Kremlin Website Down as Russian TV Channels Hacked to Broadcast Ukrainian Songs.......

Russian TV HACKED to Play Ukrainian Songs

In a chilling video message posted online by the hacker collective called Anonymous, a member of the masked group speaks directly to Vladimir Putin calling on him to resign....

Daily Mirror 26 FEB 2022

Russian TV channels appear to have been hacked and are broadcasting Ukrainian songs, reports say.

And all of the Russia's government webpages are also down too.....

The official website of the Kremlin, the office of Russian President Vladimir Putin, kremlin.ru is currently offline, following reports of cyberattacks on various other Russian government and state media websites.

In a chilling video message posted online by the hacker collective called Anonymous, a member of the masked group speaks directly to Vladimir Putin.

They call on him to resign and restore the rights of the Ukrainian people.

The message, read out in English, with Russian subtitles reads:

"Greetings Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We have been patently waiting for you to respond to our most recent request, but we find ourselves growing impatient of your foot dragging.

"Unfortunately it seems you have made the option to ignore our presence and therefore we have decided to dedicate an operation specifically for you.

"A present of sorts.".....

He then goes on to name other times the group has taken websites offline.

He adds:

"Your recent attempt to threaten Finland and Sweden is shameful.

"You threaten to invade those countries if they join NATO.

"We took down the websites of the federal anti-monopoly service, Kremlin, Russia Today and many other Russian government associated websites.

"Vladimir Putin is it a coincidence? Anonymous thinks not.",,,,

The electronic voice goes on:

"From the depths of your closet, no skeleton will be left unturned.

"We are now asking for you to restore the rights of the Ukrainian people and resign as an elected official."

Anonymous also tweeted

"#Anonymous is at WAR with Russia.

"Stay tuned. #OpRussia #StopRussia #OpKremlin #FreeUkraine"

Vladimir Putin

Messages threatening to place bombs at Moscow's train stations and airports have also been received by the authorities and checks are being made, the RIA news agency has reported.

It also said that the Russian embassy in London was in touch with British police after receiving phone threats related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow had described as a "special military operation."

Anonymous Leaks Database of The Russian Ministry of Defence

Thursday evening, the Anonymous collective declared a cyberwar against Russia as Putin's forces closed in on the Ukrainian capital. And it looks like they were serious.

CyberNews 1 MAR 2022.

On Friday evening, Anonymous claimed they managed to breach the database belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defence. The group's actions appear to be part of a growing trend that is seeing a growing number of cyber soldiers take to the newest front in the war against Russia.

Anonymous posted the database online and made it accessible to anyone. "Hackers all around the world: target Russia in the name of #Anonymous let them know we do not forgive, we do not forget. Anonymous owns fascists, always," the group tweeted.

It seems that the database contains officials' phone numbers, emails, and passwords. Twitter users seem excited about the news and continue discussing how they could use them to harm Putin's regime.

"Sign them up for GOP and Trump fundraising emails. That will be enough to drive them all crazy," one user suggested.

Many encouraged each other to send spam and malware to Russians. The original tweet announcing the leak and containing the link to the database was taken down because it "violated the Twitter Rules". Anonymous updated their tweet by removing the link.

Many activists took Ukraine's calls on the hacker underground to defend against Russia to heart. Earlier today, Anonymous claimed responsibility for taking down Russia's most prominent websites used to spread Kremlin propaganda. Even Pornhub had its say by blocking Russian users and greeting them with the Ukrainian flag and a message of support.

Such actions represent an escalation in cyberwarfare, prompted by Vladimir Putin's shocking decision to launch a full-scale attack on Ukraine this week. Cybersecurity analysts are predicting an upsurge in defense spending across Europe for both digital and conventional warfare, while patriotic or idealistic hackers sympathetic to either side are also mobilizing.

Cybersecurity firms such as disBalancer and Hacken have set up an app that can be easily downloaded, which they say allows people to conduct cyberattacks against Russian sites, while another anonymous group has developed a website tool that allows anyone with an internet connection to participate in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against Putin's regime.

