The Grim Story Of The 1945 NAZIS Death March | Forced March To Freedom
Timeline 5.FEB. 2022. At the end of the Second World War, ten thousand prisoners of war anticipated liberation courtesy of the advancing Russian Red Army. The Nazis dashed these hopes. They forced the prisoners to march out of Stalag Luft III in the dead of winter toward the centre of a collapsing Third Reich in order to keep the P.O.W.’s as hostages. ‘ Forced March to Freedom’ tells the story of this amazing test of endurance through the eyes of Robert Buckham of West Vancouver, a bomber pilot and artist who produced countless sketches and water-colours of prison camp life, as well as one of the only chronicles of the forced march itself. For some, it was a march to freedom, for others, a fatal walk into an icy death. The forced march of 10,000 allied airmen at the end of World War Two is one of the most dramatic untold stories of the war. And now, near the end of their own lives, it’s a story that the lucky men who survived the march are finally ready to tell. ‘Forced March to Freedom’ is a visually stunning film, not only featuring these emotional interviews but showcasing Buckham’s art as well as having unique access to the few photos that capture this dramatic event.

The Neo-Nazi Brigade Killing Russian Generals
Inside Azov, the neo-Nazi brigade killing Russian generals and playing a PR game in the Ukraine war The Telegraph UK 19 MAR 2022 ![]() While most of Ukraine’s armed forces have been quietly engaged in the grind of a gruelling tug-of-war with Russia, one battalion has been busy putting out slick videos and images trumpeting its own achievements. In a photograph released this week, a burly man in dark-blue uniform lies unconscious on the snow-covered ground, his right side caked in blood. “Azov has eliminated a major general! And by thy sword shalt thou live!” reads the caption. The unnamed officer was reportedly the fourth Russian general to have been killed in Ukraine. His killers? The extreme right-wing Azov Battalion. A long-time darling of Kremlin propaganda attempts to smear all Ukrainians as neo-Nazis, the unit has recently been making headlines once again after Moscow claimed that it staged a false flag operation to blow up a theatre full of civilians in the besieged city of Mariupol. The truth was more mundane: yet more Russian shelling. But Azov has been active in the last month. In particular, its well-oiled PR machine has been producing Ukraine’s arguably best-quality war videos with camera drones perfectly capturing the attacks as they happened in real time. Ukraine’s armed forces have happily used Azov’s videos as visual proof of the country’s counter-attacks on the invading army. Russian tanks were seen blown up in pieces, spurting plumes of smoke as aerial footage showed the attacks with a video-game-like precision. Azov rose to prominence at the start of the separatist insurgency in Ukraine in 2014. It never held much sway in Ukraine’s politics but videos of its occasional torch-lit marches have helped to feed the false Kremlin narrative of Ukrainians being neo-Nazis. Ukraine’s crumbling armed forces were taken by surprise in spring 2014 when Russian-backed separatists began to take over swaths of Ukraine’s industrial heartland in the east. As Ukraine’s regular troops were woefully unprepared to wage a war, citizens of all stripes took up arms and travelled to the east. Azov Battalion was one of the several volunteer forces that took the job of fighting the separatists that the army seemingly did not want to do. Months later, prominent rights advocacies such as Human Rights Watch reported “credible allegations of torture and other egregious abuses” by Azov and other volunteer batallions. Several members of other volunteer battalions have been tried and convicted of rights abuse during their time in the east but no one from Azov was reportedly convicted. Azov was founded by Andriy Biletsky, an ultra-nationalist political figure who had had run-ins with the law and had been involved in various groups that toyed with Nazi symbols. The batallion that attracted football ultras and far-right activists made no secret of its roots by adopting the Nazi Wolfsangel as its emblem, saying that it views it as a stylised version of the letters N and I standing for “national idea.” The 44-year old activist won a seat in parliament as an independent candidate in the autumn of 2014, clearly capitalising on his battalion’s success in fighting the separatists, but he was not re-elected five years later. Azov, which takes its name from the Azov Sea, first joined the fight against separatists around the city of Mariupol and has been based there since then. The battalion has enjoyed patronage of Ukraine’s controversial minister Arsen Avakov and several Ukrainian oligarchs, some of them of Jewish descent, who appear to have put aside their qualms about the group’s ideology for the sake of securing Ukrainian sovereignty in south-eastern Ukraine. Mr Biletsky, also known as the White Leader, has run a fully fledged social media operation since the start of the conflict in 2014, flooding the internet with images of his troops marching the streets with lit torches. A native Russian speaker born in the predominantly Russian-speaking city of Kharkiv, Mr Biletsky refused to identify himself as a neo-Nazi instead preferring to call himself a Ukrainian nationalist – but some of his public statements speak for themselves. In his arguably most quoted interview he spoke about Ukraine’s “historic mission in this century to lead white peoples of the world on their last Crusade against Jew-led Untermensch”. In recent years Azov has produced perfect content for Russian state television, putting a face to the Kremlin’s claims about the rise of the far-right in Ukraine, where recent presidents and prime ministers have all been regular centrist politicians. Azov fighters in the east happily rolled back their sleeves to show Nazi tattoos to foreign correspondents while Mr Biletsky’s team were announcing the creation of local militia forces to deal with issues in big cities. In 2018, the battalion put out a slickly produced video showing hundreds of young men in fatigues marching in formation to a torch-lit fortress in Kyiv. They swore an oath on camera to “clean” the streets of illegal alcohol, drug dealings and gambling establishments. Nothing came out of the idea but the image was there, putting Volodymyr Zelensky, a Russian-speaking comedian with Jewish heritage, and his predecessor in a tight spot. “The far-right in general, and their apparent impunity have significantly damaged Ukraine’s international reputation and left the country vulnerable to hostile narratives exaggerating the role of extremist groups in Ukraine,” Oleskiy Kuzmenko wrote in a piece for the Atlantic Council, adding that its recent ties with white supremacists in the West reinforced the concern. Bellingcat, an investigative journalist group, as well as Ukrainian media over the years, traced ties between Azov, its political arm National Corps, and American white supremacist groups. A 2019 report by the New York-based Soufan Centre said more than 17,000 people from 50 countries had travelled to Ukraine since the start of the conflict to join Azov and other battalions to fight pro-Kremlin separatists. In 2016, Azov sought to distance itself from the National Corps after its first commander left the battalion to pursue politics. Mr Biletsky, however, still attends Azov events and occasionally uses the Azov troops to put pressure on Ukrainian authorities to ditch the idea of any form of compromise with Russia. Just a few months after the invasion, Azov veterans marched across central Kyiv to President Zelensky’s office. They were stopped by a police cordon nearby where they set on fire effigies of “traitors”. The National Corps never ran for national elections but its candidates have shown dismal performance at local elections in a clear sign of just how far Azov’s ideology is from concerns of ordinary Ukrainians who have for years viewed them as a marginal, selfie-happy group. Edward VIII Helped Nazis Invade France by Revealing Defence Weak Spots to Known Collaborator
