pair appeared via video link from prison at a hearing in a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. The men, who had been in US custody in Iraq, previously denied the charges. A detention hearing and arraignment were scheduled for Friday but the lawyer appointed to represent the pair, who grew up in London, said he might ask for a delay to allow time to go over the charges with the defendants. US Assistant Attorney General John Demers told a press conference the charges were "the result of many years of hard work in pursuit of justice" for the four Americans who died - James Foley, Steven Sotloff, Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig. Addressing the families of the victims, he said: "Although we cannot bring back your children, we will do all that we can do: obtain justice for them, for you, and for all Americans." He added: "These men will now be brought before a United States court to face justice for the depraved acts alleged against them in the indictment." The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. https://c.files.bbci.co.uk/4D12/prod...03791_comp.jpg Clockwise from top left: Aid workers Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig, and journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley The pair are alleged to have been members of an IS gang - nicknamed by hostages after the 1960s pop group due to their British accents - which was responsible for the death of hostages in Iraq and Syria in 2014. Some of the victims - who included American journalists and UK and US aid workers - were beheaded and their deaths filmed and broadcast on social media. James Foley's mother, Diane Foley, said the charges were "only a first step" and that she was "praying that justice will be served". She added that she hoped the trial might "implicate others" and lead to further arrests. Kotey and Elsheikh, originally from west London, were previously stripped of their UK nationality. The Charges They Face Are: Conspiracy to commit hostage taking resulting in death Hostage taking resulting in death Conspiracy to murder United States citizens outside of the United States Conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists - hostage taking and murder - resulting in death Conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organisation resulting in death The ISIS group's alleged ringleader, Mohammed Emwazi, known as "Jihadi John" died in a drone strike in 2016. Referring to his death, Mr Demers said he had "faced a different kind of American resolve - the mighty reach of our military, which successfully targeted him in an air strike several years ago". 'Strongest Case possible' The assistant attorney general was asked by reporters whether the death penalty was not being sought solely because the UK government had made it a requirement in return for its co-operation. "The attorney general decided that we should provide the death penalty assurance in order to get the British evidence and see that justice could be done more expeditiously than if we had to continue to litigate this issue in the courts in the United Kingdom," Mr Demers said. "The decision was to try to keep the option (of seeking the death penalty) open at first but ultimately that didn't work." Last month the UK sent evidence to the US following assurances the two men would not face the death penalty. Mr Demers added: "We decided that if we were going to do this case, we were going to tell the fullest story we could of what these defendants did and we were going to put on the strongest case possible. And with the British evidence I think we can do that very well." Ms Foley said she was "hugely grateful" the death penalty was not being sought, as she wanted alleged IS members to have "an opportunity to come to terms with what they've done". FBI director Christopher Wray told the press conference: "We mourn not only our American victims but also the British victims David Haines and Alan Henning, and victims of all nations who suffered unimaginable cruelty at the hands of Isis." https://c.files.bbci.co.uk/1338A/pro...i063631165.jpg British aid worker David Haines was killed in 2014... Mike Haines, whose aid worker brother David was killed by the IS cell in 2014, said he was relieved "the fate of these two men is closer to being decided but this is just the beginning". "The pain we experienced as families was excruciating when we lost our loved ones and the last three years have been a long, horrible waiting game," he said. "It was a big win for us knowing that the US courts would be taking this forward because we have been waiting years since they were first detained." British photojournalist John Cantlie who was kidnapped with Mr Foley > his fate is still unknown. END NB- Ladybbird... I personally do not believe in the US DEATH PENALTY > too many appeals processes & sometimes wrongful convictions.. However these 2 may go mad in the in a 'Hell on Earth' US Supermax Prison that is a Fate Worse Than the Death Penalty.. -Their years of solo confinement & suffering can NEVER match families' pain of the loved ones ISIS KILLED |

British SAS Sniper Kills Five ISIS Terrorists With One Shot From Over Half a Mile Away

