A powerful 7.4 earthquake has struck off the coast of Russia, with the tremor felt in Alaska, Japan, and Hawaii, prompting tsunami warnings to be issued in the region MailOnline 22 JUL 2025 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...-Ocean-Day.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...b/0_Russia.jpg A harrowing video has surfaced, capturing the terrifying moment Russia was hit by two potent earthquakes, including a colossal 7.4 magnitude tremor, triggering a tsunami alert for the Kamchatka Peninsula. The footage reveals an apartment seemingly rattled to its foundations by the immense power of the quake, with the ceiling trembling and the individual believed to be filming audibly expressing his fear. The most powerful quake occurred 90 miles east of Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, shortly after a 6.7 magnitude shake was detected in the same area. The consecutive jolts led the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center to issue an alert, cautioning about potential waves up to one metre above regular tide levels along certain Russian coastlines Russia Hit By Powerful 7.4 Magnitude Quake, Tsunami Alert Issued https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glAPr7xP30g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyq6wJLQBrA |

Tsunami Alerts From Japan to US After Powerful 8.8 Earthquake Sparks WARNINGS Across Pacific -One of The Strongest EVER Recorded
Magnitude 8.8 quake hit near Russias Kamchatka peninsula provoking warnings as far away as New Zealand and California The Guardian 30 JUL 2025 https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/c6f15...none&crop=none A tsunami warning is displayed on a television in Yokohama, near Tokyo, after Japan issued alerts following a strong earthquakes off the Kamchatka Peninsula https://ci3.googleusercontent.com/me...g?imwidth=1920 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article..._13841JPEG.jpg A photo showing tsunami flooding on Russias Kamchatka Peninsula https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...me-area-th.jpg There are tsunami warnings in Japan with high waves pictured A powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake has triggered a series of tsunami warnings and evacuation orders stretching across Japan, the US west coast and parts of the Pacific, after the shallow quake hit near Russias Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, with reports of waves up to four metres high in the remote region. The earthquake, one of the strongest ever recorded, struck at a depth of 19.3km 12 miles and was centred 126km 80 miles southeast of Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky, a city along Russias Avacha Bay, the US Geological Survey said. A tsunami with a height of 3 to 4 metres was recorded in parts of Kamchatka, Sergei Lebedev, regional minister for emergency situations said, with several injured. Kamchatka governor Vladimir Solodov described the quake in a post on Telegram as serious and the strongest in decades of tremors. A kindergarten in the area had also been damaged, he said. The US Tsunami Warning System issued a warning of hazardous tsunami waves within the next three hours along some coasts of Russia, Japan, Alaska and Hawaii. A tsunami watch was also in effect for the US island territory of Guam and Micronesia. The US Tsunami Warning Center said waves as high as 3 metres could also hit Ecuador, while sirens blared in Hawaii warning people to leave coastal areas. In Japan, much of the countrys eastern seaboard devastated by a powerful earthquake and tsunami in 2011 was ordered to evacuate. Officials said more than 900,000 residents in 133 municipalities along Japans Pacific coast were under evacuation orders. Those near the coast should evacuate immediately to higher ground or safe buildings in the areas covered by the tsunami warning from Hokkaido to Wakayama Prefecture hundreds of kilometres to the south,? said Japans chief cabinet secretary, Yoshimasa Hayashi, Please be aware that after the initial wave, second and third waves of tsunamis can be even higher. The Japan Weather Agency upgraded its warning, saying it expected tsunami waves of up to 3m, but only waves of 40cm have been recorded so far. The Japan Meteorological Agency said a tsunami as high as 40cm had been detected in 16 locations as the waves moved south along the Pacific coast from Hokkaido to just northeast of Tokyo. Officials urged caution, saying that bigger waves could come later. Workers at the Fukushima nuclear plant, which went into meltdown after being hit by the 2011 tsunami, have been evacuated, although no abnormalities have been observed at the site. Wednesdays quake struck about 250km 160 miles away from Hokkaido, Japans northernmost of the countrys four big islands, and was felt only slightly, according to Japans NHK television. Factory workers and residents in Japans northern Hokkaido evacuated to a hill overlooking the ocean, footage from broadcaster TBS showed. Please evacuate quickly. If you can move quickly to higher ground and away from the coast, a newscaster on Japanese public broadcaster NHK said. Kamchatka and Russias Far East sit on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a geologically active region that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Japan, also part of the active seismic zone, is one of the worlds most quake prone countries. Earlier in July, five powerful quakes the largest with a magnitude of 7.4 struck in the sea near Kamchatka. The largest quake was at a depth of 20km and was 144km 89 miles east of the city of Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky, which has a population of 180,000. On 4 November 1952, a magnitude 9.0 quake in Kamchatka caused damage but no reported deaths despite setting off 9.1m 30 foot waves in Hawaii. https://maritimecyprus.com/wp-conten...mi-696x415.jpg Tsunami waves hit Hawaii as massive earthquake off Russia triggered evacuations across Pacific https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d-O-tyqQYo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jxxTiZDRxo UPDATE: Frightening Scenes as Tsunami Waves FINALLY Hit Japan, Russia And Hawaii https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukg6KebBCZ4 |