Edward VIII told Nazis to keep bombing England and passed information to Germany during WWII, new documentary claims Claims are revealed in Channel 4 documentary Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King Edward is said to have encouraged the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission He then wanted to be re-installed as King of a puppet state in Britain New documentary, which airs on Sunday, is based on book by Andrew Lownie Daily Mail UK.25 MAR 2022 Edward VIII encouraged the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission in World War Two and crown him as King. The former king, who abdicated in 1936 to marry the divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson, also passed information to Germany that aided the fall of France in 1940, according to a new documentary. The programme, Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King, will air on Channel 4 on March 27 and is based on the work of historian Andrew Lownie. It uses evidence such as captured German documents that are held in the Royal Archives to support the claims. The damning allegations come after years of academic research into how close to the Nazis the Duke of Windsor was and the effect of his friendships on the war. The documentary details how the Duke gave information on weaknesses in the French military to a Nazi informant, according to the Daily Telegraph. ![]() Edward VIII encouraged the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission in World War Two and crown him as King. The reports were ignored by British officials but captured German diplomatic cables showed that Edward then gave the information to his close friend, Nazi informant Charles Bedaux. The subsequent German invasion of France targeted the weaknesses Edward had identified. During the invasion, Edward and Mrs Simpson fled to Lisbon, Portugal where they socialised with German agents and sympathisers. ![]() The former king, who abdicated in 1936 to marry the divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson , also passed information to Germany that aided the fall of France in 1940, according to a new documentary ![]() In another captured diplomatic cable from the German ambassador to Portuguese authorities, the Duke is said to have told representatives of Francoist Spain that 'continued severe bombing would make England ready for peace'. Then-Prime Minister Winston Churchill removed the Duke from Europe, making him the Governor of the Bahamas. While travelling there, Edward sent a coded telegram to a Nazi associate saying he was willing to return to Europe. Dr Lownie argues that this indicates Edward was aware of Operation Willie, the German plan to put the Duke back on the throne as the head of a puppet state. ![]() In 1937, Edward and Wallis, met Hitler and his officials during a tour of Germany. The documents used by Dr Lownie as evidence have been in the Royal Archives for decades but a recent policy change allowed greater access for researchers with new documents emerging. In 1937, Edward and Wallis, met Hitler and his officials during a tour of Germany. Whilst there, Edward was infamously photographed giving a Nazi salute and later also toured industrial facilities and even a concentration camp, whose guard towers were said to have been explained to him as meat stores. The former king was reported to have said as late as 1941 that Hitler was the 'right and logical leader of the German people'. The World Remembers the Heroes Who Saved us From Hitler:
-US and Europe Mark the 70th Anniversary of VE Day
Sombre ceremonies have been held across Europe today to mark the anniversary of VE Day. World leaders came together to mark 70 years since victory over Nazi Germany, laying beautiful wreaths in memory of those who were lost - believed to be up to 60million people. Over the next three days officials will continue to honour and thank entire wartime generations with a spectacular series of events. It comes as French President Francois Hollande took the opportunity to warn of modern day threats such as the war in Ukraine and Islamic extremism. He said: 'We didn't experience the war, we see it as a far-off reality, sometimes abstract, even though it is not so far from us, in Ukraine, further still in the Middle East.' He also referred to the hundreds of French citizens who have gone to fight alongside jihadists in Syria and Iraq. 'There is also terrorism which can strike us, racism, anti-Semitism. There are still causes which should spur us on', he said. Jean Ruiz, witnessing the ceremony on the Champs Elysees avenue, said: 'I think in the wake of what happened in January we must come together, find common ground.' 'There are memories which must not be forgotten,' his wife Mireille added. ![]() ![]() U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry lays a wreath made of purple, red and white flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris ![]() 'We didn't experience the war, we see it as a far-off reality, sometimes abstract, even though it is not so far from us, in Ukraine, further still in the Middle East,' Hollande said before laying a wreath ![]() The tomb of the unknown soldier, where Mr Hollande laid his wreath, marks the sacrifice of an unknown French soldier who gave his life during World War I ![]() Dozens of wreaths made of red, blue and white flowers - to match the French flag - were laid with ribbons by officials earlier this morning US President Barack Obama also marked the anniversary, expressing solidarity with Europe and hailing the victorious Allied troops as a 'generation that literally saved the world'. 'For over five years, brutal fighting laid waste to an entire continent. Mothers, fathers, children were murdered in concentration camps. By the time the guns fell silent in Europe, some 40 million people on the continent had lost their lives,' Obama said in a radio address. In Washington DC, 56 restored American 'warbirds' that helped the Allies achieve victory in the war, will roar over the city later Friday as up to 10,000 people look on. Mr Kerry, whose mother was born in France, also laid a wreath under the Arc de Triomphe as the anniversary coincided with a visit to Paris. We Shall Remember Them: 70 Years After VE Day Marked The End of World War Two, -Veterans Lead Silent Tribute to Their Fallen Comrades
