2024: TRUMPs' BOMBSHELL New Assault to Control Georgia Election Votes

TRUMP Issues BOMBSHELL New Assault on Georgia Election.

Georgia Grand Jury Accused Trump and Others of Illegally Trying to Overturn The 2020 Presidential Election in The State. The Case Has Been 'Delayed' Ever Since

The Georgia State Election Board has been accused of voter suppression after introducing new rules before the 2024 presidential election.

TRUMP Gives Shoutout to His ‘Pitbulls,’ Georgia Republican Election Officials He Hopes Will Obstruct Results

AP 23 AUG 2024

https://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/...16&s=403&d=403

The changes were voted in by Republican members of the election board, while the board's two non-Republicans voted against them.

The new rules allow local officials more power to dispute election results by adopting a new ballot-counting policy.

They state that, if a result is disputed in an electoral area, all votes must be counted by hand to ensure that they match the official number of votes cast.

A year ago, a Georgia grand jury accused Trump and others of illegally trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state. The former president has denied all charges against him and repeatedly said that the case is part of a political witch hunt against him because he is the GOP presidential nominee.

The case has been delayed ever since, with no prospect of going to trial, after one of the former president's co-defendants, Michael Roman, a Trump campaign staffer and former White House aide, alleged in a court filing that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had improperly engaged in a romantic relationship with lawyer Nathan Wade, whom she had picked to lead the prosecution against Trump and 18 others.

The new rules allow local election officials to deny election certification until the dispute is resolved.

Critics say that it is being introduced so that Donald Trump can again contest the Georgia result and begin a process of disruption and delay if he loses the election.

The three Republican board members voted to adopt the new measures, while the other two members, a Democrat and an independent, voted against.

Newsweek sought email comment from the Georgia State Election Board and the Trump campaign on Wednesday.

The proposal was submitted to the board by Salleigh Grubbs, chairperson of the Cobb County Republicans.

"We have to have assurance, as Georgians, that what we see printed on our ballot is exactly accurate, and the only way to do that is by a handwritten affiliation on the precinct level," Grubbs told the board at Monday's meeting.

Voting rights organization Fair Fight said the rule changes are being introduced so that Republicans would disrupt the election if Trump loses.

"Trump and his MAGA allies have taken over the Georgia State Election Board to try and give a veneer of legality to their illegal scheme to disrupt the certification of Georgia's 2024 election results," Fair Fight CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo said in a statement.

"Many of Trump's key election denier allies and Republican Party operatives are behind these illegal, anti-freedom changes to Georgia election rules, and it's all with the goal of helping Trump win the Peach State, even if he doesn't earn a majority of Georgians' votes."

The Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election Officials (GAVREO) also opposes the new rules.

Three days ago Republican Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr had shot down a GOP effort to reopen an investigation into repeatedly discredited claims that victory was "stolen" from former President Donald Trump in 2020.

The Georgia State Election Board, now controlled by Trump loyalists who support election fraud conspiracy theories, earlier this month attempted to order Carr to resume a previously closed investigation into Trumps 2020 loss in Fulton County.

In an official decision issued on Monday, Carr wrote that his office "is not required to conduct an investigation on its own or with outside personnel at the direction of a client" while ruling that the board "is not empowered to direct the Attorney General to conduct an investigation."

2024- Georgias Ours to Lose: States' Gov Will Back Trump If He Wins or Loses

Georgias Ours to Lose: Trump and Harris Camps Zero In On Swing States

Amid close race, Harris to go on tour in Georgia as Trump surrogate insists states governor will back ex-president whether he wins or loses

Money also continues to pour in, with the Harris campaign raising $540m in five weeks a record in US presidential campaign history.

The Guardian 26 AUG

As Kamala Harris and Donald Trump brace themselves for what promises to be an ugly and bruising sprint to the finishing line in November, both presidential candidates campaigns are turning their sights back on the handful of desperately close swing states where the battle is likely to be decided.

Georgia is coming into view as a critical battleground for both leaders as they struggle to gain voters? attention in an epochal election.

On Wednesday, the vice-president will travel from the White House to southern Georgia to hold her first campaign event in the state with her recently anointed running mate and former high school football coach, Minnesota governor Tim Walz.

The duo will go on a bus tour of the region, attempting to reach out to diverse voting groups including rural areas where the former president is strong, as well as suburban and urban districts in Albany and Valdosta, where large Black communities are among their target demographics. On Thursday night, Harris is scheduled to cap the tour with a rally in Savannah, where she will talk to Georgians about the stakes of this election.

The intense focus on Georgia by the Democratic campaign underlines that they are not resting on their laurels after what most commentators have agreed was a pitch-perfect convention in Chicago last week. Despite the pronounced bounce in popularity that Harris has enjoyed since she dramatically switched with Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket five weeks ago, the race remains essentially neck and neck.

The latest poll tracker by 538 for Georgia puts Trump 0.6% ahead of Harris in Georgia, with Harris on 46.0% and Trump on 46.6%. That is bang in the middle of the margin of error ? and suggests that the state is open territory for the two candidates.

