The Dark Secrets Of Hitler's Upbringing | Hitlers' Secret Sex Life & Fetishes

The Secret Allied Mission To Expose Hitlers' Sexual Fetishes

During the Second World War the Allies used information about the secret sex lives of the Nazis to try and bring down the Third Reich. Sex And The Swastika reveals the existence of a top secret government department whose job was to create and broadcast false German news stories. These radio broadcasts and printed leaflets featured the bizarre and revolting sex practices of top ranking Nazis.

The programme also describes the work of the Americans and in particular the Langer Report which was written by a top psychoanalyst and aimed to get inside the mind of Hitler. It investigated claims that Hitler had perverted relationships with many women and in particular his niece Geli, who died in mysterious circumstances. A eye-opening look at the lurid side of the Secret Service.

Movies re: PUTIN & TRUMP Hail NAZIS: Both Quoted MEIN KAMPF

The Grim Story Of The 1945 NAZIS Death March | Forced March To Freedom

Timeline 5.FEB. 2022.

At the end of the Second World War, ten thousand prisoners of war anticipated liberation courtesy of the advancing Russian Red Army. The Nazis dashed these hopes. They forced the prisoners to march out of Stalag Luft III in the dead of winter toward the centre of a collapsing Third Reich in order to keep the P.O.W.’s as hostages. ‘

Forced March to Freedom’ tells the story of this amazing test of endurance through the eyes of Robert Buckham of West Vancouver, a bomber pilot and artist who produced countless sketches and water-colours of prison camp life, as well as one of the only chronicles of the forced march itself.

For some, it was a march to freedom, for others, a fatal walk into an icy death. The forced march of 10,000 allied airmen at the end of World War Two is one of the most dramatic untold stories of the war. And now, near the end of their own lives, it’s a story that the lucky men who survived the march are finally ready to tell.

‘Forced March to Freedom’ is a visually stunning film, not only featuring these emotional interviews but showcasing Buckham’s art as well as having unique access to the few photos that capture this dramatic event.

The Neo-Nazi Brigade Killing Russian Generals

Inside Azov, the neo-Nazi brigade killing Russian generals and playing a PR game in the Ukraine war

The Telegraph UK 19 MAR 2022

While most of Ukraine’s armed forces have been quietly engaged in the grind of a gruelling tug-of-war with Russia, one battalion has been busy putting out slick videos and images trumpeting its own achievements.

In a photograph released this week, a burly man in dark-blue uniform lies unconscious on the snow-covered ground, his right side caked in blood.

“Azov has eliminated a major general! And by thy sword shalt thou live!” reads the caption.

The unnamed officer was reportedly the fourth Russian general to have been killed in Ukraine. His killers? The extreme right-wing Azov Battalion.

A long-time darling of Kremlin propaganda attempts to smear all Ukrainians as neo-Nazis, the unit has recently been making headlines once again after Moscow claimed that it staged a false flag operation to blow up a theatre full of civilians in the besieged city of Mariupol. The truth was more mundane: yet more Russian shelling.

But Azov has been active in the last month. In particular, its well-oiled PR machine has been producing Ukraine’s arguably best-quality war videos with camera drones perfectly capturing the attacks as they happened in real time. Ukraine’s armed forces have happily used Azov’s videos as visual proof of the country’s counter-attacks on the invading army.

Russian tanks were seen blown up in pieces, spurting plumes of smoke as aerial footage showed the attacks with a video-game-like precision.

Azov rose to prominence at the start of the separatist insurgency in Ukraine in 2014. It never held much sway in Ukraine’s politics but videos of its occasional torch-lit marches have helped to feed the false Kremlin narrative of Ukrainians being neo-Nazis.

Ukraine’s crumbling armed forces were taken by surprise in spring 2014 when Russian-backed separatists began to take over swaths of Ukraine’s industrial heartland in the east.

As Ukraine’s regular troops were woefully unprepared to wage a war, citizens of all stripes took up arms and travelled to the east.

Azov Battalion was one of the several volunteer forces that took the job of fighting the separatists that the army seemingly did not want to do.

Months later, prominent rights advocacies such as Human Rights Watch reported “credible allegations of torture and other egregious abuses” by Azov and other volunteer batallions.

Several members of other volunteer battalions have been tried and convicted of rights abuse during their time in the east but no one from Azov was reportedly convicted.

Azov was founded by Andriy Biletsky, an ultra-nationalist political figure who had had run-ins with the law and had been involved in various groups that toyed with Nazi symbols.

The batallion that attracted football ultras and far-right activists made no secret of its roots by adopting the Nazi Wolfsangel as its emblem, saying that it views it as a stylised version of the letters N and I standing for “national idea.”

The 44-year old activist won a seat in parliament as an independent candidate in the autumn of 2014, clearly capitalising on his battalion’s success in fighting the separatists, but he was not re-elected five years later.

Azov, which takes its name from the Azov Sea, first joined the fight against separatists around the city of Mariupol and has been based there since then.

The battalion has enjoyed patronage of Ukraine’s controversial minister Arsen Avakov and several Ukrainian oligarchs, some of them of Jewish descent, who appear to have put aside their qualms about the group’s ideology for the sake of securing Ukrainian sovereignty in south-eastern Ukraine.

Mr Biletsky, also known as the White Leader, has run a fully fledged social media operation since the start of the conflict in 2014, flooding the internet with images of his troops marching the streets with lit torches.

A native Russian speaker born in the predominantly Russian-speaking city of Kharkiv, Mr Biletsky refused to identify himself as a neo-Nazi instead preferring to call himself a Ukrainian nationalist – but some of his public statements speak for themselves.

In his arguably most quoted interview he spoke about Ukraine’s “historic mission in this century to lead white peoples of the world on their last Crusade against Jew-led Untermensch”.

In recent years Azov has produced perfect content for Russian state television, putting a face to the Kremlin’s claims about the rise of the far-right in Ukraine, where recent presidents and prime ministers have all been regular centrist politicians.

Azov fighters in the east happily rolled back their sleeves to show Nazi tattoos to foreign correspondents while Mr Biletsky’s team were announcing the creation of local militia forces to deal with issues in big cities.

In 2018, the battalion put out a slickly produced video showing hundreds of young men in fatigues marching in formation to a torch-lit fortress in Kyiv.

They swore an oath on camera to “clean” the streets of illegal alcohol, drug dealings and gambling establishments.

Nothing came out of the idea but the image was there, putting Volodymyr Zelensky, a Russian-speaking comedian with Jewish heritage, and his predecessor in a tight spot.

“The far-right in general, and their apparent impunity have significantly damaged Ukraine’s international reputation and left the country vulnerable to hostile narratives exaggerating the role of extremist groups in Ukraine,” Oleskiy Kuzmenko wrote in a piece for the Atlantic Council, adding that its recent ties with white supremacists in the West reinforced the concern.

Bellingcat, an investigative journalist group, as well as Ukrainian media over the years, traced ties between Azov, its political arm National Corps, and American white supremacist groups.

A 2019 report by the New York-based Soufan Centre said more than 17,000 people from 50 countries had travelled to Ukraine since the start of the conflict to join Azov and other battalions to fight pro-Kremlin separatists.

In 2016, Azov sought to distance itself from the National Corps after its first commander left the battalion to pursue politics.

Mr Biletsky, however, still attends Azov events and occasionally uses the Azov troops to put pressure on Ukrainian authorities to ditch the idea of any form of compromise with Russia.

Just a few months after the invasion, Azov veterans marched across central Kyiv to President Zelensky’s office. They were stopped by a police cordon nearby where they set on fire effigies of “traitors”.

The National Corps never ran for national elections but its candidates have shown dismal performance at local elections in a clear sign of just how far Azov’s ideology is from concerns of ordinary Ukrainians who have for years viewed them as a marginal, selfie-happy group.

Oh Crap! Re: Edward VIII Helped NAZIS Invade France-Revealed Defence Weak Spots

Edward VIII Helped Nazis Invade France by Revealing Defence Weak Spots to Known Collaborator

Edward VIII told Nazis to keep bombing England and passed information to Germany during WWII, new documentary claims

Claims are revealed in Channel 4 documentary Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King
Edward is said to have encouraged the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission
He then wanted to be re-installed as King of a puppet state in Britain
New documentary, which airs on Sunday, is based on book by Andrew Lownie

Daily Mail UK.25 MAR 2022

Edward VIII encouraged the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission in World War Two and crown him as King.

The former king, who abdicated in 1936 to marry the divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson, also passed information to Germany that aided the fall of France in 1940, according to a new documentary.

The programme, Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King, will air on Channel 4 on March 27 and is based on the work of historian Andrew Lownie.

It uses evidence such as captured German documents that are held in the Royal Archives to support the claims.

The damning allegations come after years of academic research into how close to the Nazis the Duke of Windsor was and the effect of his friendships on the war.

The documentary details how the Duke gave information on weaknesses in the French military to a Nazi informant, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The former King was living in Paris and had written four reports on the French First Army describing its poor leadership and morale.

The reports were ignored by British officials but captured German diplomatic cables showed that Edward then gave the information to his close friend, Nazi informant Charles Bedaux.

The subsequent German invasion of France targeted the weaknesses Edward had identified.

During the invasion, Edward and Mrs Simpson fled to Lisbon, Portugal where they socialised with German agents and sympathisers.

In another captured diplomatic cable from the German ambassador to Portuguese authorities, the Duke is said to have told representatives of Francoist Spain that 'continued severe bombing would make England ready for peace'.

Then-Prime Minister Winston Churchill removed the Duke from Europe, making him the Governor of the Bahamas.

While travelling there, Edward sent a coded telegram to a Nazi associate saying he was willing to return to Europe.

Dr Lownie argues that this indicates Edward was aware of Operation Willie, the German plan to put the Duke back on the throne as the head of a puppet state.

In 1937, Edward and Wallis, met Hitler and his officials during a tour of Germany. Whilst there, Edward was infamously photographed giving a Nazi salute (above)

The allegations are also detailed in Dr Lownie's upcoming book Traitor King, which will be published in May.

The documents used by Dr Lownie as evidence have been in the Royal Archives for decades but a recent policy change allowed greater access for researchers with new documents emerging.

In 1937, Edward and Wallis, met Hitler and his officials during a tour of Germany.

Whilst there, Edward was infamously photographed giving a Nazi salute and later also toured industrial facilities and even a concentration camp, whose guard towers were said to have been explained to him as meat stores.

The former king was reported to have said as late as 1941 that Hitler was the 'right and logical leader of the German people'.

The World Remembers the Heroes Who Saved us From Hitler:
-US and Europe Mark the 70th Anniversary of VE Day

  • Sombre ceremonies held across Europe today to mark the anniversary as officials remembered fallen soldiers
  • World leaders took opportunity to warn of modern day threats such as Islamic extremism and the war in Ukraine
Daily Mail UK, 8 May 2015

Sombre ceremonies have been held across Europe today to mark the anniversary of VE Day.

World leaders came together to mark 70 years since victory over Nazi Germany, laying beautiful wreaths in memory of those who were lost - believed to be up to 60million people.

Over the next three days officials will continue to honour and thank entire wartime generations with a spectacular series of events.

It comes as French President Francois Hollande took the opportunity to warn of modern day threats such as the war in Ukraine and Islamic extremism.

In France, Mr Hollande urged citizens not to grow complacent about war as he laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at a solemn ceremony under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

He said: 'We didn't experience the war, we see it as a far-off reality, sometimes abstract, even though it is not so far from us, in Ukraine, further still in the Middle East.'