Veterans led the nation in a silent tribute remembering the sacrifices made to win the Second World War on the 70th anniversary of VE Day. Seven decades after the country broke out in jubilant celebration at the end of the Second World War, more than 100 former servicemen and women watched as the Duke of York, representing the Queen, joined politicians and military leaders to lay wreaths in Whitehall. The tribute at the Cenotaph started three days of festivities to mark the anniversary of the announcement that Germany had offered the unconditional surrender to the Allies bringing about the end of the war in Europe. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon also laid a wreath, and defence secretary Philip Hammond and newly elected MP Boris Johnson also attended. Among the veterans, who sat huddled with their families under umbrellas as rain pattered gently down, were six Chelsea Pensioners, their bright red overcoats providing a splash of colour under the grey sky. An excerpt from Churchill's famous speech was also be read by his great-grandson, Randolph Churchill. The service, which included readings, hymns and a blessing, was led by the Bishop to the Armed Forces the Right Reverend Nigel Stock, and featured music from the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields. The Trumpeters of the Royal Air Force sounded The Rouse before the national anthem ended the service. As the veterans and standard bearers from the Royal British Legion left to make their way up Whitehall for a reception at the Foreign Office, the flag-waving crowds - six deep in some places - broke out into a chorus of three cheers and applause, thanking them for their service so many years ago. This evening, a chain of up to 250 beacons will be lit across the UK as 'flames of peace', the chain of light stretching from the Tower of London to Blackpool Tower and the community of Unst, the most northerly populated island in the British Isles, as well as to Britain's Overseas Territories Seventy years after she sneaked out of Buckingham Palace to dance through London's Ritz Hotel with people celebrating the end of the war, the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will light the first beacon at the top of the Long Walk at Windsor Castle at 9.30pm, before others are lit across the land minutes later. The celebrations will continue over the weekend, starting with a 'thunderclap' of noise at 11am tomorrow, when church and cathedral bells throughout the country ring out in celebration. The coastguard and the Port of London Authority are also being asked to make their own noise to replicate the thunderous sounds of celebration 70 years ago. Quote: THIS IS YOUR VICTORY: WINSTON CHURCHILL'S RADIO BROADCAST ANNOUNCING THE SURRENDER OF GERMANY ![]() 'Yesterday morning at 2.41am at General Eisenhower's headquarters, General Jodl, the representative of the German High Command, and Grand Admiral Doenitz, the designated head of the German State, signed the act of unconditional surrender of all German land, sea, and air forces in Europe to the Allied Expeditionary Force, and simultaneously to the Soviet High Command. 'General Bedell Smith, Chief of Staff of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General Francois Sevez signed the document on behalf of the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General Susloparov signed on behalf of the Russian High Command. 'Today this agreement will be ratified and confirmed at Berlin, where Air Chief Marshal Tedder, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, and General de Lattre de Tassigny will sign on behalf of General Eisenhower. Marshal Zhukov will sign on behalf of the Soviet High Command. The German representatives will be Field Marshal Keitel, Chief of the High Command, and the commanders-in-chief of the German army, navy, and air forces. 'Hostilities will end officially at one minute after midnight tonight (Tuesday, May 8), but in the interests of saving lives the 'ceasefire' began yesterday to be sounded all along the front, and our dear Channel Islands are also to be freed today. 'The Germans are still in places resisting the Russian troops, but should they continue to do so after midnight they will, of course, deprive themselves of the protection of the laws of war, and will be attacked from all quarters by the Allied troops. It is not surprising that on such long fronts and in the existing disorder of the enemy the orders of the German High Command should not in every case be obeyed immediately. 'This does not, in our opinion, with the best military advice at our disposal, constitute any reason for withholding from the nation the facts communicated to us by General Eisenhower of the unconditional surrender already signed at Rheims, nor should it prevent us from celebrating today and tomorrow (Wednesday) as Victory in Europe days. 'Today, perhaps, we shall think mostly of ourselves. Tomorrow we shall pay a particular tribute to our Russian comrades, whose prowess in the field has been one of the grand contributions to the general victory. 'The German war is therefore at an end. After years of intense preparation, Germany hurled herself on Poland at the beginning of September, 1939; and, in pursuance of our guarantee to Poland and in agreement with the French Republic, Great Britain, the British Empire and Commonwealth of Nations, declared war upon this foul aggression. 'After gallant France had been struck down we, from this island and from our united empire, maintained the struggle single-handed for a whole year until we were joined by the military might of Soviet Russia, and later by the resources of the United States of America. 'Finally almost the whole world was combined against the evil-doers, who are now prostrate before us. Our gratitude to our splendid Allies goes forth from all our hearts in this island and throughout the British Empire. 'We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing; but let us not forget for a moment the toil and efforts that lie ahead. Japan, with all her treachery and greed, remains unsubdued. The injury she has inflicted on Great Britain, the United States, and other countries, and her detestable cruelties, call for justice and retribution. The BRUTAL Execution Of Hitlers' Nephew -Heinz Hitler
16 May 2022 TheUntoldPast As World War Two exploded on the Eastern Front as Hitler and his Wehrmacht invaded the Soviet Union, some of the fighting was the most ferocious and deadly of the whole of the Second World War. During battles such as Stalingrad, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were killed on both sides, but there was one young soldier who was fighting during The Battle of Moscow. But this young soldier had a very close link to the Dictator of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler. Heinz Hitler was the favourite nephew of Hitler, and he was considered by the Dictator as the ideal aryan. He was educated at a ardent Nazi school which was very exclusive and prepared him for being a future Nazi leader. But Heinz Hitler joined the Wehrmacht, and he was determined to fight in the Second World War for his uncle's cause. He wished to please his uncle Adolf, and he saw service on the Eastern Front in 1941. However during a mission, he was captured by the Soviet Red Army and his identity was confirmed, and the Soviet's believed the capture of Hitler's nephew was a huge coup for them. Hitler was outraged and greatly upset by his nephew's capture, and even offered a prisoner swap for Heinz' safe return. He offered Joseph Stalin a swap, Heinz Hitler for Yakov Dzhugashvili, Stalin's own son who had been captured. But Stalin rejected this as he was outraged by his own son's surrender to his enemy. Heinz Hitler was imprisoned inside of the Butyrka Prison in Moscow, and was considered a VIP prisoner. However he was a man who had intricate knowledge of the Nazi dictator, and was tortured for information a lot over the cause of a month. He was tortured brutally, and was even tortured to death because of how he was treated by the Soviet interrogators. With this, it was inside of the terrible Moscow prison, that Heinz Hitler was killed in 1942. It's believed that Adolf Hitler was greatly upset by the death of his nephew.