In Sunday?s political talkshows, Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator from South Carolina who is one of Trump?s closest surrogates, underlined the importance of Georgia to Trump?s re-election hopes.

?If we don?t win Georgia, I don?t see how we get to 270,? he told CNN?s State of the Union, referring to the number of electoral college votes needed to win the presidency.

Graham added that he would be accompanying Trump to what he called a ?unity event? in Georgia soon. He predicted that if Trump played the right game in the state he would win.

?I do believe Georgia?s ours to lose. It?s really hard for Harris to tell Georgians that we?re on the right track ? they don?t believe it,? Graham said.

The problem for Graham and other top Republican advisers is that Trump frequently blatantly ignores their guidance. In his most recent trip to Georgia, Trump ranted about the state?s Republican governor Brian Kemp, whom he still blames for failing to back him in his attempt to subvert the 2020 election and whose support he now needs to prevail in November.

Graham implicitly admitted to CNN the trouble that the attack on Kemp had caused but insisted: We repaired the damage, I think, between Governor Kemp and President Trump.

?He?s going to put his ground game behind President Trump and all other Republicans in Georgia.

Three days after the Democratic convention, which went off in a blaze of red, white and blue balloons and an ecstatic response from delegates, the Harris-Walz campaign is now laser-focused on that same ground game. The key is to turn the palpable surge in energy that exploded from the Chicago convention into hard work making calls and knocking on doors in Georgia and the other six battleground states: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The chairperson of the campaign, Jen O?Malley Dillon, released new data on Sunday which she said demonstrated the positive impact of the convention throughout the battleground states. Chicago marked the biggest week so far in Harris?s nascent pitch for the White House, she said, with volunteers signing up for almost 200,000 shifts during the week.

Money also continues to pour in, with the campaign raising $540m in five weeks ? a record in US presidential campaign history. About $82m of that was received during convention week.

O?Malley Dillon said that it was all a sign of Harris building on her momentum: ?We are taking no voters for granted and communicating relentlessly with battleground voters every single day between now and election day all the while Trump is focused on very little beyond online tantrums.?

A leading Harris surrogate, the Colorado?s Democratic governor Jared Polis, appeared on Fox News Sunday to try to convince right-leaning voters and undecided independents that they could safely back Harris. ?She?s come to the middle,? Polis said, when asked about some of the more progressive policies Harris previously espoused but has since dropped ? including a ban on fracking and Medicare for all.

Polis added: ?Shes pragmatic. Shes a tough leader. Shes the leader for the future.

Shes going to be a president for all the American people.

'Walked Into a Trap': Obama Goaded TRUMP Into Taking Harris Bait

--Former Presidents Obama and Clinton used the Democratic Convention to lay bait that lured Donald Trump into a trap

TRUMP Wants to Pull Out of 10 September Presidential Debate

Republican nominee calls ABC fake news and sows further doubt over appearance at debate with Kamala Harris

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton used the Democratic National Convention stage to lay bait that lured Donald Trump into a trap

Harris used her speech to change tactics away from President Joe Biden?s focus on the GOP?s threat to the nation, and instead took aim at Trump for being ?an unserious man,? Stephen Collinson wrote.

The addresses by the ex-presidents in the nights before Harris closed the convention were designed to goad Trump into proving her point, he wrote.

?Her tone shift involved former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton lampooning their fellow ex-president as a figure of ridicule,? Collinson wrote.

Then Harris closed the trap with a line in her convention speech: Trump is an unserious man. But the consequences ? of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious.

In hindsight, the ex-presidents seemed to be goading Trump into a reaction that would validate the second part of Harris statement. And, as usual, he delivered, with his frantic social media posts during her speech.?

Collinson was referencing attacks from both Obama and Clinton that elicited reactions from Trump both on Truth Social in posts he made in real-time as she spoke, and in a speech he gave afterward.

Though many Trump camp insiders are reportedly urging him to stick to focusing on policy, he has proved unwilling to do that, instead continuing to trade in personal insults and complain about Democrats criticizing him, Collinson wrote.

"One reason those advisers are concerned is that the former president is walking into a trap," the columnist wrote. "Sure, Trump?s rage and revolt helped him win the 2016 election against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. But his cultivation of chaos contributed to his disastrous management of the Covid-19 pandemic, which contributed to his being booted out of office after a single term."

In a speech in Arizona Friday, the day after Harris' address, In a mocking voice, Trump said, They say to me, Sir please stick to policy, dont stick to personlity. You should be nice to people, sir.

He went on, I call them up, my geniuses, they get paid a fortune ? actually not that much ? but I call up my people and say, They are knocking the hell out of me and you say I shouldnt get personal,'" Collinson reported.

"'But I am going to do my best.'??

RUNNING SCARED -Trump Threatens to Pull Out of 10 September Presidential Debate And Blames ABC

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/2f957...0&dpr=1&s=none

Trump calls ABC fake news and sows further doubt over appearance at debate with Kamala Harris

Trump has expressed doubt that he will participate in a scheduled televised debate with Kamala Harris next month, hurling a trademark ?fake news? slur at the network that had agreed to host it.

