NSW Australia >Bushfires Claim at Least Three Lives, Over 150 Houses

An unprecedented number of fires in NSW has seen three people lose their lives, with more still missing.

Hundreds of crews battled more than 90 fires, five at emergency level, as at least 150 homes have been destroyed.

The town of Broken Hill in outback Australia has endured an intense drought since 2017, but it is finally seeing some longed-for rain.

Spectacular images of recent thunderstorms have been captured by local photographer Jacob Vlatko.

He tells the BBC how, after so long, it's been "amazing" to witness.