The COMPELLING Execution Of Geli Raubal - Hitler's Niece
During the Second World War and inside of Nazi Germany, there were a huge number of executions carried out by the Wehrmacht under Hitler's command. 22 May 2022 UntoldPast His reign over Germany was very brutal, but much about the Dictator is unknown or remains mysterious today. This includes a relationship he had with his niece before he came into power. Geli Raubal was Adolf Hitler's half niece, but at the age of 23 inside of Hitler's apartment in Munich she would be found dead with Hitler's pistol being the weapon used to take her life. Geli Raubal had an intimate relationship with Hitler, and Hitler was besotted with her however he was incredibly controlling over his niece and he would not let her see any of her friends. She was kept practically under house arrest, and she was scared of her uncle. However she did have an affair with Hitler driver which caused him great anger. But Geli Raubal dreamed of heading to Vienna to continue singing lessons, but some believed she was running away from Hitler's clutches to marry another man. However Hitler refused to allow her to leave, but in 1931 inside of Hitler's apartment in Munich a gunshot was heard. Hours later Geli Raubal was found with a gunshot, and the media went into overdrive as it was claimed a huge argument was heard shortly before between Raubal and Hitler. Accusations were fired accusing Hitler of murdering or arranging the murder/execution of his niece. Senior Nazi figures believed that she knew too much and was dangerous, and it was even claimed that they had her killed. But much of Geli Raubal's demise and death today is considered a mystery.

The DISGUSTING Crimes Of Herta Oberheuser - The Evil Doctor Of Ravensbruck
7 Jun 2022 TheUntoldPast During the Second World War, there were huge networks of concentration camps where evil guards worked and inflicted horrific acts of brutality. After the war, a number of war crimes trials took place that sentenced former guards, doctors and other members of staff to death with them being executed for crimes against humanity. But there were many other former members of staff that were sentenced to time in prison and also never faced trial. Herta Oberheuser was a former doctor who worked at Ravensbruck Concentration Camp and she was known particularly for her brutality and savagery. Herta Oberheuser inside of Ravensbruck worked with Heinrich Himmler's doctor Karl Gebhardt and they would carry out horrendous experiments. Many of their experiments resulted in prisoners having their legs broken forcibly and then also having their wounds infected with glass and wood. Oberheuser was part of this, and she did not give any care to the prisoners and even would give them vinegar to drink when they asked for water. She also refused to administer pain relief, and her actions resulted in great suffering and pain and even death and execution. After the Second World War, she would be placed on trial at the Nuremberg Doctors Trial, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. However she only served 7 and even tried to practice medicine again after the war!

The HORRIFIC Torture Of The Prisoners Of Buchenwald
Throughout the Second World War, there were many concentration camps used by the Third Reich to inflict suffering onto prisoners. 12 Aug 2022 TheUntoldPast ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The day Buchenwald was liberated One of the largest camps was Buchenwald, and it's estimated that over 55,000 prisoners were killed there and never made it out of the barbed wire fences. It housed around 280,000 prisoners throughout it's time in operation from 1937 to 1945. But inside the camp, there were many guards who were notorious for their brutal punishment of prisoners and executions were carried out on a daily basis. There was a special execution block at Buchenwald where 8000 Soviet prisoners were killed inside of, and the conditions at the camp were truly awful. Prisoners were expected to work until they died, and if they did not work hard enough they were punished, tortured or killed. There was not enough food to go around, and many prisoners suffered from starvation and also diseases such as typhus which ran rampant at Buchenwald. The camp was liberated by the Americans, and in the post war trials a number of former guards were sentenced to death for their war crimes. Also the commandant Karl-Otto Koch was executed at the camp, and his wife Ilse Koch became known as 'The Witch of Buchenwald.'

