Since the 2016 presidential campaign, the question of whether it’s appropriate to compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler has come up repeatedly.

Trump has used a slogan popularized by Nazi sympathizers, dined with antisemites, evoked white supremacist tropes, and demonized the press and his political foes as the “enemy of the people,” to cite just a few examples of his allegedly Nazi-like behavior.

Plus, days before the Capitol riot, the nation’s top general, Mark Milley, reportedly warned aides that America was facing a “Reichstag moment” because Trump was preaching “the gospel of the Führer” with his stolen-election lies.

When people point out that this is all a little too Hitler-y for comfort, they’re often told they’re being hysterical. However, it’s getting harder to deny that Trump is using Nazi rhetoric. Last month, Trump said undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

In Mein Kampf, Hitler repeatedly described Jews and migrants as “poisons” to the “blood” of Germany and the Aryan race. Trump’s remark generated a few headlines but largely flew under the radar as it came 37 minutes into a video interview with the obscure right-leaning website the National Pulse.

https://media.giphy.com/media/3o84TR...DiVO/giphy.gif

Over the weekend, Trump used some Nazi terminology in a far more high-profile setting. During a Veterans Day speech on Saturday, he told a crowd in Claremont, New Hampshire, that his political enemies are “like vermin.”

Both Hitler and Italy’s Benito Mussolini compared their enemies to rodents during their rise to power in the 1920s and 1930s. Trump said:

'Today, especially, in honor of our great veterans on Veterans Day, we pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country — that lie and steal and cheat on elections and will do anything possible. They’ll do anything, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America and to destroy the American Dream.

The real threat is not from the racial right; the real threat is from the radical left, and it’s growing every day. Every single day. The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within.

Because if you have a capable, competent, smart, tough leader — Russia, China, North Korea — they’re not going to want to play with us'

It seems clear from the video that Trump was reading from his prepared remarks, not ad-libbing:

TRUMP Isn’t Merely Unhinged. Many of his recent statements illustrate a profoundly un-American set of ideas.

The biggest danger the world faces in 2024 is if former President Donald Trump is elected to a second term, according to The Economists’ guide to The World Ahead.

In the 38 years since the predictive guide was first published, “no single person has ever eclipsed our analysis as much as Donald Trump eclipses 2024,” the article begins. It goes on to ponder what a Trump victory would mean for the world and claims that parliaments and boardrooms the world over are filled with “despair” at what may come:

A second Trump term would be a watershed in a way the first was not. Victory would confirm his most destructive instincts about power. His plans would encounter less resistance. And because America will have voted him in while knowing the worst, its moral authority would decline. The election will be decided by tens of thousands of voters in just a handful of states. In 2024 the fate of the world will depend on their ballots.

Trump would move his MAGA Republican allies into “the most important positions” in government, the article predicts, and Trump would be “unbound in his pursuit of retribution, economic protectionism and theatrically extravagant deals.”

The article posts that a Trump win would signal to China that American democracy is “dysfunctional,” and could give the communist nation the incentive to invade its island neighbor, Taiwan. In addition, the article predicts that Trump’s desire to quickly end the war in Ukraine would give Vladimir Putin the impetus to take over other neighboring countries like Moldova and the Baltic states.

The guide’s look ahead to 2023, was more optimistic about the presidential elections.

“Whoever ends up dispatching Donald Trump, at long last, will determine that future,” wrote columnist James Bennet. “Will it be a primary opponent? Or, in the general election of 2024, will it be President Joe Biden, or a Democrat representing a new direction for the party?”

But this year’s article resigns itself to the possibility that no one will end up “dispatching” Trump.

“That a TRUMP victory next November is a coin-toss probability is beginning to sink in,” the article concedes...

Many of TRUMPs’ Most Dangerous Statements Hide in The Plain Light of Day.

The problem is not that they don’t get reported on—they do—but even so, they are easy to tune out, perhaps because he’s been saying outlandish things for so long that people simply can’t bring themselves to parse the new ones; or perhaps because they’ve become accustomed, or at least numb, to his utterances

Or perhaps because they don’t want to let him occupy their headspace; or perhaps because he got kicked off Twitter (now X) and they had no interest in joining Truth Social.

Or maybe it’s because the more sinister material gets mixed up with his strange elocutions (“We’re gonna have a great country—it’s gonna be called the United States of America”), contrarian hot takes ..

(“You know, Hezbollah is very smart. They’re all very smart”), and gibberish (“All of these indictments that you see—I was never indicted. Practically never heard the word. It wasn’t a word that registered”).

Whatever the case may be, Trump has continued to make plainly dangerous and stunning remarks. Notwithstanding his rival Governor Ron DeSantis’s recent claim that Trump has “lost the zip on his fastball,” the former president continues to produce substantive ideas—which is not to say they are wise or prudent, but they are certainly more than gibberish.

In fact, much of what Trump is discussing is un-American, not merely in the sense of being antithetical to some imagined national set of mores, but in that his ideas contravene basic principles of the Constitution or other bedrock bases of American government.

Trumps’ talk of seeking to ‘weaponize’ the DoJ and ‘retribution’ for opponents poses a direct threat to the rule of law and democracy in the US should he win a second term

BBC 22 NOV 2023

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/dfe33...5&dpr=1&s=none

Trump arrives to speak at a campaign rally in Claremont, New Hampshire, on 11 November.

Trumps talk of punishing his critics and seeking to “weaponize” the US justice department against his political opponents has experts and former DoJ officials warning he poses a direct threat to the rule of law and democracy in the US.

Trumps talk of seeking “retribution” against foes, including some he’s branded “vermin”, has coincided with plans that Maga loyalists at rightwing thinktanks are assembling to expand the president’s power and curb the DoJ, the FBI and other federal agencies. All of it has fueled critics’ fears that in a second term Trump would govern as an unprecedentedly authoritarian American leader.

Trump is currently the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination for 2024 and has long maintained hefty polling leads over his party rivals. At the same time a slew of recent polls has also shown him ahead of president Joe Biden, including in key battleground states.

But scholars and ex-justice officials see increasing evidence that if they achieved power again Trump and his Maga allies plan to tighten his control at key agencies and install trusted loyalists in top posts at the DoJ and the FBI, permitting Trump more leeway to exact revenge on foes, and shrinking agencies Trump sees as harboring “deep state” critics.

Ominously, Trump has threatened to tap a special prosecutor to “go after” Biden and his family.

Trump’s angry mindset was revealed on Veterans Day when he denigrated foes as “vermin” who needed to be “rooted out”, echoing Fascist rhetoric from Italy and Germany in the 1930s.

“I’m hard pressed to find any candidates anywhere who are so open that they would use the power of the state to go after critics and enemies,” said Steven Levitsky, a Harvard government professor and co-author of How Democracies Die.

Donald Ayer, the former deputy attorney general who served in the George HW Bush administration, said: “It is appalling that a presidential candidate could suggest using the Department of Justice to go after his political adversaries, to go after Biden and his family, and to effectively make the Department of Justice an arm of the White House to be used for its political purposes.”

Facing 91 criminal charges in four cases including 17 for his efforts to overturn his loss in 2020, Trump has kept up a barrage of incendiary attacks on prosecutors, judges and critics, claiming he’s innocent of all charges and the victim of politically driven “witch-hunts”.

Trump’s revenge game plan has been palpable for months. At a kickoff campaign rally in Texas in March, Trump warned: “Either the deep state destroys America or we destroy the deep state,” and vowed that “for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

https://tse2.explicit.bing.net/th?id...=Api&P=0&h=180

Similarly, Trump pledged to a CPAC gathering in March that: “I am your warrior. I am your justice,” and called 2024 “the final battle”.

On Veterans Day, Trump also warned: “The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous and grave than the threat from within.”

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/7dbd3...5&dpr=1&s=none

Trump has also told some associates he wants to launch probes into a few top former allies turned critics, including the ex-attorney general William Barr, the former chief of staff John Kelly and the ex-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen Mark Milley

“US, democratic institutions are hard to kill,” noted Levitsky. “But Trump and people around him are better prepared this time. Trump learned he needs to purge and pack an administration with his loyalists.”

“Autocrats have to take state institutions and pack them. Trump has learned from experience which makes him more dangerous.”

Other scholars voice mounting concerns about a second Trump presidency.

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/e09ac...5&dpr=1&s=none

“This is one of the most openly authoritarian campaigns I’ve ever seen.

You have to go back to the far-right authoritarians in the 1930s in Europe or in 1970s Latin America to find the kind of dehumanizing and violent language that Trump is starting to consistently use.”

Colorado Supreme Court Kicks TRUMP Off Ballot Due to 6 January 'Insurrection'

Colorado Supreme Court Rules Donald Trump Ineligible For The US Presidency

BBC 20 DEC 2023

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/P_...75cf3782f51dcf

Colorados' Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump cannot run for president next year in the state, citing a constitutional insurrection clause.

In a landmark decision, the court ruled 4-3 that Trump is not an eligible candidate.

It is the first time that Section 3 of the US Constitution's 14th Amendment has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate.

Several attempts to kick Mr Trump off the ballot in other states have failed.

Tuesday's decision - which has been placed on hold pending appeal until next month - does not apply to states outside Colorado.

The ruling only applies to the state's primary election on 5 March, when Republican voters will choose their preferred candidate for president, though it could have an effect on the general election in November.

The justices wrote in their ruling: "We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us.

"We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach."

The decision reverses an earlier one from a Colorado judge, who ruled that the 14th Amendment's insurrection ban did not apply to presidents because the section does not explicitly name them.

That same lower court judge also found that Mr Trump had participated in an insurrection in the 2021 US Capitol riot. His supporters stormed Congress on that day while lawmakers were certifying President Joe Biden's election victory.

The Colorado Supreme Court's decision does not go into effect until at least 4 January 2024. That is the eve of the deadline for the state to print its presidential primary ballots.

In a statement, Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, called the ruling "completely flawed" and lambasted the justices, who were all appointed by Democratic governors.

"Democrat Party leaders are in a state of paranoia over the growing, dominant lead President Trump has amassed in the polls," Mr Cheung said.

"They have lost faith in the failed Biden presidency and are now doing everything they can to stop the American voters from throwing them out of office next November."

Mr Cheung added that Mr Trump's legal team would "swiftly file an appeal" to the US Supreme Court, where conservatives hold a 6 to 3 majority.

Representatives for Mr Biden's re-election campaign declined to comment on the Colorado ruling. But a senior Democrat affiliated with the campaign told CBS News, the BBC's US partner, that the decision would help Democrats by supporting their argument that the US Capitol riot was an attempted insurrection.

The source said it would also aid Democrats in showcasing "the stark differences" between Mr Trump and Mr Biden.

Republican lawmakers condemned the decision, including House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson, who called it "a thinly veiled partisan attack".

"Regardless of political affiliation, every citizen registered to vote should not be denied the right to support our former president and the individual who is the leader in every poll of the Republican primary," he said.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (Crew), the group that brought the case, welcomed the ruling.

"It is not only historic and justified, but is necessary to protect the future of democracy in our country," the group's president, Noah Bookbinder, said in a statement.

Similar lawsuits in New Hampshire, Minnesota and Michigan have failed.

The 14th Amendment was ratified after the American Civil War. Section 3 was intended to block secessionists from returning to previous government roles once southern states re-joined the Union.

It was used against Confederate president Jefferson Davis and his vice-president Alexander Stephens, both of whom had served in Congress. It has seldom been invoked since.

Mr Trump lost the state of Colorado by a wide margin in the last presidential election. But if courts in more competitive states followed suit on Tuesday's ruling, Mr Trump's White House bid could face serious problems.

During a one-week trial in Colorado last month, the former president's lawyers argued he should not be disqualified because he did not bear responsibility for the US Capitol riot.

But in its Tuesday ruling, the Colorado Supreme Court majority disagreed.

They said Mr Trump's messages before the riot were "a call to his supporters to fight and… his supporters responded to that call".

Carlos Samour, one of three justices who dissented, argued the government could not "deprive someone of the right to hold public office without due process of law".

"Even if we are convinced that a candidate committed horrible acts in the past - dare I say, engaged in insurrection - there must be procedural due process before we can declare that individual disqualified from holding public office," he wrote.

Mr Trump is facing four criminal cases, including one federal and one state case in Georgia related to his alleged election subversion efforts.

What The Colorado Ruling Means For TRUMP

A landmark ruling in Colorado on Tuesday found Donald Trump ineligible to hold office under the US Constitution’s insurrection clause because he incited a riot on January 6 – and the justices voted to remove him from the state’s ballot in next year’s primary race.

While it sounds like a potential dagger to the former president’s 2024 election hopes, it is unlikely the Colorado Supreme Court will do much to hinder the Republican frontrunner.