He also referred to the hundreds of French citizens who have gone to fight alongside jihadists in Syria and Iraq.

'There is also terrorism which can strike us, racism, anti-Semitism. There are still causes which should spur us on', he said.

Jean Ruiz, witnessing the ceremony on the Champs Elysees avenue, said: 'I think in the wake of what happened in January we must come together, find common ground.'
'There are memories which must not be forgotten,' his wife Mireille added.

Dozens of wreaths made of red, blue and white flowers - to match the French flag - were laid with ribbons by officials earlier this morning

US President Barack Obama also marked the anniversary, expressing solidarity with Europe and hailing the victorious Allied troops as a 'generation that literally saved the world'.

'For over five years, brutal fighting laid waste to an entire continent. Mothers, fathers, children were murdered in concentration camps. By the time the guns fell silent in Europe, some 40 million people on the continent had lost their lives,' Obama said in a radio address.

In Washington DC, 56 restored American 'warbirds' that helped the Allies achieve victory in the war, will roar over the city later Friday as up to 10,000 people look on.
Mr Kerry, whose mother was born in France, also laid a wreath under the Arc de Triomphe as the anniversary coincided with a visit to Paris.
Kerry expressed his country's support to Europe in the face of the new threats it is facing, commending its 'leadership in the fight' against the Islamic State.
'Together we stand firm with the people of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression,' he said.

Other countries in Europe also joined the commemorations. Poland opened Victory Day celebrations with a midnight ceremony in northern Westerplatte, where the first shots of the war were fired on September 1, 1939 as Nazi forces swept across the border.

Russia and former Soviet states will mark the anniversary tomorrow due to a time difference during which the surrender became effective.

The war in the Pacific would end on September 2 when Japan surrendered to the United States after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ukraine, locked in a brutal conflict with pro-Moscow rebels, will for the first time break with Russia and mark May 8 as a 'Day of Memory and Reconciliation'.

Kiev has chosen a new symbol for the event - a poppy - and changed the way it refers to the conflict from the 'Great Patriotic War' introduced by Soviet authorities to the Second World War.

Germany marked its 'liberation' from the Nazis in a joint session of parliament where speaker Norbert Lammert hailed the willingness of the country's neighbours to forgive.

'Today we remember the millions of victims of an unprecedented annihilation campaign against other nations and peoples, against Slavs, against the Jews of Europe,' he said.

German newspaper Die Welt hailed the changes in the country: 'In a few decades a free society has been established. Children and grandchildren endeavour to understand this dark past.'

Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday laid a wreath at the site of the Battle of Stalingrad in Russia as part of commemorations to mark the defeat of Nazi forces in WWII.

We Shall Remember Them: 70 Years After VE Day Marked The End of World War Two,
-Veterans Lead Silent Tribute to Their Fallen Comrades

  • Today marks the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day when Germany surrendered to the Allies
  • Service of remembrance at Cenotaph in Whitehall starts three days of commemorations the historic victory
  • More than 100 veterans joined the Duke of York, politicians and military leaders to lay wreaths during service
  • Two minute silence marked moment Winston Churchill broadcast the news of the German surrender to nation

Veterans led the nation in a silent tribute remembering the sacrifices made to win the Second World War on the 70th anniversary of VE Day.

Seven decades after the country broke out in jubilant celebration at the end of the Second World War, more than 100 former servicemen and women watched as the Duke of York, representing the Queen, joined politicians and military leaders to lay wreaths in Whitehall.

The tribute at the Cenotaph started three days of festivities to mark the anniversary of the announcement that Germany had offered the unconditional surrender to the Allies bringing about the end of the war in Europe.

Artillery guns were fired from the Tower of London and Wellington Barracks Parade Square starting a national two-minute silence at 3pm, to mark the moment Prime Minister Winston Churchill broadcast the news of the German surrender to the nation.

Remembering the sacrifice: Chelsea pensioners were joined by hundreds of veterans at the Cenotaph in Whitehall for the moving tribute

David Cameron laid a wreath at the foot of the Cenotaph with Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg in their last major roles as party leaders following their post-election resignations.
SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon also laid a wreath, and defence secretary Philip Hammond and newly elected MP Boris Johnson also attended.

Among the veterans, who sat huddled with their families under umbrellas as rain pattered gently down, were six Chelsea Pensioners, their bright red overcoats providing a splash of colour under the grey sky.
An excerpt from Churchill's famous speech was also be read by his great-grandson, Randolph Churchill.

The service, which included readings, hymns and a blessing, was led by the Bishop to the Armed Forces the Right Reverend Nigel Stock, and featured music from the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

The Trumpeters of the Royal Air Force sounded The Rouse before the national anthem ended the service.

As the veterans and standard bearers from the Royal British Legion left to make their way up Whitehall for a reception at the Foreign Office, the flag-waving crowds - six deep in some places - broke out into a chorus of three cheers and applause, thanking them for their service so many years ago.

This evening, a chain of up to 250 beacons will be lit across the UK as 'flames of peace', the chain of light stretching from the Tower of London to Blackpool Tower and the community of Unst, the most northerly populated island in the British Isles, as well as to Britain's Overseas Territories
Seventy years after she sneaked out of Buckingham Palace to dance through London's Ritz Hotel with people celebrating the end of the war, the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will light the first beacon at the top of the Long Walk at Windsor Castle at 9.30pm, before others are lit across the land minutes later.

The celebrations will continue over the weekend, starting with a 'thunderclap' of noise at 11am tomorrow, when church and cathedral bells throughout the country ring out in celebration.
The coastguard and the Port of London Authority are also being asked to make their own noise to replicate the thunderous sounds of celebration 70 years ago.

THIS IS YOUR VICTORY: WINSTON CHURCHILL'S RADIO BROADCAST ANNOUNCING THE SURRENDER OF GERMANY

'Yesterday morning at 2.41am at General Eisenhower's headquarters, General Jodl, the representative of the German High Command, and Grand Admiral Doenitz, the designated head of the German State, signed the act of unconditional surrender of all German land, sea, and air forces in Europe to the Allied Expeditionary Force, and simultaneously to the Soviet High Command.

'General Bedell Smith, Chief of Staff of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General Francois Sevez signed the document on behalf of the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General Susloparov signed on behalf of the Russian High Command.

'Today this agreement will be ratified and confirmed at Berlin, where Air Chief Marshal Tedder, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General de Lattre de Tassigny will sign on behalf of General Eisenhower. Marshal Zhukov will sign on behalf of the Soviet High Command.

The German representatives will be Field Marshal Keitel, Chief of the High Command, and the commanders-in-chief of the German army, navy, and air forces.

'Hostilities will end officially at one minute after midnight tonight (Tuesday, May 8), but in the interests of saving lives the 'ceasefire' began yesterday to be sounded all along the front, and our dear Channel Islands are also to be freed today.

'The Germans are still in places resisting the Russian troops, but should they continue to do so after midnight they will, of course, deprive themselves of the protection of the laws of war, and will be attacked from all quarters by the Allied troops. It is not surprising that on such long fronts and in the existing disorder of the enemy the orders of the German High Command should not in every case be obeyed immediately.

'This does not, in our opinion, with the best military advice at our disposal, constitute any reason for withholding from the nation the facts communicated to us by General Eisenhower of the unconditional surrender already signed at Rheims, nor should it prevent us from celebrating today and tomorrow (Wednesday) as Victory in Europe days.

'Today, perhaps, we shall think mostly of ourselves. Tomorrow we shall pay a particular tribute to our Russian comrades, whose prowess in the field has been one of the grand contributions to the general victory.

'The German war is therefore at an end. After years of intense preparation, Germany hurled herself on Poland at the beginning of September, 1939; and, in pursuance of our guarantee to Poland and in agreement with the French Republic, Great Britain, the British Empire and Commonwealth of Nations, declared war upon this foul aggression.

'After gallant France had been struck down we, from this island and from our united empire, maintained the struggle single-handed for a whole year until we were joined by the military might of Soviet Russia, and later by the resources of the United States of America.

'Finally almost the whole world was combined against the evil-doers, who are now prostrate before us. Our gratitude to our splendid Allies goes forth from all our hearts in this island and throughout the British Empire.

'We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing; but let us not forget for a moment the toil and efforts that lie ahead. Japan, with all her treachery and greed, remains unsubdued. The injury she has inflicted on Great Britain, the United States, and other countries, and her detestable cruelties, call for justice and retribution.

'We must now devote all our strength and resources to the completion of our task, both at home and abroad. Advance, Britannia! Long live the cause of freedom! God save the King!'

In the evening, DJ Chris Evans will host a Royal British Legion concert at Horse Guards Parade in London.
Broadcast on BBC 1 and Radio 2, the 1940s-themed 'Party to Remember' will see performances from stars including Alfie Boe, Pixie Lott, Staus Quo, Katherine Jenkins and Dad's Army star Ian Lavender.

On Sunday, around 1,000 veterans and their families will join members of the Royal Family, politicians, members of the Armed Forces and representatives of the Allied nations and Commonwealth countries that fought alongside Britain for a service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

A parade of bands, veterans and current servicemen and women will then make their way from the abbey along Whitehall - past the balcony where Churchill made a historic speech before vast crowds - before a reception for veterans in St James's Park hosted by the Legion, where there will also be vehicles from the 1940s.
The public can watch the ceremony at the abbey from Horse Guard Parade, where they will also be able to see the veterans parade and the changing of The Queen's Life Guard by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

During the ceremony an excerpt from Churchill's famous speech was also be read by his great-grandson, Randolph Churchill

BELL RINGER WHO SOUNDED THE END OF WWII IN EUROPE WILL DO IT AGAIN - FOR VE DAY ANNIVERSARY

Mavis Whitehead, now 81, will sound the bells to mark VE Day tomorrow

A bell ringer who sounded the news of the end of the Second World War in Europe when she was 11 has been asked to do it again - to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day.

Mavis Whitehead, 81, was encouraged to ring the bells of Leicester Cathedral to mark victory in Europe by her father 70 years ago.
Ms Whitehead, who has been a bell ringer for more than seven decades, will be ringing in the anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day tomorrow.

Ms Whitehead, of Old Portsmouth, Hants, will be joining fellow members of the Portsmouth Cathedral band to ring Portsmouth Cathedral's bells, which will be rung simultaneously with other towers across Hampshire tomorrow.

She said: "I don't remember much about VE Day but I'm really happy to be here 70 years on to do it again.
"I really enjoy bell-ringing. The people are what make it so enjoyable and everyone is so friendly.
"My father got me into it and in those days you always did what your father told you. I didn't want to at the time but once I got a feel for the bells I loved it."

Mr Whitehead also rang for the royal wedding of Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in November 1947.

Members of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association take part in a remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the Regimental Stone in Gheluvelt Park, Worcester, on the 70th anniversary of VE Day

In the afternoon, there will be a fly-past over central London by the Red Arrows, following a fly-by of aircraft that helped Britain and her Allies win the war - the Lancaster bomber and Spitfire and Hurricane fighters.

Trafalgar Square will also be decked out with bunting and the ensigns of each of the Armed Forces on Sunday, and the Band of the Grenadier Guards will perform music from the era opposite Nelson's Column.

Throughout the weekend, the square will host an exhibition of historic photos taken on VE Day, including pictures of ecstatic crowds at Piccadilly Circus and servicemen and their girlfriends in Trafalgar Square's fountains.
The images will also be displayed at City Hall until June 5.

Announcing the celebrations earlier this year, First Secretary of State William Hague said they would pay 'fitting tribute' to those who did so much to defend the country and ensure victory in Europe.
Across the US and Europe ceremonies were also held to remember the anniversary and the 60 million people who were killed.