The former president and Republican nominee threatened to pull out of the 10 September meeting with Harris, the vice-president and Democratic nominee for Novembers election, in a post on his Truth Social network on Sunday night.

Referring to an interview on ABCs This Week earlier in the day with the host Jonathan Karl and the Republican Arkansas US senator Tom Cotton, Trump questioned the network?s fairness for the only debate that both presidential candidates had already agreed on.

?I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carls ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network Trump wrote with his usual penchant for erroneous upper case letters.

He also alluded to his ongoing defamation lawsuit against the This Week host George Stephanopoulos and the ABC network over comments the anchor made in March stating Trump had been found liable for rape instead of sexual abuse in a case brought by the New York writer E Jean Carroll.

It is not the first time that Trump, who trails Harris by seven points nationally in a new Fairleigh Dickinson University poll published on Saturday, has sowed doubt over his debate appearance.

Right now I say, why should I do a debate? Im leading in the polls. And, everybody knows her, everybody knows me, he told Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business Network earlier this month after Harris replaced Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket.

He stated he had pledged instead to take part in a 4 September debate on Fox News, to which the Harris campaign did not agree, saying he would see Harris there ?or not at all, before changing his mind again.

Harris, meanwhile, seized on Trump?s wavering commitment before a lively crowd at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, last month. If you got something to say, say it to my face, she said.

Trump?s latest hesitation comes amid a reported impasse between the two presidential campaigns over the conditions of next month?s debate. Politico cited four sources on Monday claiming that negotiations had broken down over the turning off of the participants? microphones when it was not their turn to speak.

According to the report, the Harris campaign is demanding that the microphones be left hot at all times, in the apparent belief that the vice-president can make Trump lose his cool under questioning and utter something damaging or inappropriate.

Trumps campaign, meanwhile, has been pressing for them to be turned off.

We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates? mics should be live throughout the full broadcast,? Brian Fallon, senior adviser for communications for the Harris campaign, told Politico in a statement.

Our understanding is that Trumps handlers prefer the muted microphone because they dont think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own.

We suspect Trumps team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they dont think he can handle himself without the benefit of a mute button.

'Gross Incompetence': TRUMP Hurls Insults on Anniversary of 13 Service Members' Deaths

Botched, embarrassing and gross incompetence ? these are the insults former President Donald Trump hurled three years after a suicide bombing in Afghanistan claimed the lives of 13 American service members.

"This is the third anniversary of the BOTCHED Afghanistan withdrawal, the most EMBARRASSING moment in the history of our Country," Trump wrote. "Gross Incompetence."

This message arrived on the third anniversary of the Kabul airport attack on Aug. 26, 2021, when ISIS suicide bomber Abdul Rahman al-Logari killed 13 U.S. service members and about 170 Afghan civilians at Hamid Karzai International Airport's Abbey Gate, Defense Department reports show.

Trump lambasted the loss of "BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT LEFT BEHIND," echoing a claim that has been fact-checked as false.

Veterans Groups Condemn Trump as 'A National Disgrace' Over Reports He Called Fallen Soldiers Losers and Suckers

Republican Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, pulled strings to get Donald Trump into Arlington National Cemetery, amid what has become a scandal and a crisis for the ex-president's campaign to retake the White House.

Despite federal law that prohibits using the hallowed resting place of 400,000 of the nation's service members for political purposes, on Monday the Trump campaign photographed, filmed, and released video across multiple social media platforms showing the one-term president and convicted felon awaiting sentencing participating in a wreath-laying ceremony followed by him standing in a sacred section where photography is highly regulated, and standing by several headstones, grinning, in his famous "thumbs up" pose, which was widely condemned.

U.S. Dept. of the Army oversees and maintains Arlington National Cemetery. According to a Washington Post report Wednesday evening, "Pentagon officials were deeply concerned about the former president turning the visit into a campaign stop, but they also didn?t want to block him from coming, according to Defense Department officials and internal messages

Donald Trump has turned his highly-controversial and unlawful campaign event at Arlington National Cemetery into a campaign TikTok video, complete with background music and his remarks as the voiceover.

Arlington, the final resting place for about 400,000 of Americas service members, many of whom died in service to their country, has strict rules against using the grounds for political purposes, rules that are backed up by federal law.

Not only did the Trump campaign violate federal law, according to a statement released by Arlington, but NPR reports members of the campaign allegedly got into a verbal and PHYSICAL altercation with an Arlington official who apparently was attempting to enforce the rules.

Video from Section 60, where recently buried U.S. service members are interred, later appeared in a Trump campaign Tik Tok in which he criticizes President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic rival for the presidency

The dispute over the ceremony at Arlington national cemetery, during which Trump campaign aides allegedly shoved a cemetery worker so they could film Trump laying a wreath, contravening rules against political activity at the site, escalated after the vice-president said Saturday that Trump ?disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt?.

But two republican members of the ?Gold Star? families who lost relatives posted messages on Trump?s Truth Social platform Saturday saying they had invited Trump to the ceremony and criticized the Biden-Harris administration for the Afghanistan pull-out three years ago.