Mr Trump’s campaign has already vowed to appeal the decision to the US Supreme Court, whose 6-3 conservative majority includes three Trump appointees.

It will set up a showdown in the US’s highest court to decide whether Mr Trump can stay in the race for the GOP nomination.

While it is unlikely the country’s highest court will uphold the ruling, even if it does, it would only impact Mr Trump’s election chances if high-stakes states used it as a blueprint to follow suit.

Mr Trump has a strong poll lead over Joe Biden in many of the vital swing states, including Arizona, Florida and Pennsylvania.

The risk in Colorado itself is low for Mr Trump, 77, given he lost by 13 percentage points in 2020 and does not need the state to win next year’s election.

The danger lies in whether more courts and election officials could follow the state’s lead and exclude Mr Trump from the ballot in must-win states.

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/_Q...23afacf2269fd9

TRUMPS' supporters clash with police on January 6, 2021

Dozens of similar lawsuits filed across the country have raised the same argument, though several have already been dismissed by state courts, such as in Minnesota.

Derek Muller, a Notre Dame law professor who has closely followed the Section 3 cases, said the ruling is “a major threat to Trump’s candidacy” and could “embolden other state courts or secretaries to act now that the bandage has been ripped off”.

Given how Mr Trump’s criminal indictments have so far only increased support for the former president, who has claimed he is being unfairly targeted, it is likely this ruling will bolster support from his fanbase.

Mr Trump’s campaign has already pointed to the fact that the Colorado Supreme Court’s justices were all appointed by Democratic governors.

Also, both groups who have brought the legal challenges are financed by liberal donors who support Mr Biden.

While Mr Trump’s Republican rivals could use this as an opportunity to claim the frontrunner is too much of a liability to be the GOP nominee, they have already started to fall in line behind Mr Trump.

On Tuesday, Vivek Ramaswamy volunteered to pull his name off Colorado’s March 5 Republican primary ballot in protest.

“I pledge to *withdraw* from the Colorado GOP primary unless Trump is also allowed to be on the state’s ballot, and I demand that Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley to do the same immediately - or else they are tacitly endorsing this illegal maneuver which will have disastrous consequences for our country,” he wrote on Twitter.

The Colorado Republican Party has threatened to nix the states' planned primary election if Donald Trumps name isn't allowed on the ballot, replacing it with a caucus instead after a bombshell state supreme court ruling.

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/12...3111812703.jpg

The state GOP issued the threat on X after Trump competitor Vivek Ramaswamy threatened to try to take his own name off the ballot in protest.

The threat came during the continuing fallout of the dramatic Colorado Supreme Court ruling barring TRUMP from the ballot under the 14th Amendment's clause on people who have committed 'insurrection' against the U.S.

Even one of the justices serving the state's highest court said in opposing the decision that there was no 'due process', warned it would cause chaos and said he has 'never seen anything like it' in his legal career.

Democrats have won Colorado in the last four general elections and Biden was victorious by 13 points in the state that will have 10 electoral college votes in 2024.

But the result in the Republican primary will still be crucial in deciding who will be on the ticket next November.

Colorado's Republican Party responded when Ramaswamy threatened to pull his name off the ballot and urged rivals Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis and Chris Christie to do the same.

'You won't have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand,' the party tweeted.

State GOP chair Dave Williams told NBC News, 'We're at the mercy of the U.S. Supreme Court' and that the state was 'figuring it out as we go.'

'But we'll make our preparations to convert to a caucus while this is all playing out. And if it [a Supreme Court ruling] does not go in our favor, we'll plan to do a caucus. But if it does go in our favor, then nothing will change.'

It is not clear that the state party would be able to pull off such a move. Coloradans voted to switch to a primary in 2019. It would require sign-off from the national GOP, where Trump has outsized influence, but would require state support and might need to overcome a court challenge.

The office of Colorado's Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswold, who is ordered in the ruling not to put Trumps name on the ballot, would not likely go along with the new scheme.

'Colorado law does not allow a presidential primary election to be cancelled at the request of a political party,' said Jack Todd, a Griswold spokesman.

'If the Colorado Republican Party attempts to withdraw from the presidential primary or ignore the results of the election, this would likely be a matter for the courts,' he said.

TRUMPS' Former Aides WARN of DANGER If Ex-President is Re-Elected and NOT STOPPED - Could End US Democracy

Sarah Matthews, Cassidy Hutchinson and Alyssa Farah Griffin insist TRUMPS' behaviour would be worse if he wins second term

The Guardian 1 JAN 2024

https://images.saymedia-content.com/...p-revealed.jpg

The re-election of Donald Trump in 2024 could “end American democracy as we know it”, according to three women who worked for him in the White House during his chaotic term in office.

“People in general have short memories, and might forget the chaos of the Trump years,” Sarah Matthews, a former deputy White House press secretary who resigned on the day of the deadly Capitol riot, said on ABC’s This Week.

All three gave testimony to the US House committee investigating Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat as well as the 6 January 6 Capitol attack staged by his supporters. And they warned in an unprecedented television interview on Sunday that time was short to prevent a second Trump administration in which they insist his behavior would be much worse.

“They also might not just be paying attention to what he’s saying now – and the threat to democracy that exists. It does really concern me if he makes it to the general [election] that he could win. I’m still hopeful that we can defeat him in the primaries, but we’re running out of time.”

Matthews was joined in the interview by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, a key witness against Trump during the House committee’s public hearings in 2022, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, his former communications director, who said she dreaded him returning to office.

“Fundamentally, a second Trump term could mean the end of American democracy as we know it, and I don’t say that lightly,” Griffin said.

“We all witnessed him trying to steal a democratic election before and go into historic and unconstitutional lengths to do so. That just shows he’s willing to basically break every barrier to get into power and to stay into power.

“What scares me as much as him and his retribution is the almost cult-like following he has, the threats, the harassment, the death threats that you get when he targets you, is really horrifying and has no place in our American discourse.”

About two days before the interview aired, someone placed a fake emergency call to police that prompted armed officers to arrive at the home of Maine’s secretary of state, Shenna Bellows, after she removed Trump from the state’s presidential primary under the US constitution’s insurrection clause. Bellows was not home when the attempted “swatting” call was made.

Hutchinson, ex-aide to Trumps chief of staff Mark Meadows, said voters needed to believe Trump when he said he would be a dictator on his first day back in the White House.

“The fact that he feels that he needs to lean into being a dictator alone shows that he is a weak and feeble man,” she said.

Matthews, meanwhile, said Trump had already signaled what his second administration would look like.

“We don’t need to speculate because we already saw it play out,” she said.

“To this day, he still doubles down on the fact that he thinks that the election was stolen and fraudulent. And his rhetoric has just gotten increasingly erratic.

He’s literally called for things like doing away with parts of the constitution, [and] wanting to weaponize the department of justice to enact revenge on his political enemies.

TRUMPS’ Second Term Plans...

As we enter 2024, all eyes will be on the Iowa caucuses later this month to see if Republican voters have any appetite for moving on from former President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, the Republican frontrunner continues to make statements on the campaign trail that experts say sound increasingly authoritarian.

What should we make of the stark rhetoric? In this episode, we hear a conversation between Audie Cornish and Kristen Holmes about what exactly TRUMP has planned for a possible second term.

The US supreme court will hear Donald Trumps appeal of the Colorado ruling that he should be removed from the state ballot under the 14th amendment to the US constitution, for inciting an insurrection.

The court issued a brief order on Friday, setting up a dramatic moment in American history.

The case will be argued on 8 February. As the Republican presidential primary will then be well under way, with Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada having voted – and as Trump has also been disqualified from the ballot in Maine, a ruling appealed in state court – a quick decision is expected.

The Colorado primary is set for 5 March. The state government must begin mailing ballots to overseas voters on 20 January and to all others between 12 and 16 February. The ruling suspending Trump is stayed, however, as long as the supreme court appeal is ongoing.

In the year of a high-stakes presidential election, the case is set to move rapidly, under a fierce spotlight. Carl Tobias, a law professor at the University of Richmond, said that with “oral argument set for 8 February, the appeal will be extremely expedited … thus, briefs will probably be due as soon as possible, maybe [in] a week or 10 days for each side.”

The 14th amendment was approved after the civil war, meant to bar from office supporters of the rebel Confederate states. But it has rarely been used.

Cases against Trump were mounted after he was impeached but acquitted by the Senate over the attack on Congress by his supporters on 6 January 2021, then swiftly came to dominate the Republican presidential primary for 2024, all while maintaining the lie that his defeat by Joe Biden in 2020 was the result of electoral fraud.

Fourteenth-amendment challenges to Trump in other states have either failed or remain undecided.

The Colorado supreme court ruled against Trump on 19 December but stayed the ruling until 4 January, pending appeal. That appeal came earlier this week, Trump’s lawyers arguing that only Congress could arbitrate such disputes and saying the relevant text in the 14th amendment – in section 3 – did not apply to the presidency or vice-presidency as they are not mentioned therein.

ABC News has reported debates from the passage of the amendment, in 1866, in which the presidency was said to be covered.

Prominent legal scholars including Laurence Tribe of Harvard and the retired conservative judge J Michael Luttig have said Trump should be disqualified from seeking the presidency under the 14th amendment.

Luttig, who testified memorably before the House January 6 committee, called the Colorado ruling “historic … a monumental decision of constitutional law … masterful and … unassailable”. He has also said the US supreme court ruling will be “arguably … the single most important constitutional decision in all of our history”.

Other voices, including conservative lawyers and professors and all Trump’s major opponents for the Republican nomination, have questioned whether section 3 applies to the presidency, or to someone not convicted of insurrection. Most (and some senior Democrats) have also said the Colorado ruling is anti-democratic, because only voters should decide Trump’s fitness for office.

Luttig has countered such arguments, saying: “The 14th amendment itself, in section 3, answers the question whether disqualification is ‘anti-democratic’, declaring that it is not. Rather, it is the conduct that gives rise to disqualification that is anti-democratic, per the command of the constitution.”

TRUMP also faces extensive legal jeopardy: he faces 91 criminal charges under four indictments, 17 concerning election subversion, and civil threats including cases over his business affairs and a defamation suit arising from an allegation of rape a judge said was “substantially true”.

Nonetheless, he leads Republican polling by vast margins. Were the supreme court to rule against him in the Colorado case, the US would find itself in uncharted waters.

On Friday, Steven Cheung, Trump’s spokesperson, said the campaign welcomed “a fair hearing at the supreme court to argue against the bad-faith, election-interfering, voter-suppressing, Democrat-backed and Biden-led, 14th amendment abusing decision” in Colorado.

Cheung also claimed the Colorado case and others like it were “part of a well-funded effort by leftwing political activists hell-bent on stopping the lawful re-election of President Trump this November, even if it means disenfranchising voters”.

Writing on his blog, Richard Hasen, an election law professor at the University of Los Angeles, California, pointed to uncertainties about how the supreme court case will unfold, given what he called a “blob” of a filing from Trump’s lawyers, while saying lawyers for Colorado “raised three questions, which somewhat overlap with Trump’s claims”.

“This seems like it could be a free-for-all in arguments and briefing,” Hasen wrote, adding: “Buckle up; it’s going to be a wild ride from here on out.”

That seems assured. The supreme court is not just dominated 6-3 by rightwingers who have delivered historic rulings including removing the federal right to abortion. It includes three justices installed when Trump was president.

On Thursday, a Trump lawyer, Alina Habba, caused controversy when she told Fox News one such appointee, Brett Kavanaugh, would now “step up” for the man who put him on the court.

Controversy also surrounds Clarence Thomas, the longest-serving justice whose wife, the rightwing activist Ginni Thomas, was involved in Trump’s election subversion.

On Friday, Christina Harvey, executive director of the progressive advocacy group Stand Up America, said Thomas should not take part in the Colorado case.

“The American people deserve a fair and impartial review … free from any conflicts of interest,” Harvey said. “Justice Thomas’s continued refusal to recuse himself from this case and others related to the efforts to overthrow the 2020 election … raises questions about the integrity of the judicial process and the influence of political bias.

“As trust in the supreme court reaches new lows, decisions like these only reinforce Americans’ belief that supreme court justices are politicians in robes.

Don TRUMP Jr. Makes Pitch For OWN Run For President in 2028 & Warns of Plot to 'SUPPRESS Vote' For TRUMP

Don Jr. is helping set up a potential future argument of fraud in the 2024 Iowa caucus by claiming those pushing his father's massive polling lead are really looking to 'suppress the vote.'

Daily Mail 16 JAN 2024

https://bloximages.chicago2.vip.town...ize=1200%2C949

https://i.imgflip.com/1s9u4q.jpg

During a final bid to Iowa Republicans just hours before the caucuses on Monday, the ex-president's eldest son and his fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle delivered remarks to supporters in Ankney, Iowa.