VICTORY IN EUROPE: HOW EVENTS UNFOLDED SEVENTY YEARS AGO ON MAY 8, 1945

Winston Churchill waves to the crowds in Whitehall after making his famous broadcast announcing the unconditional surrender of the German's to the Allies.

German General Jodl signed the unconditional surrender document in Reims, France, at 2.41am on May 7, 1945, which formally ended the Second World War in Europe.
He signed the document on the orders of Admiral Karl Donitz, who had only assumed the leadership of the Third Reich a week earlier after Adolf Hitler killed himself on April 30.

Winston Churchill was made aware that the agreement had been signed at 7am and excitement started to grow.
Just before 8pm that evening, the Ministry of Information announced that May 8 would be 'treated as Victory in Europe Day and will be regarded as a holiday.'

Crowds of celebrating Britains danced through the night after taking to the streets to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe

Revellers waving flags and wearing rosettes took to the streets of London, safe in the knowledge that the bombs had ceased falling

Across Britain thousands of street parties took place to celebrate the victory over the Nazis, ending almost six years of war

Following the news crowds started to gather in central London and street parties were hastily organised for the following day.
At midnight scores of ships in Southampton Docks sounded their horns, and a searchlight flashed 'V for Victory' in Morse code.

On May 8, Winston Churchill travelled to Buckingham Palace where he met with King George VI and the royal family.
At 3pm, he made his famous radio announcement officially announcing the end of hostilities in Europe.

He said: 'We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing. Today is Victory in Europe Day.'

At the same time President Truman addressed the American people from the White House.

He said: 'We must work to bind up the wounds of a suffering world, to build an abiding peace.'
Then he warns, 'Our blows will not cease until the Japanese military and naval forces lay down their arms in unconditional surrender.'

A crowd of around 20,000 had packed outside Buckingham Palace to see the Royal family take to the balcony.
Speaking to the nation from Buckingham Palace the King George VI said: 'Much hard work awaits us in the restoration of our country after the ravages of war . . .'

Even though the World War II was officially declared over in Europe, in the Far East it continued.

The BRUTAL Execution Of Hitlers' Nephew -Heinz Hitler

16 May 2022 TheUntoldPast

As World War Two exploded on the Eastern Front as Hitler and his Wehrmacht invaded the Soviet Union, some of the fighting was the most ferocious and deadly of the whole of the Second World War. During battles such as Stalingrad, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were killed on both sides, but there was one young soldier who was fighting during The Battle of Moscow.

But this young soldier had a very close link to the Dictator of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler. Heinz Hitler was the favourite nephew of Hitler, and he was considered by the Dictator as the ideal aryan. He was educated at a ardent Nazi school which was very exclusive and prepared him for being a future Nazi leader.

But Heinz Hitler joined the Wehrmacht, and he was determined to fight in the Second World War for his uncle's cause. He wished to please his uncle Adolf, and he saw service on the Eastern Front in 1941. However during a mission, he was captured by the Soviet Red Army and his identity was confirmed, and the Soviet's believed the capture of Hitler's nephew was a huge coup for them.

Hitler was outraged and greatly upset by his nephew's capture, and even offered a prisoner swap for Heinz' safe return. He offered Joseph Stalin a swap, Heinz Hitler for Yakov Dzhugashvili, Stalin's own son who had been captured. But Stalin rejected this as he was outraged by his own son's surrender to his enemy.

Heinz Hitler was imprisoned inside of the Butyrka Prison in Moscow, and was considered a VIP prisoner. However he was a man who had intricate knowledge of the Nazi dictator, and was tortured for information a lot over the cause of a month. He was tortured brutally, and was even tortured to death because of how he was treated by the Soviet interrogators.

With this, it was inside of the terrible Moscow prison, that Heinz Hitler was killed in 1942. It's believed that Adolf Hitler was greatly upset by the death of his nephew.

The COMPELLING Execution Of Geli Raubal - Hitler's Niece

During the Second World War and inside of Nazi Germany, there were a huge number of executions carried out by the Wehrmacht under Hitler's command.

22 May 2022 UntoldPast

His reign over Germany was very brutal, but much about the Dictator is unknown or remains mysterious today.

This includes a relationship he had with his niece before he came into power. Geli Raubal was Adolf Hitler's half niece, but at the age of 23 inside of Hitler's apartment in Munich she would be found dead with Hitler's pistol being the weapon used to take her life.

Geli Raubal had an intimate relationship with Hitler, and Hitler was besotted with her however he was incredibly controlling over his niece and he would not let her see any of her friends.

She was kept practically under house arrest, and she was scared of her uncle. However she did have an affair with Hitler driver which caused him great anger. But Geli Raubal dreamed of heading to Vienna to continue singing lessons, but some believed she was running away from Hitler's clutches to marry another man.

However Hitler refused to allow her to leave, but in 1931 inside of Hitler's apartment in Munich a gunshot was heard. Hours later Geli Raubal was found with a gunshot, and the media went into overdrive as it was claimed a huge argument was heard shortly before between Raubal and Hitler. Accusations were fired accusing Hitler of murdering or arranging the murder/execution of his niece.

Senior Nazi figures believed that she knew too much and was dangerous, and it was even claimed that they had her killed. But much of Geli Raubal's demise and death today is considered a mystery.

The DISGUSTING Crimes Of Herta Oberheuser - The Evil Doctor Of Ravensbruck

7 Jun 2022 TheUntoldPast

During the Second World War, there were huge networks of concentration camps where evil guards worked and inflicted horrific acts of brutality. After the war, a number of war crimes trials took place that sentenced former guards, doctors and other members of staff to death with them being executed for crimes against humanity.

But there were many other former members of staff that were sentenced to time in prison and also never faced trial. Herta Oberheuser was a former doctor who worked at Ravensbruck Concentration Camp and she was known particularly for her brutality and savagery.

Herta Oberheuser inside of Ravensbruck worked with Heinrich Himmler's doctor Karl Gebhardt and they would carry out horrendous experiments. Many of their experiments resulted in prisoners having their legs broken forcibly and then also having their wounds infected with glass and wood. Oberheuser was part of this, and she did not give any care to the prisoners and even would give them vinegar to drink when they asked for water.

She also refused to administer pain relief, and her actions resulted in great suffering and pain and even death and execution. After the Second World War, she would be placed on trial at the Nuremberg Doctors Trial, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. However she only served 7 and even tried to practice medicine again after the war!

The HORRIFIC Torture Of The Prisoners Of Buchenwald

Throughout the Second World War, there were many concentration camps used by the Third Reich to inflict suffering onto prisoners.

12 Aug 2022 TheUntoldPast

The day Buchenwald was liberated

One of the largest camps was Buchenwald, and it's estimated that over 55,000 prisoners were killed there and never made it out of the barbed wire fences.

It housed around 280,000 prisoners throughout it's time in operation from 1937 to 1945. But inside the camp, there were many guards who were notorious for their brutal punishment of prisoners and executions were carried out on a daily basis.

There was a special execution block at Buchenwald where 8000 Soviet prisoners were killed inside of, and the conditions at the camp were truly awful. Prisoners were expected to work until they died, and if they did not work hard enough they were punished, tortured or killed.

There was not enough food to go around, and many prisoners suffered from starvation and also diseases such as typhus which ran rampant at Buchenwald.

The camp was liberated by the Americans, and in the post war trials a number of former guards were sentenced to death for their war crimes.

Also the commandant Karl-Otto Koch was executed at the camp, and his wife Ilse Koch became known as 'The Witch of Buchenwald.'

MI5 Bungle During Covid Revealed Churchill Was IN on 'Valkyrie' Plot to Kill Hitler

Spooks dumped piles of top secret wartime files on the internet during pandemic lockdowns covering the attempt by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg to blow up the dictator

BBC 6 DEC 2022

An MI5 bungle during Covid sensationally revealed that Winston Churchill was in on the Valkyrie plot to kill Hitler.

The spooks dumped piles of top secret wartime files on the internet during pandemic lockdowns covering the attempt by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg to blow up the dictator.

But Security Service weeders charged with sifting out sensitive documents belonging to sister spy agency MI6 missed the ones which contained the 78 year old bombshell secret.

Now MI6 chief Richard Moore - known as C - is being pressed to come clean over the Secret Intelligence Service’s part in the 20 July 1944 attempt on Hitler’s life so historians can put the record straight.

The UK has always denied being involved in the plot which featured in the 2008 Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie insisting it was solely the work of disaffected German officers.

But one of the plotters managed to get away. He was the 45 year old Lufthansa lawyer Otto John who squirrelled his way out of Berlin on the flight deck of one of his airliners bound for Madrid four days after the explosion.

Lufthansa lawyer Dr. Otto John

He made his way to Portugal and was exfiltrated from capital Lisbon by MI6 and whisked to Britain.

What the files accidentally reveal is that he had been recruited as an agent by MI6 two years before the attempt on Hitler’s life under the codename Whisky. And met his handlers 12 times in the lead up to the blast.

Britain’s top espionage expert, the former Tory MP Rupert Allason who writes under the name Nigel West, said: “This is of enormous historical importance.

“It means John was a British SIS agent and no mere plotter. It also means emphatically that Churchill knew about the plot and gave it his approval.”

Churchill was briefed daily during the war by No 10’s SIS liaison Major - later Sir - Desmond Morton.

Wilhelm Keitel, Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler and Martin Bormann

Mr Allason said: “It is inconceivable that something of this magnitude was not discussed at those meetings. And to go ahead it would have needed the the PM’s political sanction.

“History must now be rewritten. That is why I have approached C to ask him to release other files to put all this into context.

“Richard Moore says he wants more openness and transparency in his service and this would be the perfect way to prove he means it.”

Stauffenberg planted a suitcase bomb in Hitler’s Wolf’s Lair HQ in east Prussia. The deadly plan went wrong when the case was moved behind a thick table leg which shielded Hitler from the blast.

The explosion killed four people but the Nazi dictator escaped with just a perforated eardrum and his trousers burned and shredded.

Witnesses said Hitler was more concerned about his ruined trews than the officers who had died.

Inspection of the destroyed barracks in the "Wolfsschanze" headquarters

Had von Stauffenberg’s assassination plot succeeded he planned a miliary coup to take over Germany, restore the monarchy, and end the war by making peace with the Allies.

British-made explosives and triggers were used but at the time they were believed to have come from a cache dropped to Special Operations Executive saboteurs and captured by the Germans.

John’s role as the intermediary between the plotters and British spymasters was contained in declassified MI5 files which had lain unread in the National Archives since 2007.

The foreign spy agency MI6 does not release its secret files to National Archives so the identities of agents is protected even after they are dead. John does not even appear in the SIS official history.

When Covid struck the Public Records Office in Kew, west London which holds the archives pulled down the shutters and put files which previously cost £3.50 each to download on the internet for free.

Mr Allason said: “The cost of downloading thousands of files is prohibitive but being able to do so without paying was a boon to researchers.

“I had nothing to do during Covid so I began going through them. That’s when I made this extraordinary discovery.

“The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end when I found this because it was so momentous.”

The revelation is now detailed in the new book Hitler’s Trojan Horse by Nigel West.

He added: “At the time SIS did not use letterheads for their correspondence so their documents were released with the MI5 files when they shouldn’t have been.

“You have to know what you are looking for to spot them. And that’s why the weeders missed them.”

One document confirms that John was “an SIS agent for two years and whom the Germans are hotly pursuing on the footing that he was party to the attempt on Hitler’s life.”