?Why did we want Trump there? It wasn?t to help his political campaign,? Mark Schmitz, father of Marine lance corporal Jared Schmitz, said in one video. ?We wanted a leader. That explains why you and Joe didn?t get a call.?

Trump, While Reflecting on Assassination Attempt, Puts Blame on Biden and Harris

https://cdn.cnn.com/cnnnext/dam/asse...uper-tease.jpg

Donald Trump said Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are at fault ?to a certain extent? for the attempt on his life last month in Pennsylvania, blaming them for security deficiencies even though the president and vice president have no involvement in Secret Service assignments.

?He always made it very tough for us to have the proper number of Secret Service people,? Trump said about Biden in an interview with TV personality Phil McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil.

?When this happened, people would ask, whose fault is it? I think to a certain extent it?s Biden?s fault and Harris? fault,? Trump added in the interview, which aired Tuesday. ?And I?m the opponent. Look, they were weaponizing government against me, they brought in the whole DOJ to try and get me, they weren?t too interested in my health and safety.?

Trump?s claim is entirely unfounded. The president and vice president are not involved in Secret Service assignments.

The agency, which is funded by Congress, has faced a staffing shortage for years, as NBC News recently reported. A Secret Service official told NBC News that the shortfall has resulted in denials of requests for extra personnel, but added that no such requests had been turned down for the rally where he was shot.

On Wednesday, FBI officials told reporters that Trump?s would-be assassin had searched online for information about both of the major parties? national conventions and that the former president?s July 13 rally in Pennsylvania appears to have been a ?target of opportunity.?

Trump?s comments escalate the tension in an already heated election year. Republicans have blamed the shooting on Democrats for calling Trump a threat to democracy after he has repeatedly vowed to tear through political norms and governmental systems of checks and balances.

CUCKOO....

Trump set the tone in his numerous attempts to disparage Vice President Kamala Harris to keep her from the White House this November. However, his cronies have taken things a wildly racist step further.

Group also challenged right of Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley to appear on Republican primary ballots

The 90-year-old National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) cited the 1857 Dred Scott Supreme Court decision to state Harris cannot run for president per the Constitution of the United States, according to The Independent.

A reminder: Dred Scott v. Sanford declared that slaves weren?t U.S. citizens and thus not protected by the federal government; it?s wildly considered one of the most reviled decisions in the history of the Supreme Court.

According to the platform and policy document from the NFRA, the way that the Constitution describes presidential requirements disqualifies Harris entirely. The group also questioned the validity of Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy running for president based on citizen requirements which state that only ?natural-born citizens? can hold the position.

The documents argued that Harris, Haley and Ramaswamy had parents who ?were not American citizens at the time of their birth.? Problem is, the Dred Scott ruling (which was overturned, by the way) has nothing to do with Harris, Haley or Ramaswamy, and the NFRA cited it for no good reason except to...maybe call Harris a slave...?

The NFRA?s true complaint is its interpretation of ?natural-born citizen? as ?a person born on American soil of parents who are both citizens of the United States at the time of the child?s birth.?

The constitution states that only natural-born citizens can be president, and Harris was born and raised in Oakland, Calif. Under their own reasoning, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers wouldn?t be eligible since they were born of parents from British colonies. So...conversation over.

The tactics of the NFRA serve as justanother excuse to endorse Trump, which the group officially did back in October. In a statement to The Independent, the group?s president Alex Johnson doubled down on his attack on Harris.

?We firmly believe that faux Democrat Ms. Harris should never hold office for any of the many reasons people choose to highlight, including her party?s tactics on dividing people by race and class, which mirror those that have led nations like Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea into totalitarian regimes,? he stated.

?These policies have historically resulted in widespread suffering, economic collapse, and the erosion of individual freedoms. The Democrat Party preys on the ignorance of voters.?

TRUMP & The GOP's BIG Lie 2.0... Their Plan to Shut Down America This Fall

COMPLETE MADNESS HAS COME...

Trump made a statement that caught the attention of political observers on social media, including actress Bette Midler.

"I better win or you're gonna have problems like we've never had.

We may have no country left," Trump said at his weekend swing-state rally. "This may be our last election. You want to know the truth? People have said that. This could be our last election."

This comment caught the attention of Midler, who is no stranger to being attacked by Trump himself.

The statement was flagged by Republican Voters against Trump, and Midler responded, saying, "Trump is threatening us, and he means it."

"If he doesn?t win, he will call for Civil War. Kamala has to win in a landslide so this pig is faced with the truth: Most Americans despise him and everything he stands for," the actress added.

Journalist Jim Stewartson said, "Wow." He also called Trump "clinically delusional."

"This is a narcissistic crisis. A total breakdown of the ego," Stewartson added. "He?s drowning in terror."

Theologian Jared Stacy, PhD also chimed in, saying, "Same rhetoric, stoking fear."

Luke Zaleski, legal affairs editor for CondNast, said, "Threats as usual."

Former GOP writer Zorek Richards said, "That's called threatening the voters."

"Outside of 1930s Germany I am not aware of that working anywhere else," Richards added.

Retired lawyer Don Frickel added, "Oh my, what drivel. I don?t know a single soul who is worried about the future of our country under Joe or Kamala.