Trump Jr., serving as the top surrogate for Trump's campaign in Iowa, was asked by an audience member whether he would consider a presidential run in 2028 – a potential that he didn't completely rule-out.

He took particular issues with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' 2024 bid, slamming his father's competitor for his footwear choice and his loss of 'billionaire donors.'

'I see exactly what's happening right now,' Don Jr. said to a room of Iowans at Whisky River restaurant in Ankeny, Iowa just hours before the caucus commenced on Monday.

'They're trying desperately to suppress the vote by saying we have it in the bag,' he said. 'When you see these games, whatever happened over the last 48 hours… There's always going to be something. There's always a scheme. And that includes our side.'

He continued: 'At this point in time we understand it's actually the D.C. elite versus Trump. You see that from the Republicans involved, you see that from the billionaire donors disappearing from Ron DeSantis' campaign because they realize he doesn't have it.'

Polling released two nights before the caucus from the NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll in Iowa showed Trump walking away with 48 percent support.

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley came in second with 20 percent – while DeSantis dropped to third place with 16 percent.

But Trump and his oldest son are now claiming that those pushing that narrative of a predicted big win are trying to suppress the ex-president's supporters and encourage them not to caucus on Monday evening.

The frigid temperatures, icy roads and surging negative 40-degree windchill has resulted in speculation that Trump supporters might stay home because they believe he has enough backing to win without everyone showing up.

But Trump and his surrogates have urged supporters not to give into that thought-process.

Florida governor was given internal polling showing him facing a crushing defeat in South Carolina where he had focused all his resources - and told he had no path to the White House

Ron DeSantis had given up on New Hampshire, turning his campaign towards the more conservative state of South Carolina.

But on Saturday, he was given internal polling data that showed he had no chance of winning the state and would finish far behind former President Donald Trump, according to two sources familiar with discussions.

His aides cancelled appearances on the Sunday morning shows as they debated what to do next.

And on Sunday afternoon, the Florida governor formally pulled the plug on his 2024 campaign.

'I can't ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources, if we don't have a clear path to victory,' he said.

TRUMP Orders Republicans to BLOCK New Border Bill That THEY Had Demanded

TRUMPS’ Dirty Tricks - says he hopes the U.S. economy crashes, all in an effort to boost his' re-election bid.

Senate Republicans blocked a bipartisan border package Wednesday, scuttling months of negotiations with Democrats on legislation intended to cut back record numbers of illegal border crossings.

Many Republicans said the election-year compromise wasn’t enough, even as supporters of the bill insisted it was the best possible in divided government.

The 49-50 vote, far short of the 60 ayes needed to take up the bill, came after most Republicans said they would vote against the legislation, which also includes $60 billion in wartime aid to Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel. GOP lawmakers had insisted that the money for conflicts abroad be paired with help for the U.S. border.

Forcing the showdown with Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said earlier that he would try to salvage the wartime funding, and would next push ahead on a crucial test vote for tens of billions of dollars for Kyiv, Israel and other U.S. allies — a modified package with the border portion stripped out.

It is unclear if enough Republicans will vote to move ahead with the standalone legislation for the wartime aid, which also would need 60 votes in the 51-49 Senate. If it did pass, it would still take days for the Senate to reach a final vote.

2024 Election: TRUMP/Republicans' SHOCKING and Dangerous New Legal Strategy in Arizona

Republican Resolution Would Declare Trump The 2024 Winner, Regardless of What Voters Say

AP 18 FEB 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=932

A Republican state representative wants to completely invalidate the votes of Arizonans in the upcoming presidential election as a bargaining tool to force Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs to agree to a Republican wishlist of election reforms.

Rep. Rachel Jones, of Tucson, is the sponsor of House Concurrent Resolution 2055, a declaration saying that the state legislature already has the power — via the U.S. Constitution — to pre-appoint Arizona’s electors for the 2024 presidential election, to ensure that they would vote for former President Donald Trump, regardless of the results of the popular vote.

The Legislature would then use the threat of ignoring the votes of millions of Arizonans to strong-arm Hobbs into signing an election reform bill that would eliminate early voting and allow only in-person voting and only on Election Day with no mail-in ballots, to be completely counted by hand.

Hobbs would not have the power to veto the measure since the resolution does not have the power of law, but simply declares its backers’ intentions and what they already believe to be true, per federal law.

While the Republican members of the House Municipal Oversight and Elections Committee almost always vote along party lines to approve proposed legislation from their own party, Jones’ resolution went too far, even for them. Committee Chairwoman Jacqueline Parker, R-Mesa, opted not to take a vote on the resolution and to table discussion on it for the moment, after an impassioned debate among lawmakers and members of the public.

Rep. Alexander Kolodin, R-Scottsdale, said he did not believe the U.S. Supreme Court would side with the Arizona legislature if it decided to appoint electors to vote for Trump, regardless of the will of the voters. He added that passing this resolution would put a bullseye on Republicans for accusations of stealing the election from Democrats.

“Wouldn’t we be guilty of exactly what we accuse the other side of doing?” he asked. “Wouldn’t that be just as bad as what we imagine they have been doing?”

Josh Barnett, who sued then-Secretary of State Hobbs after he lost the Republican primary for Arizona’s first congressional district for U.S. House in August 2022, spoke passionately in favor of the resolution.

“Do you not think 2020 was illegally run?” Barnett asked the legislators. “I’m confused here.”

In the suit, which was rapidly dismissed, Barnett asked the judge to annul the results of the 2022 general election because it was “illegally run.”

Barnett also has a history of making posts to social media about the QAnon conspiracy theories.

Barnett was adamant that the 2020 general election in Arizona was illegally run, without providing any evidence, adding that Republicans had not accomplished any significant election reforms since then, and that he was sure the 2024 election would be illegally run as well.

When Rep. Justin Heap, R-Mesa, asked Barnett if he was really asking for the legislators to appoint electors to vote for Trump regardless of the will of the voters, Barnett answered that the voters elected a Republican majority in the Legislature and that means they want a conservative agenda.

Republicans have a slim one-vote majority in both the state House and Senate, and in 2022 voters elected Democrats to several of the state’s top offices, including governor, secretary of state and attorney general.

Barnett added that with Republicans in control of the Legislature there was no need for a presidential election this year.

Ruthee Goldkorn, a local activist, argued that the only illegal activity surrounding the 2020 election was the attempt in several states to use fake electors to supersede the will of the voters, who elected Democrat President Joe Biden.

“Why this bill is in conversation, I have no idea,” she said. “There’s no way on God’s green acres that this should ever come to fruition.”

Melissa Price, a former Carefree Town Council member, told the lawmakers that members of the public think the legislators don’t care enough to ensure a safe and secure election this year.

“This next election could change the course of our lives,” she said.

Price added that if the legislators couldn’t stomach disenfranchising the entire electorate, they could run their own separate presidential election on one day, with paper ballots and to be counted by hand.

Jones did not provide any conclusive reason that she believes the votes of Arizonans should not count — something she’s accused Democrats of doing behind the scenes for years — other than that many Republicans and some Democrats have lost faith in the elections system.

She also claimed that a recent trend toward more Democrats being elected into office in Arizona somehow indicated that the state’s elections are rigged or “maladministered.”

Some of Jones’ reasoning included that until 2020, Arizonans had not backed a Democrat for president since Harry Truman in 1948 — with the exception of Bill Clinton in 1996.

While this is true, demographics in the state have changed substantially over the past 20 years, and the state’s presidential elections have trended purple since 2000.

She added that George W. Bush won Arizona with a record vote gain of more than 300,000 votes and Trump surpassed that in 2020 with a gain of more than 400,000 votes, calling these “interesting anomalies” and implying that the numbers indicate fraud.

Jones’ thesis ignores the massive population increase from 2000 to 2020, with around 2 million people moving into the state, and the increase in voter turnout in the same timeframe.

The voter turnout for the 2000 presidential election in Arizona was almost 72%. That increased to 77% in 2004 and 80% in 2020.

Both Kolodin and Heap said they had misgivings about the resolution, with Kolodin saying if it were passed, it would guarantee that the Legislature would flip to Democratic control after the 2024 election.

Donald Trumps’ ‘slurred speech’ and ‘repeated errors’ shows he has cognitive decline ‘more apparent’ than Joe Biden’s, according to a professor.

For months, campaigners, pundits and uhm-and-erring voters have been grappling with the idea that either of the leading 2024 presidential candidates would be the oldest president in history by the end of their term.

Trump, meanwhile, is a not exactly spritely 77.

Supreme Court Says TRUMP Can Stay on 2024 Ballots But Ignores Insurrection Role

TRUMPS' Name Was Still Showing on The Ballots in Colorado Whilst Awaiting Supreme Court Decision

The US Supreme Court has determined that Donald Trump can remain on 2024 presidential election ballots across the country, marking a reversal of a landmark Colorado court decision that found him constitutionally ineligible because of his actions on January 6.

But the justices ignored the question at the heart of the case, which revolves around whether then-President Trump should be disqualified from holding office after he “engaged in insurrection” by fuelling a mob that stormed the US Capitol

The ruling did not include any discussion on the central premise of the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision, as well as decisions from officials in Illinois and Maine. The justices instead determined that only Congress – not states – has the authority to disqualify candidates for federal office.

A decision was unanimous, but the court’s three liberal justices sharply disagreed that only Congress can act, writing that the court’s conservative majority were attemptong “to insulate all alleged insurrectionists from future challenges to their holding federal office.”

“The Court has settled a politically charged issue in the volatile season of a Presidential election,” the liberal justices wrote in a concurring opinion. “Writings on the Court should turn the national temperature down, not up. For present purposes, our differences are far less important than our unanimity: All nine Justices agree on the outcome of this case. That is the message Americans should take home.”

The decision arrived on a day that the former president was initially scheduled to be tried on criminal charges stemming from his attempts to overturn 2020 results, culminating in his failure to stop the mob on January 6.

Smirking: Why Americas’ BIAS Judges Have Made TRUMP Gleeful - Delays in DC and Florida Trials

The former president is ‘jubilant’ after the supreme courts’ Colorado ruling and likely delays in DC and Florida

The Guardian 7 MAR 2024

Appearing on MSNBC's "Way Too Early," with host Jonathan Lemire, former Rep. Dave Jolly (R-FL) predicted Donald Trump is headed for a fall if he is on the ballot in November facing President Joe Biden.

Reading the tea leaves from Tuesday's "Super Tuesday," primary results, the former lawmaker pointed to Trump's glaring weakness with non-MAGA voters and independent voters who gave every indication he won't be able to gain their votes.

"Give us your brief assessment simply of what these primaries showed us about Trump's strengths and, more importantly, his weaknesses," host Lemire prompted his guest.

"I think Donald Trump is in a lot of trouble," Jolly bluntly replied.

"I mean, we look at the polls," he elaborated. "You see nationally he's up a few points over Joe Biden, we looked at the electoral map. The truth is, this coalition of soft Republicans and independents who have chosen Democrats over Republicans, they were there in '18, '20, '22. They're still there in '24."

"In '24, we actually have the motivating issues, like Dobbs and reproductive freedom that we didn't have in '16 and '20," he continued. "I think Donald Trump is in trouble. Ignore the polls for a minute. I would much rather be in Joe Biden's position today than Donald Trump's."

On The Docket: The SUPREME Court is Suddenly Making TRUMP ‘Jubilant’

https://ci3.googleusercontent.com/me...r=1&width=600&

Donald Trump: time to celebrate?

On Monday, Donald Trump did something he has rarely done in the past few months: he heaped praise on judges.

“I want to start by thanking the supreme court for its unanimous decision today,” he said in remarks at his Mar-a-Lago home, shortly after the US supreme court ruled that he was wrongly removed from Colorado’s primary ballot, in a decision that guarantees he’ll be able to appear on every state’s ballots this fall.

“It was a very important decision, very well crafted. I think it will go a long way toward bringing our country together, which our country needs.”

In the past week, judges have given Trump a lot to smile about.

The supreme court’s ruling that he can’t be removed from the ballot came just days after the same court decided to effectively delay his Washington DC federal election interference trial for months, possibly pushing it past election day and derailing the trial entirely. On Wednesday, the court announced that it would hear arguments for that case on 25 April – the absolute final day of the court’s calendar for oral arguments.

Guardian US reporter Hugo Lowell writes that Trump “has been jubilant” over the supreme court’s move, and has repeatedly raised the topic “every day since” it happened, according to people close to him.

On Friday, Trump smirked and smiled as he watched Judge Aileen Cannon, a judge in Florida he appointed to the federal bench who’s now overseeing his classified documents case, make clear she was in no rush to get that trial moving and was likely to delay its start date.