It was written by senior MI5 officer Herbert Hart who was in charge of the Ultra decrypts masterminded by computer wizard Alan Turing at Bletchley Park’s secret listening post.

It took months of preparation to get the bomb inside the conference room where Hitler was meeting with aides. Once placed Stauffenberg made an excuse to leave the room.
But after the failed attempt Stauffenberg and other conspirators were quickly rounded up and shot in the courtyard of the Bendlerblock, the army HQ in Berlin. Others were hanged with piano wire in the Gestapo’s Ploetzensee prison.

Cruise wears an eye patch to play von Stauffenberg in the Valkyrie movie. In 1941 the colonel lost his left eye, right hand, and two fingers on his left hand while fighting for the Afrika Korps in Tunisia.

The Nazis discovered John’s involvement in the plot after he fled to Spain and executed his Berlin University law professor brother, Hans, instead.

One top secret report from the bundles MI5 released says: “John has always been anti-Nazi. He and his brother had parted ways with many of their schoolmates and later from their student friends on this matter.”

Hans John was not the only innocent victim in the plot’s fallout. The Gestapo executed 5,000 people of the 7,000 they arrested.

John continued working for British intelligence interrogating captured German spies and playing a key role in the Political Warfare Executive which broadcast propaganda to a collapsing Germany.

But Mr Allason suspects there was another reason John’s MI6 activities had to be kept quiet. Six years after the 20 July plot John became head of the West German counter-intelligence service BfV, their equivalent of MI5.

Mr Allason added: “That meant an MI6 asset was in charge of a European spy agency on the frontline of the Cold War.

“The intelligence he could have provided to the British without West Germany’s knowledge would have been priceless.”

But after a ceremony on 20 July 1954 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Valkyrie plot John disappeared and turned up in East Germany three days later. The West Germans thought he had defected.

But he ended up in the hands of the Soviet KGB and for the next 18 months spoke out against the West from his new East German home before slipping back into West Berlin where he was immediately arrested.

He protested that the KGB had kidnapped him but was sentenced to four years jail for treason. He complained that the judges who convicted him were former Nazis bent on revenge.

John died in an Innsbruck sanitorium in 1997 after years of trying to prove his innocence. He claimed his statements against the West were made only to ensure his safety in the East.

A fifth and final attempt to get the case reopened a year before his death was turned down by a German court.

The British were unable to help because to do so would have meant admitting that MI6 had been running John all along.

Even East German spymaster Markus Wolf - the model for spy novelist John Le Carre’s cunning Karla - said John had been drugged and abducted to the East in a KGB op. But what really happened remains one of the enduring mysteries of the Cold War.

Mr Allason said: “In my view John had some kind of breakdown at that ceremony.

“Germans were not keen to celebrate the plot and still regarded it as treachery against the Führer.

“That was too much for John to cope with after everything he had been through.”

Secretary to SS Commander of Stutthof Concentration Camp Convicted

Holocaust survivor rebukes former concentration camp worker's court defence

A Holocaust survivor has said it is an "impossibility" that a former concentration camp secretary did not know of the atrocities that were committed there during World War II.

BBC News 21 DEC 2022.

Irmgard Furchner: Nazi typist guilty of complicity in 10,500 murders

Survivor and co-plaintiff Manfred Goldberg returned to Stutthof in 2017 with the Prince and Princess of Wales

On Tuesday, Irmgard Furchner, who was the secretary to the SS commander of the Stutthof concentration camp in NAZI-occupied Poland during World War II, was handed a two-year suspended sentence at the Itzehoe state court in northern Germany.

She was found guilty of being an accessory to the murder of more than 10,000 people and alleged to have "aided and abetted those in charge of the camp in the systematic killing of those imprisoned there between June 1943 and April 1945 in her function as a stenographer and typist in the camp commandant’s office".

During the trial Furchner’s defence lawyers had asked for her to be acquitted, claiming the evidence hadn’t shown beyond doubt that she knew about the systematic killings at the camp, meaning there was no proof of intent as required for criminal liability.

What Was a NAZI Spy Really Doing in The Donegal Gaeltacht Ahead of WWII?

The TG4 documentary "NAZI sa Ghaeltacht" investigates what Dr. Ludwig Mühlhausen, a NAZI party member and German linguist, was really doing in the Donegal Gaeltacht ahead of World War II.

Irish Central 24 DEC 2022.

While it might sound like a fictional tale of wartime intrigue, veteran investigative journalist Kevin Magee uncovers the real double life of Irish language scholar Dr. Ludwig Mühlhausen.

Kevin Magee at the Reichstag building in Berlin, Germany

In "Nazi sa Ghaeltacht," to be featured on Ireland's TG4 on June 22 at 9:30 pm, Magee investigates what Mühlhausen, a Nazi party member and German linguist, was really doing in the Donegal Gaeltacht in 1937 in the run-up to the Second World War.

In the one-hour documentary, made by Macha Media with support from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, Magee follows Mühlhausen’s journey - ostensibly in the Gaeltacht to collect folklore but secretly gathering information that would be exploited by the Third Reich.

Professor Mühlhausen perfected his knowledge of the Irish language in the tiny Irish-speaking hamlet of Teileann and used it to broadcast German propaganda into Ireland during World War Two. In a remarkable journey, Magee traces the professor’s footsteps back to Berlin and reveals the shocking truth about the German scholar who became the Gaelic Lord Haw Haw and a decorated SS officer.

Magee had heard stories of a Nazi spy who operated in Teileann in South Donegal ever since he himself started visiting the area over 40 years ago. Like Magee, Mühlhausen had also gone there to perfect his Irish, but the locals were always suspicious of the German’s real reasons for visiting.

Mühlhausen made no secret of the fact he was a committed Nazi and openly expressed his despair at how the locals weren’t enterprising, lacked German efficiency, and didn’t exploit the land and sea around them as he thought they should.

Magee said: “I wanted to find out if the story of the Nazi in the Gaeltacht was true, so I began investigating, talking to locals, asking questions, and examining a whole variety of sources. Piece by piece I was able to pull this remarkable story together.

"When I began my journey, I had no idea I would discover just how committed Mühlhausen was to the entire Nazi project. The plot reads like a World War Two thriller, except this story is for real.

"One of the first things he did in Teileann after he’d found somewhere to stay was hang a large picture of Hitler on his bedroom wall. He took photographs everywhere he went and measured the depth of Teileann Bay by dropping lead weights into the tide. Locals later speculated he was scouting the place out as a potential landing site for Nazi U-boats.”

Two years after his visit, the same local people who had facilitated his stay in Teileann were amazed to hear him broadcasting Nazi propaganda in Irish from a radio station in Berlin, urging the Irish to keep their neutrality and reminding them of atrocities the English had carried out in Ireland.

In this hour-long documentary, Magee brings a previously untold piece of Donegal history to life by hearing from historians, local people in Teileann, and military experts.

He begins his journey at the Slieve League cliffs in Donegal and travels to the Military Archives in Dublin where he uncovers a secret file the Irish intelligence service compiled on Mühlhausen during the war. From there, the trail takes him to Berlin where he uncovers previously unseen documents that reveal the German’s efforts to shape a Nazi plan for Ireland.

The deeper Magee gets into the investigation, the more extraordinary and sinister the story becomes.

Even at the end, with the Nazis defeated and Mühlhausen in a prisoner of war camp, he made one last desperate plea for help.

NAZI Monument at Swiss Cemetery Sparks Controversy

For decades the huge monolithic block of granite in the middle of the cemetery in the Swiss town of Chur was ignored by passers-by; no one seemed to know quite what it was.

BBC 2 APR 2023

The granite monument at the cemetery in the centre of the Swiss town of Chur

The origins of the monument and its links to the Nazi presence in Switzerland were unknown

Questions have been raised over what to do with the large granite monument at the Swiss cemetery

But the 13-tonne stone monument that dwarfs the nearby gravestones is now causing controversy - and embarrassment.

Research by a local journalist has revealed links to Nazi Germany, and to neutral Switzerland's own awkward relations with its World War Two neighbours.

Chur's cemetery is in the centre of town. Many people, like radio journalist Stefanie Hablützel, pass it every day on the way to work or out shopping.

Nowadays the monument at the cemetery, untended, is covered in moss. The engravings on it are difficult to discern.

"At first sight it looks like a war memorial," says Stefanie, pointing out some faint lettering: "1914 - 1918; hier ruhen deutsche Soldaten… here lie German soldiers."

Why, though, would German soldiers be buried here?

In fact, thousands of wounded prisoners of war, French and British as well as German, were treated and interned in Switzerland during World War One. Some died from their injuries, others during the 1918 flu pandemic.

But Chur's monument was not built until 1938. "That's 20 years after these men died," says Stefanie. "It wasn't built to mourn these dead soldiers, it was built for propaganda reasons, for the Nazi regime."

Swiss historian, Martin Bucher, explains that, as the Nazis grew in power in Germany, their propaganda involved cult-like worship of their war dead. In the 1930s the German War Graves Commission became part of Hitler's propaganda machine. Its task, to create visible signs of Nazi power in Germany's neighbours as well as at home.

There were many thousands of Germans living in Switzerland at the time, and, Martin says, they were organised. "In Switzerland all these organisations you know from Germany existed. The National Socialist Party, the German Labour Front, the Hitler Youth. They were all here, but only for Germans, not for Swiss people."

Germany's War Graves Commission submitted ambitious plans to build a vast mausoleum in the Swiss town of St Gallen. This was rejected by Swiss authorities. But the monument in Chur was approved. Polished and engraved in Munich, using the Nazis favourite Fraktur font, it was delivered to Chur on the eve of World War Two.

At the time, says Martin, Chur's residents must have known what it was. "On Nazi holidays they put Swastikas on this monument… people would have seen it was a Nazi monument."

Some were clearly unhappy. Stefanie uncovered an indignant letter to the local newspaper, written in 1938, asking:

"Why do we have a Nazi stone in our cemetery?"
Stefanie Hablützel, a local radio journalist in Chur, Switzerland
I didn't realise how many Nazi organisations were present in the 1930s, here in Chur

But some will have been supportive. Swiss sympathisers of Nazi Germany were well-documented in canton Graubünden, of which Chur is the capital. But homegrown Swiss fascist parties never really took off, getting only two seats in the Swiss parliament in 1935, and never standing again.

While Switzerland still has no official memorial to the Holocaust, parliament did approve plans for one in March last year. There are, however, around 50 unofficial monuments.

Throughout the war, Germans in Switzerland continued to be active in the Nazi party, and continued to display their Nazi sympathies. And the Swiss, hoping as usual to stay out of the fighting, made compromises with Berlin, banking Nazi gold, and turning away Jewish refugees.

Then, just one day after the war ended, neutral Switzerland got off the fence. "There was a huge purge," says Martin. "The Swiss government tried to punish Swiss Nazis, there were trials."

German Nazis, meanwhile, were expelled. "I think after that a lot of people were thinking it's done now, the Nazis are away, no problem," says Martin. "And I think they forgot this monument."

Historian Martin Bucher says Hitler's propaganda machine was tasked with creating visible signs of Nazi power in neighbouring countries

So complete was this collective amnesia that today, among people like Stefanie, born decades after the war, the origins of the monument, and the Nazi presence in Switzerland, were a revelation.

"I grew up here in Chur," she says. "And I didn't realise how many Nazi organisations were present in the 1930s, here in Chur."

Even local member of parliament Jon Pult was taken by surprise. "Switzerland wasn't Nazi free, and I knew that," he says. "But I didn't know about this monument.