On the other hand, we all know why real Rs are joining the Democracy Coalition. They don?t necessarily agree with all D policies, but they know the country and our democracy will be in big trouble if TFG gets another term."

TRUMPs Ominous Threat to Poll Workers

Reacting to a Donald Trump posting on Truth Social late Saturday where the former president issued a threat aimed at election poll workers, a furious Michael Steele hammered the ex-president for threatening people just trying to do their jobs.

Nonetheless he read Trump claiming, "Therefore, the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny

WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again.

We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WON?T! Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials.

Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country."

Big Lie 2.0

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=933

Trump made good use of the propaganda technique known as the Big Lie 1.0, famously claiming that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

And now he?s preparing to use Big Lie 2.0 to shut down our government this fall, believing it?ll hurt the Biden administration and thus the Harris/Walz campaign.

That second weapon ? this Big Lie 2.0 is the false allegation of widespread ?voter fraud? in America. He intends to use it to try to bring the Biden administration to its knees in the next few weeks. And, as a bonus, if it works, he gets to prevent millions of people, particularly minorities and women, from voting.

Republicans have been using this lie to attack the heart of our democracy right out in the open ever since the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, the year they responded by rolling out Operation Eagle Eye, yelling about nonexistent voter fraud and using it as an excuse to intimidate minority voters in the Goldwater/Johnson race.....

Fact-Checking Trumps Debate Claims: From Abortion to Project 2025

Donald Trump repeatedly made false and misleading claims about immigrants eating the pets, his connection to Project 2025, and the Central Park Five, among other topics, during his debate with Kamala Harris on Tuesday in Philadelphia.

At the first debate of this presidential election cycle in June when Joe Biden was still the Democratic partys nominee ? moderators took a completely hands-off approach to fact-checking.

The light moderation meant that lies and half-truths, most frequently from Trump, went unchallenged during the primetime debate.

Here are the facts on some of the false claims offered during Tuesdays debate.

Trump Claims Crime is Up in The US

The facts: Trump is wrong: crime is actually down. Data from the FBI found that violent crime decreased during the Trump administration, spiking in 2020 during the pandemic, and continuing to trend downward afterwards.

Preliminary data from the FBI found that violent crime was down 6% in 2023, and 15% in the first quarter of 2024.

Violent crime decreased throughout most of Trumps presidency, according to FBI data that uses information provided by law enforcement agencies.

However, it spiked in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has trended downward since 2020 across the US, nearing pre-pandemic levels in 2022. Preliminary FBI data for 2023 shows that violent crime overall was down another 6% that year.

Though the data is preliminary, it includes numbers from 80% of the law enforcement agencies in the country.

Trump repeated one of his usual falsehoods: that abortions are taking place in the ninth month of pregnancy.

The facts: Fewer than 1% of abortions are performed past 21 weeks of pregnancy; when these abortions do take place, they often occur in medical emergencies or cases of fetal anomalies.

Trump also suggested, at multiple points, that abortions take place after birth. That would be infanticide, and it is illegal in all 50 states.

Trump Denies Involvement in Project 2025

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/daf23...0&dpr=1&s=none

Trump denied knowledge of Project 2025, a 900-page plan for the aggressive rightwing overhaul of nearly every aspect of the federal government.

Project 2025 suggests ridding the federal ranks of many appointed roles and stacking agencies instead with more political appointees aligned with, and more beholden, to Trump?s policy prescriptions.

The facts: Though Trump has tried repeatedly to distance himself from the platform, which seeks to strip away reproductive, LGBTQ+ and voting rights, his policies align heavily with Project 2025.

As the Guardians Rachel Leingang reported: ?Trump well knows the Heritage Foundation and has spoken at their events, and [Kevin] Roberts, Heritages leader, has previously said he and Trump have talked several times. Project 2025?s authors and supporters contain a ton of former Trump administration officials.
Trump makes false claims about immigration

Donald Trump has spouted off a number of false claims about immigration. Among other allegations, he said immigrants are taking over the towns Theyre going in violently.

The facts: Thats false. Although some US cities have seen an influx of immigrants, most have arrived legally, with work permits or with authorization to stay while their cases are worked out in the courts.

There has been no widespread violence in these cities and overall, immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than the US-born according to multiple, extensive studies, including from the conservative Cato Institute.

Trump claims immigrants are eating the pets in Ohio town

Trump repeated an unsubstantiated claim that immigrants are eating pets in an Ohio town, forcing the moderator to tell him that there is no proof of that.

In Springfield, theyre eating the dogs, the people that came in, theyre eating the cats theyre eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is whats happening in our country, and its a shame, the former president said.

The story of migrants allegedly eating pets has circulated in rightwing media in recent days and been repeated by Trumps running mate JD Vance.

The facts: These are false and unsubstantiated claims.

You bring up Springfield, Ohio, and ABC News did reach out to the city manager there. He told us there have been no credible reports of specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community,? moderator David Muir told Trump.
The Springfield News-Sun reported on Monday that police have received no reports related to pets being stolen and eaten.

Donald Trump repeated misinformation about the result of lawsuits contesting the 2020 election results.