During a kill or capture mission against Islamic State in November, the 20-year veteran utilised the Army's most powerful gun. One of those killed turned out to be a top commander and the shooter was given a commemorative baseball cap by his colleagues to celebrate, reports the Daily Star. SAS troops had been working with Kurdish fighters to find an ISIS unit responsible for attacks on villages. The sniper was using a Barrett .50 calibre rifle, the most powerful gun in their armoury. The weapon is mainly used to hit larger targets like aircraft, cars, truck and lightly armoured tanks. Its impact on humans is devastating and a single round can take off a limb. The SAS team had been watching a suspected Isis bomb factory for several days when five men left the building. One of them was filming the suicide bomber who was smiling and chatting to the camera. The SAS soldier radioed his base explaining that the terrorists had emerged and he had a clean shot. A source said: “The plan at that stage was to drop the suicide bomber with the first shot and then the leader if they felt they could identify him. But we got lucky. “The target was at the maximum range. The sniper adjusted for the wind, aimed and gently squeezed the trigger. “He waited for the target to drop but instead the guy exploded. “When the dust settled there were four bodies lying around with various bits missing. “It then occurred to the sniper that the vest had detonated. When you take out a suicide bomber you normally aim for the head. "But this guy was at the extreme limit of the sniper’s shooting ability so he went for the centre of his mass – the chest.” Our source said that when the SAS team returned to base the sniper was presented with a baseball cap with the words “Long Range Death” on it. The source added: “The terrorists are scared to death of snipers. We use silencers on our rifles which seriously deaden the noise. “They can’t see us or hear us and they only know we are around when bodies start hitting the floor.”...:clapper::clapper: https://www.warstore.co.uk/ekmps/sho...4[ekm].jpg |

Airstrikes in Syria Kill 22 in Joe Bidens' First Military Act as President
Strikes against Iran-backed fighters were retaliation for attack on US-led forces in Iraq, says Pentagon BBC News, 27 FEB 2021. Joe Biden has carried out his first military action as president, with airstrikes targeting Iranian-backed fighters in Syria, in what the Pentagon said was retaliation for a rocket attack in Iraq earlier this month that killed one civilian contractor and wounded a US service member and other coalition troops. The overnight strikes killed 22 people after hitting three trucks loaded with munitions near the border town of Abu Kamal, a war monitor said on Friday. Border posts used by Iranian militia groups were also destroyed, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. It said all of the dead were from Iraq’s state-sponsored Hashd al-Shaabi, an umbrella force that includes many small militias with ties to Iran. US military increasingly using drone missile with flying blades in Syria The Pentagon’s chief spokesperson, John Kirby, said the location of the strikes was used by Kataeb Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, two Iraqi pro-Iran groups operating under the Hashd umbrella. “This proportionate military response was conducted together with diplomatic measures, including consultation with coalition partners,” Kirby said. “The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and coalition personnel. At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to de-escalate the overall situation in eastern Syria and Iraq.” The Iranian and Syrian foreign ministers spoke in a telephone call on Friday after the strikes, and underlined “the need of the west to adhere to UN security council resolutions regarding Syria”, a statement on the Iranian government website Dolat.ir said. A little-known Shia group, believed to be a front for more prominent Iran-backed factions hostile to the US, claimed responsibility for the 15 February attack on an airbase in Erbil, in Kurdish Iraq. It was the most deadly attack in almost a year on US-led coalition forces deployed to Iraq to fight Isis, killing a Filipino contractor and wounding nine US coalition and military staff and at least five Iraqi civilians. Tensions between the US and its Iraqi and Kurdish allies on one side, and Iran-aligned militias on the other, soared during the Trump administration, with its stance of “maximum pressure” on the Islamic republic. Tehran has made clear it intends further retribution for the 2020 drone strike that killed the Iranian general Qassem Suleimani and the powerful Iraqi Shia militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, almost causing a proxy war. The Erbil attack was widely interpreted as the first serious test of Biden’s Iranian policy as the president seeks to revive the nuclear deal, scrapped by Donald Trump in 2018, between Tehran and world powers. Another salvo struck a base hosting US forces north of Baghdad days later, injuring at least one contractor, and on Monday rockets hit Baghdad’s Green Zone, which houses the US embassy and other diplomatic missions. Biden’s decision to strike only in Syria and not in Iraq, at least for now, gives Iraq’s government, stuck in the middle of tensions between its two biggest allies, breathing room as it carries out its own investigation into the Erbil attack. Since Iraq declared victory