Cannon told prosecutors that one part of their proposed schedule was “unrealistic”, a sign she wouldn’t accept their proposed July trial date. And she declined to actually schedule anything during last Friday’s scheduling hearing – an unusual approach that charitably indicates the rookie judge is moving very deliberately through the process, and could even suggest she’s aiming to slow the trial down as much as possible.

2024 Election: Mike Pence Will NOT Endorse Donald Trumps’ Presidential Campaign

Former Indiana governor and candidate for Republican nomination tells Fox News decision ‘should come as no surprise’

Mike Pence will not endorse Donald Trump for president , the man he served as vice-president for four years but whose supporters chanted for Pence to be hanged as they attacked Congress on January 6.

“It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year,” the former Indiana governor and former candidate for the Republican presidential nomination told Fox News on Friday.

Asked why, given that he previously promised to endorse the eventual nominee, Pence mentioned 6 January 2021, the day a mob attacked Congress and Trump was reported to have told aides Pence “deserved” to be hanged for refusing to block certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election win.

But Pence placed more emphasis on policies pursued by Trump as he has secured the Republican nomination, a success achieved despite now facing 88 criminal charges under four indictments and suffering multimillion-dollar civil penalties over his business affairs and a rape allegation a judge called “substantially true”.

Pence said he was “incredibly proud of the record of our administration. It was a conservative record that made America more prosperous, more secure, and saw conservatives appointed to our courts in a more peaceful world.

“But that being said, during my presidential campaign” – which he ended in October, months before the first vote, in Iowa – “I made it clear that there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues, and not just our difference on my constitutional duties that I exercised on January 6.

“As I have watched his candidacy unfold, I’ve seen him walking away from our commitment to confronting the national debt. I’ve seen him starting to shy away from a commitment to the sanctity of human life.”

The US national debt ballooned under Trump and Pence.

On abortion rights, the supreme court to which Trump appointed three rightwingers did remove federal rights in 2022. But Republicans have since suffered a succession of election defeats as Democrats campaign on the issue.

As Trump claims credit for appointing those justices, Democrats are positioning to make reproductive rights a central issue in November.

Pence also cited Trump’s “reversal” on “getting tough on China and supporting our administration’s effort to force the sale of … TikTok”.

Pence refused to speculate on why Trump has come out against forcing the sale by ByteDance, TikTok’s China-based parent company.

He said: “What I can tell you is that in each of these cases, Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years.

“And that’s why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign.”

Most of Trump’s former rivals for the Republican nomination have now endorsed him. The last to drop out, the former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, has not.

Opponents of Trump welcomed Pence’s decision not to endorse.Adam Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican who retired from Congress over his opposition to Trump, said simply: “Good job Mike Pence.”

Bar Will Shut Down to Avoid Serving TRUMPS' Supporters During RNC

TRUMP Says There's Going to Be a BLOODBATH If He Doesn't get Elected

It's a Slaughter': Reporter Describes RNC Layoffs After TRUMP Takeover

MSNBC 17 MAR 2024

Milwaukee bar owner plans to temporarily shutter his establishment during the Republican National Convention (RNC) this summer to avoid serving supporters of former President Donald Trump.

The RNC will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15 to 18. After Trump reached the 1,215 delegates required to clinch the GOP presidential nomination on Tuesday, delegates are expected to formally select the former president as the Republican Party's nominee during the convention.

The Mothership, a ****tail bar on Logan Avenue in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, describes itself as a "stupid idiot booze dungeon" on Facebook and frequently shares colorful posts on the social media platform. While the convention is estimated to draw roughly 50,000 visitors to the city, the bar's owner and operator Ricky Ramirez wants nothing to do with the crowd.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Saturday, Ramirez said he grew up with a "kind of chip on my shoulder" regarding discrimination as the child of first-generation immigrants and living in a city that still deals with segregation. As many Republicans have embraced what critics decry as racist, anti-immigration rhetoric Ramirez told the outlet that "if there's an influx of those kinds of people, then I'd rather just be closed."
"I don't f****** care who comes into my bar on the norm, but it's such a heightened event where people are very proudly going to be confirming that Donald Trump's the nominee for the party again," he said.

TRUMP; 'There'll Be a BLOODBATH'

https://image.cnbcfm.com/api/v1/imag...h=523&vtcrop=y

TRUMP claimed that he — not President Joe Biden — will protect Social Security and warned of a “bloodbath” if he loses in November as he campaigned for Senate candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio.

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnnnext/dam...-super-169.jpg

Trump, speaking on a wind-whipped airfield outside of Dayton Saturday, praised his chosen candidate in the race as an “America first champion” and “political outsider who has spent his entire life building up Ohio communities.”

“He’s going to be a warrior in Washington,” Trump said, days after securing enough delegates to clinch the 2024 Republican nomination.

Moreno faces Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan in Tuesday’s GOP primary. LaRose and Moreno have aligned themselves with the pro-Trump faction of the party, while Dolan is backed by more establishment Republicans, including Gov. Mike DeWine and former Sen. Rob Portman.

Saturday’s rally was hosted by Buckeye Values PAC, a group backing Moreno’s candidacy. But Trump used the stage to deliver a profanity-filled version of his usual rally speech that again painted an apocalyptic picture of the country if Biden wins a second term.

“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath ... It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country,” he warned

...Later, Trump claimed that, “If this election isn’t won, I’m not sure that you’ll ever have another election in this country.”

Trump repeatedly noted his difficulty reading from his teleprompters, which could be seen visibly whipping in 35-mile-per-hour wind gusts.

A one-time Trump critic, Moreno, a wealthy Cleveland businessman, supported Marco Rubio for president in the 2016 Republican primary, and once tweeted that listening to Trump was “like watching a car accident that makes you sick, but you can stop looking.” In 2021, NBC News reported on an email exchange around the time of Trump’s first presidential run in which Moreno referred to Trump as a “lunatic” and a “maniac.”

On Saturday, however, Moreno praised Trump as a “great American” and railed against those in his party who have been critical of the former president, who this week became his party’s presumptive nominee for a third straight election.

TRUMPS' Campaign Hit With New Warning About Taking ILLEGAL Donations

Unprecedented Surge in 'Dirty' Money Floods 2024 Election

‘The big rip-off’: New reporting details TRUMPS' campaign donations paying his legal bills

MSNBBC 19 MAR 2024

Trumps’ presidential campaign received a 79-page inquiry from the Federal Election Commission this week about excessive contributions, which isn’t unusual for him — he’s received such warnings before.

But what’s notable are the numerous miniscule donations — as little as one cent — to the man who famously boasts about his wealth. Those donors still managed to exceed the federal limit of $3,300 per person to a candidate per election, federal regulators told the Trump campaign.

The FEC lists 48 people who went over the limit while giving to Donald J. Trump For President 2024, Inc. during January.

Many of the people donated frequently — in seemingly random amounts.

A donor listed as Robert Strawbridge, a retired man from Shenandoah, Texas, made 154 donations to Trump that ranged from two cents to nine cents from May 2023 to January 2024.

Including the pocket change, Strawbridge made 517 donations in all totaling $3,754 — in excess of federal limits.

Twice, he made 14 separate donations in a single day.

Strawbridge did not immediately return Raw Story’s message.

Three donors made a total of nine donations of one cent. They included Mary Carrier, a retired woman from Orlando, Fla., whose 68 donations included two for a penny and another for two cents. Her largest was $440.79. The total of $4,502 went well over the maximum.

The FEC’s letter to Trump noted 256 different donations under 10 cents and 682 donations under a dollar — all from people who also went over the $3,300 limit, according to the regulators.

Contributions that exceed federal limits are supposed to be refunded by a campaign — or redesignated by the donor from, say, a primary election to a general election.

In 2023 alone, shell companies and dark money groups injected over $162 million into political groups such as super PACs, surpassing the level of dark contributions seen at the same point in any prior election cycle, a new OpenSecrets analysis of Federal Election Commission data found.

The Trump campaign says it plans to change tactics from 2020 when Joe Biden beat the then-incumbent president by more than 7 million votes, and this time go on "offense" by having "soldiers" and "poll watchers" at polling places.

Despite the Trump campaigns' relentless claims of voter fraud, more than 60 court rulings found those claims to be unsupported by facts: there was no significant voter fraud.

Last year The Brookings Institution cited an extensive report from the right-wing Heritage Foundation, which found, for example, voter "fraud in Texas amounted to 0.000096% of all ballots cast."

US House in CHAOS as MORE Republicans Planning to QUIT

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=800

U.S. Speaker of the House Smarmy Mike Johnson

House Republicans who are planning to quit before the end of their terms could hand over control of the House to Democrats before elections take place, according to a Fox News reporter in a series of posts to X this Monday.

"Control of the House has never changed in the middle of a Congress. But if it’s going to happen, the 118th Congress is as ripe for that possibility," wrote Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram.

"House Republicans face chaos in their conference. Members who planned to retire next January are now ditching Capitol Hill early. The House is an acrimonious place with yet another move afoot to dethrone the Speaker," Pergram wrote, adding that some Republicans are "angling to get out as soon as they can" so they can land a "big payday in the private sector."

As Salon points out, New York GOP Rep. Claudia Tenney echoed those concerns during an interview with Fox News on this Monday.

“We can get a special election. It’s a very safe Republican seat. We’ll add to our majority. We don’t have the other special [election] to fill Kevin McCarthy’s seat until April 30th. And we’re perilous. We could end up being– having a Speaker Hakeem Jeffries in the interim here while we’re waiting for special elections,” Tenney said.

“Personally, if you’re going to make a commitment to the people that elect you, that you’re going to serve for two years unless you have a really good reason not to serve, then why would you do that? And aren’t we team Republican?” she added.

Pergram noted that "Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., resigned last Friday. Buck hit the door after refusing to vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc., also refused to impeach Mayorkas. Gallagher initially planned to stay until January."

"But now the Wisconsin Republican departs on April 19. That’s immediately after the date which mandates a special election in Wisconsin. But since Gallagher checks out in mid-April, the seat remains empty until after the election," Pergram wrote.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump stood to gain billions from money laundering

https://live-production.wcms.abc-cdn...862&height=575

Sprawling Money-Laundering Investigation

Last month, FED Prosecutors charged Michael Shvartsman, a close associate of Postolnikov, with money laundering in a superseding indictment after previously charging him and two others in July with insider-trading Digital World shares. Shvartsman and his co-defendants pleaded not guilty.

At least part of the evidence against Shvartsman came from a confidential informant for the DHS, court filings show: in one March 2023 meeting with the informant and an associate, Shvartsman mentioned a friend who owned a bank in Dominica and made bridge loans to Trump Media.

“[Shvartsman] stated that a friend of his owns a bank in the island of Dominica and would be able to provide banking services to Russian and Ukraine Nationals if the [confidential informant] had other clients in need of that service,” the DHS report said.

“[Shvartsman’s associate] told the [confidential informant] that he does not think the SEC would be able to go after [Shvartsman] for his part in the investment but mentioned that [Shvartsman] essentially provided ‘bridge financing’ for the firm behind the Truth Social media platform,” it said.

The unredacted parts of the DHS report do not specify whether the “friend” was Postolnikov and what the “bridge financing” referred to – but the report left open the possibility that Shvartsman also had a role with the trust.

A lawyer for Shvartsman declined to comment on his client’s relationship with Postolnikov. A spokesperson for the US attorney’s office for the southern district of New York also declined to comment.

It is unclear whether federal prosecutors are aware that Trump Media was propped up by Postolnikov via ES Family Trust. At the same time, the money-laundering investigation surrounding the Trump Media merger and the scrutiny on Postolnikov appears to have ballooned in recent months.

The investigation into potential money laundering appears to have started after Wilkerson’s lawyers Phil Brewster, Stephen Bell and Patrick Mincey alerted the US attorney’s office in the southern district of New York to the ES Family Trust loans in October 2022.

Months later, in June 2023, the FBI expanded its investigation to work jointly with the Department of Homeland Security’s El Dorado taskforce, which specializes in money laundering, and its Illicit Proceeds and Foreign Corruption group, which targets corrupt foreign officials who use US entities to launder illicit funds.

TRUMPs' ANGER and Embarrassment Revealed After 2022 Midterm MAGA Failures

TRUMPs' GOP-Hyped Red Wave Crumbles as Dems Demolish MAGA Extremists

MSRAW 11 APR 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=675

While Democrats were celebrating their stop to the so-called "red wave" in 2022, Donald Trump was stewing in anger in a Versailles-inspired ballroom in Florida as a hurricane bore down, a writer revealed in a new book.

Isaac Arnsdorf's "Finish What We Started: The MAGA Movement’s Ground War to End Democracy" details the movement's rise to power and its success outside of Donald Trump. After his reign, Trump attempted to recruit candidates he thought could follow his MAGA playbook and win in the 2022 Midterms.