"I live maybe 500 metres from the cemetery where this stone is, and I walked past that stone probably a hundred times, and I never realised that it is of course a Nazi stone. Now that I know it's very clear. I get it, I see it."

So, what should happen now?

Despite a certain embarrassment, very few people have suggested tearing down the monument. But even fewer, says Stefanie, say it should be left just as it is.

Instead, consensus seems to be forming around a proposal to re-examine and publicise that period in Swiss history, just as Switzerland had to re-examine, and apologise for, its treatment of Jewish refugees during the war.

"I think it should stay in Chur," says Martin, adding: "But I think it's important to tell people why it is there. Maybe it can be a monument to remember all the people who died in the Second World War."

Jon Pult agrees that Switzerland should "create a memorial" out of the monument "to remember the horrific crimes of the Nazis".

But also, he says, the monument, and the information he expects to be placed in the cemetery with it, should serve as a warning.

"We should create a culture of knowledge about this, because as we know there is always a danger of fascist ideologies, totalitarian ideologies, as we see now for example in Russia."

Saving The Children From The Holocaust

'Holocaust, Hebrew Shoʾah, Yiddish and Hebrew Ḥurban (“Destruction”), the systematic state-sponsored killing of six million Jewish men, women, and children and millions of others by NAZI Germany and its collaborators during World War II'

BBC 16 MAY 2023

Nicholas Wintons' Children: The Czech Jews rescued by 'British Schindler'

Sir Nicholas Winton was a 29-year-old stockbroker who in 1939 organized trains out of Prague to secure the safe passage of 669 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia to England at the dawn of World War II.

Winton set up an office in a hotel in Prague...

Dubbed the "British Schindler", Sir Nicholas Winton rescued 669 children destined for Nazi concentration camps from Czechoslovakia as the outbreak of World War Two loomed.

Winton and a refugee child in 1939

His death at the age of 106 came on the same day 76 years ago when the train carrying the largest number of children - 241 - departed from Prague.

The reluctant hero worked to find British families willing to put up £50 to look after the boys and girls in their homes.

His efforts were not publicly known for almost 50 years.

More than 370 of the children he saved have never been traced and do not know the full story.

'English Schindler' Winton was reunited with rescued children on That's Life in 1988

"One day my father called my brother and me and he said, 'sit down boys, you're going on a long journey'," said John Fieldsend, now 84.

Born in Germany, Mr Fieldsend's original name was Hans Heinrich Fiege.

His family fled to the Czech Republic when the Nazi persecution of the Jews began, prior to the outbreak of World War Two.

"As the train was leaving my mother took her wristwatch off, passed it through the window and simply said, 'remember us'."

Lia Lesser, 84, now lives in Birmingham but was originally taken in by a woman who lived on the Isle of Anglesey.

"We didn't know we wouldn't see our parents again," she said.

"I think they must have known there was a good chance they wouldn't see us again, and they were very brave to let us go."

"I never knew how my mother arranged it, she never talked about it," said Zuzana Maresova, who was born in Prague and later returned there.

She said her mother gave her a book about flowers and said, "you're going to a place where these flowers grow".

"That's all I knew," she said.

The humanitarian goals of Winton, who was born in the Hampstead district of north London in May 1909, were helped by a 1938 Act of Parliament that permitted the entry to the UK of refugee children under the age of 17, as long as money was deposited to pay for their eventual return home.

He set up an office in a hotel in Prague where he was quickly besieged by families desperate to get their children out before Nazi Germany invaded Czechoslovakia.

"There was a long queue and at the end of the queue was a small office, and we got some forms to fill in," said Ruth Halova, who was born in Prague.

"Within three months we got the names of foster parents who were prepared to take us in, and mine were a Mr and Mrs Jones from Birmingham."

The 90-year-old added: "There was a steam engine, the old wagons were made of wooden planks.

"Everybody got this label on cardboard with a piece of string with a number [on it], and then we were shoved into the carriages."

Milena Grenfell-Baines (left) and Ruth Halova are two of the people Winton rescued during his mission, which is commemorated by a statue at Prague railway station

Winton, who lived in Pinkneys Green in Maidenhead, until his death, worked with relief organisations to set up the Czech Kindertransport, just one of a number of initiatives attempting to rescue Jewish children from Germany and the Nazi-occupied territories.

He organised a total of eight trains from Prague, with some other forms of transport also set up from Vienna.

Ms Maresova said: "We were rather excited because we thought it was some kind of adventure."

However, she added the image of all the parents' "pressed faces to the windows and tears running down their faces, and wondering why they're crying", had remained with her all her life.

Mrs Lesser said: "The only thing I had was a pendant with a picture of Moses on one side, and on the other were the Ten Commandments, and that's the only piece of jewellery that I brought with me.

"Apart from that I had a Czech storybook... I had no dolls, teddy bears or anything like that. I just had two suitcases with clothes in."

Sir Nicholas Winton (bottom right, sitting down) in 1988 on That's Life when some of the people he rescued were in the audience and surprised him

"The next thing I remember was being handed over to a gentleman who couldn't speak Czech," said Ms Maresova of her arrival in England.

"He had a paper with all sorts of questions in English and Czech.

"Whenever he wanted to ask me something he pointed: 'Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? Do you want to drink something? Do you want to use the toilet?'"

Mrs Lesser said: "In the early days I corresponded with my parents and then we corresponded through the Red Cross, and then eventually the letters stopped.

"I think that's when they were in Auschwitz."

When the war ended she said realised they had "perished".

Winton was knighted by the Queen in March 2003

Mr Fieldsend received a letter just after the war, in 1946, and said his first thought was: "Hooray, they're alive."

"My mother wrote: 'When you receive this letter the war will be over... we want to say farewell to you - to our dearest possession in the world, and only for a short time were we able to keep you'," he said.

The letter went on to list other members of his family who had been "taken".

In the letter, his father wrote: We are going into the unknown with the hope that we shall yet see you again when God wills."

Mr Fieldsend described the letter as "fantastic", adding: "What wonderful parents I had."

Ms Halova was lucky to be reunited with her mother after the war and described it as "the answering of my biggest prayer".

Some 9,000 victims of the Nazis are buried in the Jewish cemetery at Terezin Memorial, formerly the Theresienstadt concentration camp, in the Czech Republic

In 2014, 60 Minutes met Nicholas Winton, a British stockbroker who in 1939 travelled to Czechoslovakia and saved 669 children from the Holocaust, by DECEPTION and FRAUD.

Neo-NAZI Group Caught Plotting Sickening Aryan Revolution -Using Lone-Wolf Terror Attacks During a Secret Meeting in a UK Lake District Village Hall

The New British Union (NBU) Caught Planning Lone Wolf Tactics at Meeting

BBC 10 JUNE 2023

The NBU, which claims to have thousands of members, features Nazi insignia on its website and glorifies Oswald Mosley

Retired maths teacher Clive Jones, 67, right, addresses the ragtag meeting alongside ‘Dave’, a member from Aberdeen

A neo-Nazi group has been caught by The Mail on Sunday discussing the launch of 'lone-wolf' action across Britain.

The New British Union (NBU), which has promoted 'total Aryanism', revealed its sickening agenda at a secret meeting infiltrated by a reporter last week.

Speaking in front of a flag emblazoned with the flash and circle of Oswald Mosley's British Union Of Fascists, deputy leader Clive Jones addressed a gathering of black-shirted fanatics, including some in Nazi uniform, and suggested members could be given a banned bomb-making guide.

Explaining the organisation of lone-wolf action – terror attacks carried out by an individual – he said instructions would be issued by a leader 'feeding information in a roundabout sort of way'.

Far-Right thugs would be given directions on 'how to be a lone wolf and pick targets' and would be given a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook – a terrorist manual that includes bomb-making instructions and is banned in the UK.

This Man Should Have SHOT Hitler…

One of the biggest what ifs in History was when a British soldier during the First World War spared a German soldier who had ran into the wrong area.

BBC 17 SEP 2023

Private Henry James Tandey VC, DCM, MM (born Tandy, 30 August 1891 – 20 December 1977) was a British recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Years of service: 1907–1926

Henry Tandey was the British soldier armed with his rifle, and the young German soldier was Adolf Hitler. Tandey would not shoot Adolf Hitler, and he would then allow him to return to his trench and the German Army. But he could have also captured him as a prisoner of war, but he would not do this.

The bullet that Henry Tandey could have fired may have decades later saved the lives of millions of people during the Second World War.

Henry Tandey's encounter with Hitler would live fondly in the German Dictators mind, and he was favourable to the British for this sparing act. Hitler would even send a message to Tandey before the war broke out about this.

But Henry Tandey would late regret his decision not to shoot Hitler, especially as the Luftwaffe heavily bombed his hometown.

The Punch That Burst The Bubble: Residents of Hitlers’ Alpine Home Rise Up Against Neo-Nazi Visitors

An act of random violence has spurred the villagers of Berchtesgaden to take a stand against Germanys’ far right

The Guardian 6 JAN 2024

Hitlers’ Alpine Home

Jakob Palm at the Kuckucksnest bar at Berchtesgaden Germany: ‘You don’t get this village back – this historical spot is gone for you forever

The punch that floored Joseph Brandner, 34, at 11.30pm on 24 August was the start of it all. Three men wearing Division Deutschland T-shirts, a brand associated with neo-Nazis, had walked up behind him as he was enjoying a drink with friends at a beer table outside the Kuckucksnest bar in the Bavarian alpine town of Berchtesgaden.

Brandner – who has been learning-disabled since being hit by a car at the age of 17 – was sucker-punched to the ground. “Wankers!” screamed his tattooed assailant. “Come on – three on three.”

Brandner’s two friends, including the owner of the bar, Jakob Palm, 33, hurriedly picked him up and took him inside. Two of the attackers were found later by police. The men, in their 20s and 30s, were visiting from northern Germany. The slow wheels of justice continue to grind.

It was a traumatic episode, the sort of random violence not experienced in this quiet conservative community of 8,000 people for many years, but it was also a moment of epiphany for Palm and others.

A video of Palm describing what happened has been viewed 15,000 times on Instagram. A meeting of about 40 concerned people was held at the Kuckucksnest and a resolution was made.

“I think it’s very important to say: ‘You don’t get this village back – this historical spot is gone for you forever,’” said Palm, a father of a four-year-old son and two-year-old twin daughters, speaking of the birth that day of a citizens’ initiative known as Berchtesgaden Against the Right. The punch of 24 August burst “the bubble” of Berchtesgaden’s complacency, Palm said.

The Obersalzberg Documentation exhibition in Berchtesgaden

“The fact that many people from relevant rightwing circles are making pilgrimages to Obersalzberg again today is a thorn in the side of many in the Berchtesgaden valley basin,” a website set up by the initiative says. “Our goal is to take a clear stand for a democratic and cosmopolitan society in times of rightwing extremist activities and attacks.”

It is inevitable that Berchtesgaden, the chocolate-box pretty town high in the German alps, will be for ever associated with Adolf Hitler. He first came to the Obersalzberg, the mountainside area above Berchtesgaden, in 1923, and went on to buy Haus Wachenfeld, a modest chalet that would be steadily expanded as his power grew.

By 1936, the Berghof, as it was renamed, was the German Führer’s second seat of power after Berlin, amid a complex of private and government buildings where he spent a quarter of his time as chancellor.

Adolf Hitler signs autographs at the Berghof

Hitler’s closest acolytes, Martin Bormann, Albert Speer, Hermann Göring, requisitioned or built neighbouring homes. It was at the Berghof that Hitler hosted Lloyd George, Neville Chamberlain and the former King Edward VIII and his wife, Wallis Simpson.