against Isis in late 2017, the coalition has been reduced to fewer than 3,500 troops, 2,500 of them Americans, who no longer take part in combat operations. Most are concentrated at the military complex at Erbil airport. The Biden administration has in its first weeks emphasised its foreign policy priority is the challenges posed by China, even as threats in the Middle East persist. Mary Ellen O’Connell, a professor at Notre Dame Law School, criticised the US attack as a violation of international law. “The United Nations charter makes absolutely clear that the use of military force on the territory of a foreign sovereign state is lawful only in response to an armed attack on the defending state for which the target state is responsible,” she said. “None of those elements is met in the Syria strike.” |

RAFs' Secret Blitz on ISIS Iraq Base in 10-Day Onslaught on Underground Tunnels
EXCLUSIVE: It is believed that dozens of Islamic State *terrorists were wiped out as the UK and American military step-up their mission to wipe out the terror group's ability to resurge in the *war-battered region Daily Mirror UK, 9 APR 2021. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...310-051-58.jpg Typhoons armed with Storm Shadow missiles take part in Operation Shader last month https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...h-in-Mosul.jpg The target in the Makhmur mountains in Iraq (Image: Getty Images) British warplanes have smashed a huge Islamic State underground *tunnel network in northern Iraq in one of the most crucial attacks against the group in months. The 10-day onslaught meant UK Typhoon FGR4 fighter bombers had to unleash deadly Storm Shadow bunker buster bombs on the IS cave hideouts. It is believed that dozens of IS *terrorists were wiped out in the blitz, which also targeted explosives and weapons caches and destroyed a bomb-making hub. The lengthy operation signals a *stepping up in the UK and American military’s determination to try to wipe out IS’s ability to resurge in the *war-battered region. Storm Shadow *air-launched cruise missiles were dropped on the IS positions because they were hiding out in deep underground rocky *formations which cannot be *penetrated by smaller bombs. The RAF operation was launched against the terror group in the Makhmur mountain region of northern Iraq, south west of the Kurdish capital city of Erbil. Until now the operation – which was launched in late March and concluded earlier this month – could not be revealed. The assault followed weeks of ground offensives launched by British-trained Iraqi special forces, which drove the militant fighters into their heavily protected underground complex. Once they had been observed by drones gathering in the complex RAF commanders, along with the American and French military, decided to launch the offensive. The “deep strike” Storm Shadow onslaught was aimed at holding back an IS uprising in the region prompted by ex-US President Donald Trump’s *threatened troop withdrawal. It marks a turning-point in the *coalition’s long-term operations against IS, signalling a fresh determination by the Biden administration to wipe out the terror threat. A UK defence source told the Daily Mirror: “There has been a significant increase in ISIS activity in the region in recent months and this latest operation has set them back a great deal. “Many of the ISIS middle-ranking personnel seemed to be becoming bolder and had begun to move around both in Iraq and Syria, gaining confidence in attacks. “The continued operation shows that we are able severely to limit their ability to manoeuvre and transport weapons and explosives around the region.” https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...F_33242JPG.jpg The coalition strikes are launched by UK warplanes from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus Yesterday British defence officials *reaffirmed their determination to campaign against the threatened IS comeback across Syria and neighbouring Iraq. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: “The British armed forces, alongside our Iraqi and *coalition *partners, continue to root out Daesh terrorists from where they hide. “The UK is committed to defeating Daesh. This operation will prevent the terrorist group and its toxic ideology from regaining a foothold in Iraq and reduce its capability to coordinate attacks around the world.” Ministry of Defence sources revealed Paveway IV bombs were also launched at IS targets, dealing a further blow to the group. It is believed there are still as many as 10,000 hardline and heavily armed IS fighters across Iraq and Syria who are in close contact with thousands more “sleeper cells”. The IS leadership has been able to keep hold of an estimated £350million war chest to help recruit more young fighters and buy weapons to back their death-cult cause. The bounty has been collected over seven years of bank robberies, *extortion, outright theft and the illegal sales of oil stolen from Iraqi and Syrian wells. Coalition forces backed by Western troops completed the military defeat of IS in the region in early 2019, driving them out of Raqqa in Syria and Mosul in Iraq. But the long-term coalition strikes, codenamed Operation Shader, and launched by UK warplanes from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, are