It was an embarrassing failure for the ex-president, Arnsdorf wrote.

That night, as Hurricane Nicole approached the Florida coast, Trump entered the ballroom to a lackluster crowd of loyalists and a smattering of press.

"Trump, for all his deceits, could be hopelessly transparent about his emotions in person. Though he would later insist he was 'not at all ANGRY,' you could tell he was by his expression," writes Arnsdorf.

"You could tell by the way he thanked the press for being there, calling it a 'great honor' to have them (not his usual posture toward the 'Fake News'). He knew the reporters from the major national outlets had bailed, catching the last planes out of town before the storm."

That night proved he was losing when it came to getting those in his image elected to office. Taking the stage, he spoke for no more than five minutes and never addressed the crowd again, the author wrote.

"Trump recited his record of endorsing winners, in the primaries and now in the general. He mused aloud, 'Wouldn’t that be funny, if we were better on the general election than on the nominations?'" the book recalls.

He wasn't. Everyone from Kari Lake and Mark Finchem to Doug Mastriano and Herschel Walker failed in 2022. While they may have tried Trump's 2020 tactic of questioning the election results and the legitimacy of the vote, they were forced from the pillars of power.

Trump bailed on the faux celebration by midnight, and "only a few stragglers remained to cheer him off. Watching Trump work the room that night, it was possible, if only for a fleeting moment, to see him as just the club owner, the host of a party where no one wanted to be," the book recalls.

The book goes on to recall an interview Steve Bannon did with Oath Keeper Dan Schultz on "War Room," in Feb. 2021, promoting the necessity of taking over a political party to be successful. Bannon understood that third parties don't work, Arnsdorf said.

“Essentially, what we have to do is, we conservatives have to take over one of the two major political parties. Our party is, the one we’ve been using, is the Republican Party.

The problem is we’re not in control of it," Schultz told Bannon.

'Absolute MESS': Republicans 2024 Ballot Petition FULL of FAKE Addresses and Forged Names

One sheet as an example: None of the addresses exist as written, the names are all middle and last and those signatures are all done by the same person. Nearly every sheet is a variation of this."

According to a new report, many of the names appear to be on the ballot without the knowledge of those people; Archer called several of the voters named on the petition, "showed them the signature they allegedly signed with, and they ... categorically denied it was their signature."

"Even if there are real voters here and there spot checking is a disaster," wrote Archer. "Of the voters I can find that 'signed' the petition, most are either Republicans or Democrats. In a decade of politics I've never seen anything like this. Even the signatures of the circulators look like they could be forgeries. Someone just went through the voter file and mined for names and addresses. The circulator even changes their style depending on the day."

Bill Barr Shredded For LYING About Voting Again For Chaos TRUMP

'It's just such a lie': Bill Barr called out for saying a second Biden term is 'national suicide'

MSNBC 18 APR 2024

https://www.washingtonpost.com/resiz...F3C42DPOKM.jpg

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough bashed former Attorney General William Barr for conceding that he would vote again for Donald Trump despite saying he would usher in "chaos" in a second term.

https://revolver.news/wp-content/upl...15b3aa9982.jpg

Barr oversaw the Justice Department under the quadruple-indicted for president, and he has warned that another Trump presidency would be a "horror show" and a "nightmare," but the "Morning Joe" host noted with bitter irony that Barr told Fox News he would still cast a vote for him in November.

"Yeah, so I'm sure he's going to be campaigning for president [Joe] Biden to try to stop this madness," Scarborough said. "Who wants chaos and a horror show in the White House?"

Barr compared another Trump presidency to "Russian roulette" but said a second term for Biden would amount to "national suicide," and Scarborough expressed his disgust.

"That's such a lie, and he knows it's a lie," Scarborough said. "We're going to play some clips in a second, but I have to stop, we've got to stop and call out the lies when these people know they're lying. Barr is playing for, I guess, a Fox News audience because he wants to keep giving speeches – I don't know why he's doing it.

He doesn't believe a word he just said there, because he knows how chaotic Donald Trump is. He knows, as he said, that him being in the White House again would be a horror show.

He also knows – you and I, we all agree on the progressive agenda, we're not supporters of it. We also know that Joe Biden has spent his presidency, like, feeling pressure from progressives because they say he's too moderate. This guy from Delaware who, again, is not some left-wing wacko, and Bill Barr knows that. He'd rather have chaos and a horror show, he says."

Despite saying publicly that he would support the Republican ticket, even if Trump was the nominee, Scarborough doesn't believe that Barr would vote for his old boss.

"That guy is going to vote -- listen, I've been through this before with people," Scarborough said. "They talk that way on TV, and afterwards I ask who they vote for, and they go, 'Oh, I voted for' -- right?

He is going to vote for Joe Biden. He knows national suicide doesn't come from Joe Biden. He may not like his policies, but it comes because Donald Trump has said, you know, he's going to terminate the Constitution, he'll be a dictator from Day One.

https://washingtonpost.com/graphics/...odner_1200.jpg

He is going to use SEAL Team Six to execute his political opponents and nobody can do anything about it. I can go down the line – Barr knows for the safety of America this guy can't be president again."

2024; DANGEROUS TRUMP Promises Aggressive Election Interference

VENGEFUL Unhinged TRUMP Promises Aggressive Election Interference in Battleground States

Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee on Friday announced a “100,000 person strong” program designed to harass election officials and employees and discredit democracy in Nevada and a dozen other states.

MSRAW 22 APR 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=800

In a statement announcing its Orwellian named “election integrity program,” the RNC said it is “establishing a robust network of monitoring, and protection against any violation or fraud.”

Neither the RNC, Trump, nor anyone else has ever provided any evidence of fraud that would have altered results of the 2020 election that Trump lost to Joe Biden.

“We will aggressively take them to court,” declared Charlie Spies, the RNC’s lead lawyer in the program.

Again?

More than five dozen lawsuits filed by Trump and Republicans challenged the 2020 election results, including several suits in Nevada. To reiterate, the existence of significant fraud or illegal voting was not found in a single one of those cases.

“The Democrat tricks from 2020 won’t work this time,” Spies said.

A few weeks after the Trump-instigated January 6 attempt to steal the election, Spies himself acknowledged lies launched by Trump and his allies about the 2020 election are “simply not true.”

The RNC’s announcement issued Friday is loaded with hyperbole and innuendo about “voter fraud,” and a “rigged” election, but refers to no evidence of either. That’s not surprising. To reiterate, the courts and election officials in state after state, including Nevada’s then-Secretary of State, Republican Barbara Cegavske, found no evidence that the 2020 election was “rigged.”

But the RNC isn’t promising to intimidate election officials and workers in Nevada because of evidence of wrongdoing in 2020.

The RNC is launching its effort because Trump controls the RNC, and he told it to.

‘Democrat tricks from 2020’? Do tell.

With Friday’s RNC announcement, the de facto official position of the Republican Party in 2024 is that in 2020, in Nevada and several other states, every election official, including multiple Republican ones, along with thousands of poll workers and election staff in those states, were co-conspirators in an extravagant and sweeping conspiracy to steal the 2020 election from Donald Trump.

Many of the federal judges rejecting suits from Trump and Republicans in 2020 had been appointed by Republican presidents. Several of them had been appointed by Trump.

Yet for the “Democrat tricks from 2020” to have worked, dozens of state and federal judges would have also had to be in on the conspiracy.

For the alleged plot – again, the existence of which is now a fundamental premise of the official Republican Party – to succeed, not just judges but thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of people across the country would have had to have been in on it. It would have had to be an unprecedentedly sophisticated bipartisan conspiracy spanning all branches of local, state and federal government in multiple states.

And yet to this day, and despite multiple and ongoing efforts to prove election fraud by everyone from Trump’s ever-changing stable of quack lawyers to the RNC to Fox News to the My Pillow guy, not a single one of the thousands and thousands of people who would have had to participate in the “Democrat tricks” have confirmed any Republican allegations of the alleged vast conspiracy.

Because there was no conspiracy.

There was an election.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-ap...EVKY.gif&w=691

Trump lost.

Whether Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who co-chairs the RNC, or Sigal Chattah, who is Nevada’s Republican Committeewoman, or any of the other RNC’s leaders, members and/or staffers sincerely believe the fantasy of the “stolen” 2020 election – in other words, if they have genuinely been brainwashed into delusion – is irrelevant.

The delusion is now official RNC policy. Their job is to act accordingly. And that job, specifically, is “a 100,000 person strong” effort to belittle and discredit democracy.

To belabor the obvious, the last thing Trump wants to do is protect the integrity of elections. He is dedicated to doing the opposite of that.

He relentlessly attacked the election process in the years leading up to the 2020 election in an attempt to discredit the results even before any votes had been cast, and lied about the process on election night, in an attempt to stop votes from being counted.

After all the votes had been counted he continued to tell lies about the election, and instigated the January 6 insurrection.

When that failed, he started running for president again. He’s been lying about the 2020 election and, in a repeat of his behavior prior to the 2020 election, trying to discredit the 2024 results in advance.

The RNC’s announcement Friday is not an “election integrity program.” It’s just an extension of Trump’s attacks on democracy and penchant for cheating.

How ugly will it get in Nevada?

Trump’s adoring flock continues to be mesmerized by his schtick. Pandering to that flock, Republican elected officials and office-seekers, even those who did not deny the 2020 election results, have effectively condoned Trump’s war on democracy by citing “concerns” in some segments of the public about the 2020 election – concerns that were fabricated and spread by Trump.

Those Republican elected officials and office-seekers are implying, with no evidence, that somehow some vague something must have been wrong.

If not election deniers, they are election-denier-adjacent. They are irresponsibly enabling and lending credibility to Trump’s effort to end democracy. Their behavior is despicable, cowardly, and an ongoing threat to the nation and its people.

Nevada Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo is a good example of this (although most of the Nevada press doesn’t seem to care much).

If Lombardo shows the same blithe disregard when the RNC begins intimidating Nevada election workers, filing more nuisance Nevada lawsuits in which it compares apples to orangutans, and spreading lies to undermine his constituents’ faith in the same election system by which he obtained his job, he’ll be enabling and empowering all that as well.

By looking the other way, Lombardo would also be doing his bit to help Trump nullify the votes of Nevadans in 2024, as Trump tried to do after the 2020 election.

Lara Trump as co-chair of the RNC, Michael McDonald and fellow indicted election deniers in charge of the Republican Party in Nevada, Trump’s cavalcade of weirdo lawyers … given the chuckleheads who will be involved

It’s tempting, maybe even warranted, to speculate that Trump’s lawyers and the teams of people he enlists to harass election officials and undermine democracy in Nevada won’t be any more competent in 2024 than they in were 2020, and equally ineffective at overturning legitimate election results.

But even in failing, their efforts can be pernicious, as evidenced in multiple states, most notably the pain and suffering Trump and his minions cruelly inflicted on Georgia election workers Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman.

How ugly will it get in Nevada? Especially if Lombardo, Rep. Mark Amodei, and other Nevada Republican elected officials and candidates go along to get along with Trump? We’re about to find out.

MAGA BOMBSHELL: RNC Unveils Radical Plan to Upend Voting in America

TRUMPs' daughter-in-law Lara Trump, the newly-minted co-chair of the Republican National Committee, vowed that the party will be getting its hands on ballots directly in order to ensure no funny business in the 2024 election.

"We now have the ability at the RNC not just to have poll watchers — people standing in polling locations — but people who can physically handle the ballots," she said in an interview on the far-right Newsmax cable network on Tuesday.

Asked if her paid monitors will be stationed directly inside polling places, she confirmed they would.

"So there was a moratorium for about 40 years on the RNC actually training people to work in these polling locations," she said, referring to a consent decree running from 1982 to 2018 limiting Republican poll watcher activity after a series of illegal attempts to challenge voter eligibility in Black and Latino neighborhoods in New Jersey.

"That gives us a great ability, heading into what I assume everyone understands is the most important election of our lifetimes," she added.

Lara and other Trump loyalists' rise to power at the RNC has recently raised concerns about whether committee funds will be used to pay Trump's legal fees and questions about proposals to defund minority outreach centers across the country.

Trump and many of his allies have long insisted, with no credible evidence, that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

The former president is currently facing criminal charges in both Washington, D.C. and Georgia on accusations he schemed to try to block that election from being certified.

Democrats win a New York special election, further narrowing the House GOP's majority

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Democratic state Sen. Timothy Kennedy won a special election Tuesday for the New York congressional seat vacated by Democrat Brian Higgins.

https://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/...36&s=516&d=323

Kennedy easily defeated Republican Gary Dickson for the upstate New York seat, helped by a 2-to-1 Democratic registration advantage in the district, which includes Buffalo, Niagara Falls and several suburbs.