From its “great room”, overlooking the snow-capped Untersberg massif, Hitler launched the invasion of Poland in September 1939, plotted Operation Barbarossa against the Soviet Union and executed the siege of Leningrad at the cost of the lives of 800,000 of its inhabitants.

Hitler’s sister Paula, who died in 1960 at the age of 64, is buried in Berchtesgaden’s cemetery but little else remains of that dark chapter in history. The Berghof was damaged in a British air raid on 25 April 1945 and burned down by the Obersalzberg SS a few days later. The postwar US military government ordered the ruins to be blown up in 1952 to avoid it becoming a shrine, with fast-growing trees planted over them. A foundation wall is all that remains today.

It has, however, always been a place of pilgrimage for some – and the numbers appear to be on the rise.

The Dokumentation Obersalzberg, a museum 300 metres from the Berghof site, reopened in October after a €30m expansion with the express intent of contrasting the idyllic surroundings to the crimes ordered here.

On its opening day, one visitor scrawled in the visitors book: “Das ist das wahre Deutschland stolz national’“ (This is the real Germany, proudly national).

A map of Obersalzberg is displayed on a multimedia table in the new museum.

Lena Thurnhausstatter, 25, an education officer at the museum, said it was not a daily occurrence but that she had collected Post-it notes in the last few days daubed with antisemitic comments. They had been stuck to the museum’s “participation wall”. Some of them referenced the war between Israel and Hamas.

All this comes at a time when far-right views are on the ascendancy across Germany, with the anti-immigration Alternative für Deutschland party boasting continued electoral success. Local centre-right parties have also played with extremist language. The accommodation of asylum seekers in local hotels has provoked concerns.

“It has never been broken,” said Norbert Egger, 67, of the hold of far-right views on some parts of German society. The old prejudices were never far from the surface, he claimed, noting that the golf club near the Berghof, of which Egger has been chair in recent years, had been established in 1955 on 20 April – the day of Hitler’s birthday.

The remains of the retaining wall of the Berghof in the forest near the museum

A protest rally was organised by the initiative in September. About 300 people marched through Berchtesgaden’s cobbled streets and were addressed in solidarity by the mayor, Franz Rasp, of the centre-right Christian Social Union party (CSU). A night-time vigil was held in November for victims of the 1938 Kristallnacht pogroms.

Further events were planned for Hitler’s birthday, including “a human chain” of people holding hands from one end of the town to the other, said Michael Gruber, 25.

More immediately, in the next few days, a first step will be made to rename Von Hindenburg Allee, a central street in Berchtesgaden named in 1933 after the-then German president in honour of his decision to make Hitler chancellor.

Palm’s great-grandfather was the mayor responsible, under duress, for making Paul von Hindenburg and Hitler “honoured citizens”.

“As a family we all want that decision denounced [by the regional parliament] and for the street to be renamed”, he said. That it remains as it is is seen as evidence of a dangerous ambivalence.

“We are late but it is never too late to fight for democracy,” said Anna Stangassinger, 22.

The purpose is not only to dissuade unwelcome visitors but to ask all those who hold what may be unpalatable views to some to draw a line at violence. Palm said: “The answer to the country’s problems isn’t going back to nazism – it doesn’t get better with iPhones.”

Egger, a retired businessman who served in the air force in the late 1970s “with the old Nazis as commanders and the young Nazis as colleagues”, said the cross-party effort offered hope that Germany could reject the poison of the past.

“From my point of view, in our risky situation in Germany, in contrast to 1933, all democrats have to work together against fascists”, he said. “We missed that in Germany 90 years ago but we shouldn’t make the same mistake again.”

What Neo-Nazis Have Inherited From Original Nazism - Documentary

What resemblance do today’s ethnonationalistic ideologies bear to those which surged during the rise of the Nazis in the Weimar-era? Quite a lot, this documentary shows. Germany’s far-right neo-nazi scene is now bigger than at any time since National Socialism.

Turmoil in Germany Over Neo-NAZI Mass Deportation Meeting – AfD Plans to Turn Germany Into Authoritarian State, Similar to Russia Vice-Chancellor Warns

Revelation that members of AfD met with far-right to discuss removing asylum seekers has sparked days of protests. Robert Habeck tacitly backs calls to ban far-right party

The Guardian 20 JAN 2024

Neo-Nazism- Movement to revive Nazi ideologies

Over the past week tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of German cities to demonstrate against rightwing extremism.

The protests were sparked by the revelation that members of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party had attended a meeting with neo-Nazis and other extremists to discuss the mass deportation of migrants, asylum seekers and German citizens of foreign origin deemed to have failed to integrate.

The far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party is planning to transform Germany into an authoritarian state similar to Russia, the country’s vice-chancellor and economics minister, has warned, tacitly backing calls to ban the party.

Speaking a week after it emerged that party members had participated in a meeting to discuss mass deportations, allegedly including German citizens, Robert Habeck said the danger the party posed to democracy had been gravely underestimated.

As a fifth night of anti-AfD protests saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets of German cities, with more expected later on Wednesday, Habeck appeared to support calls to outlaw the party, while stressing the risks of such a move “dangerously backfiring” were it to fail.

“The damage that a failed attempt would cause would be massive. Which is why if a case is put, it would have to absolutely 100% stand up in court. It’s something you have to consider very carefully,” the Green politician told the magazine Stern.

Such a decision would lie with Germany’s constitutional court “and the hurdles are, as they should be, very high”, he said. It would be far better for the AfD to be beaten democratically at the polls, he added.

“The rightwing authoritarians are concerned about an attack on the essence of the republic,” Habeck said. “They want to turn Germany into a state like Russia and are systematically preparing for this.”

The AfD has shifted to the right since its founding in 2013 and has seen a steady increase in its popularity in recent months, in some cases outpolling the government parties.

Over the past week, media and political observers have scrutinised the evidence as to who was among the AfD members, neo-Nazis and rightwing extremist Identitarian movement attenders at the November gathering in Potsdam.

On Wednesday, the Werte Union, a self-described arch conservative grassroots movement within the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its sister party, the CSU, admitted that two of its members had been in attendance.

But the Werte Union, which seeks to restrict immigration, bolster the German military and reduce taxes, accused the investigative bureau Correctiv, which revealed that the meeting had taken place, of exaggerating the nature of the agenda. At the same time it admitted that the topic of “remigration” had been discussed. It said its members had been invited as private guests and not as representatives of the Werte Union.

The Werte Union’s chair, Hans-Georg Maaßen of the CDU, recently announced his plans to transform the movement into a party in its own right. The CDU is attempting to expel him.

On Wednesday, Correktiv is due to present its research at the Berliner Ensemble theatre, and has said it will bring further details to light.

The chancellor, Olaf Scholz, tweeted on Wednesday: “I am grateful that tens of thousands of people have been going on to the streets of Germany in recent days to protest against racism, rabble-rousing, and for our liberal democracy. That gives us courage and shows: there are far more of us democrats than those who seek to divide.”

Lars Klingbeil, the chair of the ruling Social Democrats, called on “all the sensible people” who had so far not spoken out against the AfD, “to turn up the volume”.

Katharina Dröge, the parliamentary leader of the Greens, told the news network RND: “We’re all called on now, in our private lives, in the workplace, at sport, when shopping, to clearly state that voting for the AfD is to vote for rightwing extremists, who pose a threat to democracy.”

A fledgling alliance of anti far-right groups calling itself Hand in Hand, which so far includes more than 120 organisations, is planning nationwide demonstrations against the AfD, including a human chain around the Reichstag parliament building in Berlin, under the slogan “We are the firewall”.

Tareq Alaows, one of the organisers who has been building the alliance since the summer in reaction to the AfD’s rising poll ratings, told the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung: “If the political parties can’t succeed in stopping the rightwing extremists, we have to create a human firewall against them.”

‘I Knew Nothing’: The Warsaw Ghetto Boy Who Found His Family at 83

A DNA test has helped Shalom Koray find relatives in the US after escaping the Holocaust in a rucksack at the age of two

The Guardian 27 JAN 2024

In 1943, a two-year-old boy found wandering the streets of the Warsaw ghetto at the height of the Jewish uprising was smuggled out in a rucksack, probably by a police officer.

The identity of the child could not be known. There was no one to attest even to a first name. His early life would be spent hidden away in orphanages, still not safe from antisemitic persecution, and without any real understanding of what it was to have a parent.

Five months ago, that same boy, now 83, discovered a family thanks to the desire of an American woman to trace her ancestry, the curiosity of a Polish academic about the plight of those orphaned by the Holocaust, and an advance in DNA technology that has made the dogged efforts of a researcher possible.

Shalom Koray, the name the boy was given at the age of eight on emigrating to Israel in 1949, will this summer meet for the first time a blood relative beyond that of his own three children and eight grandchildren: Ann Meddin Hellman, 77, a cousin from Charleston, South Carolina.

It might be said to represent a defeat, however small, for the hate that destroyed so many futures, the consequences of which are being marked on Saturday’s Holocaust Memorial Day – the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

Shalom Koray, who has worked on trucks for most of his life in Israel.

“You can’t go looking for something if you don’t know what you want to find,” said Koray of the family he has found. “I didn’t know anything. If not for the DNA test, like, there is nothing.”

Koray had been left in the care of a Catholic institution named after Saint Andrew Bobol, in Zakopane, a town in southern Poland, after being smuggled out of the ghetto in 1943.

It was here that Lena Küchler-Silberman, a Polish Jew who had worked for the resistance under an alias, found him and other orphans, emaciated and wild, after the war.

She had been tasked by what she described as the Jewish committee to look after them with the intention of taking them to Palestine.

Koray remembers his heroine visiting. “We sat there, I don’t know what we were doing, loads of children inside a hall, without chairs, without anything,” he recalled. “In the middle a fireplace. She stood at the door and started throwing candies into the hall. I told myself: ‘If I leave the fireplace I will lose my spot next to it’. I gave up the candies. I stayed next to the fireplace.”

Lena Küchler-Silberman with Shalom Koray to her right and other children.

In an interview in 1946, Küchler-Silberman gave her own recollection. “When I appeared with the candy before the children, these children threw themselves at me with such violence, and screamed so frightfully,” she said. “One child trampled on the other, and one pushed away the other … These children pushed me completely against the wall, and the mother superior had to rescue me. And these were all children from two to five years old.”

She took five Jewish children, three boys and two girls, to join as many as 100 others. They travelled to Czechoslovakia, France and finally, in 1949, a smaller group emigrated with Küchler-Silberman to Israel. Koray, who had been given the name Piotr Korczak in Poland, was adopted and his name was changed. He lives in northern Israel today, and has worked on trucks for most of his life.

Koray’s history would have remained a mystery but for the work of Magdalena Smoczyńska, a professor emeritus at the Jagiellonian University.

For five years, Smoczyńska has been researching the fate of approximately 100 children who survived the Holocaust and ended up in orphanages at the end of the war, including the one in Zakopane.

Last summer, she approached Koray and asked him for a cheek swab to put through a MyHeritage DNA test, which could be used to potentially find a match with others.

In September, on the other side of the world, Ann Meddin Hellman, whose interest in Jewish ancestry saw her honoured in South Carolina with the Order of the Jewish Palmetto in 2015, received notification of such a match.

“His name meant nothing to me,” she admitted, but thanks to the work of a genealogy expert at MyHeritage, Daniel Horowitz, a family tree was slowly built up.

It emerged that Meddin Hellman’s grandfather, Abrahm Louis Mednitzky Meddin, had emigrated to the US in 1893, unknowingly saving his side of the family from the horrors of the coming genocide in Europe.