MI5 Bungle During Covid Revealed Churchill Was IN on 'Valkyrie' Plot to Kill Hitler
Spooks dumped piles of top secret wartime files on the internet during pandemic lockdowns covering the attempt by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg to blow up the dictator BBC 6 DEC 2022 ![]() An MI5 bungle during Covid sensationally revealed that Winston Churchill was in on the Valkyrie plot to kill Hitler. The spooks dumped piles of top secret wartime files on the internet during pandemic lockdowns covering the attempt by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg to blow up the dictator. But Security Service weeders charged with sifting out sensitive documents belonging to sister spy agency MI6 missed the ones which contained the 78 year old bombshell secret. Now MI6 chief Richard Moore - known as C - is being pressed to come clean over the Secret Intelligence Service’s part in the 20 July 1944 attempt on Hitler’s life so historians can put the record straight. The UK has always denied being involved in the plot which featured in the 2008 Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie insisting it was solely the work of disaffected German officers. But one of the plotters managed to get away. He was the 45 year old Lufthansa lawyer Otto John who squirrelled his way out of Berlin on the flight deck of one of his airliners bound for Madrid four days after the explosion. ![]() Lufthansa lawyer Dr. Otto John He made his way to Portugal and was exfiltrated from capital Lisbon by MI6 and whisked to Britain. What the files accidentally reveal is that he had been recruited as an agent by MI6 two years before the attempt on Hitler’s life under the codename Whisky. And met his handlers 12 times in the lead up to the blast. Britain’s top espionage expert, the former Tory MP Rupert Allason who writes under the name Nigel West, said: “This is of enormous historical importance. “It means John was a British SIS agent and no mere plotter. It also means emphatically that Churchill knew about the plot and gave it his approval.” Churchill was briefed daily during the war by No 10’s SIS liaison Major - later Sir - Desmond Morton. ![]() Wilhelm Keitel, Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler and Martin Bormann Mr Allason said: “It is inconceivable that something of this magnitude was not discussed at those meetings. And to go ahead it would have needed the the PM’s political sanction. “History must now be rewritten. That is why I have approached C to ask him to release other files to put all this into context. “Richard Moore says he wants more openness and transparency in his service and this would be the perfect way to prove he means it.” Stauffenberg planted a suitcase bomb in Hitler’s Wolf’s Lair HQ in east Prussia. The deadly plan went wrong when the case was moved behind a thick table leg which shielded Hitler from the blast. The explosion killed four people but the Nazi dictator escaped with just a perforated eardrum and his trousers burned and shredded. Witnesses said Hitler was more concerned about his ruined trews than the officers who had died. ![]() Inspection of the destroyed barracks in the "Wolfsschanze" headquarters Had von Stauffenberg’s assassination plot succeeded he planned a miliary coup to take over Germany, restore the monarchy, and end the war by making peace with the Allies. British-made explosives and triggers were used but at the time they were believed to have come from a cache dropped to Special Operations Executive saboteurs and captured by the Germans. John’s role as the intermediary between the plotters and British spymasters was contained in declassified MI5 files which had lain unread in the National Archives since 2007. The foreign spy agency MI6 does not release its secret files to National Archives so the identities of agents is protected even after they are dead. John does not even appear in the SIS official history. When Covid struck the Public Records Office in Kew, west London which holds the archives pulled down the shutters and put files which previously cost £3.50 each to download on the internet for free. Mr Allason said: “The cost of downloading thousands of files is prohibitive but being able to do so without paying was a boon to researchers. “I had nothing to do during Covid so I began going through them. That’s when I made this extraordinary discovery. “The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end when I found this because it was so momentous.” The revelation is now detailed in the new book Hitler’s Trojan Horse by Nigel West. He added: “At the time SIS did not use letterheads for their correspondence so their documents were released with the MI5 files when they shouldn’t have been. “You have to know what you are looking for to spot them. And that’s why the weeders missed them.” One document confirms that John was “an SIS agent for two years and whom the Germans are hotly pursuing on the footing that he was party to the attempt on Hitler’s life.” It was written by senior MI5 officer Herbert Hart who was in charge of the Ultra decrypts masterminded by computer wizard Alan Turing at Bletchley Park’s secret listening post. It took months of preparation to get the bomb inside the conference room where Hitler was meeting with aides. Once placed Stauffenberg made an excuse to leave the room. But after the failed attempt Stauffenberg and other conspirators were quickly rounded up and shot in the courtyard of the Bendlerblock, the army HQ in Berlin. Others were hanged with piano wire in the Gestapo’s Ploetzensee prison. Cruise wears an eye patch to play von Stauffenberg in the Valkyrie movie. In 1941 the colonel lost his left eye, right hand, and two fingers on his left hand while fighting for the Afrika Korps in Tunisia. The Nazis discovered John’s involvement in the plot after he fled to Spain and executed his Berlin University law professor brother, Hans, instead. One top secret report from the bundles MI5 released says: “John has always been anti-Nazi. He and his brother had parted ways with many of their schoolmates and later from their student friends on this matter.” Hans John was not the only innocent victim in the plot’s fallout. The Gestapo executed 5,000 people of the 7,000 they arrested. John continued working for British intelligence interrogating captured German spies and playing a key role in the Political Warfare Executive which broadcast propaganda to a collapsing Germany. But Mr Allason suspects there was another reason John’s MI6 activities had to be kept quiet. Six years after the 20 July plot John became head of the West German counter-intelligence service BfV, their equivalent of MI5. Mr Allason added: “That meant an MI6 asset was in charge of a European spy agency on the frontline of the Cold War. “The intelligence he could have provided to the British without West Germany’s knowledge would have been priceless.” But after a ceremony on 20 July 1954 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Valkyrie plot John disappeared and turned up in East Germany three days later. The West Germans thought he had defected. But he ended up in the hands of the Soviet KGB and for the next 18 months spoke out against the West from his new East German home before slipping back into West Berlin where he was immediately arrested. He protested that the KGB had kidnapped him but was sentenced to four years jail for treason. He complained that the judges who convicted him were former Nazis bent on revenge. John died in an Innsbruck sanitorium in 1997 after years of trying to prove his innocence. He claimed his statements against the West were made only to ensure his safety in the East. A fifth and final attempt to get the case reopened a year before his death was turned down by a German court. The British were unable to help because to do so would have meant admitting that MI6 had been running John all along. Even East German spymaster Markus Wolf - the model for spy novelist John Le Carre’s cunning Karla - said John had been drugged and abducted to the East in a KGB op. But what really happened remains one of the enduring mysteries of the Cold War. Mr Allason said: “In my view John had some kind of breakdown at that ceremony. “Germans were not keen to celebrate the plot and still regarded it as treachery against the Führer. “That was too much for John to cope with after everything he had been through.”