Kennedy has been in the state Senate since 2011. Describing Washington as “chaotic and dysfunctional,” he said he would focus in Congress on reproductive rights, immigration and stronger gun laws like those passed in New York after a 2022 mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket.

“We need to elect pro-democracy, anti-MAGA candidates all around the country this November,” Kennedy said in a victory speech, “and it starts here in this room in Buffalo, New York, tonight.”

Registration wasn’t Kennedy’s only advantage. The Democrat raised $1.7 million as of April 10, compared with Dickson’s $35,430 total. Kennedy will serve in Congress for the rest of the year. He is on the ballot, along with Republican attorney Anthony Marecki, for the general election.

On Tuesday, former town supervisor Nate McMurray, who planned to challenge Kennedy in a Democratic primary in June, said in a social media post that elections officials had removed him from the ballot because of insufficient signatures.

Earlier this year, the GOP’s slim House majority was narrowed in a closely contested Long Island-area special election that followed New York Republican George Santos’ expulsion from Congress. That race, won by Democrat Tom Suozzi, was viewed as a test of the parties’ general election strategies on immigration and abortion.

Trump is using existential fear to win the election.. Trumps' reign of fear may soon get a whole lot worse

Republicans are trying to reframe their legislative performance since taking over with a range of excuses.

Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) criticized hardliners who have demanded their way or the highway when passing legislation in the House.

“That’s the part I wish every American can get. That by pretending to be super conservative, by taking down a rule and fighting the establishment … the outcome is, you have less conservative legislation. So that’s okay for you individually. It’s not better for the country,” he said.

The all-or-nothing approach from the far-right means they are standing in the way of conservative legislation, requiring other Republicans to water down bills to get Democratic support to pass it, Republicans who spoke to the Post said.

It echoed a comment from Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), who told Raw Story last week that there are members who say things like, "It’s better to lose so that we appear that we're fighting."

Another lawmaker said they were ready to give up on policy decisions, and focus on the election instead.

“My recommendation is we stop trying to bend the policy for the year because there’s really nothing we can do with this majority right now,” said the Republican lawmaker in a swing district. “So, now the focus is on us keeping the majority and figuring our s--- out internally as a family because we may keep the majority, but it may only still be by one to four seats. So we’re going to have this problem.”

There are deadlines before the election that the country faces in which policy decisions are needed, however. On May 11, Congress needs to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration. They also have to figure out how to fund the government for 2025. By Sept. 30, Congress must pass a farm bill reauthorization, which will significantly impact members' own districts in an election year.

Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) explained that the nature of the House and Senate lends itself to bipartisan coalitions and legislation that both sides can agree to. Instead, he said, this year has seen hardliners raging over any agreement.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has called for a vote to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) from his leadership post. Rep. Tom Massie (R-KY) joined the effort saying that Johnson working with Democrats to pass legislation is unacceptable.

The Post said that Johnson has attempted to bring in the MAGA caucus, but to no avail. In fact, the division is so bad that "when Republicans went to the Texas-Mexico border earlier this year, members of the Freedom Caucus rented their own bus so as not to mingle with the larger group."

"Given the threat looming over Johnson and their inability to compromise, Republicans will probably resort to passing noncontroversial legislation that doesn’t rankle their conference, while also prioritizing possibly cutting federal funds to universities and piecing together an 'election integrity' bill Johnson and former president Donald Trump floated earlier this month. (Voting by undocumented migrants is already illegal in the United States,)" the Post wrote.

President Joe Biden May Be Held Off Ballot in Two States, GOP Officials Announced

https://www.usatoday.com/gcdn/presto...pjpg&auto=webp

Ohio and Alabama, both GOP-led, may not allow Biden on the November ballot.
Both states require a party nominee to be officially certified by a certain deadline.

And this year, the DNC, where Biden is expected to be certified, falls after those deadlines.

Ohio and Alabama — both GOP-run states — are saying they might not allow Biden on the ballot this November.

It all comes down to deadlines that fall before Biden is officially nominated, and both Ohio and Alabama officials say Biden could be too late.

Alabama's Secretary of State Wes Allen wrote a letter on Tuesday to the chair of the Alabama Democratic Party warning him that if the party doesn't officially certify Biden as its presidential candidate by August 15th, then the president will not be allowed on the November ballot.

That's because, Allen writes, the state of Alabama requires political parties to provide their certificate of nomination no later than 82 days before the election, which is set for November 5.

"I took an oath to uphold and defend the laws and constitution of my State, and I take that oath very seriously," Allen said in a statement to Business Insider. "I will administer Alabama elections in accordance with Alabama law and the deadlines provided therein."

https://static01.nyt.com/images/2013...y=90&auto=webp

Biden has already secured enough delegates to win the 2024 nomination.

But the Democratic National Convention — where Biden would get the formal nod — is scheduled to begin four days after that deadline, on August 19th.

TRUMP Mocked at Rally; 'Carry-Dite-Bye-Raye-Sigh-En' - Shows His Slurring is Getting Worse

Crowd is Thinning: Confused TRUMP Supporters Walk OUT of NJ Rally as Slurring Worsens

The former president spoke in New Jersey over the weekend, where he confused people with his comments about "O.J." and appeared to mistake Beijing for Taiwan.

Donald Trump was ridiculed online after his rally on Saturday, including for appearing to "slur" his words.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/8c/72...51dc632145.jpg

But that's not all that stood out to online viewers.

In another apparent slip-up, Trump was talking about the criminal charges he's facing. He once again claimed, without providing any evidence, that President Joe Biden is behind the state-based hush money cover-up case where he's currently sitting through a trial. Trump has pleaded not guilty to those charges in a New York court.

"I've come here from New York, where I'm being forced to endure a Biden show trial, all done by Biden," he said before slurring his speech. He then returns to the script, saying, "All being done by him, carried out by radical Democrat district attorney."

@Acyn said on social media that Trump's "slurring is getting worse."

@JoJoFromJerz, trying to mimic what Trump accidentally said, wrote, "Carry-dite-bye-raye-sigh-en."

Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski asked, "What language is this?"

Bill DeMayo wrote, "I don't even know wtf that second part is supposed to be dang."

@LiftForever67 added, "A slurring conman promising his followers money if they text him. You can't make this stuff up."

Confused TRUMP Supporters Walk OUT of His Rally as Slurring Worsens - THAT Was a SMALL Portion of a LARGE Mothers Day Event

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=765

'DON' Trump loves to brag about the "huge" size of his political rallies, but on Saturday a reporter spotted the ex-president's supporters leaving the event while he was still speaking.

Trump over the weekend spoke in New Jersey, which most polls show is solidly behind the current president, Joe Biden. After the event, the former president was criticized for making a mistake about China and for apparently slurring his speech.

Trump spent a good portion of his speech bragging about the size of the crowd, even insisting news cameras turn to face the crowd to show how many people attended the event.

But when a reporter from The Philadelphia Inquirer turned he noticed that, prior to Trump being finished with his speech, his own fans started departing.

"Trump is still speaking, but the crowd has been thinning. People have been walking out back to the boardwalk," wrote Aliya Schneider on Saturday. "The back section of the crowd is noticeably smaller as people continue to leave while Trump is still speaking."

Schneider, who provided video evidence of her observations, also included the ex-president's response.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=694

"Trump just said he hasn’t noticed anybody leaving," she wrote during the speech.

She added, "People have also left the front seating section."

"Trump is speaking again after bringing others on stage with him and the back section has largely emptied out," the reporter noted.

2024: TRUMPs' Humiliation- MERCILESSLY BOOED & Jeered at Convention

TRUMP Asked Libertarian Voters For Their Support. He Was BOOED at Their Convention.

‘No Wannabe Dictators’: Trump booed at Libertarian Convention. Jeers suggest Republican presidential candidate faces a BIG challenge.

Donald Trump asked Libertarian voters for their support. He was booed and jeered. He has suffered the rare humiliation of getting booed and heckled during a raucous speech to the Libertarian National Convention.

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/67121...0&dpr=1&s=none

A Libertarian party member shouts protests as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump addresses the Libertarian National Convention in Washington

Trumps rocky ride at a Washington hotel on Saturday night, including cries of “Bull****!” and “**** you!”, underlined the challenge that the Republican presidential nominee faces to broaden his appeal both left and right on the political spectrum.

“The fact is we should not be fighting each other,” Trump pleaded. “If Joe Biden gets back in, there will be no more liberty for anyone in our country. Combine with us in a partnership – we’re asking that of the libertarians. We must work together. Combine with us. You have to combine with us.”

The appeal went down like a lead balloon as delegates booed, jeered and shouted insults. It was a stunning rebuke for a man who has become accustomed to cult-like rallies where his every word is cheered to the echo.

The Libertarian party, which prioritises small government and individual freedoms, typically gains 3% or less of the national vote but its members could yet prove crucial in swing states this November. Trump’s clumsy attempt to court them resulted in him scolding them instead.

Taking the stage, he was confronted by Libertarians, who have their own factional disputes, shouting insults and decrying him for running up huge federal deficits and enriching pharmaceutical companies with the coronavirus vaccine development. A smaller core of diehard Trump supporters clad in “Make America great again” hats and T-shirts chanted “USA! USA!”. One person unfurled a Palestinian flag.

Amid this melee, Trump’s appeal to Libertarians to vote for him or join his campaign were repeatedly rebuffed. Referring to the four criminal indictments against him, he joked: “If I wasn’t a libertarian before, I sure as hell am a libertarian now.”

The ex-president quoted an article written by political commentator Deroy Murdock arguing that Libertarians should vote for Trump. The crowd again erupted in boos and jeers.

Trump retorted: “Only if you want to win. Only if you want to win. Maybe you don’t want to win. Maybe you don’t want to win. Trump went on to argue that Libertarians should make him their presidential nominee or at least vote for him in the election.

Again there were boos and wails of derision.

2024: TRUMPs' October Surprise -Taking Side of Dictators Could Prompt WWIII

Buckle Up For TRUMPs' 'October Surprise' - TRUMPs' October Supreme Could Start WWIII?

TRUMP has overtly taken the side of dictators including Putin, Xi, Orbán, and Kim over the past eight years, most likely because he admires the way each has crushed efforts toward democracy and ruled their respective nations with an iron fist.

US intelligence agencies say their big worry is that one or more of these nations will reciprocate Trumps’ love by launching some sort of October Surprise to push voters closer to Trump in time for this falls' election.

Such an action could swing our election toward Trump, but also risks provoking a third world war.

The phrase October Surprise, of course, refers to the successful deal that the Reagan campaign cut with Iran’s Ayatollah’s government to hold the American hostages in the US Embassy in Tehran until after the 1980 election to destroy President Jimmy Carter’s chances.

Both Irans’ then-president, Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, and the former Lt. Governor of Texas, Ben Barnes, have verified the plot, the latter last year in The New York Times.

An earlier (unknown until the past two decades) plot by the campaign of candidate Richard Nixon to blow up the 1968 Paris peace talks and thus sabotage President Johnsons deal with the Vietnamese was the first known successful Republican effort to use treason to steal an election. It qualified for the October Surprise label, but wasn’t known until well after Reagan’s efforts had earned the title.

And, of course, there was the October Surprise in Florida in 2000 when Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s administration got the 68% Black and Hispanic list of Texas felons from his brother, Texas Governor George W. Bush, and used them to purge tens of thousands of Black and Hispanic Florida voters with similar names from the Florida voter rolls in the months immediately before that year’s election.

George “won” the 2000 election by 537 votes (he lost the national popular vote by a half-million), although the Florida Supreme Court-ordered recount that was blocked by five corrupt Republicans on the US Supreme Court would have revealed that setup and several other ways Jeb had rigged the election that year for his brother, and put Al Gore into the White House.

Two of the three October Surprise events employed by Republican candidates for president involved colluding with foreign governments to harm a Democratic candidate; Reagan’s hit on Carter was particularly treasonous and effective. Nixon’s — appropriate to remember on Memorial Day — caused the death of an additional 20,000+ American GIs in Vietnam.

So, it’s entirely reasonable to assume that Trump — still in touch with Putin, Kim, and Xi, even if only through media proclamations — is either planning or expecting help this fall from his autocratic pals.

Putin, desperate for more weapons to crush democracy in Ukraine, has formed a strong alliance over the past year with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, trading battlefield weapons for submarine and other technology that Kim can use along with nuclear weapons to threaten the US.