He had had a brother, Yadidia Mednitsky, who fatefully stayed behind. The DNA test proved that Koray was in all likelihood Mednitsky’s grandson.

Familial similarities only added to the shock. Meddin Hellman said:

“When the picture came through, my husband and I said, ‘That’s my brother’. We have all thought that this branch of the family was wiped out. Finding Shalom is a miracle.”

Italy Lodges Protest After Citizen Led in Chains Into Budapest Court

Hungarian ambassador summoned amid national uproar at treatment of Ilaria Salis, accused of attacking neo-Nazis

The Guardian 1 FEB 2024

A chained Ilaria Salis is led into the Budapest courtroom.

Italys’ government has said that authorities in Hungary went “too far” in putting in chains an Italian woman who is awaiting trial for allegedly attacking neo-Nazis.

Italian ministers summoned Budapests ambassador in protest on Tuesday.

Images of Ilaria Salis, 39, with her hands cuffed and chained and her feet locked together as she sat in court were on the front pages of Italy’s major newspapers, amid rising outrage over her case.

The teacher from Monza, near Milan, was arrested in Budapest in February last year following a counter-demonstration against a neo-Nazi rally.

She was charged with three counts of attempted assault and accused of being part of an extreme leftwing organisation.

She denies the charges, which could see her jailed for up to 11 years.

“This time it seems to me it has gone too far,” Italian foreign minister Antonio Tajani told RAI radio.

The case is potentially embarrassing for Giorgia Meloni, the Italian prime minister, as she and deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini have close ties with Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s nationalist PM.

Tajani said he did not want to interfere in Hungary’s justice system, but that “treating a prisoner in that way really seems inappropriate, not in tune with our legal culture”.

The Hungarian chargé d’affaires had been summoned to the foreign ministry on Tuesday to explain, Tajani said, adding: “We are in the European Union and there are citizens’ rights that must be respected.”

Tajani said he had previously spoken to Hungary’s foreign minister about the case.

The Italian ambassador to Hungary on Tuesday paid a visit to the justice ministry in Budapest after meeting with Salis’s father.

Tajani proposed that Salis be put under house arrest rather than held in jail.

“It was shocking, she was dragged like a dog,” one of Salis’s lawyers, Eugenio Losco, told the Ansa news agency. “It was crazy, and the Italian state must end this situation now.”

Meloni, leader of the Brothers of Italy party, has long been close to Orbán. But they have diverged over Ukraine, with Rome sending money and weapons to Kyiv to help it defend itself against Russia’s invasion, while Orbán vetoed a multibillion-euro EU aid package for Kyiv in December.

Salis is due to stand trial on 24 May.

Movies re: The Jewish Schindler: Woman Posed as Countess to Fool NAZIS & Save 10,000 Lives

The 'Jewish Schindler':

The Astonishing UNTOLD Story of The Fearless Woman Who Posed as a Christian Countess to Fool The NAZIS - And Save 10,000 Lives.

So, why don't you know her name?

MailOnline 9 FEB 2024

Countess Suchodolska

The daughter of a wealthy Jewish estate owner, she socialized with the local nobility, absorbing their manners and customs. (Above - the students of Jan Kazimierz University in Lwów. Janina Mehlberg is in the bottom row, far right; Henry Mehlberg is in the top row, far left)

The Countess had organized the plot by sneaking messages in her humanitarian supplies between the partisans and resistance members imprisoned in Majdanek. (Above, a warning sign in German and Polish at Majdanek)

In 1989, Holocaust historian Elizabeth White received a package containing the memoir of an unknown Polish Countess, who claimed to have rescued thousands of prisoners from a Nazi concentration camp.

Her astonishing untold story would rival the heroics of Oskar Schindler.

But, unable to verify the remarkable tale, White left the memoir untouched – until 2018, when she partnered with fellow historian Joanna Sliwa to authenticate its contents.

Now, White can reveal in 'The Counterfeit Countess' what they discovered was even more astonishing than she could have imagined.

Countess Suchodolska Heard a Whip Crack.

Spinning about, she saw Nazi SS Lieutenant Thuman scowling down at her from horseback.

'What's in that damn truck of yours?' he snarled.

The Countess had come to Majdanek at the head of her usual convoy of trucks to deliver bread and vats of soup for thousands of the concentration camp's prisoners.

But the truck Thumann was now approaching concealed additional supplies - razor blades and spiked alcohol.

The Countess was smuggling them for prisoners who would soon be transported to another camp. The plan was for them to ply their guards with the drugged booze and subdue them when Polish partisans attacked the train en route.

The Countess had organized the plot by sneaking messages in her humanitarian supplies between the partisans and resistance members imprisoned in Majdanek.

She faced torture and execution if the plot were discovered. The same fate awaited her if it succeeded, for suspicion would immediately fall on her.

It was suicide. But she was willing to pay with her life if it bought the prisoners' freedom.

Hoping to distract Thumann as the prisoners unloaded the truck, the Countess replied calmly, 'Soup and bread, plus milk for the sick as usual.'

Thumann wheeled back toward her. 'You're lying!'

Straightening to her full 5'1' height, the 87-pound Countess looked the SS officer looming over her in the eye: 'Nothing else. If you don't believe me, why don't you have it checked?'

Having failed to rattle the Countess, Thumann rode off in disgust.

He hated the Polish aristocrat and dreamed of finding a reason to hang her in his camp.

Fortunately for her, he had not seen behind her disguise.

For the Countess was not an aristocrat, nor was her name Suchodolska.

She was Janina Spinner Mehlberg, a brilliant mathematician, an officer in the Polish resistance ... and a Jew.

Janina's early life prepared her for the role of Countess Suchodolska.

The daughter of a wealthy Jewish estate owner, she socialized with the local nobility, absorbing their manners and customs.

At 22, she obtained a Ph.D. from the prestigious university in Lwów (today Lviv, Ukraine).

With her husband, philosopher Henry Mehlberg, she lived in comfort and actively participated in Lwów's prewar intellectual circles.

Then the war began. The Germans seized Lwów, and the Mehlbergs experienced the horrors of persecution, privation, and the constant threat of murder.

This is when Janina showed the first signs of unusual bravery.

When Ukrainian militia seized Henry for a mass shooting, she refused to leave his side, even after a militiaman cracked her in the face with his rifle butt.

Her stubborn defiance so impressed a German Army officer that he pulled Henry from the group that was destined for death.

In December 1941, the Mehlbergs were required to move into Lwów's ghetto, where they knew death awaited them.

Instead, they fled with Janina's old family friend, Count Andrzej Skrzyński, who promised to provide them false papers as Polish Christians if they went with him to Lublin.

Although Jews were not permitted to travel, they made the dangerous journey safely. But in the Lublin train station, a German policeman suddenly seized Henry, accusing him of carrying contraband.

In a flash, Janina haughtily confronted the policeman in perfect German until, intimidated by her imperious demeanor, he let Henry go.

Years later, Janina wrote about the lesson she learned in this encounter and that she would go on to use to save lives:

'What do you do with your fear and trembling in a confrontation with a swaggering bully? You confine it to the small prison of the heart, letting none seep into the muscles of the eyes, hands, or legs; you quake within and show calm authority without—you pull off a hoax. You must not toady to them, you must not let them sniff blood. Composure and coolness toward them implied the backing of power, and in the face of power they might very well shrink.'

In Lublin, Janina became Countess Suchodolska. But even as supposed ethnic Poles, the Mehlbergs still faced persecution.

The Nazis viewed Poles as subhuman racial enemies only a little better than the Jews, and Poland's German occupiers took the lives of nearly two million Poles as well as three million Polish Jews.

Witnessing suffering and death all around her, Janina decided to do everything in her power to save others and resist the Germans.

She proceeded on the basis of a simple mathematical principle: one life has a lesser value than multiple lives, and her own life would have no value if she did not use it to save others.

There are other inspiring stories of rescue during the Holocaust. In German-occupied Poland, Oskar Schindler, Irena Sendler, and Warsaw zookeepers Jan and Antonina Żabiński together rescued perhaps more than 3,000 Nazi victims.

They were non-Jews who rescued Jews.

Janina's story is unique.

She was a Jew who rescued non-Jews.

At Majdanek, she persuaded the commandant to permit ever more frequent deliveries of ever greater quantities of food by framing them as measures to preserve his prisoners' capacity to perform forced labor.

She even won permission to deliver decorated Christmas trees and Easter eggs. And she used the deliveries as cover to smuggle messages, books, medical equipment, and weapons to resistance members imprisoned in the camp.

On every delivery, Janina passed the building that housed Majdanek's gas chambers.

63,000 Jews were murdered at Majdanek.

Janina saw the smoke from the camp's crematorium and burn pits, and knew its source.

Still, almost daily, she entered the den of mass murder.

She went there on the day her plot was to see fruition.

Some prisoners called her over to thank her for the aid that had enabled them to survive. As she shook their hands through the wire, a car screeched to a halt behind her.

Thumann jumped out. Reaching for his sidearm, he threatened to shoot her on the spot, but the other passenger, the commandant, stopped him.

Janina watched the prisoner transport depart, then radioed the resistance to prepare to attack the train.

It never happened.

Her resistance commander had led her to risk her life for a plot that he knew his superiors had not approved.

The realization that she had given the prisoners false hope of freedom filled Janina with anguish and rage.

By the end of World War II, Janina negotiated the release from captivity of nearly 10,000 Poles. It is impossible to determine how many more survived thanks to her relief and resistance activities.

Janina Mehlberg (then known as Suchodolska) tours a Minneapolis school for children with disabilities in 1948. Her visit was part of her United Nations fellowship

And yet, to the end of her days, she was haunted by the many lives she failed to save.

Janina survived the war and was a math professor in Chicago when she died in 1969.

Hers is a story of selfless courage in the face of unspeakable cruelty.

Only now is it being told.

Oskar Schindler (above), Irena Sendler, and Warsaw zookeepers Jan and Antonina Żabiński together rescued perhaps more than 3,000 Nazi victims. They were non-Jews who rescued Jews. Janina's story is unique. She was a Jew who rescued non-Jews.

The world needs such stories.

Default Re: OUTRAGE; NAZI Flags Flown in Nashville on Republican Supported White Supremacy Ma

SHAME ON YOU AMERICA - WHY HAVENT YOU MADE THESE MARCHES ILLEGAL?

Locals Outraged Over White Supremacy March and NAZI Flags Flown on Steps of Tennessee Capitol Building.

Black lawmakers in the state lashed out at Republican colleagues for 'normalizing' extremist views

MailOnline 18 FEB 2024

The marchers are thought to be from the 'Blood Tribe' white supremacist group that has staged previous rallies in Wisconsin and Orlando

Chilling footage shows a group of masked neo-Nazis marching through historic black neighborhoods in Nashville on Saturday before raising their swastika flags at the State capitol.

Dozens of uniformed extremists descended on Tennessee throwing Hitler salutes as they marched in step down Nashville's 'Honky Tonk Highway'.

Christopher 'Hammer' Pohlhaus (pictured center right) founded the neo-Nazi 'Blood Tribe'

The group was unchallenged as they occupied a podium at the state capitol building for a show of strength, but were met with fury as they took their protest to the streets.

'Show me your f***ing faces!' one bystander screamed as they stomped past, 'What are you ashamed of?'

'You don't belong here,' one replied, 'Go to your third-world country.'