The former president said that ?no judges looked at? lawsuits he and allies filed about irregularities in the election. ?They said we didn?t have standing. A technicality. Can you imagine a system where a person in an election doesn?t have standing? The president of the United States doesn?t have standing. That?s how we lost,? Trump said.

The facts: Thats misleading some lawsuits were dismissed due to a lack of standing meaning that those who brought the lawsuits didnt have a stake in the results. Others were decided on merit. Judges found in some cases that evidence provided was speculative, or failed to show fraud.

Trump and Harris argue over the best or worst economy

Trump boasted that the US experienced its best economy under his administration, while Harris noted that he left the US with ?the worst unemployment since the Great Depression.

The facts: Theyre both wrong Trump by a lot, and Harris by a shade.

Though unemployment spiked to its worst levels since the Great Depression in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic, it dipped back by the time Trump left office.

Meanwhile, Trumps best economy line has been the bane of fact checkers since he was in office. Best is a very vague term but by several measures, including GDP, unemployment, the trade deficit the economy was far from its peak.

Here are some final numbers from his term, compiled by FactCheck.org:

The economy lost 2.7m jobs. The unemployment rate increased by 1.7 percentage points to 6.4%.

Paychecks grew faster than inflation. Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 8.4% after inflation.

After-tax corporate profits went up and the stock market set new records. The S&P 500 index rose 67.8%.

The international trade deficit Trump promised to reduce went up. The US trade deficit in goods and services in 2020 was the highest since 2008 and increased 36.3% from 2016.

The number of people lacking health insurance rose by 3 million.
The federal debt held by the public went up, from $14.4tn to $21.6 tn.
Home prices rose 27.5%, and the homeownership rate increased 2.1 percentage points to 65.8%.

Trump Doubles Down on Claims About The Exonerated Black Central Park Five

Donald Trump doubled down on his claims that the exonerated Central Park Five Black teenagers who were arrested in connection with the rape and assault of a white female jogger in 1989 and convicted based on police-coerced confessions.

Back then, Trump called for the execution of the five children. When Kamala Harris brought up Trump?s stance, he dug in: ?They pled [sic] guilty They badly hurt a person, they killed a person, ultimately.

The facts: All of them were exonerated after a convicted murderer confessed to the crime in 2002. In 2014, they were awarded a $41m settlement.

In 1989, before any of the boys had faced trial, Trump paid a reported $85,000 to take out advertising space in four of the city?s newspapers, including the New York Times, calling for their execution.

100+ Republican Officials Call TRUMP UNFIT To SERVE & Endorse Harris

More Than 100+ Republican Officials Call TRUMP UNFIT To SERVE And Endorse Harris

In recent weeks, many Republicans have crossed party lines to endorse Democratic presidential candidate

The Guardian 18 SEP 2024

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/0f4cc...0&dpr=1&s=none

Kamala Harris has secured endorsements from Republican stalwarts like former CIA director Michael Hayden, left, and former defense secretary Chuck Hagel, right

More than 100 Republican former national security and foreign policy officials on Wednesday endorsed Kamala Harris for president in a joint letter, calling Donald Trump ?unfit to serve? another term in the White House.

Former officials from the presidential administrations of Republicans Ronald Reagan, George H W Bush, George W Bush and Donald Trump, as well as Democrats Bill Clinton and Barack Obama voiced their support for Harris, the Democratic nominee for president in this November?s election. They were joined by some former GOP members of Congress.

The letter said: ?We believe that the president of the United States must be a principled, serious, and steady leader.?

It went on: ?We expect to disagree with Kamala Harris on many domestic and foreign policy issues, but we believe that she possesses the essential qualities to serve as president and Donald Trump does not. We therefore support her election to be president.?

Among the signees were former defense secretaries William Cohen and Chuck Hagel, who served in the Clinton and Obama administrations, respectively. Others include William Webster, a former CIA and FBI director under the Reagan and first Bush administrations, as well as Michael Hayden, a former CIA and NSA director under the younger Bush and the Obama administrations.

?We firmly oppose the election of Donald Trump. As president, he promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests, and betrayed our values, democracy, and this country?s founding document,? the letter added.

Pointing to Trump?s involvement in the 6 January 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol, his ?susceptibility to flattery and manipulation? by authoritarian leaders such as Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping of China, and ?chaotic national security decision-making?, the former officials called Trump unfit to serve again as president or in ?any office of public trust?.

The former officials also pointed to Harris?s support for Nato and Israel, as well as her commitment to signing the bipartisan border security package that Republicans blocked, and her pledge to appoint a Republican to her administration as reasons for their endorsement.

Several former Trump officials who signed the letter include Mark Harvey, a former special assistant to the president, and Elizabeth Neumann, a former assistant secretary of Homeland Security.

In recent weeks, a handful of Republicans have crossed party lines to endorse Harris, including the former Virginia representative Barbara Comstock. In an interview with CNN, Comstock explained her decision, saying: ?After January 6, after Donald Trump has refused for four years to acknowledge that he lost [the 2020 election], and his threats against democracy, I think it?s important to turn the page.?