Secretary to SS Commander of Stutthof Concentration Camp Convicted
Holocaust survivor rebukes former concentration camp worker's court defence A Holocaust survivor has said it is an "impossibility" that a former concentration camp secretary did not know of the atrocities that were committed there during World War II. BBC News 21 DEC 2022. ![]() Irmgard Furchner: Nazi typist guilty of complicity in 10,500 murders ![]() Survivor and co-plaintiff Manfred Goldberg returned to Stutthof in 2017 with the Prince and Princess of Wales On Tuesday, Irmgard Furchner, who was the secretary to the SS commander of the Stutthof concentration camp in NAZI-occupied Poland during World War II, was handed a two-year suspended sentence at the Itzehoe state court in northern Germany. She was found guilty of being an accessory to the murder of more than 10,000 people and alleged to have "aided and abetted those in charge of the camp in the systematic killing of those imprisoned there between June 1943 and April 1945 in her function as a stenographer and typist in the camp commandant’s office". During the trial Furchner’s defence lawyers had asked for her to be acquitted, claiming the evidence hadn’t shown beyond doubt that she knew about the systematic killings at the camp, meaning there was no proof of intent as required for criminal liability.

What Was a NAZI Spy Really Doing in The Donegal Gaeltacht Ahead of WWII?
The TG4 documentary "NAZI sa Ghaeltacht" investigates what Dr. Ludwig Mühlhausen, a NAZI party member and German linguist, was really doing in the Donegal Gaeltacht ahead of World War II. Irish Central 24 DEC 2022. ![]() While it might sound like a fictional tale of wartime intrigue, veteran investigative journalist Kevin Magee uncovers the real double life of Irish language scholar Dr. Ludwig Mühlhausen. ![]() Kevin Magee at the Reichstag building in Berlin, Germany In "Nazi sa Ghaeltacht," to be featured on Ireland's TG4 on June 22 at 9:30 pm, Magee investigates what Mühlhausen, a Nazi party member and German linguist, was really doing in the Donegal Gaeltacht in 1937 in the run-up to the Second World War. In the one-hour documentary, made by Macha Media with support from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, Magee follows Mühlhausen’s journey - ostensibly in the Gaeltacht to collect folklore but secretly gathering information that would be exploited by the Third Reich. Professor Mühlhausen perfected his knowledge of the Irish language in the tiny Irish-speaking hamlet of Teileann and used it to broadcast German propaganda into Ireland during World War Two. In a remarkable journey, Magee traces the professor’s footsteps back to Berlin and reveals the shocking truth about the German scholar who became the Gaelic Lord Haw Haw and a decorated SS officer. Magee had heard stories of a Nazi spy who operated in Teileann in South Donegal ever since he himself started visiting the area over 40 years ago. Like Magee, Mühlhausen had also gone there to perfect his Irish, but the locals were always suspicious of the German’s real reasons for visiting. Mühlhausen made no secret of the fact he was a committed Nazi and openly expressed his despair at how the locals weren’t enterprising, lacked German efficiency, and didn’t exploit the land and sea around them as he thought they should. Magee said: “I wanted to find out if the story of the Nazi in the Gaeltacht was true, so I began investigating, talking to locals, asking questions, and examining a whole variety of sources. Piece by piece I was able to pull this remarkable story together. "When I began my journey, I had no idea I would discover just how committed Mühlhausen was to the entire Nazi project. The plot reads like a World War Two thriller, except this story is for real. "One of the first things he did in Teileann after he’d found somewhere to stay was hang a large picture of Hitler on his bedroom wall. He took photographs everywhere he went and measured the depth of Teileann Bay by dropping lead weights into the tide. Locals later speculated he was scouting the place out as a potential landing site for Nazi U-boats.” Two years after his visit, the same local people who had facilitated his stay in Teileann were amazed to hear him broadcasting Nazi propaganda in Irish from a radio station in Berlin, urging the Irish to keep their neutrality and reminding them of atrocities the English had carried out in Ireland. In this hour-long documentary, Magee brings a previously untold piece of Donegal history to life by hearing from historians, local people in Teileann, and military experts. He begins his journey at the Slieve League cliffs in Donegal and travels to the Military Archives in Dublin where he uncovers a secret file the Irish intelligence service compiled on Mühlhausen during the war. From there, the trail takes him to Berlin where he uncovers previously unseen documents that reveal the German’s efforts to shape a Nazi plan for Ireland. The deeper Magee gets into the investigation, the more extraordinary and sinister the story becomes. Even at the end, with the Nazis defeated and Mühlhausen in a prisoner of war camp, he made one last desperate plea for help. NAZI Monument at Swiss Cemetery Sparks Controversy
For decades the huge monolithic block of granite in the middle of the cemetery in the Swiss town of Chur was ignored by passers-by; no one seemed to know quite what it was. BBC 2 APR 2023 ![]() ![]() The granite monument at the cemetery in the centre of the Swiss town of Chur The origins of the monument and its links to the Nazi presence in Switzerland were unknown Questions have been raised over what to do with the large granite monument at the Swiss cemetery But the 13-tonne stone monument that dwarfs the nearby gravestones is now causing controversy - and embarrassment. Research by a local journalist has revealed links to Nazi Germany, and to neutral Switzerland's own awkward relations with its World War Two neighbours. Chur's cemetery is in the centre of town. Many people, like radio journalist Stefanie Hablützel, pass it every day on the way to work or out shopping. Nowadays the monument at the cemetery, untended, is covered in moss. The engravings on it are difficult to discern. "At first sight it looks like a war memorial," says Stefanie, pointing out some faint lettering: "1914 - 1918; hier ruhen deutsche Soldaten… here lie German soldiers." Why, though, would German soldiers be buried here? In fact, thousands of wounded prisoners of war, French and British as well as German, were treated and interned in Switzerland during World War One. Some died from their injuries, others during the 1918 flu pandemic. But Chur's monument was not built until 1938. "That's 20 years after these men died," says Stefanie. "It wasn't built to mourn