The neo-Nazis went
unchallenged as they hoisted their swastika flags above a podium at Tennessee's state capitol

The group, thought to be 'Blood and Tribe' members threw Hitler salutes as they marched through Broadway in Nashville's historic black district

Ordinary people were caught up in the drama as the extremists marched through downtown Nashville on Saturday afternoon

The group is an extreme white supremacist groups that espouse anti-Semitic, racist and homophobic views and parades in military-style clothing, often while heavily armed.

Based in Maine, it was founded by former US Marine turned tattoo artist Christopher Polhaus, who has been linked to the January 6 riots at the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC, in 2021.

It does not allow female or LGBT members and regard itself as a hardcore group that sees itself as 'the only path to a white ethnostate', and rejects white supremacists who call for softer 'optics', according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Last year it picketed drag shows in Wisconsin and Ohio, as well as arriving heavily armed at two Pride events in Toledo and Watertown, performing Hitler salutes and chanting 'Us or the pedophiles'.

The group clashed with right-wing journalist and former Congressional candidate Laura Loomer during its protest at Orlando in September.

At one point, video showed one of the members tell Loomer she should be 'thrown in an oven' while also yelling slurs at her.

'Very vitriolic and irrational behavior,' the Jewish Trump loyalist tweeted.

'But, it is moments like this that remind us that this is what free speech was created for. Speech you disagree with is also free speech.'

In November, around 20 members of the group halted outside a former synagogue in Wisconsin chanting 'Israel is not our friend' and 'there will be blood' as state police looked on.

Tennessee lawmaker Justin Jones was leaving an event honoring a Black sorority when he stumbled into the path of the marchers on Saturday afternoon.

He said it was the second time in a matter of months that far-right groups had targeted the state capitol and blamed Republican lawmakers for fostering a culture of impunity.

'They're normalizing this, so that these types of extreme manifestations of white supremacy feel comfortable coming out into the streets,' he added.

'I didn't want to run away and hide from it, because I think we have to let people know that this is our community, and that we're not going to be intimidated.'

Democratic Rep Aftyn Behn agreed with the claim, tweeting: 'These groups once relegated to the dark corners now feel empowered to spew their noxious ideology out in the open due to our state's leadership refusing to condemn their speech and actions.'

Nashville vice mayor Angie Henderson shared Behn’s post on X and added: 'That I even have to say this. NAZIS are NOT WELCOME in NASHVILLE.

'In America everyone is free to demonstrate & to say what they want, so: SHAME ON YOU ALL!

'Get your hateful, dangerous, fascist, nazi nonsense off our streets & off our beautiful Public Square.'

Ruwan Karu who confronted those on the Nashville march said he was determined to let them know that they are the minority.

'Seeing Nazis rally in broad daylight on a lovely Saturday afternoon in downtown Nashville should make us all angry,' he told The Daily Beast.

'Families enjoying chicken and BBQ were subject to hate our grandparents fought against.'

But Republican House Majority Leader William Lamberth insisted he shared their concerns.

'Go away Nazi thugs,' he tweeted, 'This is Tennessee and you are NOT welcome here.

'Btw, why not show your faces so we can all see who you are? I would be willing to bet that none of you are from anywhere near here.'

Jewish Metro Councilmember Jacob Kupin told News 2 he received calls asking if he was okay after also seeing the march.

'My response to them was kind of, sadly, ‘I’m almost used to it at this point',' he said

Over the summer, we experienced a number of instances where people dropped anti-Semitic literature on people’s doorsteps, and there was an incident where someone painted a swastika on buildings.'

Nazi flag hung on I-196 overpass in Grand Rapids

This shows the sickening bias and hate in the US. But for authorities continuing to allow such marches across many states Is a DISGRACE.

They are BANNED in many countries, especially Germany

Movies Re: American Neo-NAZI Hate Network Grooming Children For Race War

Inside The American Neo-NAZI Hate Network Grooming Children For Race War

Grooming for Hate: Online Radicalization and Neo-Nazism - Jordan Green, Journalist

MSRAW 10 MAR 2024

Two rabbis sat down for dinner at Chabad Jewish Center in Pensacola, Fla. The air on this July evening was warm and tranquil. A sense of peace filled the kitchen where the men shared their meal.

Suddenly, something crashed through the window, sending glass flying. The rabbis rushed over to investigate. Scrawled on the brick that lay on their floor: a swastika and the words “No Jews.”

Within days, local police arrested four white teenagers and collectively charged them with 18 felonies — not only in connection to the brick-throwing incident, but also for bigoted attacks on two area synagogues, a mosque and a Masonic lodge.

The group’s reputed ringleader, 17-year-old Waylon Fowler, initially denied responsibility. But he later admitted to an Escambia County sheriff’s deputy that he threw the brick. Fowler is also accused of throwing another brick — marked with swastikas, “SS” symbols and the words “Death to k----” — through the bathroom window at Temple Beth El.

That could have been the end of Fowler’s hate-filled story — the saga of a misguided boy and his friends who, when caught red-handed, vowed to right their ways.

Instead, the boys began taking an ever-darker path that, in their vision for America, includes a revolution leading to the collapse of the United States and a race war that drives Black people, Jews and LGBTQ+ people out of future whites-only homelands.

It’s a vision that has attracted young neo-Nazis across the country.

Raw Story spent four months investigating the 2119 Blood and Soil Crew, a nationwide network of teenage Nazis. The investigation revealed that Fowler now ranks among the leaders of the network.

In recent months, 2119 members have waged a campaign of targeted terror aimed at Jews, African Americans, LGBTQ+ people and leftists. Their targets include Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Texas and California. In mid-November, 2119’s official Telegram channel suggested the group had expanded to 21 states.

The 2119 gang’s rise as a clandestine network of teenagers who promote and carry out acts of antisemitic and racist violence hasn’t been organic. The group has undertaken a concerted marketing strategy of recruiting children by appealing to their interests, such as online gaming and skateboarding.

Nazi youth associated with 2119 are now under investigation by the FBI, Raw Story has confirmed. The FBI is also actively assisting local police departments as law enforcement pursues crimes committed in the group’s name.

But this legal danger has only emboldened the Nazi teens. They’ve indicated even bigger plans for sowing hate and fear across the country. And they’re recruiting more and more disaffected children to their cause.

The group’s activity comes at a moment when social tension throughout America builds by the day.
Local crime spree, national emergence

Fowler’s neo-Nazi youth group first emerged in 2022 as an under-18 boys auxiliary to the burgeoning “active club” movement — a loose collection of white supremacists united by their interest in fight training, mixed martial arts and white nationalist activism.

After renaming itself Revolutionary White Brotherhood — some bricks that shattered Pensacola windows featured the initials “R.W.B” — the group resurfaced after the arrests of Fowler and his associates as “2119.”

The number is an alphanumeric code. Two represents “B” for “blood,” 1 represents “A” for “and,” and 19 represents “S” for “soil. “Blood and soil” is a slogan dating back to Nazi Germany that invokes a racial claim on land.

Using a newly formed channel on encrypted social media app Telegram, 2119 members gleefully celebrated Fowler’s deeds by circulating an image of the brick used in the Chabad Jewish Center attack. They fashioned Fowler a martyr, circulating a stylized image of him with boyish looks and tousled hair and peppered their communications with the hashtag #FreeWaylon.

The brick quickly became a symbol of action central to the group’s identity. Members in the various Telegram chats associated with 2119 often used the verb “bricking” and referred to themselves as “brickstas.”

A national leadership cadre that had been coalescing since 2022 had now shifted into high gear. Members shared unsettling characteristics: all white boys or young men in their mid- to late-teens who embraced extreme violence against Black people and members of other marginalized groups. They delighted in a catchphrase that encapsulates an extreme aspect of a segment of the hyperviolent, racist internet culture: — “total n— death.”

Other teenage neo-Nazis that gravitated to the 2119 banner steeped themselves in virulent hate and a paramilitary aesthetic that draws as much from the Irish Republican Army and Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as the Third Reich. The exact size of 2119’s membership is unknown. But a source knowledgeable with the group’s internal dynamics said it numbers in the hundreds.

American Neo-NAZI Leader Sean Kauffmann Charged With Child Abuse, Domestic Violence

Sean Kauffmann, Who Leads The Tennessee Active Club, Posed With MAGA Franklin Mayoral Candidate Gabrielle Hanson a self-proclaimed Neo-NAZI, Many Times

MSRAW 4 APR 2024

Sean Kauffmann, who leads the Tennessee Active Club, was booked into the Perry County Jail

Sean Kauffmann, a neo-Nazi and violent white supremacist whose harassment of LGBTQ+ people and journalists has been highlighted by Raw Story, faces charges for aggravated assault and child abuse following a report that he punched the mother of his infant son in the head.

A sheriff’s deputy in Perry County, Tenn., was dispatched to Kauffmann’s home in Linden, Tenn., at about 8:09 p.m. on March 22, according to a police report obtained by Raw Story.

Kauffmann’s partner, whose name is redacted in the report, told the deputy that Kauffmann “assaulted her by punching her numerous times in the face and head, while she was holding their infant son.”

The report goes on to say that Kauffmann’s partner “had bruising above both her eyes and swelling on her left jaw, and around both her eyes,” that she was “bleeding from the mouth and ears,” and “had a broken tooth, which was about to fall out.”

The woman also reportedly told the deputy she was several weeks pregnant and that Kauffmann told her he was going to kill her.

The report also quotes the woman as saying that Kauffmann, who is listed at 6 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighing 225 pounds, grabbed the infant by the clothing and tried to pull him from his mother’s arms, causing bruising on the child’s head and a red mark on his arm.

Kauffmann was held in the Perry County Jail from March 22 through March 26, and released on a bond for $15,000 for aggravated assault and $10,000 for child abuse, according to police records.

He is scheduled to appear in court before Judge Katerina Moore on Thursday to face charges of child abuse/neglect/endangerment for a child eight years old or younger, and aggravated assault-domestic.

Kauffmann could not be reached for comment for this story.

The Telegram channel for Tennessee Active Club, the neo-Nazi group led by Kauffmann, went dark on March 26, the day he bonded out of jail. A new channel for Kauffmann’s group reemerged on Telegram on March 30, but does not include any content.

History of Violence

Under Kauffmann's leadership, Tennessee Active Club has served as a hub for neo-Nazi organizing and harassment of LGBTQ+ people and other perceived enemies.

In 2021, Kauffmann was convicted of two counts of domestic assault in Perry County in November 2021, according to local court records.

According to an incident report filed in the case, an investigator observed red and purple marks on the neck of the victim — a different woman — and she told him he strangled her and she could not breathe. The investigator reportedly observed a knot on her forehead, black eye, swollen lip and swollen nose.

Following Kauffmann’s arrest in the 2021 case, according to the report, deputies obtained a court order to seize all the firearms from his house.

Moore, whom Kauffmann will again face on Thursday, also granted a protective order to the victim.

* * * Editor’s note: Kauffmann was among five neo-Nazis who demonstrated in front of Raw Story reporter Jordan Green’s home in Greensboro, N.C. in February. Flanked by four men holding lit emergency flares, Kauffmann held a handwritten sign warning of “consequences.”

Kauffmann suggested in a post on the encrypted social media app Telegram that he held Green responsible, at least in part, for his ongoing legal troubles.

“We can’t wait for everyone to see how our activities have helped build a case for a far greater exposé of the people orchestrating antifa and these journalists,” he wrote in the post, referencing the demonstration. “Specifically to me how this will impact all of my legal situations helping me win decisive victories! It’s the only thing that’s helped keep pushing me as hard as it’s gotten!”

The post was made in a Telegram channel run by Kauffmann’s partner, who is the alleged victim in the aggravated assault case.