Other Republicans who have endorsed Harris include Alberto Gonzales, a Republican attorney general who served under the W Bush administration, the former Illinois representative Adam Kinzinger, as well as Trumps former press secretary Stephanie Grisham and communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

The US is still not prepared for inevitable Russian attacks on its elections, the former special counsel Robert Mueller, who investigated Russian interference in 2016 and links between Donald Trump and Moscow warns

Mueller continues: As we detailed in our report, the evidence was clear that the Russian government engaged in multiple, systematic attacks designed to undermine our democracy and favor one candidate over the other.

It is evident that Americans have not learned the lessons of Russias attack on our democracy in 2016, Mueller writes in a preface to Interference: The Inside Story of Trump, Russia and the Mueller Investigation by Aaron Zebley, James Quarles and Andrew Goldstein, prosecutors who worked for Mueller from 2017 to 2019.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...00&height=1045

That candidate was Trump, the Republican who beat the Democrat, Hillary Clinton, for the White House.

We were not prepared then, Mueller writes, and, despite many efforts of dedicated people across the government, we are not prepared now. This threat deserves the attention of every American. Russia attacked us before and will do so again.

Zebley, Quarles and Goldstein tell the story of the Mueller investigation, from its beginnings in May 2017 after Trump fired the FBI director, James Comey, to its conclusion in March 2019 with moves by William Barr, Trumps second attorney general, to obscure and dismiss Muellers findings.

Talking Points Memo founder John Marshall commented: "Trump kingpin Jason Miller gives the thumbs up to states that want to set up full menstrual surveillance departments"

Marshall added, "JD Vance is a major Menstrual Surveillance proponent. But the Trump camp has been fairly good and at avoiding the issue. This explicit green light from Miller changes that. Walz should definitely bring this up at his debate with Johnny Donuts and Harris campaign should pounce generally."

'They Had a Headache': TRUMP Dismisses Brain Injuries of US Soldiers From Iran Strike

Iran Strike - 34 US Troops Diagnosed With Brain Injuries After Trump Dismissed Them As Headaches

TRUMP dismissed the injuries of U.S. soldiers who were caught in a 2020 missile attack by Iran on an American military installation, while he fielded questions from reporters at his latest campaign event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Something's Broke in Trumps Brain

According to the Pentagon, 34 US troops had been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries. The US service members suffered these injuries following the Iranian missile attack on US forces in Iraq on 8 Jan.

According to the Pentagon spokesman, 17 of the 34 troops are still under medical observation.

Earlier in the day, the former president reacted to the news of strikes on Israel by Iran, by claiming that nothing of the sort could have happened if he were still in office.

Notably, Iran did the same thing during his presidency to American troops in retaliation for a U.S. operation that assassinated Iranian general Qasem Suleimani.

When confronted with this fact by a reporter, Trump downplayed the idea that U.S. troop casualties in the incident were a big deal.

"Do you believe that you should have been tougher on Iran after they had launched ballistic missiles in 2020 on U.S. forces in Iraq, leaving more than 100 soldiers injured" asked a reporter.

"So first of all, injured. What does injured mean?" said Trump. "You mean because they had a headache. Because the bombs never hit the fort. So, just so you understand, there was nobody ever tougher on Iraq.

They had no money with me, they would have made any deal with me. I would have had a deal made within literally, I would have had a deal made within one week after the election."

The troops who were wounded in the missile strike suffered considerably more than a headache, officials have said.

According to a Pentagon report at the time, 109 troops were injured, many of whom suffered traumatic brain injuries. Despite the report, Trump has insisted, "We suffered no casualties."

?Aging, potentially senile old man?: Trumps shocking 40-minute music sway at a rally? a sign of senility?

Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney was championed Tuesday after he nixed a new rule from pro-Trump election board members that he argued would result in Georgie voter's being "silenced."

Tristen Snell, a former New York prosecutor who successfully sued Trump University, called the ruling a loss for the Republican presidential nominee and former president. "Huge victory for democracy," Snell wrote. "Huge defeat for Trumps attempts to scuttle the election."

In his ruling, McBurney found certification of election results were mandatory under Georgia law and no election board ?may refuse to certify or abstain from certifying election results under any circumstances," reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

?Georgia voters would be silenced,? McBurney wrote. ?Our Constitution and our election code do not allow for that to happen.?

Gabriel Sterling, conservative chief operating officer for Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, heralded the decision as the right one."Great news! "Another step in keeping to guardrails in place to safeguard our elections.

Election lawyer Marc Elias described the decision as "a big defeat for election deniers in Georgia."

Carrie Levine, managing editor of the nonpartisan news outlet VoteBeat, shared the news with followers with a gentle jab at the Fulton County judge, whose ruling included a "Lord of the Rings" quotation, "You shall not pass!"

"A judge today ruled that county boards of election in Georgia must certify elections, full stop," Levine wrote. "He quoted Gandalf...so make of that what you will."

Exhausted Confused TRUMP Cancels Virtual Roundtable

Allegation references LinkedIn post saying 100 party staffers were headed to US to campaign for Harris

There is no evidence the Labour Party had made any contributions to the Democratic campaign - something that is prohibited under US law.