Russian Volcano Erupts -First Time in 600 Years Days After HUGE Earthquake
Volcano Erupts For First Time in 600 Years Days After HUGE Earthquake Rocked Russia
Russias Krasheninnikov Volcano has erupted for the first time in 600 years, scientists say it follows a major 8.8 earthquake that sparked tsunami warnings across the world MailOnline 3 AUG 2025 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-at-090545.jpg Russian scientists say it is the first eruption of the Krasheninnikov Volcano in 600 years https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-at-090537.jpg The quake set off Klyuchevskoy the most active volcano in the area and also sent tsunami waves across to Japan, Hawaii and the US west coast. The Krasheninnikov Volcano in Kamchatka, Russia began spewing lava overnight, marking its first recorded eruption in modern history. Photographs show smoke billowing several miles high from the peak of the volcano, with a large ash cloud seen heading towards the Pacific Ocean. An orange aviation warning has been issued. It comes after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit Russias Far East coast on Wednesday, flooding a fishing port with waves from a tsunami, cutting power to a few areas and sending panicked residents fleeing from buildings. Multiple injuries were reported. A tsunami height of 10 to 13ft was recorded in Kamchatka, 2ft on Japans northern island of Hokkaido, and 2 to 5ft in San Francisco, officials said. Much of the US west coast, spanning California, Oregon, Washington state, and the Canadian province of British Columbia, were placed under a tsunami advisory, though no serious damage was reported. Authorities warned that the risk from the 8.8 magnitude quake could last for hours, and millions of people potentially in the path of the waves were initially told to move away from the shore or seek high ground. Confirming the surprise eruption of Krasheninnikov today, Olga Girina, head of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team, told Russias RIA state news agency This is the first historically confirmed eruption of Krasheninnikov Volcano in 600 years. She said lava was last known to have come from the volcano in 1463, with no eruptions reported since. Russias four volcanic islands, known in Russia as the Kurils, stretch between the region of Kamchatka and the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The 8.8magnitude earthquake off Russias Far East coast on Wednesday was the strongest recorded anywhere in the world since the 9.1 magnitude quake off northeastern Japan in March 2011, which caused a massive tsunami claiming almost 20,000 lives. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-at-090529.jpg It follows a 8.8 magnitude earthquake off Russias Far East coast, which triggered tsunami warnings across the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jthF2EfMAAM |
International Tsunami ALERT as Russia Hit by HUGE 7.8 MAG Earthquake
International Tsunami ALERT Issued as Russia Hit by HUGE 7.8 MAG Earthquake
A huge earthquake with a 7.8 magnitude has hit a strategically key area of eastern Russia, which has many naval and air bases, with a tsunami warning issued for the region MailOnline 19 SEP 2025 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...ia-at-Dusk.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...AAAi87jpeg.jpg A massive earthquake has rocked eastern Russia with a tsunami warning issued for the region. The quake has measured in at a whopping 7.8 on the Richter Scale, providing significant force and struck Russias city of Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, near the Kamchatka peninsula. The quake was at a depth of 10 km 6.21 miles, the US Geological Survey said. The region is also strategically important for Russia, as it hosts Russian Pacific Submarine Fleet and numerous airbases. There is the Yelizovo Air Base, which is located in Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky itself and adding to this, Vilyuchinsk Submarine Base, a significant Pacific Fleet base is about 20/30 km away in Vilyuchinsk, as well as the the Sharomy Air Base, a naval air base situated about 143 km north of the city. It is not known if the submarines or airplanes were evacuated in time and there is little information so far about the overall damage caused by the earthquake. The governor of Kamchatka, Vladimir Solodov, stated that all emergency services have been put on high alert with a tsunami warning issued by Russian authorities. The US National Weather Services Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii announced a tsunami advisory following the quake. Other countries have been warned to prepare for a potential tsunami including Japan. The impact is expected to travel across the Pacific, with people in Hawaii warned to be ready. Kamchatsky has a population of 181k people and sits on the Kuril Kamchatka Arc, which extends 2,100 km from Hokkaido, Japan along the Kuril Islands and the Pacific coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Kuril Kamchatka Arc is one of the most seismically active regions in the world. The largest megathrust earthquake to occur along the arc in the 20th century was the November 4, 1952 measuring 9.0 magnitude. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/article...ear-Russia.jpg |