In an NBC News article from May 24th titled “Are Russia and North Korea planning an ‘October surprise’ that aids Trump?” reporters Cortney Kube and Carol E. Lee note that there could be serious consequences arising from the fact that North Korea is today giving Russia more weaponry to use against Ukraine than all of Europe has been able to provide to President Zelenskyy:

“U.S. officials are also bracing for North Korea to potentially take its most provocative military actions in a decade close to the U.S. presidential election, possibly at Putin’s urging…
“The increasingly close relationship between Putin and Kim represents a major shift from when Russia worked with the U.S. in the past to try to rein in North Korea. Now, Moscow is using its veto power on the U.N. Security Council to give Pyongyang cover to evade sanctions enforcement measures intended to constrain its nuclear program.”

North Korea firing missiles into the demilitarized zone between it and South Korea to help Trump could represent a major escalation of tensions in the region, as would an October nuclear test or attack on South Korea’s border islands. It could also precipitate a major war in the region with the potential to spread worldwide.

While China has, in the past, counseled Kim to refrain from overly bombastic or provocative behavior to keep tensions in the region low, their increasingly bellicose actions and rhetoric toward Taiwan suggest they may welcome regional chaos which Xi could then use as a pretext to attack that island nation.

As Michael Schuman wrote for an article titled “Why Xi Wants Trump to Win” in The Atlantic:

“By weakening U.S. standing abroad and democracy at home, Trump would offer Xi more opportunities than Biden to extend Chinese influence and win hearts and minds within the developing world.”

Our government has noticed: Three months ago, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) published their Annual Threat Assessment. It was unambiguous about what they’re already seeing in the works for this election year:

“The PRC [People’s Republic of China] may attempt to influence the U.S. elections in 2024 at some level because of its desire to sideline critics of China and magnify U.S. societal divisions. PRC actors’ have increased their capabilities to conduct covert influence operations and disseminate disinformation. … The PRC aims to sow doubts about U.S. leadership, undermine democracy, and extend Beijing’s influence.”

Similarly, The New York Times reported last month that China — in a move reminiscent of Putin’s millions of Internet Research Agency troll posts promoting Trump on Facebook leading up to the 2016 election — is all in on using social media, including, apparently, TikTok, to crush Biden and lift Trump into the White House:

“Some of the Chinese accounts impersonate fervent Trump fans, including one on X that purported to be ‘a father, husband and son’ who was ‘MAGA all the way!!’ The accounts mocked Mr. Biden’s age and shared fake images of him in a prison jumpsuit, or claimed that Mr. Biden was a Satanist pedophile while promoting Mr. Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan.”

Any of these actions by China could be a trigger for an international conflagration pitting America and Asian democracies against an axis of China, North Korea, and Russia. If Europe jumped in to help, we’d be in the middle of World War III faster than most imagine possible.

Another hostile dictatorship that believes a Trump presidency would work to its advantage is Iran, which has worked with Republican presidential candidates before. It’s today run by the heirs to the regime that successfully handed the 1980 election to Reagan, and tried to help Trump get elected in 2020.

As the DNI’s Annual Threat Assessment noted:

“Ahead of the U.S. election in 2024, Iran may attempt to conduct influence operations aimed at U.S. interests, including targeting U.S. elections, having demonstrated a willingness and capability to do so in the past. During the U.S. election cycle in 2020, Iranian cyber actors obtained or attempted to obtain U.S. voter information, sent threatening emails to voters, and disseminated disinformation about the election.
“The same Iranian actors have evolved their activities and developed a new set of techniques, combining cyber and influence capabilities, that Iran could deploy during the U.S. election cycle in 2024.”

Given Iran’s role in supporting Hamas’ brutal raid on Israel last October and the increased pressure the Biden administration is putting them under, disrupting our election to put Trump — no fan of democracy — into office apparently makes a lot of sense to the violent mullahs clinging to power in that country. At the very least, Trump may dial back (as he did when president before) the efforts of Voice of America and other US propaganda and outreach efforts aimed at destabilizing the Iranian regime.

Combine Iran’s efforts with those of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu — who is both openly hostile to President Biden (as he was to President Obama) and fond of Trump — and an expansion of conflict in the Middle East also has the potential to both influence the US election and lead to a larger international war.

Netanyahu, under indictment for bribery and corruption with the cases against him paused until he’s no longer in office, has a powerful personal incentive to drag out the war (and the deaths of Gazans) just to stay out of prison. An alliance with a second Trump presidency would be political gold for him.

Every time Netanyahu commits another war crime or gives America and the international community the middle finger over his use of famine as an instrument of war, more young Americans peel away from Biden in frustration. While they probably won’t vote for Trump, polling from 2020 shows that if they hadn’t shown up for Biden in that election, Trump would have held onto the presidency. And Netanyahu knows it.
This past week, Trump told a group of wealthy Jewish donors that if student protests of Netanyahus’ policies in Gaza happened during his presidency, he would not only arrest them but he would strip them American citizenship and deport them from the country. It’s his most explicit shout out so far to Netanyahu, and will certainly encourage the Prime Minister to continue to ignore President Biden and enrage the Democratic base.

Finally, Russia’s President Putin knows that a second Trump term will be like a gift from the gods. He’s lost over a half-million soldiers and a massive amounts of equipment in his brutal war against Ukraine, and is facing rising anger at home.

Trump, who has essentially promised to cut off US support for that besieged nation, could literally save Putin’s life if his generals are thinking of taking him out the way Hitler’s tried to do.

To that end, Russia and Saudi Arabia recently collaborated to cut oil production by 1.4 million barrels a day in an effort to drive up gas prices here in the US, just like they did in October/November of 2022. Since Trump let the Saudis buy the largest refinery in America (at Port Arthur, Texas), expect gas prices to be over $5/gallon this fall.

The stakes are incredibly high for Putin; he may well think an attack against a NATO country, if not answered with a swift, massive response, would reveal weakness in the Biden administration that could help Trump this fall. And if NATO does respond vigorously, that could toss us into WWIII.

Most recently, Trump shouted out to Putin in an echo of Reagan’s traitorous embrace of Iran, essentially asking him to humiliate Biden by holding onto imprisoned Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich until after the election. This has to encourage Russia’s truculence in the face of international pressure to stop killing Ukrainian civilians.

Both the American Civil War and World War II came about when explicitly authoritarian leaders used military force to try to violently destroy democratic nations’ way of life. A predatory new axis has formed including Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China that is every bit as opposed to representative government as was Hitler’s Third Reich.

And Trump empowered them by killing the Iran nuclear deal President Obama had negotiated, allowing them to resume making nukes; embracing Kim and Xi; and giving top secret information to Putin.

Meanwhile, three of those nations are actively involved in propaganda operations — principally exploiting social media and Republican politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene and JD Vance — to denigrate democracy and majority rule and elevate oligarchy and strongman rule.

Will one of these “help Trump get elected while advancing our own interests” scenarios by one or more of these axis nations lead to the end of democracy in America or a third world war? At this point it’s too early to tell, but EU and Asian democracies are increasingly worried about that exact scenario.

In war, things can change suddenly in ways nobody anticipated; events frequently spiral out of control (as did the events leading to WWI). We all need to stay alert and remain outspoken about the dangers Trump represents, and do what we can to support democracy worldwide.

2024 - 'Prepare': Bombshell TRUMP Claim Spurs Terrifying Prediction About White Supremeist MAGAs' Reaction

We're Watching The Largest and Most Dangerous Cult in American History

A bombshell claim from a onetime producer of "The Apprentice" who says former President Donald Trump used the NIG-word on tape sat sent a shockwave rippling through social media Thursday.

Now grim predictions are mounting that reports of the disturbing comment — one many secrets revealed by Bill Pruit upon the expiration of his non-disclosure agreement — will only improve the chances of the Republican Party's presumptive presidential nominee.

"It's being reported that there is a second Trump recording of him saying the N-word on camera, but sadly, he won't lose any votes if that ever comes out," added Alex Cole. "His base loves him because he's a racist."

Others are predicting Pruitt's report will green-light racist language among the far right.

"Trump on tape using the N-word will only make him more popular with his base," replied X user Darren Kaplan. "Prepare for the word along with every other ethnic slur to return to common usage as white Americans 'refuse to be censored by the woke mob.'"

These predictions were spurred by the Slate report Thursday that Trump used the racist slur during a conversation about "The Apprentice" contestant Kwame Jackson.

According to Pruitt, Trump said, "Would America buy a n----r winning?”

This is not the first time Trump has been accused of using the N-word on set.

Actor Tom Arnold, the ex-husband of Trump supporter Roseanne Barr, and fellow "Apprentice" contestant and former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman both said in 2018 that such a tape exists. Trump denied it.

"There are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa," Trump declared on social media. "She made it up."

Now political commentators are saying, even if such a tape exists and is made public, it will deter Trump voters as much as the "Access Hollywood" tape — in which he boasts he can grab woman sexually without consent — did in 2016.

"People are so dug in that they could release a tape of Trump calling someone the N-word tonight, and he wouldn't drop one tenth of a point in the polls," replied @KCBoricua71. "His supporters do not care."

"Despite a tape floating around with Trump saying the N-word, he will cry fake news and AI generated," JMeanypants added. "We need someone to authenticate the tape to ENSURE it’s not AI because MAGATS will drown it out with noise. I loathe MAGATS."

"Folks... the people who vote for Donald Trump know he uses the NIG-word," wrote The Nation's Elie Mystal. "THAT'S WHY THEY LIKE HIM! Trump being caught on tape saying it is the feature, not the bug." TRUMP HATES 'NIGS'

2024 Dangerous MAGA: Proud Boys Re-Emerging as Physical Force' To Help TRUMP

Proud Boys Re-Emerging as Physical Force For TRUMP Ahead of 2024 Election:

The Proud Boys, a right-wing gang that saw many of its leaders jailed for leading the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building, is reportedly regaining strength ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Reuters reports that the group is "preparing to emerge once again as a physical force" for Donald Trump on the theory that, should he win the election, he will pardon all of the gangs' imprisoned leaders.

The groups recruiting efforts have only accelerated after Trump was convicted last week on 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records to cover up hush-money payments made to an adult film star.

One Ohio chapter of the group, for example, posted a video of street brawls in the wake of the verdict under the message, "Fighting solves everything."

"The re-emergence of the Proud Boys at Trump’s political rallies and events coincides with polls showing a majority of Americans fearing political violence will flare around November’s election," writes Reuters.

"It also comes when Trump’s use of incendiary rhetoric is inspiring his supporters to target his opponents – including judges, prosecutors and political rivals – in a wave of threats that’s unprecedented in modern American politics."
During a 2020 debate with Democratic rival Joe Biden, Trump infamously told the Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by" after Biden pressed him to condemn the group.

Months later, members of the group would be leading the way in inciting a mob of Trump supporters to attack law enforcement officers and break into the Capitol, where they sent lawmakers of both parties running for their lives and delayed the certification of President Joe Biden's victory for several hours.

Trump has vowed to pardon the people who participated in the attack on the Capitol and has even referred to them as "hostages."

Election Commissioner Presents Evidence That TRUMP CAUGHT Paying People to Attend Rally

'It's nasty out here': MAGA fan bails on Trump rally hours before he appears, in 105-degree heat.

People were apparently paid to attend Donald Trump's rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, according to Tennessee Democratic election commissioner Chris D. Jackson, although it's not clear who did the paying.

Jackson, who criticized Hungary's autocratic leader, Viktor Orbán, for endorsing the ex-president, took to social media over the weekend to draw attention to a Craigslist post appearing to offer payment for attendance at the MAGA event.

"BREAKING: Trump Caught Paying People to Attend Rally," the official reported. "A Craigslist ad has been found offering payment for people to attend Trump's rally in Las Vegas today."

He then continues:

"Remember the video from a few days ago where Trump was waving at a non-existent crowd? It appears EVERYTHING IS A FACADE. The media wants you to think Trump has enthusiasm, but the facts say otherwise."

He added, "If you are interested in making some money to donate to the Biden campaign, here you go," and linked to the posting.

"I guess they don't want to have another bust like this where 2,500 show up and they claim it was 30,000," Jackson said, referencing Trump' event in the Bronx. "It really is sad."

The posting itself is titled, "Paid to attend Trump rally! (Sunset park)."

"Looking for someone to attend the Trump rally on Sunday. It would be a marketing promo so we would ask you to wear a shirt of the brand and also carry a sign. Bonus payment ($50) if you end up on broadcast!" the online advertisement states. "Picking up shirts / signs + attending event estimated at a total of 3-4 hours of work. $75 flat payment + $50 potential bonus. We ask that you take photos of the event for confirmation and marketing purposes."

U.S. Senator Mike Lee, a Trump supporter, responded to that posting. "Nice try. So much projection. So little time," he said.

105-Degree Heat.

"I'm Chris," the Trump supporter told the RSBN host. "I'm very, very hot."

"I was planning on staying out here for eight hours, and I don't think I'm going to do it," he continued. "I'm live streaming, but I'm going to go around and say hi to people and then just boogie, I think."