these dead soldiers, it was built for propaganda reasons, for the Nazi regime." Swiss historian, Martin Bucher, explains that, as the Nazis grew in power in Germany, their propaganda involved cult-like worship of their war dead. In the 1930s the German War Graves Commission became part of Hitler's propaganda machine. Its task, to create visible signs of Nazi power in Germany's neighbours as well as at home. There were many thousands of Germans living in Switzerland at the time, and, Martin says, they were organised. "In Switzerland all these organisations you know from Germany existed. The National Socialist Party, the German Labour Front, the Hitler Youth. They were all here, but only for Germans, not for Swiss people." Germany's War Graves Commission submitted ambitious plans to build a vast mausoleum in the Swiss town of St Gallen. This was rejected by Swiss authorities. But the monument in Chur was approved. Polished and engraved in Munich, using the Nazis favourite Fraktur font, it was delivered to Chur on the eve of World War Two. At the time, says Martin, Chur's residents must have known what it was. "On Nazi holidays they put Swastikas on this monument… people would have seen it was a Nazi monument." Some were clearly unhappy. Stefanie uncovered an indignant letter to the local newspaper, written in 1938, asking: "Why do we have a Nazi stone in our cemetery?" Stefanie Hablützel, a local radio journalist in Chur, Switzerland I didn't realise how many Nazi organisations were present in the 1930s, here in Chur But some will have been supportive. Swiss sympathisers of Nazi Germany were well-documented in canton Graubünden, of which Chur is the capital. But homegrown Swiss fascist parties never really took off, getting only two seats in the Swiss parliament in 1935, and never standing again. While Switzerland still has no official memorial to the Holocaust, parliament did approve plans for one in March last year. There are, however, around 50 unofficial monuments. Throughout the war, Germans in Switzerland continued to be active in the Nazi party, and continued to display their Nazi sympathies. And the Swiss, hoping as usual to stay out of the fighting, made compromises with Berlin, banking Nazi gold, and turning away Jewish refugees. Then, just one day after the war ended, neutral Switzerland got off the fence. "There was a huge purge," says Martin. "The Swiss government tried to punish Swiss Nazis, there were trials." German Nazis, meanwhile, were expelled. "I think after that a lot of people were thinking it's done now, the Nazis are away, no problem," says Martin. "And I think they forgot this monument." ![]() Historian Martin Bucher says Hitler's propaganda machine was tasked with creating visible signs of Nazi power in neighbouring countries So complete was this collective amnesia that today, among people like Stefanie, born decades after the war, the origins of the monument, and the Nazi presence in Switzerland, were a revelation. "I grew up here in Chur," she says. "And I didn't realise how many Nazi organisations were present in the 1930s, here in Chur." Even local member of parliament Jon Pult was taken by surprise. "Switzerland wasn't Nazi free, and I knew that," he says. "But I didn't know about this monument. "I live maybe 500 metres from the cemetery where this stone is, and I walked past that stone probably a hundred times, and I never realised that it is of course a Nazi stone. Now that I know it's very clear. I get it, I see it." So, what should happen now? Despite a certain embarrassment, very few people have suggested tearing down the monument. But even fewer, says Stefanie, say it should be left just as it is. Instead, consensus seems to be forming around a proposal to re-examine and publicise that period in Swiss history, just as Switzerland had to re-examine, and apologise for, its treatment of Jewish refugees during the war. "I think it should stay in Chur," says Martin, adding: "But I think it's important to tell people why it is there. Maybe it can be a monument to remember all the people who died in the Second World War." Jon Pult agrees that Switzerland should "create a memorial" out of the monument "to remember the horrific crimes of the Nazis". But also, he says, the monument, and the information he expects to be placed in the cemetery with it, should serve as a warning. "We should create a culture of knowledge about this, because as we know there is always a danger of fascist ideologies, totalitarian ideologies, as we see now for example in Russia."

Saving The Children From The Holocaust
'Holocaust, Hebrew Shoʾah, Yiddish and Hebrew Ḥurban (“Destruction”), the systematic state-sponsored killing of six million Jewish men, women, and children and millions of others by NAZI Germany and its collaborators during World War II' BBC 16 MAY 2023 ![]() Nicholas Wintons' Children: The Czech Jews rescued by 'British Schindler' Sir Nicholas Winton was a 29-year-old stockbroker who in 1939 organized trains out of Prague to secure the safe passage of 669 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia to England at the dawn of World War II. ![]() Winton set up an office in a hotel in Prague... Dubbed the "British Schindler", Sir Nicholas Winton rescued 669 children destined for Nazi concentration camps from Czechoslovakia as the outbreak of World War Two loomed. ![]() Winton and a refugee child in 1939 His death at the age of 106 came on the same day 76 years ago when the train carrying the largest number of children - 241 - departed from Prague. The reluctant hero worked to find British families willing to put up £50 to look after the boys and girls in their homes. His efforts were not publicly known for almost 50 years. More than 370 of the children he saved have never been traced and do not know the full story. 