Donald Trumps campaign team has called for an investigation into what it claimed was "blatant foreign interference" in the election by the Labour Party.

The complaint to the US federal electoral commission claimed there had been "interference" in the "form of apparent illegal foreign national contributions made by the Labour Party of the UK" which had been "accepted" by Kamala Harris's campaign.

It references a Washington Post report that suggested "strategists linked to Britain's Labour Party have been offering advice to Kamala Harris about how to earn back disaffected voters and run a winning campaign from the centre left".

It also mentions a Telegraph report that suggested Morgan McSweeney, Sir Keir Starmer's chief of staff, and Matthew Doyle, his director of communications, "attended a convention in Chicago and met with Ms Harris's campaign team".

But some of Mr Trumps allies have nevertheless taken issue with Labour Party staff volunteering on Ms Harris's campaign, even though this is permitted under US law as long as the said volunteers are not compensated for their work.

TRUMPs Anger Vitriol Threats-Calls Harris The Antichrist in Madison Square Rally

TRUMP Fills Madison Square Garden With Anger, Vitriol and Racist Threats

He Labelled Puerto Rico a Floating Island of Garbage & Called Vice President Kamala Harris The Antichrist?.

The Guardian 28 OCT 2024

Marking final stretch of campaign in New York, Trump and cabal of surrogates attack Harris and mock Puerto Rico

Anger and vitriol took center stage at New Yorks Madison Square Garden on Sunday night, as Donald Trump and a cabal of campaign surrogates held a rally marked by racist comments, coarse insults, and dangerous threats about immigrants.

Nine days out from the election, Trump used the rally in New York to repeat his claim that he is fighting the enemy within and again promised to launch the largest deportation program in American history, amid incoherent ramblings about ending a phone call with a very, very important person so he could watch one of Elon Musks rockets land.

The event at Madison Square Garden, in the center of Manhattan, had drawn comparisons to an infamous Nazi rally held at the arena in 1939. Tim Walz, Kamala Harris running mate, said there was a direct parallel between the two events, and the Democratic National Committee projected images on the outside of the building on Sunday repeating claims from Trumps former chief-of-staff that Trump had praised Hitler

There was certainly a dark tone throughout the hours-long rally, with one speaker describing Puerto Rico, home to 3.2m US citizens, as an island of garbage; Tucker Carlson mocking Harris racial identity; a radio host describing Hillary Clinton as a sick bastard; and a crucifix-wielding friend of Trumps declaring that Harris is the antichrist

Ballot boxes in Oregon and Washington were set on fire with incendiary devices early Monday in what authorities believe are connected incidents, police said.

The two arson incidents, which occurred near the Oregon-Washington border, are also believed to be connected to a third ballot box incident that occurred earlier this month in Vancouver, Washington, police said.

The FBI is investigating fires that were deliberately set in drop ballot boxes in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. The sabotaging of ballots is something federal officials are warning about in a new bulletin.

Supreme Court REJECTS Republican Bid to BLOCK Provisional Ballots in Pennsylvania

Supreme Court REJECTS Republican Bid to BLOCK Provisional Ballots in Pennsylvania

The supreme court on Friday rejected an emergency appeal from Republicans that could have led to thousands of provisional ballots not being counted in Pennsylvania, the Associated Press reports.

The justices left in place a state supreme court ruling that elections officials must count provisional ballots cast by voters whose mail-in ballots were rejected.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=666

The court rejected the Republican Partys emergency request to intervene after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court said voters should be able to cast provisional ballots if they failed to encase an absentee ballot in the required secrecy sleeve.

As of Thursday, about 9,000 ballots out of more than 1.6 million returned have arrived at elections offices around Pennsylvania lacking a secrecy envelope, a signature or a date, according to state records.

The high court order follows Wednesdays order permitting a GOP-backed purge of Virginia voter rolls ahead of Election Day. The Virginia order was entered over dissent from the courts three Democratic appointees.

In the Pennsylvania case, the state Supreme Court split 4-3 in upholding a lower court ruling that required the counting of provisional ballots submitted by voters who are told their mail ballots cant be counted.

?Provisional ballots exist as a failsafe to preserve access to the right to vote, the state court said, noting that such ballots can only be counted if no other ballots from a voter are counted.

?The General Assembly wrote the Election Code with the purpose of enabling citizens to exercise their right to vote, not for the purpose of creating obstacles to voting,? the state court majority said.

In a joint statement, spokespeople for the Democratic Party and Vice President Kamala Harris campaign said Republicans have been trying to make it harder for votes to count in Pennsylvania and across the country.

But the Supreme Courts decision, said Rosemary Boeglin and Michael Tyler, confirms that, for every eligible voter, the right to vote means the right to have your vote counted.

A key swing state, Pennsylvania was decided by about 80,000 votes in Joe Bidens 2020 victory over Donald Trump and by about 44,000 votes in Trumps 2016 win over Hillary Clinton. The 2024 race between Trump and Kamala Harris is also expected to be close.

Pennsylvania is the biggest presidential election battleground this year, with 19 electoral votes.