Republicans have already sent Americans to prison for voting. in 2024 they plan to bar millions from from taking part in the elections. 1 in 10 eligible U.S. voters say they can’t easily show proof of their citizenship

Top Republicans are lining up behind a proposal to require proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections. But for millions of U.S. citizens, it’s not easy to prove their citizenship with a document.

About 1 in 10 adult citizens, or 21.3 million eligible voters, say they either do not have or could not quickly find in order to show the next day their U.S. birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship, according to results released Tuesday from a national survey.

The new findings, shared first with NPR, also show disparities by race, ethnicity and political affiliation.

U.S. citizens of color are more likely than white citizens, who do not identify as Latino, to say they lack citizenship documents (3% of people of color compared to 1% of white people) or can’t readily access them (11% of people of color vs. 8% of white people).

Independents are more likely to report that they don’t have documents (4%) compared to Democrats (2%) and Republicans (1%). They are also more likely to report not having ready document access (13%) than Democrats (10%) and Republicans (7%).

The results fall in line with longstanding concerns among many election experts and voting rights advocates, who have warned that proposals — including the new Republican-backed bill in the U.S. House of Representatives — to require people to show documentary proof of citizenship when signing up to vote in federal elections could risk keeping eligible voters from casting ballots.

“We've got a huge crisis on our hands when we think about the people who lack the documents required to prove their citizenship and identity. And we really need to think about the far-reaching implications for that when it comes to economic and social and voting access,” says Lauren Kunis, executive director of VoteRiders, a voting rights organization focused on voter ID issues that sponsored the survey alongside groups including the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University’s law school and the University of Maryland’s Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement.

Of all the modern Supreme Court’s incredibly disappointing rulings, gutting the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is near the top, second only to its catastrophic decision to rip away half a century of reproductive rights from American women.

Until the court’s shocking 2013 Shelby County vs. Holder decision, states and counties with histories of racial discrimination were required to get approval from the Justice Department — known as “preclearance” — for redistricting or changes to voting laws. The conservative members of the Supreme Court changed all that with a 5-4 decision.

“There is no denying,” Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. wrote, “that the conditions that originally justified these measures no longer characterize voting in the covered jurisdictions.”

'That’s because these measures were working, sir.'

Election Workers SCARED For Safety...

Aiming to send a message, the Biden administration recently spotlighted its indictments and convictions in cases involving threats to election officials or workers.

But with no letup in reports of attacks, some elections professionals say federal law enforcement still isn’t doing enough to deter bad actors and ensure that those on the front lines of democracy are protected this fall.

“Election officials by and large have no confidence that if something were to happen to them, there would be any consequences,” said Amy Cohen, the executive director of the National Association of State Election Directors. “It is very clear that we are not seeing a deterrent effect.”

A U.S. Justice Department spokesman declined to comment for this story, instead directing to a webpage for the departments' Election Threats Task Force.

BIDEN-TRUMP Debate: Presidential Candidates Trade Blows on Abortion And Tax Policy

A COMPLETE DEBACLE & USELESS DEBATE:

Trump Declines to Say If He Will Accept Election Results in Deadlocked Race

Democrats concerned after Bidens' debate performance as Trump gets away with lies and deflections

The Guardian 28 JUN 2024

KEY MOMENTS;

Biden answers first question from moderator about the economy, and specifically the inflation that has gripped the US during Biden’s term.

“What do you say to voters who feel they are worse off under your presidency than they were under President Trump?” Tapper asked.

Biden immediately blamed Trump:

We got to take a look at what I was left when I became president, what Mr Trump left me. We had an economy that was in freefall. The pandemic was so badly handled, many people were dying. All he said was not that serious, just inject a little bleach into your arm, you’ll be all right.

The economy collapsed, there were no jobs, unemployment rate rose to 15%, it was terrible. And so, what we had to do is try to put things back together again. That’s exactly what we began to do.

'It's been a terrible thing what you've done': Biden attacks Trump over abortion

Biden and Trump got into it over abortion, with the president telling off his predecessor for his hand in the supreme court decision overturning Roe v Wade, and allowing states to ban the procedure.

Trump appointed three of the justices who supported that decision, and Biden told him: “It’s been a terrible thing what you’ve done.”

The president went on to argue politicians should not have a part in women’s health care":

The idea that the politicians, the founders, wanted the politicians to be the ones making decisions about my woman’s health is ridiculous … no politician should be making that decision. A doctor should be making those decisions. That’s how it should be.

Trump says he will get Ukraine war 'settled fast before I take office'

Trump claimed he could somehow resolve Russia’s invasion of Ukraine prior to taking office, assuming he wins the November election.

“I will have that war settled between Putin and Zelenskiy as president-elect before I take office on January 20. I’ll have that war settled, people being killed so needlessly, so stupidly, and I will get it settled, and I’ll get it settled fast before I take office,” Trump said.

Trump deflects when asked about role in January 6 attack

Trump was asked directly about his role in the January 6 insurrection, during which hordes of his supporters sacked the US Capitol in an effort to block Biden from becoming president.

The former president did not have much substantive to say in response, but instead tried to steer attention to his campaign planks:

Let me tell you about January 6. On January 6, we had a great border. Nobody coming through, very few. On January 6, we were energy independent. On January 6, we had the lowest taxes ever. We had the lowest regulations ever. On January 6, we were respected over the world, all over the world. We were respected.

Trump says Biden 'could be a convicted felon as soon as he gets out of office'

Trump was asked if he would prosecute his political opponents, like Biden, if he returns to the presidency.

“Well, I said my retribution is going to be success. We’re going to make this country successful again, because right now, it’s a failing nation,” Trump said at the start of his answer.

But then he seemed to indicate that he would target Biden:
But when he talks about a convicted felon. His son is a convicted felon at a very high level. His son is convicted, going to be convicted probably numerous other times.

Should have been convicted before, but his justice department let the statute of limitations lapse on the most important things. But he could be a convicted felon as soon as he gets out of office. Joe could be a convicted felon with all of the things that he’s done. He’s done horrible things.

Tapper and Bash have failed to push back, and it’s difficult for Biden alone to counter every lie. The unfortunate upshot is false equivalence: Trump’s lies seem to have just as much weight as Biden’s truths, especially to viewers who might just be tuning into the election. It’s a potential repeat of the disastrous CNN town hall with Trump last year.

Trump declines to say if he will accept election results

Moderator Dana Bash asked Trump if he would accept the election results, and rather than answer, Trump more or less dodged the question by rambling about a variety of things.

“Will you pledge tonight that once all legal challenges have been exhausted, that you will accept the results of this election, regardless of who wins? And you will say right now that political violence in any form is unacceptable?” Bash asked.

“Well, I shouldn’t have to say that, but of course, I believe that it’s totally unacceptable,” Trump said, seemingly in response to the question about political violence.

The candidates are now on to closing statements, with Biden up first and arguing that he had cleaned up a mess left behind by his predecessor.

“We’ve made significant progress from the debacle that was left by President Trump in his last term,” Biden said.

He went on to say Trump “increased your taxes because of the deficit. Number one, he’s increased inflation because of the debacle he left after where he handled the pandemic, and he finds himself in a position where he now wants to tax you more by putting a 10% tariff on everything that comes into the United States of America.”

Biden ended by pledging to “continue to fight to bring down inflation and give people a break.”

Trump attacks Biden as 'complainer' as debate concludes

The former president used his closing argument to attack Biden as having failed to change anything as president.

“Like so many politicians, this man is just a complainer. He said, we want to do this, we want to do that, we want to get rid of this tax, that tax. But he doesn’t do anything,” Trump said.

And then he shifted to his tried-and-true tactic of tying that to all his favored campaign subjects:

All he does is make our country unsafe by allowing millions and millions of people to pour in. Our military doesn’t respect him. We look like fools in Afghanistan. We didn’t stop Israel. It was such a horrible thing that would have never happened. It should have never happened.

Trump concluded by saying: “We’re in a failing nation, but it’s not going to be failing any more. We’re going to make it great again.”

The old man is failing and losing control

The New York Times reported that TRUMP is planning to drastically scale back and simplify the official platform of the Republican Party, citing "a memo sent to the party’s platform committee."

Before the Republican National Convention kicks into gear in mid-July, billionaire donors are being increasingly being used as "pawns" by the leading contenders for the second slot to catch the former president's eye.

According to a report from the New York Times, one of the keys to becoming the GOP VP nominee is the ability to bring more cash to the general election campaign and hopefuls are flaunting their big-money contacts as a reason to be the chosen one.

The report also notes that MANY of the wealthy donors are NOT pleased at all the infighting and being used as bait.

Appearing on MSNBC she predicted there is little chance that Trump will be tried for election interference before election day but the evidence against him could see the light of day.

As she explained to she MSNBC hosts, "It is not just the defendant, it is the public that has a right to a speedy trial. I think the more progress he [Smith] could make before president-elect Donald Trump goes into office, the more he can do at the other end."

"Certainly the things that have been deemed official acts, such as Donald Trump's interaction with the Justice Department are going to go by the wayside," she predicted before offering, "Jack Smith has the option of amending the indictment."

"You do not have to go back to a grand jury to remove things from an indictment where they already found probable cause," she elaborated. "So he can pare this down to just those acts that he believes are official acts and go for it. it Certainly it will be litigated but the public will have an opportunity to see what the unofficial acts were: organizing false slates of electors, pressuring state officials to flip the outcome of the election and exploiting the chaos at the Capitol on January 6 to try to press legislators to delay the certification."

"All of that, I think, is entitled to a public hearing. Of course, also the documents case out of Florida. Judge Aileen Cannon has made no effort to act with urgency. — no reason that case can't proceed all the way through January to see how much progress they make, " she added.

Severe Harm: Federal Court Finds Black Voters Rights Violated in Mississippi

Mississippi Republican lawmakers violated the Voting Rights Act by discriminating against Black voters in their legislative redistricting plan, a federal district court ruled Tuesday.

MSNRAW 8 JUL 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=645

In an opinion released by the Northern Division of the Southern District of Mississippi and highlighted by The Redistricting Network, a three-judge panel found that legislators improperly diluted Black voting power in the state House and Senate by racially gerrymandering districts.

The new maps contain the same number of Black-majority districts as the maps in prior elections — but, the court found, they still improperly sought to dilute voting power by race.

"If left as is, Black voters in each affected district will be served for a full term by a legislator chosen in an election that diluted Black votes," stated the ruling. "The harm is localized, but it is severe to the affected voters. This is the exact kind of injury that warrants a remedy."

The ruling allows the Mississippi legislature to try to create remedial maps and submit them to the court, and orders that special elections for the revised districts will take place when a new map has been created.

In recent years, efforts to combat racial gerrymandering, which falls under the purview of both the Fourteenth Amendment and Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, have seen mixed results before the far-right Supreme Court.

In the landmark Allen v. Milligan case, the justices upheld a finding that Alabama unlawfully gerrymandered its congressional districts in violation of the Voting Rights Act; however, this term, they reversed a challenge to South Carolina's congressional districts, sharply weakening the ability to bring Fourteenth Amendment challenges to racial gerrymanders in the process.

Meanwhile, in an issue that could eventually come before the Supreme Court, right-wing judges have sought to limit the "private right of action" of individual voters to bring lawsuits under the Voting Rights Act

Which, if the justices adopt the theory, would render the U.S. Justice Department as the only entity that could bring such cases — potentially gutting the Voting Rights Act altogether during times where a president that doesn't support it is in office.

Elon Musk Plans to Commit $45MIL Per Month to Pro-Trump Pac

The worlds’ richest man Elon Musk will commit $45m per month to a new Super Pac intended to support Donald Trump’s campaign, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Guardian 16 JUL 2024

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” wrote Trump on Truth Social.

When Trump first ran for office, Vance’s eventual nomination to run alongside him would have seemed implausible. Vance, a venture capitalist who rocketed into the public eye with his 2016 memoir turned Netflix movie Hillbilly Elegy, was once among Trump’s conservative critics.

https://ci3.googleusercontent.com/me...g?imwidth=1280

“I’m a never-Trump guy, I never liked him,” Vance said during an October 2016 interview with Charlie Rose. Trump was, by Vance’s estimation at the time, a “terrible candidate”.

He even wondered aloud, in texts to a former roommate, whether Trump was more of “a cynical asshole like Nixon”, or worse, “America’s Hitler”.

Since then, Vance has undergone a dramatic transformation into a Maga power figure and close ally of the former president who has supported some of Trump’s more authoritarian impulses, like questioning the results of the 2020 election and, in a 2021 podcast interview, suggesting Trump should purge civil servants from the federal government if re-elected.

Vance’s response to the assassination attempt at a Trump rally on Saturday was also notable. “The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs,” Vance wrote on X. “That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”