being stepped up. The RAF also hit targets in northern Syria, killing a group of IS fighters holed up 50 miles west of al-Hasakah, which is in the Kurdish-controlled statelet of Rojava. In that attack on April 4 an unmanned RAF Reaper drone fired a Hellfire missile at the group, which is believed to have been spotted by Western special forces, killing them. Air Commodore Simon Strasdin, Air Officer Commander of 83 *Expeditionary Air Group and the UK Air Component Commander in the Middle East, said: “The Royal Air Force and wider coalition have supported an operation led by a highly capable unit from the Iraqi *Security Forces. “Together, we’re working towards defeating the remnants of Daesh and ensuring its will is depleted. The commitment and *dedication from the personnel deployed on *operations across the Middle East is simply outstanding. “It is even more impressive that the Royal Air Force can adapt and continue to deliver air power against the enemy during a global pandemic.” Awesome Firepower https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...09-048-045.jpg A Storm Shadow missile is loaded for mission (Image: © UK MoD Crown Copyright 2021) Eurofighter Typhoon fighter bombers can fly at 1,550 mph, cost £110million each and about £70,000 an-hour to fly. It can fire a 27mm Mauser cannon, air -to-air missiles, Paveway IV, Brimstone and Storm Shadow missiles. Brimstones were not used in the latest mission. Storm Shadow is an air-launched, stealth, cruise missile costing £790,000. It flies at a subsonic 800mph and can travel 300 miles, earning its name of a “stand-off” weapon. It is one of the UK’s “bunker-busters” and is aimed at penetrating through rock or concrete, attacking airbases, radar installations and big port facilities. Paveway IV is a laser guided weapon costing £22,000. It is a precision missile that can be re-diverted once fired, in case a civilian walks into the target area or if the target needs to be changed. In one raid a drone fired Hellfire missiles. These cost £120,000 each and are originally anti-armour weapons, developed and used more for targeting high-value personnel. It can travel more than six miles at 995mph. Crackdown on Resurgence of Threat Could be Crucial Chapter - Analysis by Chris Hughes, Mirror defence editor These UK air strikes on IS in Iraq and Syria may mark a significant shift in the story of Islamic State in the region. They show a re-energising in efforts by the coalition to hold back and seriously thwart attempts by the network to rise up again. Ex-US President Donald Trump had emboldened the militancy by announcing troop withdrawals from Syria and neighbouring Iraq. But US President Joe Biden appears to be taking an IS resurgence seriously and backed by UK warplanes the US-led coalition is re-emphasising the drive to stop it. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ld-city-in.jpg Mirror journalist Chris Hughes at the remains of the Nouri mosque in 2017 (Image: Rowan Griffiths) In July 2017 myself and Mirror photographer Rowan Griffiths stood at the “ground zero” ruins of the al-Nuri Mosque as the last dying remnants of IS were being driven from Mosul. It was from here that in 2014 Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had announced his caliphate and here that his men blew up the mosque as they fled. As we stood amid the ruins it was hard to imagine it being rebuilt. But out of the ashes of the caliphate’s destroyed birthplace a £50m Unesco project is having it rebuilt brick by brick from the 5,600 tonnes of rubble that lie where it stood. With help from the Iraqi government and the UAE it will also rebuild two Christian churches nearby. But the latest news about IS in Iraq is even more significant as the network is suffering from a catastrophic blow to its leadership – the US has revealed its leader Muhammed al-Mawla informed on jihadists to elbow his way to the top. Newly released papers in the US show how in 2008 during prison interviews al-Mawla gave up his so-called jihadi brothers to US troops. A treasure trove of intelligence he coughed up, including which cafes they ate in, will have resulted in the deaths by drone of many. But the information he leaked will put him in serious jeopardy with IS. It could mark him as a “dead man walking”. And it could also mark the moment the coalition properly decided to turn the tables on IS. |

Brit Teen Forced to Join ISIS Aged 8 Wants to Return to UK as He Misses McDonalds and Xbox
Chelsea-loving teen who claims to be from London says he misses the capital city and wants to return after his entire family was killed while fighting for ISIS in Syria Daily Mirror UK, 4 JUL 2021. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...est_ISIS_2.