Restaurant Posts Insulting Sign to Rednecks

You Sorry a**ed Rednecks': Restaurant Owners under Fire as They Deny Writing Poison Pen to Former Customers after their Business Failed

By Daily Mail UK, 7 September 2013

The owners of a restaurant that recently closed have denied that they were the ones to post an offensive sign inside their closed storefront, blaming the closure on the local's poor tastes.

'You sorry a**ed, rednecked sacks of goat sperm had no idea what you had here!' reads the letter posted in Sava! Italiano restaurant in Amarillo, Texas.
'Good luck with your pre-packaged frozen sh** food in this town.'

Angry words: The restaurant owners deny that they were the ones to post this letter inside their storefront

'Maybe you'll remember us when you're boning your sister and think she smells like pasta.'

Similar style: An earlier sign was posted by the owners after their August 17 closure

'We are off to make money in a town whose average IQ is above room temperature.'

A picture of the letter- printed on the restaurant's stationary- was posted on Reddit, but the physical letter has reportedly been taken down from the storefront.
The restaurant served it's last meal on August 17, and the owners are said to be planning new outposts in Lubbock and also Austin.
On the restaurant's Facebook page, the owners have denied that they are responsible for the offensive sign.

Hours after the photo of the sign was published on Reddit, a post was added to Sava! Italiano's page that read: 'Don't believe all you hear and see folks!'

Followers don't buy their denial, however.

'Isn't it obvious? Someone broke into the restaurant, printed a sign on company paper, and taped it to the inside of the restaurant window. Then they left and locked the restaurant back up. Yep, that must be what happened,' Facebook user Paige Jackson wrote.

The fare: The restaurant did not have success in Amarillo but they plan to open another location in Texas

The defensive language used in the sign is similar in tone to an interview that executive chef Mark Coffman gave local newspaper, the Amarillo Globe-News.

The exchange: A former employee explains it was never left on the store for long and it was done as a joke

'I think Lubbock will get what we do a little better. It’s a bigger wine town... We probably won’t stay in Amarillo. I’ve enjoyed Amarillo; it’s just a tough sell,' he told the paper.

One of the restaurant's former chefs has now come forward and said that it was the owner of the restaurant who put the sign up, but said that he did so as a joke.
A man using the screenname CJWimbo posted on the Amarillo Globe-News that the owner, Mr Coffman, wrote and printed the letter on the restaurant's stationary and posted it temporarily on the storefront.

He then took a picture of the sign, and send it to the commentor- who identified himself only as one of last cooks who worked at the restaurant- and another restaurant employee as a joke.

The commentor has posted a screengrab of the text exchange with Coffman, where the other employee asks if he really posted the letter on the store.
Coffman responded that he did not.

'This sign was never left up on the building for more than the time it took to snap the shot,' the former chef writes.
'It was put up for the sake of a photograph to be humorous, and then taken down immediately by the owner Mark Coffman to be replaced by the sign that was kept up to inform people the business was closed.'