Given NATO's apparent reluctance to get involved directly in the fighting in Ukraine for fear of escalating to total - and possibly nuclear - war, it is perhaps unsurprising that the wider European conflict is being more aggressively prosecuted by digital means.

To that end, Russia has also opened a cyber front. Ukraine's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) said the hackers were using password-stealing emails to break into Ukrainian soldiers' email accounts and using the compromised address books to send further malicious messages.

According to Reuters, a Russia-based cybercrime group Conti, known for using ransomware to extort millions of dollars from US and European companies, vowed on Friday to attack enemies of the Kremlin if they respond to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

And recently, the BBC reported that reputable cybersecurity analysts in Russia are turning 'rogue' by night, assembling their teams to conduct patriotic hacking attacks against enemies of the Kremlin. "I want to help beat Ukraine from my computer," one such actor told the BBC recently, after he and his team conducted DDos attacks on Ukrainian government websites.

In a blog post, the Conti group said it was announcing its "full support" for the government of President Vladimir Putin.

"If anybody will decide to organize a cyberattack or any war activities against Russia, we are going to use our all possible resources to strike back at the critical infrastructures of an enemy," the Conti blog post read.

Update Re: Anonymous HITS AGAIN-Russia May Be CUT From Global Internet

Anonymous Hacks Russias’ Roscomnadzor Site -Blocking Agency

Andy Maxwell, TF. 12 MAR 2022.

For years we’ve been reporting on efforts by Russian authorities to restrict access to internet content deemed ‘dangerous’ by the state.

Our focus has been on the relatively tight niche of copyright issues. These typically involve Russian telecoms agency Roscomnadzor and the use of powerful filtering and detection systems to block pirate sites that stubbornly refuse to remove movies and TV shows.

Importantly, the same systems can be used to block almost any website or service that runs contrary to the Kremlin’s vision for Russia, Tor included.

Those powers have been increasingly on display since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. After the authorities passed a law that effectively outlaws honest journalism with penalties of up to 15 years in prison, Roscomnadzor went on to block Twitter, Facebook, and any news outlets that failed to toe the state propaganda line.

Censorship-busting VPNs also came under renewed attack in an effort to prevent accurate reporting from reaching the country. But now, as Russian forces face stubborn resistance in Ukraine, Roscomnadzor itself has been violated.

Anonymous ‘Hacks and Breaches’ Roscomnadzor

In an announcement posted Thursday on Substack, transparency group Distributed Denial of Secrets reveals that a source claiming affiliation with the decentralized hacktivist collective Anonymous has managed to gain access to a trove of Roscomnadzor data.

According to DDoSecrets, the data came from Roscomnadzor in Bashkortostan, the most populous republic in Russia with around four million people. It’s a big trove – 820GB of data spread across hundreds of thousands of files in tens of thousands of directories – so it will take time to properly examine what lies insi

But, for now, DDoSecrets provides a brief rundown
.

What’s In The Leak?

The release of the leaked data comes in two parts. The first, containing 363,994 files in 43,593 directories, reaches a total of 526.9GB. It also contains fresh data, with some files as recent as March 5, 2022, i.e more than a week into the invasion.

The second part is said to be two directories containing raw data files in proprietary formats for two databases, together exceeding 290GB. DDoSecrets say they will release the raw data while they find for solutions to extract the data. According to early assessments, one database relates to legal issues while the other could be related to HR procedures.

It appears that DDoSecrets wants to make the files public now to ensure that Roscomnadzor’s work is quickly accessible to Russian citizens, in case the state decides to follow through with its threat to launch the ‘Sovereign RuNet’. If that is implemented, it could mean that Russia disconnects from the wider internet.

Reaching Out To Ordinary Russian Citizens

“The source, a part of Anonymous, urgently felt the Russian people should have access to information about their government. They also expressed their opposition to the Russian people being cut off from independent media and the outside world,” the announcement reads.

“We are publishing this release in anticipation of Russia potentially being cut off from the global internet on 11 March
,,, and hope Russians will have time to download this data, before then.”