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...est_ISIS_1.jpg Abdullah claims to be from London, but was dragged to Syria by his family aged eight (Image: Andrew Drury/ Magnus News) A Chelsea-loving British teen held in a Syrian prison for child ISIS fighters claims the terrorist organisation taught him how to use a gun at just eight years old. Syrian authorities at the hail claim thirteen-year-old Omar*, who lived under the evil ISIS regime in Syria, is a British citizen. Caged alongside other teens who fought for ISIS, Omar says he grew up in London with his family, who were originally from Pakistan, and he loves Chelsea and McDonald's. He told journalist Andrew Drury his family took him to Syria when he was eight years old - but claims his mum, dad, younger sister and two brothers are all dead. As soon as he arrived, the teen says he was given a gun - which he insists he never used despite other ISIS members wanting him to. He said: “The first day I go to school they learn me (sic) how to use the weapons. “And then I tell my mum, I can’t do these kind of things, and then my mum tell me go to second school. And the second school they learn me (sic) like the Quran and this kind of thing." Omar is one of scores of children ISIS recruited into ‘Caliphate Cubs’ to further their twisted ideology - in a model that has been compared to the Hitler Youth. He claims most of the family died in Baghouz, the Syrian city that was all but decimated by airstrikes in the last days of the ISIS Caliphate. But Omar adds his memory has been affected by the bloodshed he's witnessed. “I don’t remember (how old I was when I came here), in Baghouz there was a lot of airstrike, and this kind of thing, and I forgot a lot of things,” he said. The teen even says he can't remember his own birthday. “In London when I was celebrating my birthday, we were eating cake and this kind of thing. But here we can’t do anything," he said. Remembering his mum, he says "of course" he misses her. He said: “She got killed in Baghouz, I never saw her. A lot of people told me she got killed. I have two sisters, one is bigger than me, and one is smaller than me, and I have two brothers." He added his older brother was killed in al-Shaddadi and his younger brother died alongside his mum and sister. Omar added his sister married a man who was an ISIS fighter - who is now also dead. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...est_ISIS_6.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...st_ISIS_13.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...est_ISIS_4.jpg The teen says he wakes up at 6am to exercise, before having breakfast and lunch with his friends (Image: Andrew Drury/ Magnus News) Describing his daily routine, he said he's woken up at 6am to exercise. Then he has breakfast and lunch, before spending the afternoon chatting with his friends behind bars. He estimates he's been living in the prison for 18 months. Before he was jailed, Omar says he lived in Raqqa, where he had a house, internet and a car - but he missed McDonald's food while living there. The teen was interviewed for film 'Danger Zone' - which also features jihadi bride Shamima Begum, who has had her British passport revoked. Andrew Drury, who interviewed the teens, said: “People have seen Shamima and some of them want her to rot, but what do you want for this little boy? Who was only eight years old when he went out there, should he rot too? “The female prison officer told me all the children in there have done and seen some very bad things under the ISIS regime, but like Omar most of them weren’t even 10 years old before they were asked to hold an AK-47.” *Omar's name has been changed |
Re: New Zealand to Allow ISIS Mother to be Repatriated
New Zealand to Allow ISIS-Linked Mother to be Repatriated
A woman suspected of being an Islamic State (IS) member can be repatriated from Turkey, New Zealand says. BBC 30 JUL 2021 Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the decision to allow the 26-year-old and her two young children to return was not "taken lightly". The woman grew up in New Zealand and Australia and held citizenship in both countries until Australia revoked it last year. That led to Ms Ardern accusing Canberra of "abdicating its responsibilities". Ms Arden added that great care would be taken to minimise any risk for New Zealanders. The woman had been caught entering Turkey from Syria with her children. She had left for Syria in 2014 on an Australian passport. Canberra stripped the woman of citizenship last year, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling her "an enemy of our country". Earlier this year, Ms Ardern hit out at that decision, saying the woman should return to Australia - where she had spent most of her childhood and adult life. But on Monday she said New Zealand had no choice but to take in the woman, as it was the only place she could legally reside. "They are not Turkey's responsibility, and with Australia refusing to accept the family, that makes them ours," Ms Ardern said. It is up to the police to choose if the woman should face a criminal investigation upon her return, she added. This is not the first time governments have struggled with decisions on what to do with citizens who have been named as terror suspects. The UK stripped the citizenship of Shamima Begum, a British schoolgirl who joined IS in 2015. |

"Firstly, there was shouting, followed by gunshots - three possibly four to begin with," she said. "This was when the shooter kicked in the door of a house and randomly started shooting. He ran from the house shooting as he ran and proceeded to shoot at a few people in the linear park up from the drive." She said the "shooter proceeded along Royal Navy Avenue still shooting". Another witness, Robert Pinkerton, said he "walked around the corner" and "bumped into a bloke with a shotgun". He said the man was dressed all in black. |