'English Schindler' Winton was reunited with rescued children on That's Life in 1988 "One day my father called my brother and me and he said, 'sit down boys, you're going on a long journey'," said John Fieldsend, now 84. Born in Germany, Mr Fieldsend's original name was Hans Heinrich Fiege. His family fled to the Czech Republic when the Nazi persecution of the Jews began, prior to the outbreak of World War Two. "As the train was leaving my mother took her wristwatch off, passed it through the window and simply said, 'remember us'." Lia Lesser, 84, now lives in Birmingham but was originally taken in by a woman who lived on the Isle of Anglesey. "We didn't know we wouldn't see our parents again," she said. "I think they must have known there was a good chance they wouldn't see us again, and they were very brave to let us go." "I never knew how my mother arranged it, she never talked about it," said Zuzana Maresova, who was born in Prague and later returned there. She said her mother gave her a book about flowers and said, "you're going to a place where these flowers grow". "That's all I knew," she said. The humanitarian goals of Winton, who was born in the Hampstead district of north London in May 1909, were helped by a 1938 Act of Parliament that permitted the entry to the UK of refugee children under the age of 17, as long as money was deposited to pay for their eventual return home. He set up an office in a hotel in Prague where he was quickly besieged by families desperate to get their children out before Nazi Germany invaded Czechoslovakia. "There was a long queue and at the end of the queue was a small office, and we got some forms to fill in," said Ruth Halova, who was born in Prague. "Within three months we got the names of foster parents who were prepared to take us in, and mine were a Mr and Mrs Jones from Birmingham." The 90-year-old added: "There was a steam engine, the old wagons were made of wooden planks. "Everybody got this label on cardboard with a piece of string with a number [on it], and then we were shoved into the carriages." ![]() Milena Grenfell-Baines (left) and Ruth Halova are two of the people Winton rescued during his mission, which is commemorated by a statue at Prague railway station Winton, who lived in Pinkneys Green in Maidenhead, until his death, worked with relief organisations to set up the Czech Kindertransport, just one of a number of initiatives attempting to rescue Jewish children from Germany and the Nazi-occupied territories. He organised a total of eight trains from Prague, with some other forms of transport also set up from Vienna. Ms Maresova said: "We were rather excited because we thought it was some kind of adventure." However, she added the image of all the parents' "pressed faces to the windows and tears running down their faces, and wondering why they're crying", had remained with her all her life. Mrs Lesser said: "The only thing I had was a pendant with a picture of Moses on one side, and on the other were the Ten Commandments, and that's the only piece of jewellery that I brought with me. "Apart from that I had a Czech storybook... I had no dolls, teddy bears or anything like that. I just had two suitcases with clothes in." ![]() Sir Nicholas Winton (bottom right, sitting down) in 1988 on That's Life when some of the people he rescued were in the audience and surprised him "The next thing I remember was being handed over to a gentleman who couldn't speak Czech," said Ms Maresova of her arrival in England. "He had a paper with all sorts of questions in English and Czech. "Whenever he wanted to ask me something he pointed: 'Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? Do you want to drink something? Do you want to use the toilet?'" Mrs Lesser said: "In the early days I corresponded with my parents and then we corresponded through the Red Cross, and then eventually the letters stopped. "I think that's when they were in Auschwitz." When the war ended she said realised they had "perished". Winton was knighted by the Queen in March 2003 Mr Fieldsend received a letter just after the war, in 1946, and said his first thought was: "Hooray, they're alive." "My mother wrote: 'When you receive this letter the war will be over... we want to say farewell to you - to our dearest possession in the world, and only for a short time were we able to keep you'," he said. The letter went on to list other members of his family who had been "taken". In the letter, his father wrote: We are going into the unknown with the hope that we shall yet see you again when God wills." Mr Fieldsend described the letter as "fantastic", adding: "What wonderful parents I had." Ms Halova was lucky to be reunited with her mother after the war and described it as "the answering of my biggest prayer". ![]() Some 9,000 victims of the Nazis are buried in the Jewish cemetery at Terezin Memorial, formerly the Theresienstadt concentration camp, in the Czech Republic In 2014, 60 Minutes met Nicholas Winton, a British stockbroker who in 1939 travelled to Czechoslovakia and saved 669 children from the Holocaust, by DECEPTION and FRAUD.

Neo-NAZI Group Caught Plotting Sickening Aryan Revolution -Using Lone-Wolf Terror Attacks During a Secret Meeting in a UK Lake District Village Hall
The New British Union (NBU) Caught Planning Lone Wolf Tactics at Meeting BBC 10 JUNE 2023 ![]() The NBU, which claims to have thousands of members, features Nazi insignia on its website and glorifies Oswald Mosley ![]() Retired maths teacher Clive Jones, 67, right, addresses the ragtag meeting alongside ‘Dave’, a member from Aberdeen A neo-Nazi group has been caught by The Mail on Sunday discussing the launch of 'lone-wolf' action across Britain. The New British Union (NBU), which has promoted 'total Aryanism', revealed its sickening agenda at a secret meeting infiltrated by a reporter last week. Speaking in front of a flag emblazoned with the flash and circle of Oswald Mosley's British Union Of Fascists, deputy leader Clive Jones addressed a gathering of black-shirted fanatics, including some in Nazi uniform, and suggested members could be given a banned bomb-making guide. Explaining the organisation of lone-wolf action – terror attacks carried out by an individual – he said instructions would be issued by a leader 'feeding information in a roundabout sort of way'. Far-Right thugs would be given directions on 'how to be a lone wolf and pick targets' and would be given a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook – a terrorist manual that includes bomb-making instructions and is banned in the UK.

This Man Should Have SHOT Hitler…
One of the biggest what ifs in History was when a British soldier during the First World War spared a German soldier who had ran into the wrong area. BBC 17 SEP 2023 ![]() Private Henry James Tandey VC, DCM, MM (born Tandy, 30 August 1891 – 20 December 1977) was a British recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Years of service: 1907–1926 Henry Tandey was the British soldier armed with his rifle, and the young German soldier was Adolf Hitler. Tandey would not shoot Adolf Hitler, and he would then allow him to return to his trench and the German Army. But he could have also captured him as a prisoner of war, but he would not do this. The bullet that Henry Tandey could have fired may have decades later saved the lives of millions of people during the Second World War. Henry Tandey's encounter with Hitler would live fondly in the German Dictators mind, and he was favourable to the British for this sparing act. Hitler would even send a message to Tandey before the war broke out about this. But Henry Tandey would late regret his decision not to shoot Hitler, especially as the Luftwaffe heavily bombed his hometown.
